Been coming here for decades consistently delicious fish and chip the halibut is excellent. I can honestly say I’ve never had a bad order. It’s the type of place where regulars come and they come for a reason! Traditional fish and chip shop excellent meat pies, haggis, mushy peas, Scottish bread, deep fried Mars bars, sticky toffee pudding. Friendly waitresses and fast service. Love it here because it’s old school!

Absolutely disgusted by the quality of food I received. I ordered a meal via Ubereats. I ordered the haddock fish, sticky toffee pudding and a medium sized gravy. The only thing acceptable was the gravy ( that being said, I wouldn't recommend it unless you like heavy salted foods)...The haddock fish was very small in comparison to the last few times I have ordered and the sweet potato fries did not seem fresh at all. BUT the really kicker was when I opened up the container that had my sticky toffee pudding. I wanted to throw up. At first I thought the coating was mold. Soon after I realized that it was placed in the container in a very awkward manner. I then proceeded to look at the other side and noticed that a massive chunk was missing from it. I was so turned off by it. Shame on you for serving this to a customer. I know that this wasn't on the uber driver's end because the bag was stapled. St. Andrews Fish and Chips is already pretty expensive as is, but on top of that I paid a delivery fee with ubereats. This is not the first time I have had problems with this restaurant. The last time I received my sticky toffee pudding ice cold! I didn't complain and I thought I would give them another chance. I guess that was MY mistake. Needless to say I won't be spending another dime with this restaurant. Ubereats isn't for every restaurant....

Ordered takeout since at that time, dining in wasn't allowed. Prices are reasonable. I ordered halibut with fries and a side order of coleslaw. The fish was cooked perfectly. Soft in the inside. The batter wasn't too much or too little. I was super impressed with the fries though. Not over done, some were crispy, some were nice and soft, just a nice mixture. The coleslaw, I was happy I ordered a medium, because it was good. Even had leftovers the next day. I'll admit, the tartar sauce was probably my favourite of everything, but it could be because it's been awhile since I've had some, but it was super good. I got the right amount for my meal as well as it lasted until my last bite of fish. When I first got home and took the package out, I thought it wasn't going to fill me but once I was finished, I was fully stuffed. Stuffed enough that I didn't wanna eat any more fish and chips for awhile. I will definitely be back, hopefully to dine-in one day. This place is definitely one of the top fish and chips places in Toronto. Highly recommended.

I was expecting something better for the price. If you like a lot of breading on your fish, then you'll like this place. Everything is deep fried and very greasy, as in it is exceptionally greasy. The staff were very nice and did a good job. Sadly, this does not make up for the mediocre food.

This place was by far the best place for fish and chips in Scarborough. However the last few visits the fish and poutine portions seem a lot smaller. Poutine is not filled up like before , it's also more money so it's a little aggravating. Also fish doesn't seem properly cooked.

Great service and even tastier food available at this restaurant. The haddock and chips are cooked fresh upon order, and the portion sizes are well worth the prices. Finally Me and my husband got the chance and decided to order takeout today. The service was great. However, the fish was so heavily breaded, it looked like a big piece of fish but 30% inside was empty, like breaded shell. I opened the package right after we received, the fries were so soggy and huge. It was disappointed honestly.

Food tastes good but for $15 you get 2 tiny pieces of halibut & about 12 fries underneath. I'm Scottish so I tried this place but in my experience, they usually overflow the container with fries to fill the person up seeing as they're so cheap, but here they treat them as if they're literally made of gold.

The food taste good but the portion not that good for the price this is what forty five dollers will get you three pieces of fish and a box of fries everything fit in one box. Half the fish was just batter. Literally took bites of just batter. Almost finished and found a hair in my fish so disappointed normally really good. Have been coming here for over twenty years and this is first time not happy! Wonder if it is new owners. The staff was pleasant and very prompt.

As a big lover of fish and chips this place disappoints me. I ordered the halibut platter. The order came and my halibut wasnt even in there. The fries taste like some cheap gmo garbage and leave a chalky taste in your mouth. The shrimp and scallops were SOOO greasy that i almost puked. I can see this place was quite good at one time but it definitely is not now. Hiding behind its good reviews of the past. Don't eat there. I suspect another chinese investor has thought they would buy a fish and chips place thinking they can keep it authentic. A common trend across the gta with fish and chips restaurants. I always wanted to try St. Andrews Fish & Chips! I've seen so many good reviews and many of my friends and family have recommended this restaurant to me. I literally live across the street, so it's about time I checked this place out! I came on a Good Friday and the place was filled with patrons! I was lucky came at the right time as one table just asked for the bill and I managed to score a table within 5 minutes. I opted for the 3 course meal. I felt like it was a good choice seeing it was Good Friday. The fish was really good and definitely the highlight of the meal!. Light crispy batter and tender fish. You can never complain about haddock though. This was the first time I had tried Scottish fish n chips and felt fully satisfied. I also really enjoyed the Scottish bread as well! It complimented the meal very well! The staff were warm and friendly and made my visit special. One thing to note is If you are in a hurry consider getting your order to go. The restaurant has a convenient take out window located in the front of the store. So if you can't dine in you can definitely get the tasty fish on the run! I can't wait to be back for some more fish and chips! ????

Hidden gem in Scarborough. Ordered from Door Dash. Fish was great! GRAVY was the best homemade gravy I've had in my life. The Fries are a different potato than the standard potato most mom and pop shops use. Only face four stars because I requested my fries to be super well done however they were not. I will be in to visit -in moderation of course. Keep up the amazing cooking!

