Some of the best sushi in the Edmonton area. I have been coming here for over 10 years and love the food and staff!

Jasper Guy

As an explorer, here's my spin... staying at nearby hotel, delighted to find a sushi joint. Located in a strip mall, parking readily available, atmosphere good, service good, dish I ordered was good, value good.

David Cutting

Such a delicious selection of fresh Japanese food. Absolutely fantastic

Joshua Ingram

best selection of Asian food ever service was amazing decore was incredieble love their patronage and service with smiles food was faboulous without a third doubt 5 star restaurant mainly Japanese food. thank you my firends for that wonderfully amazing experience will go their again very soon I promise. :-_):-):-):-):-):-)

Matt Jarratt

Good location and service! The food was great and timely. My only complaint is that every time the door is opened it ruins the experience for 3 or 4 tables. This could problem could be solved by a small wall or partition.

Colin Christensen

This is my favourite sushi place. Amazing team that runs it. Their hibachi shrimp is awesome. Great portions, totally created with quality and desire to make it authentic. Excellent, excellent, excellent. Each of my teens (especially my middle son) regularly requests to go here.

Jude M

I frequent this marvelous place often since I enjoy the good mood that is outline this place. The personel is extremely loyal and professional. The service is impressively efficient. Not to mention, the food they serve is magnificent. I came often and I was always delighted. The pay is decent. I highly suggest this restaurant to to all.

Biscuit Mango

I got the Shio Ramen. They DEFINITELY do not skimp on the meat, and the eggs were silky soft..~ Service was great as well..!

Joshua Chui

Best sushi in St Albert hands down, fresh delicious sushi with plenty of options and variety. Have been going here for years and it's always good to support a local family business. Also really appreciate their concern for health and safety during covid, makes me feel safe as a customer. A shame that some clowns on here are giving a 1 star because of a mask policy (they offer you a free one) without ever even eating the food here.

Linda Lawrence

Delicious!!! Excellent sushi place. High quality well cut sashimi.

Douglas Bodtcher

Had a great meal with my family last night, the boys really enjoyed the marble pop and loved the Mango ice cream. Very enjoyable evening with excellent food, will be back.

I can't believe this restaurant is getting attacked due to the Mask thing?! Is a city bylaw since August that everyone are required to wear a mask to enter ANY INDOOR PREMISES. If any restaurant are allowing people enter their building without wearing a mask. That restaurant is actually breaking the law. And can be reported to Alberta Health Services. And for you paid trolls that've never enter the restaurant. I can honestly tell you, this place has the best food, and the best service. Since 2009, I've been their loyal customer, and the owners are amazing people. Is ok, if you want to support your restaurant, but whatever you are doing. Is just unclassy. Shame on you!

Went here for lunch recently and while the place seems to have regulars, found the food to be subpar. The agedashi tofu the lone highlight. Outside of that appetizer the rest was not very good as the noodles we had were bland. Unsure of ramen served with bean sprouts as that doesn't work. The pork was also lacking flavor and too thick and much too tough. The rice for our sushi was mushy and the salmon was very mushy. Service is friendly though.

Chris M

The sushi here was delicious. We had three different types of rolls and all of them were fresh and great flavour. Also had edamame and tea which made it a great meal overall. Server was also genuinely friendly which is so often lacking so that was really nice too! Will be coming back here next time I’m in town.

Roy Eschner

Excellent food, awesome service. Not cheap but worth every penny! ❤

André Page

Tried their ramen, my fave gyoza and of course tempura everything was good. :) Nice place to dine.

Guitar Witch

Been eating here for years, by far my favourite sushi place in the greater Edmonton area. Worth the occasional drive to St. Albert now that I don’t live nearby anymore!

Josh Henry

The food here is awesome. First time here, was really impressed with the service and the portion sizes. The prices are right on par with what you get and its like you never run out of tea they are so prompt. I highly recommend this place, think I'll have my bday here!

Helen T

Finally got around to trying this restaurant out, primarily to see what a sushi castle is and it did not disappoint, along with all the other items we had ordered. Will definitely be recommended this joint to my friends as well as making this a regular staple. Service was phenomenal and flavour was on point.

