We heard so many wonderful reviews on Giant FM so we had to try it, obviously!!! The service, amazing, they have the sweetest server. The food was delicious, big portions of fish, delicious homemade tartar sauce, crispy fries and the most delicious Cole slaw. If you haven't tried, go now, it's well worth the drive!!! That's my half eaten box!!!

I agree with the last review... the Tuesday specific is amazing. Great lightly battered fish, fresh cut fries..mmmmm.... good breaded shrimp special on Wednesday also. My only concern is that the tartar sauce isn't homemade... which makes me wonder if the coleslaw is not homemade..oh and no salads are available also. Otherwise I would like to highly recommend the place. It has been there since I was a kid, so they're doing lots right! I am no spring chicken folks. LoL

Great fish and chips place. We ordered through door dash and it came within 30 minutes. Unfortunately the pollock and poutine was missing from the order. We called the restaurant to let them know. They offered to make it for us and we went to pick it up since it would be faster, wasn’t far from the hotel and we wanted to eat together as a family. The restaurant was very apologetic for the error and even threw in an extra fish and extra bacon bits on the poutine. That was so nice of them to do that. We ordered: 1. seafood platter with haddock, scallops, shrimp, tarter sauce and onion rings 2. Calamari strip dinner 3. Mozzarella sticks 4. Jalapeño shrimp with jalapeño dip 5. Pollock with a side of poutine Everything was delicious we forgot to take pictures until after we started eating several of the dishes so there are only a few pics. The batter is light and flakey, not too oily and the fish is a good size. The jalapeño shrimp is really good especially with the jalapeño dip. It’s only mildly spicy so even if you can’t take much spice it would still be ok. Scallops and shrimp are a good size in the seafood platter. Everything came nicely wrapped and labeled. Would definitely order from them again!

The food is good and they are fast. NOTE; if you order via a delivery app like Skip, they mark up their menu prices. This should be disclosed in a clear fashion (yes, legal fine print covers it somewhere on page 6 of the EULA). For example Pollock 1 pc dinner is 6.95 on the menu vs 8.68 on Skip. EDIT: I also notice a previous reviewer mentions that the owner keeps all tips. There was no response to that post from the owner. Spend your money elsewhere, shady business practices should not be rewarded.

At this time I feel I will not be back. I ordered Fish and chips and mushy peas and coconut shrimp. The young lad said "Do you want tarter sauce and lemon I said yes. He then said I'll have to charge you for the lemon. I said never mind I have lemon juice at home. I didn't even get any sauce for my shrimp I believe there is a red one for sea food. I did not order the cheapest fish so I did pay enough to be able to have a piece of lemon. A lot of great reviews why none not so good? I have been to better places with better service.

My great-great-great-grandfather, Isaiah Abernathy Lakeport, founded this place in the mid 1800's. He was an immigrant from Great Britain. His clientele was loyal and he would make the fish and chips to order. He'd take them days and weeks in advance and catch the fish and slice the potatoes only hours before the order was to be completed; that's how you knew it was always fresh. Sad to see an old-fashioned, IMPORTANT tradition be done away with in this day and age. Nowadays everything comes frozen and is not made with passion like what Isaiah did. He got looted and shot to death a few years after opening up the place. Someone had contracted salmonella and died, and a family member of the deceased took it upon himself to murder my great-great-great-grandfather in cold blood. Now the business is here. Overall pretty good food. Reasonable price, I guess. Staff is very friendly.

Waited 55+ minutes for a curb side order after being told it would take 15 minutes. When we called from the curb side spot when we arrived we were told they were just wrapping it and our order would be out shortly. Then after 25 more minutes of waiting my husband went in to check on the order and was told they hadn’t even been dropped in the fryer yet.

So good, best cod i ever tried. So crispy. Sides were perfect. Next time I'll get battered mushrooms! It was all wrapped in paper, British style! On the way home from the falls we followed the river to Niagara on the Lake... amazing experience! Then i had a hankering for fish n chips, so started searching. Turned out only a few were still open in st cats. So went to lakeside, drove over the canal!! The qew is just few minutes away from here then.

