This is my favourite restaurant on the planet (I'm from Ontario). You can go for any occasion because the menu has that much of a range in price and types of dishes! You wanna spend $15 and get fish tacos, great! You wanna spend $65 on the freshest crab you'll have, amazing! Love the service, everyone's so personable, and the atmosphere is unbeatable.

I’ve eaten here twice now and both times everything has been amazing. Servers and knowledgeable and the chief is able to make adjustments on the daily specials to accommodate my gluten sensitivity. I always end up ordering a combination of items off the daily specials and haven’t yet eaten anything off their standard menu because the specials sound so amazing. This time we got mussels with fresh tomatoes, celery and garlic. Cod with fennel bacon sauce and rice. Two tacos, one with their bang bang shrimp the other with halibut with fries, and a type of whitefish I had never heard of before so I can’t remember the name but had a texture and butteriness similar to lobster, that came with a coconut curry sauce which was amazing!! They also bring warm fresh bread with molasses butter which my dinner partners said was amazing. I highly suggest this restaurant to anyone in St. John’s!

Great food and friendly service. Very very long wait times for food. Don't come here if you can't spend a few hours here. Entrance is terrible, you go up concrete steps and walk up a cement building. Also the service was not very deligent. We didn't get any refills on our drinks and by the time we got our food we had waited so long were ready to just walk out. They also do a tandem delivery which brings out everyone's food the same time which is terrible because the last persons food is just cooked while everyone else's has been waiting to be served. Also if you are a fast eatter or ordered a small meal you are waiting for everyone else to finish instead of getting your meal when it's ready and freshly cooked. Don't know if we would go again for this reason although the food is fantastic.

Honestly, we thought this place was a fish market! Didn’t realize it’s a restaurant. It’s pricey, but the food is absolutely delicious. All they fish they use is *ABSOLUTELY* fresh, and they filet and prepare it the morning of. You can be confident that the fish you’re eating literally came out of the ocean 24-48 hours ago! If you don’t feel like having fish, they have other things too - like Indian butter chicken?! (Which to my amazement, was actually really good!). Pro-tip: a lot of the food can be spicy, so be prepared for that!

I have a Gluten and Dairy allergy and they served me one of the best restaurant meals ever (I had the Captain's Seafood Feast). They modified the meal which called for some creams on the fish with some delicious toppings of fruits, vegetables and herbs. They even brought me some nacho chips and salsa before my meal since I couldn't eat their bread (a total surprise). Oh and they have a dedicated gluten free frier so I was able to eat their delicious home made fries...AWESOME!

Great service in a cool environment. The view of the harbour is fabulous at night and I can only imagine it during the day! A great selection of seafood as well as other food. The specials are fairly expensive, however the regular menu has a large variety of moderately priced items. Super convenient that the parking garage is below the restaurant, didn't even have to go out in the rain!

If you love seafood, you have to check this place out! The Captain's Seafood Feast has shrimp, scallops, salmon, halibut, cod, a lobster tail and a salt cod fritter all on the same plate. The lobster bisque is delicious. The chowder is amazing. Highly recommended.

It was bland and tasteless. Given that we've been there twice, I am willing to give it another try someday. Hopefully it has changed a little since the last time!

Our party of 6 enjoyed our meals. Appetizers consisted of mussels ( delicious), soup of the day and crab dip with nachos. We ate it all! Entrees included fish and chips ( large serving at a great price - also delicious) and cod of the day was baked and served over roasted root veggies and Moroccan spiced lentils ( this was Devine!) The seafood pasta was also great. No one had room for dessert! My only caution would be the cocktails, many have raw egg whites and they don't always tell you. I have an allergy to raw egg whites and stick to wine ( not Sangria)!

This is my favourite restaurant in St. Johns. A little pricey but you get what you pay for. The seafood is fantastic and the tomahawk steak is to die for. Theres a decent balcony over the harbour but the atmosphere inside is even nicer. Its a must do everytime i come to Newfoundland.

Interior is stunning and if you get a seat by the window, the view is amazing. Even at 430pm on a Saturday afternoon, the place was buzzing with activity. It's bar and cocktail seating only if you don't have a reservation and that area was crowded too. Finding the right floor and doorway from the attached parking garage is a little difficult for a first timer. And the price is a bit steep at $2 per half hour. Not sure if The Fish XChange validates parking.