Becka

Ordered takeout for the second time from here... staff were very friendly and accommodating and speedy in preparing our meal. When I asked for changes to my food the server went to the kitchen and asked for me ($1 to add avocado to the yam rolls) The yam rolls were disappointing to say the least. Huge chunks of crunchy yam and small slices of avocado. Thankfully they packaged my vegetarian roles separate from my partners fish stuff. Value wise portions are pretty good but quality was not as expected. I’ll stick to my go to place downtown St A from now on.

Paul Nicholson

Delicious food, friendly staff, high quality options and fast pickup/delivery. Great hours which are accommodating for lunch and dinner.

Edmonton Real Estate Travis Bannert REALTOR

Fantastic Japanese food and reasonable price for the quality of the food.

Victor TM

They are one of the greatest Japanese restaurant in St.Albert. I like to go there for ramen and rolls, because of its great selection and favors. Its menu always gives me a big headache to decide what to order, the variation of foods are just tempting me so much every time I visit.

Jean Bean

Don't go here if your an avid sushi and raw fish lover and specifically want good quality sashimi. Cooked dishes are wonderful and super tasty. Especially loved the potato croquettes and were perfectly cooked with a lovely crunch upon delivery! Salad was also wonderful with a variety of veggies paired with a lovely dressing. I would skip the sashimi as the fish doesn't taste fresh with an overbearing frozen non-fresh fishy flavor from the salmon especially. Dorinku does 10x better for the same price if you crave sashimi. Could make the same quality sashimi at home for half the price from TNT. Overall enjoyed the cooked dishes and presentation of the dishes.

Samantha N.

Awesome service, tasty food and decently priced! At first we thought we ordered too little but it was plenty! We ordered assorted tempura, maki combo and butterfly roll. Location is good with lots of parking. Next time i need to try their ramen!

Amy

I ordered take out from Ohana Ya last week and I was disappointed. The tuna didn't taste the most fresh. I also ordered Toro m (something I will always order every time I have sushi) and one of the pieces was completely tough. I couldn't even bit/cut through it, and quality Toro should be the opposite of that. I was also surprised that no wasabi was included for an order that had $100 of sushi in it.

Totes MaGoats

I imagine this place was good. Was probably in a blackout state so everything tastes good. I don't remember reviewing this place.

john anderson

This restaurant will not let you to enter without a mask. They have been black listed on many social media sites. Go to other Shushi restaurants that will allow you to enter without a mask.

Leo

Wow, what can I say but Excellent. The Salmon is like butter, staff very friendly and fast service. I really recommend this place to anyone wanting Sushi.

Brittany Heinrichs (Brittany Dayle Mortgages)

Best place in St. Albert to get sushi by FAR!!! I haven't found one in Edmonton that can compete either. Definitely try their Beef Tataki if you are there.

Kirstie Hood

Received my order from Skip the dishes and it looked appetizing but everything was so so so mushy and gross !! Couldn’t pick up anything with chip sticks because the rice was so mushy.

Brad Istace

I'm not a big sushi eater, but this place does amazing work. Everything is very fresh and flavorful. It can get busy as they are own for their quality and value. No dine-in due to COVID, but they have their menu on line so you can order ahead and pick it up or have it delivered.

Holly Jones

We’ve been coming here for 10+ years - the staff are amazing, and food is always top notch and our kids beg to come here for their special birthday meal each year. We haven’t been eating in since covid but have done takeout and it was perfect - just had to step inside and everything was quick and easy.

Kelli Sisson

Turned us away because there was a group of five behind us (my daughter and I). Obviously money is more important than hospitality. Will never return.

Carrie Ambury

Was recommended by someone who lives in St. Albert. Food wasn't bad, but wasn't anything worth coming back for. I think if you have never had sushi before this would be a good place to go but if you are an avid sushi eater there are many places with better pricing and better food.

Derrick Meyer

Wonderful place. Amazing food. From Bento boxes to sushi and sashimi, everything is great. Had the ramen recently and it was some if the best I have tastes. I would recommend heading there if you haven't before. Their hours are spotty but the food is great.

Samantha Korpan

Seriously the best sushi I’ve had in Alberta. Trust me- I’m always hunting the high of Morimoto’s in Vegas. Their fish is so incredibly fresh and tasty. The rice is gorgeous. The beers are cold. And the atmosphere is so cozy and friendly in there!! They’re the only place I’m craving during my pregnancy and limiting myself to tempura only is brutal! ????