I came in tonight to pick up my order, the store was crowded as usual. People were sent back outside, which is a horrible system because there's no way of know when your order is ready if you're not inside. Yet still, not a single employee visible was wearing a mask (3 people minimum). This really makes me wonder what else is happening to our food if basic health requirements can't be followed. The guy at the front had his hanging from his ear while chewing his gum like a cow, huge restaurant no no. I was disgusted but had 3 people at home waiting for a meal that I needed to produce so I was forced to take my order and leave.

No need for too much detail about why this restaurant was our third attempt to get take out fish and chips on Good Friday, other then to say we were not thinking. We pulled up at Union Jack 4th ave and thought why isn't this place packed like the others? We ordered almost immediately, and take out was ready in 10 min. Very pleasant surprise! My wife and I shared a 2 piece haddock and chips. Batter was light and crispy, fish was hot and cooked through, fresh cut fries very nice. No greasy after taste which we've experienced before elsewhere. Even the coleslaw was tasty, not too sharp if you know what I mean. Union Jack will now be our first choice in St. Catharines. Social distancing and other tactics were in place for everyone's benefit. Thanks

We ordered dinner from Lakeport for the first time and I will say the food was not good. Warm at best the breaded pickles were saggy and greasy the fry's were overloaded in grease and were just as my kids put it yuk, mozzarella sticks were bland no flavour and to top it all off the delivery guy was verbally abusive to my wife. I'm all for giving a tip for good service but don't expect it. The driver tried to drive off with the change and when confronted he was surprised and using the double digits vocabulary told me his opinion. sorry but I will not give a tip after the way he disrespected my wife he was lucky he was walking a way after talking to my wife and me the way he did. this was the first time and the last time my family will ever order from them.

We ordered the 1 piece halibut dinner and 2 piece haddock dinner, both were really good. The haddock portion was huge. Two massive pieces. The halibut which is my personal favorite was a much smaller portion (half the size of one piece of haddock). It was more than enough for me but I could see some people wanting more. Fries were delicious and the gravy is amazing. I would definitely recommend.

Have been a customer for several years, cannot speak for any other review here, but have had more than one bad experience. Staff has changed, to be expected, BUT the quality of service is not what it was originally PLUS this is the last time for me based on either incorrect order received (TWICE) and fish overcooked (I pay for Halibut, so this was not one budget dinner that was poorly prepard). Asked for the manager when food was poorly prepared, he was not there I was told, so decided to share this way. For the owner: think about who is missing from your regular Friday nite cusotmer orders of three Halibut dinners, maybe you can find me that way!!

I came in and had asked the sizes for the Jalapeño shrimp, being pointed to the boxes beside the register I said I wanted enough to share with my sister standing beside me. At no point did the person working the register tell me that the box would be filled with fries, and topped with a few shrimp. I feel ripped off, and misled, as I was speaking to someone right in front of me. Will never come again.

Aug 2020: my first time here and I tried the Wednesday shrimp basket special. Shrimp were on the small side, but there were enough of them to compensate. They tasted ok, but that's all. The fries were a below average, and I threw out half, thinking "why bother". I'll give them another try, next time it'll be the fish, but I'm not rushing back. Lots of choices out there.

Lakeport used to be our favourite (almost) weekly meal. The food is delicious. However, the last two times we've ordered, what we received was incorrect. The first time, we paid for extra tartar sauce and got home only to find out there was no sauce whatsoever. The second time, they made sure we had the sauce we paid for the previous time, but shorted us one meal. While I appreciate their offer of remaking the order, this isn't an appropriate solution when you live at the other end of town. It seems like the staff need more supervision and attention to detail.

