I work across the street from this place. I get their lunch special about 3-4 times a month. It's great. For under $6 I am full. I am 6'2 and 220lbs so I have a big appetite. It's not super fancy but a great option when you want some greasy delicious food.

Went here with friends because of a fish and chips craving. I actually don't like fish very much, but I loved the food here and ate the whole thing (usually can only handle a few bites of fish), it was that good. I've even started coming here once a week for lunch. A huge fan! I would say though that the lunch special (Alaskan fish) isn't as nice as the haddock/halibut, but the price is nice ($6).

We asked the restaurant to cater a family dinner for 50 people today. The owners were very accommodating and everyone raved about the haddock and fries dinner, including the coleslaw. The haddock was a big piece with a light thin batter; not oily at all! My Place definitely knows how to make fish and chips and we will order again and recommend to friends and family.

This location is a Gem literally feels and taste like grandmas kitchen it is nice to take a break from fast food and go to a Diner like this. Recently I had turned vegetarian/pescatarian and was looking for a meal that I can get while being out or just not feeling like cooking I PROMISE YOU, YOU HAVE TO TRY THEIR HALIBUT SANDWICH IT LITERALLY TASTE LIKE A MCDONALDS CHICKEN NUGGET BURGER LOL BUT IS MADE WITH ALL FISH ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC. Went there after a recommendation from my Brothers Coworker. Pros:- -This place looks different and has an amazing decor with all the scottish memorabilia and fish facts. -Went there in Snow so it was mostly empty. There are lot of seats and good amount of space. -The Halibut and Haddock were both amazingly cooked with Crispy layer.The best i have ever had in Toronto so far. -Fresh and thick Chips .Even Cold crunchy ones tastes amazing with Coleslaw. -Great tasting creamy coleslaw with Shrimp and Scallops(Both Greasy) complementing the fish. - Coffee tasted dark ,fresh and great. Cons:- The only downside i could find is the service which is why i am giving 4 stars. The person who served us seemed dry and wanted to get it over with and did not check on us for refills at all. They looked understaffed as there was only one cook and one waitress. There were no greeting or smile from any of them and cook acted as a cashier as well. Update : On second visit ,the person who served us was jolly and engaging . Great service with a smile. Updated to 5 stars. Other than that ,i recommend it for fish and chips.

The Halibut and Fries was great. The portion size was good and the batter was excellent. The price was a little steep and bordered on removing whatever value there is in the meal. The meal is comparable to similar restaurants. I have to add that the fresh tartar sauce would change everything. The packaged sauce is disappointing. I recommend My Place for some decent takeout. I will go again.

Love the fish and chips here! I used to drive an hour north of Toronto to get good fish like this. So happy I found this place only 10 minutes away. It's very lightly coated and not greasy like other places. The fish is quality Halibut. The fries are great too!

Family style restaurant; had halibut and chips for lunch, $12.00 a portion. Freshly fried chips and fish, delicious! Tartar sauce came in packets, no big deal, but it would've been nice to have them in little saucers.

A good change from the Swiss Chalet down the street. Inexpensive fish, quiet, and FAST. But not much variety in the menu, and only cole slaw for vegetables. We didn't try the haggis appetizer; doesn't sound very appetizing. Parking is impossible.

This innocuous out of the way strip mall houses the best fish and chips place in Toronto. My Place Fish and Chips has exactly what you would expect - delicious deep fried fish in a light golden batter and excellent fries. The batter style is not a typical British beer batter but lighter almost tempura-like coating that beautifully accents the fresh fish. My partner and I had the halibut platter and the haddock platter. The platter is a great deal as it comes with 3 deep fried shrimp and 3 breaded scallops. The portions are generous. If you are not feeling up to it, order the fish with "few fries". Family run establishment with low key decor. Great value for money....they have Irn Bru as a bonus. If you know what it is - it makes the place more "authentic".

