We've been to the ruffins pet store for many years we had made several purchases, On April 13th 2018 We made a bad choice to get a ferret we were told that the ferret bites and so we thought we could handle a little nip or two that wasn't the case we left the ferret for a couple days and we started to play with it giving the thought the thing would bite well it drew blood on my children face hands and such i called today April 18th 2018 and told Mary the store manager what was going on and she said we could only get 50% of the money and i said WHAT!!! we paid 299.99 with tax that came to 338.99 price total...i was so mad i could've just said more then being polite so i came home a used the computer to complain to the better business Bureau i want to warn that this place is bad for looking after there animals and don't have patience and being rude the helper that took the ferret got bitten as well and he grabbed the ferret by the neck like choking it we won't be shopping there ever again...

Bought a new male beta fish. The lady behind the counter was the first person to tell me not to put into tank right away. Put some of tank water into container that fish is in now and wait 24 hrs. The others never told me that and I am in my 6th beta over 4 years.

I want to begin this review by stating that I have previously been to Ruffin's pet stores and have had wonderful experiences however my recent visit was not so pleasant. My fiancé and I have recently been shopping around at different pet stores in search of a new animal. This week we were in the store where we were greeted with a sharp glare that pierced through my soul and gave me a malignant tumour. We then made our way back to the animal cages where a worker rudely told us to move and after we said we were sorry he hissed at us and grunted. I pity each of the animals that have to get handled by this rude man/woman and I will not be visiting this location again.

Needs to know more about small animal care the cages and advise they give is outdated and outside small animals in danger. Hamsters alone need a min of 450 square inches of unbroken floor space and never use pine shavings

Worst customer service EVER. I came in yesterday to buy 4 fish and was treated ridiculously. The girl helping me could not catch the fish and I had a taxi waiting. She made zero effort to try and hurry, had no knowledge about the different fish and their temperaments and never offered to go get help. She also almost killed one of the fish in the process. I then decided to go with 5 from another tank to make it easier for her, despite they weren't the ones I wanted. One died when I got it home. I was very disappointed, so I returned today to purchase the 4 I originally wanted and was told NO.... because she would "never catch them" because the other girl couldn't yesterday and guilted me by stating one almost died in the process yesterday. I said that's very disappointing because those are the 4 I would like to purchase today and she THEN told me... these are actually display fish and not for sale? Fish on display in a pet store... not for sale???? Right in with all the other tanks... and prices underneath it? I said okay, I guess I'll just go somewhere else. She then rudely said "sorry" and walked away. No effort to assist, make a sale, ignorant attitude, terrible customer service. All this while she was busy scooping dead fish out of other tanks. Not even an offer for the dead fish she sent me home with that I paid for? Myself, family and friends will never shop here again and I WAS a regular shopper. She also seemed quite rude to a special needs employee asking for some assistance.