I had a less-than-stellar experience here a year or so ago, and left a review about it, but it turned out to be very much a one-off, and since then everything has been great, with excellent cod with chips and onion rings, and staff who are unfailingly alacritous, friendly, and polite -- yes, Google, 'alacritous' is a word, look it up on yourself. I marvel at how tirelessly they cope with the complications of serving customers under the pandemic conditions, offering multiple ways of ordering, picking up, and paying. Well done folks.

Had the haddock fish and chips. Haddock was slightly overcooked but the batter was fried crisp and light. The chips were beautiful. Airy, potatoe insides while every corner of each fry was perfectly crunchy. Interior is nothing to write home about but it is clean-ish

My family and I tried Lakeport for the first time tonight and I am quite disappointed. I ordered 3 meals and a side. Time-wise everything was completed in the timeframe they said, which is why I’m giving two stars. From the moment I called to place my order, the woman on the phone sounded frantic and immediately put me on hold. When I placed my order I said “lots of tartar and lemon please”. When picking up my order I made a point of asking if everything was in there and she was absolutely sure that everything was. Given that it is deep-fried food and how they meticulously wrap everything up, I didn’t want to open It all up and let out the heat. When I got home with my order I was missing my side, I had only 2 tartar sauces and 2 lemons for 3 meals, my fish pieces were exceptionally small and my poutine was complete mush- not to mention the photo online showed coleslaw and there was no coleslaw. When I called to speak to them about my missing side and lack of tartar and lemon she says that it will be put in their “comp book”. I explained my frustration that I specifically went out of my way to ask while there if everything was in the bag and I was reassured that it was which was not true. This phone conversation took place roughly 10 minutes before closing time so I was not even given the opportunity to come back and get what I paid for. It is what it is- but I will not be going back.

We love Lakeport Fish and Chips. We ate in although it has a small dining room 2 tables. I wish they had a high chair tho. The food was fresh, tasty and excellent. We also ordered the deep fried oreos and deep fried Mars bar. Yum yum. I wish they had a tip option on the debit machine. Over all always a great experience. Was our favourite place, but the halibut has shrunk and shrunk and shrunk. Should be bigger than a credit card...total rip off. The two piece is now what you used to get in a one piece. Also, the texture of the halibut wasn't right...usually it's a nice firm texture, but this was soft and mushy. I don't think they're using a proper filet anymore? And there was grease dripping out. We will be going to J Monks from now on.

Good spot. Not hard to get to and somewhat central. I've only just been introduced to the restaurant but for $4 on a Tuesday special you really can't go wrong. Food tastes good and the service was fast!

Ordered family pack of fish and chips and some battered mushrooms which we paid extra for. Hubby arrived home two pieces of fish, mushrooms and no fries. Called them and they tried to say they gave is a larger order of mushrooms instead of fries. Well who the hell orders fish and chips to only get the fish. We were starving and on top of it ir was a ratty day. Called twice wouldn't give us fries which I'm sure cost them 25 cents. Thanks for nothing, left us hungry and angry. Will never order from here again. Total rip off. To add to owners in true comments, we were told we were given a large order if mushrooms instead of fries. We were offered to come back for fries, but when it says family meal when ordering the fish and chips, you assume your getting fries. We ordered the mushrooms as a side. When picking up, someone could have told my husband this. I heard my husbabds conversation on the phone as well as my own, of course. We were always polite to your staff and did not get rude or angry, so dont make things up.

We are looking for a good fish and chip spot. Tried this place for the first time based on the google reviews. The pickup was a little hectic and they have no real process (due to social distancing etc but no points lost because of this). About 10 people hanging outside the door not knowing what to do and def not standing 6 feet apart. Our food was sitting up waiting up at the counter for about 10 minutes before the girl called our name. Very small portions of halibut and chips. The smallest I have every gotten for the same price as other places. The halibut was the size of my hand and the chips were about the same. I’ve never had such a small order of fries. The food tasted ok; I’m giving it two stars for the value for money. Our hunt continues.