Tried to eat at fish market for dinner earlier this week but the wait was for too long. Returned for lunch today and am glad I did. Very nice atmosphere and friendly staff. I had the halibut topped with osso bucco and it was delicious. Also had the vegetable curry soup (soup of the day) which was amazing. Servings are not large and prices are a bit steep but it you want to splurge it is a great meal.

The fish and chips were good. The lobster bisque was way too creamy and barely had any lobster in it. The service is completely awful. We were waiting for a table, so we sat at the bar in the meantime. Then about 10 minutes of waiting, one girl comes over and says there’s a table on the patio for us. So we said great, let’s get to our new table. She then asks if we ordered anything from the bar, and we said “yes, we ordered an appetizer and entree”. She then proceeded to tell us that we NEED to eat it at the bar because they don’t transfer tables after someone orders from the bar. At the beginning, they told us that the bar is the same food and same service as the dining room. I’ve never heard of not being able to transfer the meals to a table people. It’s a common practice in a lot of restaurants to move people around. Clearly, they don’t have a system for it. After being annoyed for a while, they finally gave us a table (which they said was on the patio) and when we got there, it wasn’t a patio table. At this point, we were so frustrated with the lack of professionalism at this restaurant. I will not be returning for this reason.

This is a great place for a date or business dinner. It's a fun environment and energetic atmosphere. Food is fantastic. Seafood is fresh and the cod tongues (bar menu) are amazing. They can get overbooked and service can get a little slow but it is worth the wait! Definitely worth a visit and return visit. :)

Went there for dinner tonight. Sat at the bar. Service was friendly and fast. I ordered the special shark pasta. Very flavorful, creamy, pasta is good well, only thing bad thing I can say about it was the lack of cheese. I feel like some parmesan or asiago on top would've been perfect for this dish. I ordered the apple crumble cheesecake. It was delicious! Light, fluffy, creamy, and had sliced of apple in it. Overall portions and prices are fair, left full and satisfied :) Highly recommended!

Was expecting high prices and smaller portions, but was still disappointed. The spinach and crab dip, $16, was average but only came with tortilla chips. Would be better value if it also came with pita bread, which is common at other restaurants. The seafood feast, $43, was shared between me and my partner. She was disappointed by the presentation, I was disappointed by the portion, although I should have known. The server asked if we wanted to know what was what on the platter, and then proceeded to guess his way around the plate and in the end admitted he didn't know what fish was which. The food itself ranged from delicious to meh. I really liked the cod fritter and lobster. Next time we are downtown St. John's, we will be trying another seafood restaurant.

Was really looking forward to a meal here based on comments. Started off with a stale $10 draft India beer and it went downhill from there. The food was pretty blah, chowder was ok, the Newfoundland Plate was gross frankly, they have no idea how to make fish n brewis. I'll be honest, many other places to spend $150 on a meal. Went for the breakfast brunch. It cost $35 a plate, which normally would be ok but the food was terrible. Over cooked bacon, I would pick it up and it would just fall apart. Stale English muffins and bland hollandaise made for bad eggs benny. My hubby liked the prime rib but that was about the extent of it. It was our 5 year wedding anniversary and thought it would be special. It was a huge bust.

Food was great and good atmosphere only flaw I could say about the place is apparently all fried foods go in the same oil. While I don't expect them to have different oil for each product a pescatarian or vegetarian may have trouble with their fish/fries being cooked in the same oil as chicken

I was recommended this place by some staff at the airport, who pointed out that this restaurant was a hot spot in town. We went there in the beginning of the evening. The restaurant wasn't crowded and the staff was very friendly. I don't eat fish (so what was I doing to a fish restaurant right?) so I had their tacos and they were great. My boyfriend had the cod and it was apparently very good. The view from the restaurant (if you sit close to the window) is also great. My only drawback is that it was a little pricey for the quantity of food (i.e. fish and tacos) we got.

We went here for dinner while on vacation. My husband order the fish and chips; it was melt in your mouth good, not greasy, with a light batter coating. I had the Arctic Char special which was equally as good. The service was great and we had a nice view of the shoreline. Be prepared to wait during season if you don't have reservations; we arrived on a Thursday night in July at 8:15 pm and had to wait 45 minutes for a table for 2. That said, it was well worth it!

We arrived St.John’s on Monday. We googled the nearby restaurants and this place pop out as the first one. When we went there , the place was packed. The host with pink hair and glasses told us we needed one hour to get a table. We kindly asked her if she could write down our name and call us back for the table. She rolled her eyes and said: fine, what is your name? We lost our appetite instantly because of her unwelcoming and unfriendly attitude. Maybe the food is good here, but the staff could be nicer . I have never encountered such situation in Vancouver . Luckily we found another place in downtown , and the server and host there were super warm and friendly, which ended our trip perfectly.

