Some of the staff are very helpful and nice, a few are a bit condesceding, and some are just weird. Sometimes you get unfriendly vibes when you go in there, others times it will be a plesent experience. Other than that, they have good selection when it comes to lures and rods.

Went to The Fishing Hole today because Brian gave us a heads up that the store was opening today on The Manitoba Fly Fishing social media. I was totally disappointed with your instock in the fly tying materials. I would guess all sections where out of top sellers and 75 percent out of stock. I buy lots of tying materials a both Cabela and The Fishing Hole. Ive been complaining for two years that your ordering system need to be changed and your staff don’t seam to care. Then today I let it be known that I think you are getting out of tying material and was told I was spreading fake news.( I can show you if you need this info) Anyways I just finished writing a long email to the president Mr. Johnston. about the ongoing issue we have here in Winnipeg about staying instock. This has to stop or you will be out of business...I can put my life on the line that your sales are way down. You should investigate and take action so your customers can have a place to shop and not be disappointed with the shelves being out of stock all the time. Thank you for your time. Bob.

I had talked on the phone to a sales staff member on Thursday Feb 11/21, I told him I was interested in buying a decent fish/flasher comb good for summer and winter ice fishing, he told me he had one that would fit my needs, after driving into the city I get there and they had put the idem aside for me. I paid for it and had a few questions to ask about it, one question was does this unit do mapping or can it use Navionics SD card and the young fellow said yes, I also wanted to know if this unit could be updated from time to time, the answer was yes. So I drive home,open the box and I find it can't be updated, or it can't use my navionics card. I was wondering with that being said can I return the unit ?? I can see I won't be satisfied with my purchase. I have spent a few dollars already at this store and would hope I can become still a happy customer.

Most Disrespectful and rude manger ever I have come across in my life (JOSH). Terrible customer service!! Me and my wife went to this store on July 8th 2019 to fix the reel. This guy named Josh (claimed he is the shift manager) said that they are unable to fix the reel since we didn’t buy that reel from them. He also said they have new reels that suit my fishing rod. In order to save some time and to avoid driving to another store, we decided to just buy a new one. He took us to the reel’s section and showed us one of them. Then I clearly asked him, “Is this the right size reel that you are suggesting”. He said yes. Then he started to switch my expensive line from the old reel to new reel. The new reel could only fits half-length of my line that I had on my reel. He cut the line when it reached to the reel’s limit without asking me and leaving the rest of the line in the broken reel. I wanted to fit the whole line in one reel. When I asked about why he cut the line without asking me, he said to buy another rod from them and they can put the rest of the line in to new rod and reel. Seriously??? He said he won’t be able to do anything about it. He refused to give me any kind of store credit for messing up my line or to admit or apologize for what he did. How can he assume what a customer wants? How can he assume that it is ok for a customer to cut his line in to HALF? He said he is the manager here and he can’t do anything about it. He also REFUSED TO GIVE THE OWNERS CONTACT DETAILS. When I asked about the owner he stated “YOU CAN JUST LEAVE NOW”….JUST LEAVE…JUST LEAVE….!!!??? Is this how a MANAGER talks to a customer? If a manger behaves in this manner you can imagine how will be treating his employees/co -workers. How can you keep argue to a customer when mistake is in your side. Ridiculous customer service from” Fishin Hole Ltd . He is not fit for a manger position. He deserves to be demoted and retrained. Most disrespectful and rude manager I have ever seen in my life. I would never go to this place again.

They would not return my broken Sonoma rod even after they said they would. They said bring it back after fishing season and we will get you a new rod. When I returned they said my warranty was over. Owner said they didn’t even sell that model. Be careful and don’t trust the owner as he will lie or not take responsibility for his cheap made in China products.

I always preach “shop local” I have always frequented the Fishing Hole for my fishing needs, the staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Today was a little different, I dealt with a young man with a bit of an attitude, I went in for two items I seen on sale, however I guess the sale ended yesterday, the sale prices were still showing, he flat out said you need to pay full price, the signs should of been taken down, ok I can deal with that, however I think the price should of been honoured due to the signs still being up, I pointed out an item with no price showing and asked if it was still on sale? Immediately he gives me attitude and tells me it’s not, I said I think it’s still on sale for another 18 days?? He said you see that on the website, I said yes, he would not even look it up, not a great day at the Hole, hopefully this young man learns some respect and loses the attitude or finds a job that is NOT customer service based. The Fishing Hole is still my place to shop! Best place hands down!

