Zero stars because they sold me a dead fish and wouldn’t replace it because feeders aren’t warrantied. And they were rude on top of it. No apologies whatsoever. Lots of other and better pet stores with good service in the area so avoid this one. I spent $75 here earlier today and they wouldn’t give me a new 49 cent fish.

Went in for bulk pet food but it was empty. When I politely asked if there was some in the back a young lady said she didn't want to go back there, that there was too much to go through. She told me to grab a bag of food. This was the first time this has happened. I just figured maybe if had she should have re-worded her reply I wouldn't think that she is being lazy and not helpful.

This location has friendly employees, and a lot of options for animals of all types. I also appreciate that they work with local shelters to get cats adopted. I usually shop here for my own two cats, but unfortunately I will not visit again until the pandemic is over do to the lack of Covid-19 protection for customers. On the day that I visited, only half of the workers were wearing masks and those without masks did not social distance while speaking with us.

We always have wonderful service, they take good care of the rescues they have in store, handle returns effectively, help with pet adoptions, and the options for pet food are excellent. You'll pay a bit more than Walmart or other bargain places but they have better quality and a wider range of options. We go there frequently and have never had a problem!

Literally just had the worst customer service I've ever experienced from the woman working in the aquatic center. Unbelievably rude. I came in and bought four feeder fish and some food, and when I was walking around the woman working in the aquatic center asked me what I was looking for and I told her, feeder goldfish and a plant for my Betta tank. I pointed to the fish tank beside the Bettas, containing said goldfish, after explaining because I knew for sure I needed those fish. She then remarked, "you mean Betta fish?" In a very snobbish manner. I said no and said the fish beside it and she then asked me what I was feeding them to. It told her I'm not, and they were to filter a new tank faster and she just said oh, gave me my fish and left. So much for the plant. I was uncomfortable and felt unwelcomed at this point, so I was in a hurry to leave and by the time I got home, my step-mom pointed out one was dead. I understand these are cheap fish but she sold me a dead fish. So we hopped in the car and went back. We walked in and in explained what happened only for her not to not say a word to us, throw out the fish and proceeded to go ahead getting us a new one not saying a word. My step-mom asked if we could have two for being sold a dead one and having to come all the way back. She said no, again in a snarky tone and that she'd have to charge us. So we asked for a manager and the manager didn't greet us or anything, she just came up and said no warranty! They're cheap fish so we don't put a warranty in them. She didn't even say hello, or ask us what was up. By far THE WORST service I've ever had.

My daughter's and I went here to buy a Hamster and a land reptile for bday gifts. We were lucky to have known a lady we haven't seen or heard from in years (Amanda), who was very knowledgeable in what we were looking for. ~ The Hamster she referred came with a cage and temp bedding ????, was decently priced. She then took us to the back and had shown us an Anole. We ended up getting both. Amanda even made sure we had everything we needed for these pets before leaving the store. She seemed to know most everything we needed and asked for. A great pet shopping place with great workers. All were kind and friendly! They / she even calls / called 2 days after taking the pets home, just to make sure everything went & is going good with the pets. Very caring and nurturing employees ! ~ Don't go here if you expect to just pick up an animal with everything it needs, unless you can prove you have everything it needs at home, otherwise you will have/need to buy it all at once. We were pleased with our visit and happy with what we left with, so we're the birthday children ????!

I went to purchase fish and had many questions buuut the answers I got back weren't the ones I wanted or needed, because the staff barely knew anything about fish and any other pet for that matter, very disappointing visit,and the prices were outrageous. There is always a lot of parking here which is nice. The staff are very friendly, and actually know what they are talking about. They have an awesome selection of cat and dog foods! You can also buy bulk cat litter so that's a nice feature. I went here a few days ago and there were a couple cats here, birds, degus, hamsters, rabbits, and lots of fish and reptiles. I enjoyed looking at the animals thoroughly.However I wasn't too impressed with their selection of cat trees. They weren't very well made, and they were incredibly expensive for their sizes. I ended up buying one at Pet Valu in Kensington for only $180 and was a very good size, as well as stable! Other than that though I like Petland.

Signed up for dog training class....and it was cancelled....the store did not notify me about the cancellation and then gave me an issue when I wanted my money back!! Good grief! Also had said dog into the "salon" for a haircut....brutal. I can do better at home, I guess you get what you pay for!

Decent prices and can always find parking. Staff is friendly and always helpful. If the person you're talking to doesn't know the answer, they don't fake their way through it and will try to find another staff member to help. Great selection of cat food and treats, tons of canadian-made choices. Many choices for our cat who has a very sensitive stomach. Carrie's many foods not carried elsewhere in the city.