Every single dish we ordered was extremely deliciously. Service was very fast as well, which is surprising for a fish restaurant, especially one in Newfoundland. The manager, Justin, even came up to our table to ask us about our meal. Decor was pleasant and very clean and intentional. The view of the harbour was decent. Prices were a bit high for some dishes, but if you can afford it, go for it! It will definitely be worth it.

We went for the weekend brunch. It was not overly expensive for the selection and quality of the food served. Everything from eggs Benedict, to waffles, to a prime rib station to shark kebobs. Everything was delicious, hot and replenished very quickly if they had run out of it. Make sure you go very hungry, because you're going to want to try everything.

My wife and I shared a Captains Plate to try a variety of fishy offerings as well as a Lobster Mac n Cheese. Everything was delicious. My favorite part of the Captains Plate was the Halibut. A bigger portion then expected and cooked to perfection. Cant wait to go back and try something else. Any seafood lover will be in their glee with the ever changing specials and menu stalwarts awaiting a hungry stomach and tastebuds to tickle.

Had a great meal with friends. Like most restaurants in downtown St. John's I thought it was a little pricy for portion size. The meal was very tasty. The advise all sea food is fresh daily and the fillet the halibut on site. Not sure if it was the Newfoundland culture or the waitress but the service was slow through the evening considering we didn't sit until after 8pm. Staff was friendly. Would return.

Ultra fresh seafood!!! Took the team out for dinner here, had heard it is one of the places to go to in St. John's for seafood - was not disappointed at all. I travel to St John's Newfoundland every few months on business and everybody has been telling me to make sure I try this great restaurant out as when I got there the atmosphere was awesome and the restaurant looked amazing and an awesome place to eat some great food however the overall customer service experience was very poor and truly not a place if you are looking to receive absolutely outstanding guest service as I'm sure the food is awesome but I sat at the bar tonight waiting for almost 7 minutes for someone to even acknowledge me and finally had to walk away and give my money to another competitor that deserved the business. Truly businesses need to realize that there is competition out there and maybe not right now but in the future great service will rule as there is a lot of awesome food in this great City and not the experience I was looking for after all the recommendations of this place to try as I will ensure I tell everybody about this experience and truly not to waste their hard earned money on the overall opportunities in guest service this evening and spend it elsewhere. I eat at over a hundred restaurants a year and can choose any restaurant I want to eat at and this was a choice I was looking forward to but based on the overall service experience I will never come back nor will I refer anybody else as I'm sure the keg as even though it's a national chain would have consistency in their service most of all for customers. Not what I was expecting from a high-class restaurant.

First of all the décor and ambiance in this restaurant are beautiful. It's a perfect blend of modern utility with rustic charm, all balanced with small touches of traditional Newfoundland. Shrimp was tough (overcooked, maybe) but dish was decent. 2) fish and chips, nicely done, decent portion. 3) shrimp appetizer, morestly spicy, shrimp was tough and batter fried too much (brown, not golden), we sent it back. 4) crab/artichoke dip, decent dip served with corn tortilla chips 5) calamari appetizer, this was a decent dish. Would go again, but not really soon.

First off, this place DOES NOT ACCEPT RESERVATIONS FOR SMALL GROUPS!! Keep that in mind before deciding to go if it is on a holiday or weekend! :) They also don't offer calling you so you can't leave your number and go explore downtown. Me and a few friends chose the Fish Exchange for our reunion; I have been living away. I was blown away by this restaurant. Overall, the staff, the food, the atmosphere, and the drinks were superb. I was surprised to be honest because I have heard mix reviews from my friends, but I did not find anything wrong really. Service: the staff here are excel at their job. We were seated quickly. The waitresses were polite and fast, and I felt this is saying a lot because we were not an easy table. We took forever to order our food because we were to busy catching up, and there was a shift change during this time. However, the waitresses gave us plenty of time and did not push us to order at all. One girl did spill a bit of my drink on me, but it was an accident, and she was super apologetic; thus, I ma not taking any points of for this. Food: I had the Surf N Turf and my partner had a pasta special. Neither were on the main menu. The food was cooked perfectly. The flavors permeated the food, and there was not conflicting tastes. Nothing was over or under cooked. The presentation was nice too, but I did feel that my plate was a little small for my skewer. The atmosphere: Excellent again! I give full marks for this. The music was not too loud. The lights were dim, but to a point that allowed for privacy without any issues vision wise. Table spacing was pretty good too. I felt that I could see a few tables that seemed a little close, but ours was well places. Drinks: I had beer on tap. I was good, but you can't really say much about drinks based on it. My partner has a Dark and Stormy, which is actually a big drink in my house. It wasn't a traditional Dark and Stormy, but that is because of the presentation. They had it set up with liquor in a lime while on fire. It was aesthetical amazing, and it did not affect the flavor at all. Price-point: This price was not too bad. I mean, it is more expensive, but you should know that coming in to it. The money was worth the food and the service. All in all, I highly recommend this place! I will be back!