Alexandra Chang

Decently good sushi place. I ordered Bento E and chose sashimi. The Bento box had a good amount and was filling. Tempura was also good and a good variety. We also ordered an Alaskan Sunset Roll. This was just okay, nothing special. Could have had a bit more flavour inside the roll. The salmon was nice and thick on the outside. There's also ramen available which I would possibly return to try!

Stacey B

Food was nice and fresh, service was quick.

Benjamin Straight

two days ago was the first time we came to that magnificent restaurant. But It is obviously not the last. We passed a splendid evening with the attentive service, with the great meal and booze and with the decent pay. We will no doubt come back again.

Olivia K.

Ordered a delicious sushi platter and appetizers for takeout. Staff gave us a time to pick-up and the order was ready to as promised. Good food and will order again!

Bang Nguyen

Fresh, delicious and pretty.

Howard Suissa

Delicious food. Kinda weird that the sushi rolls that come with the bento had only cucumber on them. The sticky rice wasn't very sticky. The wasabi was really hot. Great tempura. Wonderful tea and miso soup.

JJT8N (Ivana)

I eat here often and the food and service are always amazing. Thank you for being aware and helping stop the spread of covid by asking your customers to wear masks (which is law) this means people like me who are high risk/low immunity and medically compromised can enjoy a meal in your restaurant after months of isolating because people refuse to mask up. I’ll be in soon for some nice hot miso!

Paola Hernández

Excelent attention and the food is incredible, I can say from now on that this is the best sushi restaurant in edmonton.

Rita Koch

The food is always fresh, service is great and they continue to update their menu to incorporate new ideas. Wonderful variety and will easily accommodate Gluten Free and Shellfish allergies. I've found at most places once you remove the Shrimp from the menu the choices are limited. Not here. Wonderful food experience.

MILAD H

I Don't ever penny pinch and tbh, wasn't going to write a review but I felt that when they tried to charge me 3 dollars extra when I asked for extra wasabi and ginger, it told me about the character of this place and its owner. I'm reading other foul reviews and the owners responses are mind blowing. Take this more serious bud!

Justin Sherwood

We had the BEST experience here last week, the staff was always around making sure we were well cared for, and they were FANTASTIC with the kids. They gave them learner chopsticks, kids plates and cutlery, always making them feel special, it was a great meal with good food and we can’t wait to go back. A++++ on service.

Kim Dingler

Very good food and excellent service. The only point of improvement I would offer is that we had a reservation for 7, ordered our first round of food, and after receiving the first plate or two we found out the kitchen was closing in a few minutes. More notice (like when we were seated) would have been helpful. We felt quite rushed and ended up agreeing we would have ordered more food. We'll go earlier next time.

Always love going to Ohana-Ya! Great customer service - it is always friendly and welcoming in there! Since the pandemic, we haven't gone out to eat at any restaurants, nor done much take out. Ohana-Ya is one of the select few places we will get take out from because we know they are safe. Lately people have been complaining and giving this restaurant a one star review because they weren't allowed in without masks. And I am so proud that Ohana-Ya has not faltered in their commitment to stand their ground in keeping all their customers safe and healthy. They would rather lose out on a bit of money rather than risk themselves, their families, their staff, and their customers and customer's families that go in there. That to me shows how much they care about their customers, and I have full confidence that I will not be at risk while I order takeout from them! As for their food, the chirashi-don is a must have. The fish is fresh, and they never skimp out on the toppings. Croquettes are my all time favourite and it is vegetarian friendly. Pressed Avocado Sushi was my newest discovery and it is absolutely delicious. There's something for all types of sushi lovers, whether you are a traditionalist or prefer fusion rolls!

Edward Parker

Really good sushi. High quality and good selection of sushi, sashimi, Maki, etc. Service is fast. I've been several time for lunch and or dinner and never disappointed. Chirashi Don is my favorite but everything is good.

Edward Li

Great food tasted awesome real soft shell crab served here

Kate Harrison

I’ve eaten here lots and it’s amazing every time! Some of the best sushi I’ve had!

Kenny Coffin

Excellent service, excellent food! A must for date night. The prices average around $25 per person, but the sushi platters are a $1 per piece! So advice? Order the platters for best value!