Walked in there looking for a fish finder for my fiance. Everyone working was currently busy with customers so I made my way to the back where the fish finders were to take a look and see what they had while I was waiting for somebody to hopefully be able to help me. I stood and kind of walked around in places where the sales people could still see me in hopes that when they were done with their customer they would come over and help me I waited 15 minutes and nobody approached me wants to ask me if I needed any help. I felt extremely frustrated that it felt like I didn't matter even though I was in there to make a fairly substantial purchase. As much as I would love to support smaller stores I didn't want feel like I got any level of good customer service today so I guess we'll be going to Cabela's to buy our fish finder

If you're looking for a terrible and frustrating experience, the Fishing hole is the place to go! I recently purchased a $700 Lowarance ice fishing locator accompanied by a $70 Anglers Edge map chip. It worked great for 2 months until the map chip suddenly failed. When I approached the blonde curly haired employee and shared my challenges regarding my map, he simply told me to contact the mapping company and there's nothing he can do. NOTHING HE CAN DO?? So, I asked that employee if we can try another map chip and determine that the map chip is the problem. He said NO again! I became ultra frustrated and left the Fishing hole with 0% satisfaction and no confidence this issue would be resolved. I immediately drove to the local tackle shop (Pro-am Tackle) and pleaded my case. The owner at Pro-am tackle Bob, listened to my story, understood my frustrations and even offered to contact this map company on my behalf. Within 10 minutes, I had a new anglers edge chip card and my unit was up and running!! Training is definitely required for this type of ignorance displayed by the fishing hole staff. Unbelievable. Ive been in the fishing industry for over 20 years and this was by far the worst customer service I've been through. PLEASE BUYER BEWARE !!

If I could give you a zero I would... We stopped in last weekend to a fishing license. You told my husband that his health card # was invalid. We called and everything is still up to date. We go to Canadian tire to find out after the kid entered the information, he misspelled his name. He even had a supervisor giving him high 5s. Maybe the supervisor needs to learn how to spell. I went to return a fishing rod today I bought about a week ago that was just a tad too long for my preference and was going to replace it with the same one but just 6 inches shorter. I walked up to the front desk and gave the cashier the wrong receipt by mistake and scrambled for a couple minutes looking for my receipt and I truly couldn’t find it (and I still can’t find it which really bothers me)... I didn’t expect to be able to walk out with the fishing rod I wanted today because I didn’t have the receipt in the end and that would’ve been fair, but the staff believed me and just exchanged the fishing rods even though they didn’t need too. The staff is very nice, understanding and our very knowledgeable. Excellent store, staff and customer service! If any worker reads this, thank you very much!

First time at the fishin hole today and all of the staff were incredibly helpful, it being my first time out fishing with my family they helped us with my fishing license and set me up with some tackle to get myself and my family out on the river. The prices were great not too high very very reasonable and the staff greeting you with a smile (with a mask on of course ), all willing to give you a hand and answer all your questions. I am a recent transplant to saskatoon and never really was into fishjng before moving here and the fishing hole and staff have helped me to get the gear, locations and catches. Without thier help I would spent three times more on the wrong gear, and thier help has allowed to really progress my fishing skills. Prices are often better then other fishing and hunting shops and they have frequent sales. If it is fishing related they will have what you need.

I went to fishin hole bought a fish finder for 950.00 and I paid cash. I took it home and I was not satisfied with it so two days later I took it back. Todd the manager could not give me a refund in cash as I paid and not even on debit card, he just offered to refund on a credit card and I said no. The next resort was a cheque from head office. The refund transaction happened on a Monday and he said would get the money in a day or two. Fours days later I went back to the store to get my money but no cheque for me. Then on my way home Todd called me and tells me the cheque will be mailed to my house not to the store. He told me it was too much money in cash for a refund but they didn’t even put the cheque as registered mailed with tracking number or even as ups mail and I’m still waiting. That’s really poor customer service and I advise all the people in Winnipeg to go to Cabelas or other stores cause you get treated with respect

Was turned away at the door when they knew I was coming in for a license and had said If I get there in 10 mins it would be fine, got there in under 5. Heaven forbid an employee stays 5 mins after their shift I do it all the time. Won't be shopping there anymore.

i bought an abu garcia rod and the handle broke the first use i had it. they wouldn't replace it or let me exchange it. i had a similar issue at cabelas they let me exchange it for a better one. poor customer service do not buy from here

There is a reason the Fishin' Hole has been around so long, terrific customer service and products. I just bought an Eskimo ice shelter. Transaction was fast and easy over the phone through Al one of their excellent service persons. Received help carrying and loading large carton into my vehicle when I picked it up, much appreciated. I highly recommend the Fishin Hole for all your fishing needs.