Excellent Halibut! Very nice big piece of white meat fish. Fries are nice and crispy too! If they have it, their deep fried Mars bar is heavenly just order it! Friday early evening is rush hour there so avoid as a lot of experienced folks come there to eat early.

Came to try out their fish and chips from an article I saw saying they were open for 35 years, and they had pretty good reviews. I was pretty disappointed with what I got, especially for the amount of money I had paid. I ordered the cod and chips - the cod wasn't bad, but the 2 pieces were pretty small. The chips were average, I had to eat them with a lot of gravy to be able to finish them. Really disappointed with the tartar sauce - it was not homemade, just those little packets that tasted pretty bad. The only good thing about the meal was the gravy. For the $15 I paid, I could have gotten better fish and chips from a bar, and a more filling portion.

I ordered the Halibut platter that came with shrimp and scallops. The halibut was great but the 2 shrimp and 2 scallops were meh. Some of the fries were also old or rotten because it had a sour rotten taste to them.

The first time food was excellent, but second time the fries were over cook and about 30% of it were simply burnt! I was quite disappointed as this was a takeout and I can’t just come back to exchange fries. Also, they are so stingy/frugal with the tartar sauce . Only two small packets .

We are frequent customers of fish and chips ! The fish is absolutely delicious and fresh each time. However, the french fries were a major disappointment today. It tasted at least a day old and when i called in the to report this, Emma told me it was cut fresh in the morning. Sad as I did not want a refund nor to bad mouth anyone but just to make them aware that clients can taste the difference between fresh cut potatoes versus that which stood over to the next day. They lost a loyal customer today because I trust my taste buds! Stay safe.

I've been going here for ages. The food ranges from 4-5/5 depending on time, how busy it is. The decor reminds me of a mix between a club house from the late 80s and a Legion Hall. The staff is always a delight. I'm partial to the pickled beats. Closed Sundays (a fact which I've forgotten on many enthusiastic Sunday morns), and their hours are a bit odd.

I have been going to St. Andrews for 25 years they have amazing food and staff. In these times with Covid I am frequenting the store more often they have been busy the food is always hot and fresh. I had fish and chips at my cousin's fish and chip place a few months back and really in comparison wasn't that good now I know why she prefers to drive over here to eat at St. Andrews.

I've always wanted to try this fish and chips place for years. I decided to come by on Good Friday for lunch. The place was quite busy and I understand why. Got haddock and chips and cod fish chips dinners. Well I can say WoW. The haddock was very tasty and the batter had a nice crisp to it. The cod fish was also very good, nice and fresh. I will definitely be back to try other fish on the menu and it won't take me years next time.

The food was absolutely garbage. Waited 40 minutes for my order, brought it home and not only was it cold but the fish was soggy. It was stuck to the fries and fell apart when I tried to pick it up and put it on my plate. The fries tasted old and were not cooked in the middle. The deep fried Mars bar tasted like fish oil. First and last time I will be eating here. So disappointing.

Had take out here and they made me wait 25 mins even when they aren't even busy for greasy food, very oily, batter wasn't constant, same size fries were even different in colour, the halibut was over cooked. Pricey for mediocre food. Place is really outdated and lighting is poor. Can't recommend this place to anyone.

Just ordered through Skip the Dishes. I've ordered from here before: first time was amazing, second time it was clear that dirty oil has been used. I like to use the three strike rule. So, today. The fish (cod in this case) and shrimp were spot on amazing. Very fresh, batter wasn't to much, portions were generous. The shrimps were immaculately clean, and very large sized. However, the scallops? We're so sandy it was like I had gone to the beach and started eating shovel fulls. The flavour wasn't awful but the texture was so gritty and grainy I couldn't stomach them. I will probably order from here again. The flavour of everything else was fine, and the portions are good. But I hope they address the issue with the scallops, because I would love to give this spot a 5 star review.

UPDATE Don’t bother ordered online at all. They can’t get the order right, then just say “sorry we didn’t see it, but it’s not like we charged you for condiments to go with your meal”. CHECK YOUR ORDER at the restaurant and DONT ORDER ONLINE. Don’t even bother ordering from their idiots with skipthedishes; they don’t even know how to connect to the internet apparently according to skipthedishes. Had to drive down to pickup my food such a pain; this restaurant needs to get with the times.

For my first experience here is was pretty awesome ????????.... the restaurant is easy to locate and there is free and available parking also very close to public transportation..., the service is very homely and friendly.... the food is served hot and fresh ..., I had the lunch special which was a COD fish with a Caesar salad which cost me a dollar more because I didn’t want fries with my meal yet the portion of salad was smaller than if I had gotten actual fries .... next time put the salad on a separate plate especially if u are paying extra for it ????????????‍♀️........,the fish was heavily breaded and I had a hard time actually getting to the fish meat itself .... the price was decent and the washrooms were pretty clean ... I didn’t notice a kids menu and I’m not sure if they serve any kind of desserts... either way I was happy for the experience

Best fish & chips around. Many choices on their menu. Owners and staff are wonderful and caring. I have lived in this area for 30 years, so I have been coming here since about 27 years now. People I know who have moved away from Scarborough still travel back to enjoy another meal at St. Andrews Fish and Chips.

Fish n chips was good. Not too oily. I called ahead and they had my order ready. Gave a good quantity of condiments like ketchup, vinegar and tartar sauce (unlike some other places). The food taste and quality was any day better than Halibut House (Danforth Avenue). Two thumbs up!

The Halibut and Chips are on point but the fish portion was pretty small. Also little disappointed that place with such good reviews and product doesn't make their own Tartar sauce - getting a pre-made packet just ruins it.