The best part about SJFX is the location and setting. The inside of the restaurant is beautiful, and the many windows offer excellent views of St. John's harbour. Unfortunately, the food is consistently disappointing, especially considering the cost. Everything we ate was remarkably average and unspectacular, which wasn't what hoped for at that price point. The shared public washroom was also a little off-putting. Overall, I feel like there are much better options for a nice meal downtown.

We went here while we were visiting from Ontario. Some of the negative reviews almost scared us off, but we are SO glad we went. Great location, and we managed to snag a window seat. They start you off with fresh bread and MAGICAL butter (salted caramel butter to be exact). I ordered the lobster (with Caribbean rum butter) and was pleasantly surprised with both the size of the lobster and the veggies it came with AND that the tomalley had be already been cleaned out for me. My boyfriend ordered the halibut. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals. The service, view and food were all amazing. We will definitely be back.

I appreciated the protocols that are in place including servers and all visible staff wearing masks, I am limiting dining out and won't be going to the high priced places downtown that aren't wearing masks. The service.was great, the food was great, the Caesar salad would be crispier if the romaine was torn instead of chopped, great meal, pleasant atmosphere and very professional. Get out people and support these guys and your other favorite places.

I come from a fishing family so I'm a little biased when it comes to seafood. In saying that the fish exchange is amazing. I've been here several times now and the food is always so tasty. I had the Newfoundlander with a side of seafood chowder on my last trip and everything was very tasty and fresh. The seasonings they use brought out the flavour of the fish, the cod tongues were cooked perfectly, and the crab cakes were the best I've ever had. The chowder was quite good as well, but my bowl was lacking assortment in it and was made up primarily of mussels (which also tasted great). We had the spinach and crab dip, and calamari (pictured) as appetizers which set the course for the night on fresh delicious seafood. Food was quick to come to the table, and was very hot when it arrived. We had to wait for a few minutes to let it cool so we could enjoy it. All the staff that night were very friendly and followed covid protocols. Our server was amazing and always ensured our drinks were topped up. Prices are fairly reasonable aside from some items that are expensive.

We called for reservations they said they were blocked solid but we could try to walk in so we did just that. We were the only table there another couple came about 20 mins later. When we left there was 3 other tables with people at them. The service was not that great. Not somewhere I’d rush back to that’s for sure.

The service staff were excellent but, unfortunately, could not do anything about the loud music because the manager was away and they did not have access to turning it down. We will not go back. There are a lot of good fish and chip places in St. John's where the music is kept at a reasonable volume.

Went there for dinner this evening. Ordered the stuffed chicken breast dinner with garlic mashed potato, and was very disappointed. The chicken breast was miniscule with very little stuffing. It was very dry and tasted like it was reheated. The roasted veggies were hard and tasteless. The only star on my plate was the garlic mash wich was good but nothing compared to the kegs. I will say that our server was excellent. While this is a sea food restaurant, any good chef should know how to cook chicken. For the price and quality I won't be returning any time soon.

Was very surprised we had to wait so long for a table when half were free and there were plenty of staff wandering around with nothing to do. I ordered the maple glazed salmon but I couldn't taste the maple. The butter on top was tasty but after eating half of my meal it felt heavy in my stomach from the grease. My friend ordered the seafood platter. The steak he had with it wasn't done as specified but more concerning was the tiny lobster tail that definitely wasn't legal. 5 star prices for mediocure food

The oyster house was much better. This place is upper class and the prices match. Tbh the entirety of Newfoundland is over priced because everything is shipped. This meal was one exactly like mainland Canada. Soooooo why buy seafood on the coast ?

It is a favorite restaurant in this area. I ordered fisherman feast. Lobster was good, but the rest of the sea food seemed to a bit over cook. I suggest to add a little bit more condiment to the $43 meal, a little more sauce, and bake/sautéed vegetables.