Owner Brent is very condescending to the customer. Will not listen to the customer about what the problem with the product is. Continues to say that there is nothing wrong with the product when there is. Will not offer an exchange for the same product. Accused myself of not liking it and wanting something different, when I have never asked for a refund or a different product, just a straight exchange for the same one. I have explained that we spend a lot of money there, but we are taking our business to Cabelas now. Always loved the Fishin' Hole, until we had a problem with a product we bought. It's has been less than a week and we have already spent $150 at Cabelas. I have no problem driving across town now instead of shopping at the Fishin' Hole.

I purchased a St. Croix rod from fishing hole. It was a defect as it broke on the first one pound fish. I brought it back to the fishing hole in which they did not replace the rod but kept it for a month and charged me 30 dollars to fix it. Do not shop at this store.

On Feb 24, 2020, I bought an ION X auger for just under $800 – it is a significant purchase. The store registered the auger for a 3-year warranty. I first used this auger on Mar 2, 2020. I drilled 7 holes on that day with no issue. I went fishing again the next day, and on my 3rd hole, the auger stopped working after drilling only 12” down. The light came on, but the auger blade would not turn in either direction. On the ice, I called ION Support, who gave me two options to try and get the auger working, but neither one worked. I explained to them I had just bought the auger at The Fishin’ Hole for this fishing trip, and they told me to go back to the store and either return it for another ION X or upgrade to a ION G2. I fully expected the store to offer one of these two options. On Mar 6, I brought the auger, battery and charger back to the store. I explained what happened, and asked for a replacement, or money back so I could order a G2, since I wasn’t sure if this was an issue with the ION X or just the unit I had. There, Todd Braga, in front of a number of customers, told me he was willing to do nothing, since the unit was “used”. I repeated his message, in a slightly louder tone, and he held fast. We argued for 20-30 minutes, before one of the staff offered to swap out the power head with the floor model. At that, Todd, complained that he’d have to amend the ION warranty for the new head, and ordered his staff to do nothing until he returned with the Warranty paperwork. Despite that, the staff member swapped out the head for me and took away the non-working one. Todd returned, berated his staff for doing that, but proceeded to change the warranty information, collecting the new serial number of the powerhead. He then left the cash register area. The two staff that helped me with the final paperwork apologized profusely for Todd’s behavior. A couple of customers came up to me, saying they had been looking at these augers, but would deal with a different store. I told them I thought that would probably be a good idea. Todd came back to the front of the store, and told me he didn’t want to see that auger again, and if I had more issues with it, to take to a service centre for repair. I told him that a failure this early into the ownership, should be addressed by the store, as per the direction given by ION Support. Todd felt ION Support was incorrect in their direction – he felt the store’s responsibility ends once the customer leaves the store with the product. As of now, I have a new powerhead that I confirmed to drive the auger blade before I left the store, with a 3 year warranty, DESPITE TODD, rather than BECAUSE OF TODD. The staff I dealt with that day were excellent; Todd’s reaction was poor. Reviews at the Regent store show multiple complaints about poor customer service from this same manager, which is where I obtained your contact information. Please address this ongoing issue…the guy’s a complete jerk – he’s driving away repeat customers. I came in with a reasonable customer request, and was met with an unreasonable response.

That gets ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ from me!!! ***** Love The Fishing Hole! Always plenty of stock, good sales, and often find things I haven't been able to get at other places. Also love how present they are on social media, always doing giveaways and promoting sales and interacting with customers. Although 99% of the staff are amazing and super helpful, they only get 3 Stars from me based on a number of experiences with one employee in particular. Being a female in a male dominated sport, there is always going to be issues. However, I find that ALL other staff have always treated me as equal and not acted as though I don't know what I'm doing/talking about. Normally I brush it off, but when I am driving an hour(because I prefer this store to others), spending hundreds of dollars at a store in one shot and get multiple comments about "am I giving that to my husband?"..."what did my husband send me to get today?" etc and then questioning me when I explain I am shopping for myself on more than one occasion.....it leaves a bad taste. Great job to everyone else who realizes that its 2020 and women can, do, enjoy and excel in many sports that have typically been male dominated. I'll continue shopping, but you may want to have a team meeting! :)

My dad loves this place. The problem--he lives in BC, and The Fishin' Hole won't let you ship to someone if the address on your credit card doesn't match where you're sending it. This is incredibly frustrating, as I end up either paying for shipping twice, or having to figure out how to fit heavy items in my suitcase, which has a weight limit of 50 lbs. If this could be changed, that would be great. I do a lot of online shopping, and no one else has this frustrating policy.
