Fish is great, simple menu...straight forward. Fries are nothing special and service is ssssllloooowwwwwww. Overall, if you like your fish n' chips wrapped in newspaper like the classic way, this place is pure black and white no frills. I was expecting more once you put the word Union Jack on it.

When I lived in Port colborne Union Jack's Fish & Chips were just around the corner from me and I ate there quite frequently. Since moving to St Catharines four years ago I was pleasantly surprised to learn that once again, they were just around the corner from me. The prices are reasonable, the haddock is so flaky it almost melts in your mouth. If you order fries, you get a very generous portion. If on next day I have leftover fries, I turn my ovento 450°and reheat them until they are crisped. The fish is served with a wedge of lemon which I really appreciate. The coleslaw appears to be homemade and is very tasty. I also love their deep fried clams, which you don't see too often in a fish and chip restaurant. No wonder Union Jack's Fish & Chips wins awards. Delightful food, friendly staff & caring owners.

The fish is really good but messy. The batter slides right off the fish or at least the fish I had. The size of the fish wasn't as big as I was expecting but it was a decent size. I only had one haddock but it did leave me wanting another one. I didn't try the fries.

The haddock was a good size and was super flaky. It wasn't greasy or mushy. The fries are just ok, but could be way worse. My daughter is celiac and they have gluten free fish that she really liked and didn't get sick from. I really wish they made their own tartar and didn't give you packages, but the coleslaw was really good.

Perfectly cooked fish, beautiful batter, fast service. Never been before and it was great. Got it delivered, and the quality was still there (hot, crispy, delicious). Fast delivery through Skip The Dishes (less than 20 mins for lunch hour). Would definitely recommend over some other fish and chip joints in the area.

This location on Colton Street in St Catherine's is my favorite location. A couple of young lads work there and they are always pleasant, polite and smiling. I always get the Haddock and Fries or Onion rings and I am always happy with the food.

Friendly staff, good food. Coleslaw is really good. I'm guessing homemade. Not overly greasy fish, excellent fries. The tarter sauce is in packets and not the greatest but the food is good without it. It was nice to see deep fried pickles on the menu! Edit | 26-08-2021 I'm updating this review as the quality has changed significantly since I wrote this original review. We placed our regular order (2pc Halibut + Poutine / 1pc Halibut / Battered Mushrooms x2) and the Halibut fillets were almost HALF the size at they were with previous. We contacted the store (Carlton St.) and spoke with the manager. He confirmed that that was the new fish filet size from their new supplier, and that they included an extra "piece" to make up for the difference. I wrote the company to voice my concerns about this change. That was on 30 May 2021, as of 26-August 2021 I have not heard back from the company. Edit | 13-01-22 After additional emails, the company refuses to listen to my complain. We will not be returning.

Horrible customer service from the Man who works there. Completely ignored me. Food was 20 minutes late. Didn’t apologize or say anything when he gave me my food. The lady was very nice. When I complained to the owner of how rude the male worker was she stated she would retrain him and didn’t offer me anything to make it up. I stated I would not be coming here again. Fish was great. Fries were gross.

Bought the halibut and chips with mac n cheese bites. For the price, I only got 5 small pieces of the mac n cheese bites. The 2 pcs of halibut I got was so dry and had no flavour I had to drown it in tartar sauce. I think McDonald's fish patty was a lot less disappointing than the fish I got. Fries were meh and the mashed peas were decent.

It took me a long time to find a fish and chip place in the Niagara region.. the fish is always so good and the batter is perfect. The fries are okay, not the greatest fries but it’s the fish that I go there for! The coleslaw is a hit or miss. I’ve tried other places to try to find the perfect fries and fish, and always end up going back here for the fish.

This place was so disappointing! The food was disgusting, not even edible. The pieces of halibut were the size of a condiment package, and the fries had to be leftover from the day before. The gravy was clumpy and overall was the worst thing I have ever been served. This was a complete waste of $37. I went to return it but the store closed at 7:30pm. I picked up just before that. I was forced to throw it away. Overpriced for two halibut and chip meals. You are better off making Kraft dinner at home. Owner won’t address bad service or return phone call, despite leaving two messages with my contact details. Go anywhere else but here. Gross

We tried Union Jack Fish and Chips for the first time Friday April 30th, 2021. We ordered a two piece pollock and a one piece pollock dinners. We were pleasantly surprised with the fish. It was delicious!!! The fries were okay, too many small fries for my liking but there were lots to eat. Big portions of fish as well. The Fryin' Guys and Lakeport Fish and Chips have gotten too greasy for our tastes, which is why we went looking for another company. Keep up the good work guys, we'll be back for sure. Online ordering is a breeze and the 50 redemption points we received took about 5 dollars off of our total bill. Nice touch! Thank you.

Updated November 2021: had heard food improved here so decided to retry. Went a month ago, the fish had improved. Tried again tonight with the family. First, fish was overcooked. Ordered two gravies, staff told my husband I only ordered one, but it was definitely two. He said the staff was pretty rude to him and other customers, which was also my experience when I went a month ago. To too it off, our single gravy wasn't even lukewarm. As you can see in the pic, it's gelatinous and thick, because it's not hot. If you order online, bring a copy of your order to ensure you get what you ordered. And expect to be treated with distain. Original review: Not to my taste, though service was fine. The food could be improved.

Have ordered from here half a dozen times. The last 2 times we've been very disappointed. Last order, the fries were crispy little bits and pieces and the rest mushy, seemed old. This time, after placing an online order with a 45 minute pick up, had to wait another 15 mins more. The fish itself was good, nice and hot, but, the batter was way too thick, and inside seemed undercooked and mushy. The gravy was lumpy, jellylike and cold. The coleslaw containers were filled just over halfway and way too creamy, swimming in sauce. After the last time we ordered and were disappointed, we thought we'd try it again and are even more disappointed...Guess we'll be looking for another place for fish and chips

Just spent $100 on a 10pc family haddock meal and paid for extra tartare sauce. The fish arrived soggy and they gave me 5 small packages of tartare sauce. 5 packages for 10 pieces of fish when I paid the extra to receive extra sauce....this is not even enough to cover the 10 pieces as it is. I’m so annoyed right now and definitely won’t be spending another dime here.