Went to Fish Exchange based on local recommendation. Atmosphere was good: modern with a touch of traditional St John’s. Unfortunately, the food did not follow suit. The menu was overwhelmingly and unnecessarily diverse. The lobster bisque and tune tartare starters were frighteningly mediocre. The tacos (which came recommended) were average at best. The brussel sprouts (also recommended) were just fine. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone as prices are based on a fine dining experience, which this is not. There are many other restaurants in St John’s that offer better for at lower prices. I would expect more from The Keg or Jack Astors than St John’s Fish Exchange. 3/5 is generous.

We went to the SJFX last night (party of four) and I have to say we were pretty disappointed. Starters were good, the crab and spinach dip a highlight. Three of us had the cod, which was chewy and did not taste fresh. The cod we had from Chess’s two nights previously was much nicer. The lobster and crab parpadelle was good, although not served with parpadelle, but just thick spaghetti. Server was busy. Didn’t check in much. Forgot to bring drinks we ordered, forgot to bring back sharing plates. We had to flag down someone else to refill our water. Maybe we just had a bad night, but It was a lot to pay for dinner when there seem to be better and cheaper other options Quick update. Had cod in two additional places on our trip, one of which was Foodland in deer lake (which we cooked ourselves). Both heaps better than SJFX. Maybe we had a bad night, but the fish we got was the worst we had on NFLD

Went here for supper with my family, the food and service were alright, nothing amazing. The portions were on the smaller side, but still enough. We shared the crab spinach dip and mussels for appetizers, both were excellent. We all agreed that a bread would have been a nicer accompaniment to the crap dip than nacho chips. Each of us chose a different dish so we all got to have a taste of each others. The halibut was cooked perfectly, however the seasoning was very salty, and marred the pleasure of the tasty fish. I had the cod tacos, they were ok, although I could've done without the batter on the cod. The atmosphere was nice and different, lots of large windows. The washroom was outside the restaurant and down a hall, kind of hard to find and inconvenient. The bathroom did not appear well maintained. Don't think I'll be rushing back here.

I had the 2 piece fish & chips. The pieces of fish were huge, crunchy, and delicious. It came with lots of homemade fries, peas, and some of the best 'dressing' I've had in decades. Service was fast and friendly.

My partner and I went to Fish Exchange for our anniversary and we had a wonderful time. The staff were excellent and the the food was amazing. We ordered appetizers, mains, and dessert. Each dish was fantastic and came out quite quickly! I would 100% recommend Fish Exchange to anyone who wants a top tier dining experience!

Not as advertised in my opinion. Serving portions are small. No real wow factor anywhere here. And it's weird for a pretty new building and restaurant that you actually have to leave the restaurant to go to the washroom. Bang for buck is low.

I tried the bar menu and the selection was decent and pricing very acceptable for the value of what you get. Food is delicious and portions are enough for how much one can it. The happy hour is one of the best in the city and the selection of beer is perfect. However, the service is a hit or miss, we sometimes get a super friendly and helpful waitress/waiter and other times someone that really doesn't want to be there which makes it hard to enjoy the evening.

We were very disappointed when we had made our dinner reservations requesting lobsters and was told they would have them. Got there they took our order only to be told that they ran out lobsters. This was at 5:30. We came from Vancouver bc to have lobster . They gave us very small lobster tails that I could get in Vancouver very bad experience.

Well we got there for a 6:30pm sitting and we never got our food till 9:00 and I am being kind because I know it was later than that I had to ask more than once for a beverage there was some kind of hot ???? spice on my steak which I should have been asked if I wanted because I cannot eat spicy food so that ruined my steak, I left half of my steak because there was just too much of some hot spice and it was not cooked enough asked for med well and it had blood running so it was definitely not cooked enough, by the time we got to order our food and finally got to eat it was after 9:00 we finally got to leave that place at 9:50 by the time we got our check and paid to which we should have gotten a discount for everything taking so long....longest place I have ever had to wait to get food and get out of the restaurant....from 6:30pm to 10:0pm....almost 4 hrs.....way to long....will not happen again!!! Especially for what we paid!! Not good at all!

The only positive thing I have to say is that the restaurants presentation and atmosphere was profound, also the server I had was very friendly. However, my fish and chips might have been the worst ive ever had from a restaurant, fish was bland and couldn't hold any flavor. Dressing tasted like ripped apart bread and nothing else and the fries were nothing special either. This restaurant for its over the top price to my opinion is not worth it.