Terrible customer service! Bought a full terrarium set and noticed on my bill was charged for two XLG water dishes. Clearly there is one in the terrarium. Refused to refund my money and basically called me a liar. Emailed head office to see if I can get my money back. I will never shop at petland again!

Clingy sales representative all too eager to make a sale implied they were to receive a commission, making disingenuous of much instigation on their parts. The prices seemed to only limit obtaining the minimum products required to maintain a healthy pet above the lower income bracket. I love this red eared slider, which I must acknowledge was not acquired at Petland.

I have been a regular customer for many years. Staff are always helpful. I tend to buy the same food and treats but they will point me to the sale items which are good deals and I'm all for some extra treats and toys at a good price.

While the store is clean and stocked I find many products at Petland are ridiculously over priced. They do however price match. A product they sell is $48.97 and a local competitor sells the EXACT same product for $29.97. $19 difference!!

I enjoyed my experience here. We went in to see some of the pets. Due to Covid there are certain restrictions. We ended up spending most of the time with the birds. The staff was knowledgeable and had personal stories to the questions we were asking. This showed their passion for the animals and how to make the pet you choose the best one for you. I apologize for not remembering the lady's name that helped us because she definitely deserves the positive recognition.

Thay definitely know there stuff unlike the other petstores. Everyone is normally nice and happy to help. The one down side of this store is the high price on pet care objects. I've been getting my fish from there for 5 years now and the fish always look good and healthy when I get them home.

I grew up around MANY Breeding pairs of rabbits as my parents bred Lion Heads. And was TAUGHT RESPECT OF the Animal and its fragility. And this store INFURIATES Me!! Why are there NEVER any employees stationed around the rodent pens? EVERYTIME I am in this store there are UNSUPERVISED Children grabbing and picking up the rabbit kits (like any child would because they are irresistibly adorable) and sometimes even the birds in their open cases as well, in a Very Rough Mauling Manner. Squeezing them and holding them only by their ribcage or stomach's No Support whatsoever in handling these babies. Especially when they can DIE OF FRIGHT!! This is not by ANYMEANS they Childrens FAULT but the PARENTS for leaving their children unattended aswell as the EMPLOYEES lack of Supervision over open cases animals and their wellbeing. Its UNACCEPTABLE for an Establishment who "SUPPOSEDLY" Has KNOWLEDGE on these animals. Dont bother leaving an EXCUSE REPLY. Or saying you already do supervise. I'll only believe it when I see someone stationed in that area I am in here on a regular basis and have NEVER SEEN anyone teaching children the proper way of handling ANY SMALL ANIMAL

I would never buy any animals from there as they were obviously not cared for properly. The cages were unkept and way smellier than they should have been and animals looked unwell. Place was filthy. No one seemed interested in helping me even though I looked at employees directly and was standing in same spot for over 10mins.

The woman who claims to be the fishroom manager has horrible customer service skills and argues with you when you have your own opinion. She seems to not have proper knowledge, except for what is written in their pamphlets. I was looking at getting a black more fish (just one) and was told I’d need atleast a 50 gallon tank for just one, because it would grow big enough to fill the tank, and was advised to not put anymore fish in the tank with it. Also, recently purchased a beta fish, and it died with in less then the first 12 hours. I went in to return it for another one, and was very rudely addressed by fish management, and was told it was my improper care and lack of knowledge that caused the fish to die and she had to make sure to give me another pamphlet and a speech about proper fish care, even though I did everything correct (according to the pamphlet they hand out). This is not my first time owning fish.

The main reason I go to a pet store is to buy crickets and they're the closest to my house. I will purposely drive across the city because their crickets are terrible. They're pre-packaged in containers that are usually already half dead and the rest of them rarely last the week. They often don't even have any in stock. I definitely recommend going elsewhere where you pay per cricket and they're all alive. Other than that I have no issues with this store. Everyone is nice and helpful.

Very helpful, good workers juts peronaly don't like petlands methods for animal adoption. The "info" they provide is basic, just barely enough info to ensure you can't sue if anything goes wrong. Definitely look online and research your animal before adopting!

Joshua told us about the foods that Petland sells that helps with these issues (while also recommending a vet visit). We are so incredibly disappointed. We bought two budgies, apparently their wings were supposedly clipped. We got them home, and 2 months later the door was open and one flew out. It flew high and fast, we tried retrieving it, but we didn't have a hope. They should not tell people that these birds don't fly. Because yes they do. Now there's only one bird, he lost his companion, and we lost our companion as well.