Ordered halibut fish and chips I understand there are issues since the pandemic but this fish was gross and the chips tasted off I phoned to complain and they basically said the price for halibut has gone up so much they're giving some other fish but saying it's halibut that's the last time I'm going there and they never even offered a refund

Good fish and chips place that's been offering takeout during this whole lockdown, and some takeout discounts for it as well. The halibut and chips is a generous portion with a good amount of fish and lots of chips, if you want less chips get the halibut and some chips instead. The platters with shrimp and scallops are good as well, and they've got all the typical foods you'd find at a fish and chips shop. Only negative of say is that they use generic packets of tartar sauce, a homemade/store made sauce would be better. Takeout can be busy at dinner times, so you can call ahead.

Amazing hidden gem. Had the halibut and chips. The fish was perfectly cooked. Light airy thin style batter (not the kind that is all batter and little fish). The fish (halibut) was amazingly flakey and juicy (not greasy). The chips were perfect and obviously cut in house. Choice between packet tartar or from a bottle (bottle was great). Appears family run and thus amazing pride in putting out quality food. 10/10 will do again. This is now my go to for fish and chips in this area.

Quaint little restaurant with tasty food. The service was good, and I would likely order from here again. However, we found it odd that the Halibut platter which includes one piece of halibut, chips, 2 scallops, and 4 shrimp (we also ended up with 2 clam strips each as well) did not come with a coleslaw, but the next menu item down which was just Halibut and chips did come with a coleslaw. Not the biggest issue, but what's fish n chips without coleslaw?? Overall, a good meal.

We ordered two family size meals. The halibut and fries. It was pretty good. Whole family liked it. Tasted a bit greasy but that's totally how is supposed to be. Fries were nice and thick but also crunchy. Calamari wasn't really good though, wouldn't recommend it. Stick to the fish and chips

It’s not halal, I asked them And they use animal fat in the oil. They don’t cook only in vegetable oil and they use animal fat. Not good for Muslims.

Good tasty food, sadly you don't exactly get what you are paying for when it comes to the amount given. Though to be far it is freshly made to order to a degree the blood pudding is imported tasting doesn't taste fresh at all nor does the haggis.

was in the mood for fish n chips. came across this place since we happen to be in the area. At the time of our visit, the staff on hand were quite attentive. Seems to also be a tad cheaper than other fish n chip restos. Wife and I shared a chef salad and the Haddock Platter. We were satisfied with our meal. I enjoyed the shrimps and scallops, wife really liked the haddock. Our only irk, was the tartar sauce we in packets and not made in house or at least bottled. Worth it for repeat visits.

Scottish themed fish and chips place at the border of Scarborough and North York. Under new management but they seemed to have maintained the menu from the original owners. One of the few places in the city where you can get an old school fish sandwich (Halibut). Decent pricing for fish and chips platters. Also have chicken offerings for those not into fish.

Used to be a decent fish and chip spot until they replaced their tartar sauce with some homemade gross tasting mayo mix.... Worst Tartar sauce I’ve ever tasted. Half the time the debit machine doesn’t work and the lady will blame you saying “your card has been compromised and has broke my machine, goto the TD bank in the plaza and get cash” rather than call their Credit machine vendor support and fix the problem with her machine she will force you to goto TD bank and pay her cash.... will not return after the last experience

Ordered through uber eats and asked for extra tartar sauce for the halibut. Boy did they deliver! Huge portions and great quality for the halibut chips coleslaw and gravy. The fish and chips were pretty good, however i would prefer a non-profit breaded, non-deep-fried fish option, which is not offered. They seemed pretty busy when we were there, especially with takeout. Busy is always a great sign in a restaurant. Decor is quite outdated, if that matters to you.

Best Fish and Chips restaurant in Toronto. I like the option of "some chips" rather then a lot of chips. Fish comes golden battered. Although deep fried, it's not overly greasy. Staff are great. We've never had to wait for a table except for Friday's at dinner time. Highly recommend. ☆☆☆☆☆

The Best Fish n' Chips around, reminds me of the time growing up, where you get your fish n chips in a newspaper cone, the pace is not fancy or the menu branches out, it's fish and chips done the old way, the best way. Absolutely disgusting people that work there. I ordered a halibut and fries and went home to eat it and it was completely dry I found hair in my food too. I called the store to let them know because it wasn’t edible and I said I would bring it back to them and they said no worries just come in for the refund. I went back in for the refund a few days later and they they gave my half the money back and told me I am never allowed back into there restaurant.again. Horrible service if I could put negative five star I definitely would.