I have yet to have a bad meal experience at SJFX and last night's experience is what pushed me to leave a 5-star review. While dining on the lower level a server accidentally broke a glass on the upper floor and some pieces fell on our table/seats. The servers were quick to come check on us, apologize, replace our drinks and items that could have had glass in them and immediately get the table cleaned up so we could resume our meal. Then to my surprise when the bill came they had comp'd all our drinks for the evening. It was a great way to handle an unfortunate accident and I can't say enough good about the experience. We just can’t get enough of this place. Best King Crab in St John’s and they cook a killer steak...perfect cut, sear and temperature every time! We’ve been to a few Morton’s steak houses in our travels and were regulars at Hy’s Steakhouse and Kobe’s in Vancouver before moving to NL and this place has greats cuts and cooks for sure. All salads are amazing...we’ve tried many appetizers and all delicious. Amazing fish and chips and the wife loves the cocktails here. Really everything here from the staff, atmosphere, food, drinks, safety protocols...perfect. You will need to call to reserve a table every time but definitely a must try in St John’s

I was in St. John's for a week (solo traveller) and this place came highly recommended by friends who had travelled/lived there. The food was delicious - I had the seafood platter and it was so fresh! The presentation of the food was also very impressive as well. They also had a wonderful selection of drinks. The staff were very friendly and often checked to make sure I was enjoying my meal. If you are in St. John's and like seafood - this place is a must!

Service started out great, the staff were friendly and welcoming, but after that the dinner went downhill. Once we ordered it took about an hour and a half to get out main courses. What was a little odd was that out salads and soups came out at exactly the same time as our mains. The food itself was good but frankly disappointing for the price. Most of the seafood was over priced and had a stark lack of flavour and seasoning. The lobster was the most disappointing, tasting as if it had been bathed in ammonia, we ended up not eating most of it. Would not go back again, very disappointed especially at the $30+ minimum for most dishes.

This is my 3rd time this summer and all 3 times the specials we chose sold out. Poor management. The food came out wrong and the 1 manager I'm guessing he was came to the table and said sorry for all the mix up and they wanted us to enjoy our meal and would do something to try and better the experience. Needless to say not 1 thing was done at all and better they tried to keep all change that would have been a 25% I had not asked for it. We still left a 15% tip even though the service was poor tonight and the lack of everything else to go along with it. The food was not bad but we'll over priced for what it was with the service we got and not even getting what we had wanted in the first place. DON'T GO.

The food was ok but not great. Service was great though. Lobster was bland, cod and halibut were good, salmon was cooked well but the seasoning was mediocre. The spinach and snow crab dip was disappointing. If there was crab in there it was very well hidden. It just tasted like cream cheese.

The food was fantastic! The atmosphere was great. The restaurant was fully booked but you can sit at the bar or opposite the bar that has tables that has a view of the chefs cooking the food. The service was really good too. I would recommend this restaurant.

We had what I think was called the Newfoundland Seafeast? A sample of cod, halibut, salmon, scallops, shrimp and a tiny lobster tail with garlic mashed potatoes and seasonal vegetables ( turnip, green beans and carrots), very delicious! It was a great atmosphere looking over the evening view of St. John's Harbour and our waitress was especially curious, what a great treat!

We were there earlier this week, and there was a bit of a wait (30 or 40 minutes), but we found room in the bar easily, so no big deal. The venue has great views, and we were seated right near the back windows which was a treat. The staff were friendly and while we were waiting at the bar, they checked on us frequently. We certainly didn't want for attention! The wine selection was good...I wish they would have had a california cab sauv by the glass, but it was easy to pick another As the other people have posted, it is pricey. Don't go expecting a cheap dinner special! The food, however, was excellent and we don't mind paying for a great meal. We had the cod cheeks and some oysters to start. All were fresh and well prepared. Two of us then had the halibut topped with an apple chutney and roasted pecans. It was more than I would have expected to pay for halibut, but it was probably the best-prepared I have ever had. It was thick, perfectly done and the seasonings accompanied it beautifully...not overpowering...and the pecans were a nice and crunchy addition! I would never have thought of mixing those with a fish dish. My husband had the cod with chanterelles, with was less expensive and very tasty. My daughter's salmon was also very well done. Only wee issue....for some reason one of our halibut dishes was lacking it's kale side dish. That wasn't a problem for us, but the kitchen might want to increase its oversight on the plates before they of out. The servings were substantial, and we had no room for dessert, unfortunately. Overall, would recommend ithis highly!