It was great. The last time I visited pet land, I got locked in a cage by the employees with a cat by the name of nox. Hes a great kitty, tho I kinda wish the employees didnt forget about me... either way, I'm not complaining. Nox was a very derpy and beautiful kitty and I got a bunch if photos of him with his tongue sticking out. 10/10 would get imprisoned again

Worst experience ever - I will never go back. I used to take my cat in to get his claws done, it was nearby and the price was right. This time, they took us into the grooming room which was stuffed full of things with no room to move. Another worker was cleaning out a ferret cage, and there was a bird cage and a hamster cage, both with animals inside, in the room as well. Normally there is a table to set the cat on, this time they used the washing machine in the room. I understand nail trims are not high priority but if this was a room they did all their grooming in? I would never go there. It was unsanitary in looks, and with all the other animals in the room, my cat was very skittish in what is normally a decent experience with him.

Keep your receipts and check you rewards card often don't trust them to ensure your purchases were counted. We were part of the buy 12 get one free program. At least 4 bags we bought did not go on our account. We could only prove the two we paid with debit, ones we paid cash they couldn't trace. According to them it's because there head office remote access the computer system and while head office is in the computer the points program doesn't catch what is bought on the points card. From what they said this happens a lot. It was major pain to have to look up every purchase we made to find ones they missed. Most of our purchases were $150 and up on a monthly basis. When we went in to store third time to straiten this out no one including the management knew what we were talking about because the manager we talked to wasn't there and no one else could help us, a lot of not my problem attitude. You would think they could have a note book or file on computer to keep track of customer issues with the points card but that would be work for them. We finally got our free bag and threw the club cards out. There were no apologies for the runaround just a lot of blaming head office. Cowtown has the same brands usually around $5 cheaper they also have the buy 10 or 12 and get one free program. They also have much better customer service. They will be getting our business in the future.

I used to love this location, there was such variety of livestock and knowledge in the fishroom :( Now the fishroom is cut in half and the woman who claims to be the fishroom manager has horrible customer service skills and argues with you when you have your own opinion, plus she seems to not have proper knowledge. Everytime i come in, which isn't often now i might add, the fish are sick. i wont buy from this location anymore, stonebridge only for me.

I wouldn't buy any thing "living" from this place. Emailed head office once and gave them a formal letter in regards to my experience with my fish. I had 10+ fish die following the care of the employees that work here. Head office never returned my write. I unfortunately still have to shop here to provide my dogs with the dog food as it's the closest distributor but I was in today to get another bag of dog food and I walked past the ferret cage and I was almost in tears. All the ferrets were lethargic, and there was poop and diarrhea all over their cage! Dripping down from the tiers of the cage. I feel bad the animals are left there to sit in their poop. I'd be lethargic too! Very unpleasant to customers and heartbreaking the way these animals are cared for.

I have tried to purchase feeder from them several times. Every single time there has been some issue. This last time was really the last straw, I purchased 100 super worms when I got them home and transferred them to a bigger tub there was only 70. I called the store and their response was to transfer them back to the smaller tub, bring them back to the store and they will give me a different container with no guarantee that there would be 100 in the new container. They claim to have to control over them because they come in pre packaged.... Do better Petland

I visit the store every 2 weeks to attempt to purchase my pet dogs food. This last time the product I have been purchasing for my pets was again unavailable. The store clerk advised me they would have it in a week. Really, a week? I wonder what the clerk would think or do if the grocery store told her that what she ate would g be available for a week? Yes, they are dogs, but everyone who has had a dog or cat knows you cant just change what they ate without having issues. Its ti.e I find a different source for my pet food supply.

Completely un-knowledgeable staff! Went in today fully expecting to drop more than $300 on a bunny, food and cage. 3 of the staff acknowledged me... which is great but when I asked what kind of bunnies they were selling in the cages they said "we don't really know, a cross with something". I asked what genders they were... again "we don't really know because we don't actually do that here". When I asked how big they thought the bunny would get they said... "dont know, we think they must be just about grown" when I asked how they'd actually know that without having any idea of what breed the bunny's were they said "just because of how they hop" good grief!!!!! What is the hiring and training process at your store people!! You can't expect people to buy from your store without staff knowing SOMETHING about the products. Ps: nothing at this location is reasonably priced, for the general population know that your local vet clinics have access to almost everything pet land have and sell it at half the price !! Plus... people know stuff at vet clinics... they go to school for along time to make sure they do. The SPCA it is for me!