Amazing. Got the lunch special & a coke for under $9 tax included. Very good portion of fish and fries, and both were extremely tasty. Super friendly service and they give you a bottle of tartar sauce so you can have as much as you want. Definitely check it out if you are in the area

My top choice for fish n chips in Scarborough. No other places compare in Scarborough. I always get good consistent food and service here. I wouldn't bother going anywhere for fish n chips nowadays because of all my horrible experiences at other fish n chips places, especially B & B fish n chips on Queen street. The fries here are so crispy and delicious. The batter used on the fish is light and flaky and just awesome. Every time I have a lousy fish n chips in Toronto/Ontario/Earth I can't wait to go back to My Place for a proper halibut and chips.

I ordered their Halibut and chips. I like to support small businesses, and I understand with COVID and all but for 2 small pieces of halibut and stale fries - it is overpriced! Their fries felt and tasted like they have been sitting on the table for hours. The halibut was small and dry. If you are looking for an authentic fish & chips joint, go to HIGH STREET on Underhill.

This place serves fish and chips. When you walk in, you'll see a lot of old memorabilias. I heard that it used to be run by a white family and they retired so now a chinese family runs this place. If you want to try this place at a reasonable price, you must get their lunch special. The batter is perfectly crusted and it comes with fries. They will also give you packets of tartar sauce to use when you eat your filet. The place is old but that's the charm of it. You are transformed into being on a seaside nova scotia restaurant in the heart of toronto. You will find a lot of old seniors here eating their fish and chips.

Got the Halibut + Chips from there for the first time because of the positive reviews I saw on here. Unfortunately, this place had a near-perfect mix of everything wrong, and is the worst fish+chips I've ever tried. I sincerely hope this isn't how they usually taste, and perhaps today was just an off day, but won't be returning to waste time+money verifying that. - the batter and fish were bland--the actual portion of fish inside the batter was also barely noticeable; - chips seemed under-cooked, they had the texture and taste of raw potato; and - the tartar sauce packet was awful, it tasted too sweet and had no other flavor (they also charge 5cents/ketchup-sized packet, if you need extra). The only positive factor from this place was that the service was good; the lady at the front was friendly and helpful, and the food was prepared expediently--but I would rather have waited an hour for better tasting food. All in all, this place has nothing on Olde York Fish and Chips on Laird (they also have better value for the quantity+quality of food) maybe I shouldn't bother trying new places. Even The Pickle Barrel serves a better Fish and Chips!!?!???

I had the pleasure of eating the halibut and salad at this restaurant and I had the order to go .... by the time I got home the food was fresh but the fish was mostly batter not too much meat ... wasn’t pleasant cause the portion is really big but when u get into the food for 20 bucks it’s not worth it health wise.... the restaurant is other wise clean and neat the customer service is great

I have tried the halibut and chips a few times here and always enjoy the crispy light batter they use on their fish. I am not a huge fan of their chips as I often find them slightly underdone. My preference is for a crisper chip. Price is okay and portion size is fine.

Went to "My Place" to get Halibut... Halibut was on the menu... I paid for Halibut. When I got home, it was certainly not Halibut. Looks like they might be selling cod instead. Beware of this place. You do NOT get what you pay for. Found other reviews complaining of this very thing, so it was not a one-time mistake. Shame.

As a person from Aberdeen, Scotland. Been hard to find me self a shop where they have black pudding and haggis. They have meat pies not authentic to real meat pie but still good. As well their chips and fish are damn good battered fried properly. While they did have trouble me understanding Scottish accent they still took me order.

Very disappointed at the SMALL portion size and HIGH price for a take-out dinner of Halibut & Chips. This used to be our go-to location for British fish and chips but it is simply too expensive for the amount of fish you receive now. Restaurant also has a really run-down vibe to it. Will not be returning.