Brooklyn Thompson

We have been coming here for years and have never been disappointed! The staff and food are both amazing.

B F

Great sushi. My daughter loves the Cali roll and she won't eat sushi anywhere else.

lina ng

Service was lacking. The maki rolls were great. Good pairings and well executed. Tonkatsu ramen was awful. Incredibly bland (lacked salt and flavor) and the egg was overcooked and the pork was tough and dry. Really disappointed.

Jimmy Le

Worst Japanese restaurant! expensive, little quantity, bad quality. Worst service - trying to kick us out at 8 pm even though they close at 9 pm.. don't they want business? Best to go sumo sumo, japonais, ninja club, nomiya. DO NOT GO HERE!

Brittaney Pregizer

Amazing food. My friend and I made a ramen date a year ago and finally got a chance to eat here. A hidden gem for sure!

Leanne Bidniak

The best sushi in the Edmonton area by far! Great staff. Very clean establishment. Gluten Free options too!

James Martel

Went with the family for lunch. Excellent service. The owner came out to say hi even and free refills on miso soup yum

Julie L.

Sushi is fresh and delicious. I love their special rolls, and try to order from here at least once every time I am in town. -1 star as they are quite pricy, but small town sushi is like that, I suppose!

Christine

First time I went for dinner @6:30pm was pretty good, loved their rolls. Unfortunately the second time I went right before dinner time around @5pm (just 4 days later) and it was a totally different experience, rolls were mostly rice, a lot less filling and barely any sauce on the rolls.. salmon slices were thin I feel the chef was very stingy.. it must have been a different chef for before dinner maybe. Scared to ever go again don’t want to experience the same thing.

Cyrus Li

One of the top Japanese restaurants we frequent in the area. The fish is always fresh and the portions are on point. They do delivery now too!

Andy Kwan

Normally don’t write review. Just couldn’t help but writing one though after noticing an excellent Japanese restaurant in Edmonton/St. Albert being victimized and slandered here in Google review over the past week by either anti-mask cyber bullies or a competitor. Japan being my favorite vacation destination, I’ve travelled there a handful of times. The Japanese food has a big part in making me going back again and again, and will be in the future as well. When I am home and craving for Japanese, Ohana-Ya is my Go To in Edmonton. I have tried pretty much all Japanese restaurants in Edmonton and this is the place I always come back to over the past 10 years. The food here are fresh, made with care, and of great quality. With the geographic location of Alberta, the quality of some of the seafood will never be as good as fresh-off-the-ocean seafood from Japan. However, Ohana-Ya’s are as good as they get here. They quite often have express air shipment of a variety of fresh seafood from Japan and other parts of the world that are absolutely fantastic. My personal favorites are bluefin tuna, uni (sea urchin), large Japanese scallop, and the Super Dynamite roll. And their Ramen has improved over the years to a point where it would fully satisfied my ramen craving during cold weather. The service here is always wonderful and everyone here serves with a smile. Their politeness and mindfulness towards the customers remind me of the service of the restaurants in Japan. During this last little while with the pandemic, rather than dining in, I’ve been ordering take-out basically every second week. Whenever I went to pick up my order, I noticed how they have created extra space between tables with maybe a 30 to 40% of normal capacity following public health bylaws and guidance. And they seems to fill up all available tables when I normally come pickup on Friday or Saturday evenings. I feel very safe going in for pick-up with everyone wearing mask whenever not eating at the table or those who go in to pick-up. They would also provide free mask to customers who have forgotten to bring one, as well as deliver the pick-up to customer waiting in a vehicle outside. After the one cyber bully attacked last Friday on Google Review here, and with the owner responded in a firm manner not backing down on their the mask wearing policy, within 2 days, there were 4 one-stars reviews popping up. This restaurant has never received such reviews ever up until now when they stayed firm against that cyber bully attacks. Clearly, these (5 in total) one-stars reviews were slander where these cyber bullies are trying to damage the reputation of this restaurant due to its mask wearing policy. If anything, these slandering one-star reviews actually have helped confirming for us this little Japanese restaurant is a place that absolutely cares about protecting the health of their customers and staffs.

Our family wanted to do some celebration and decided to try Ohana-Ya. The evening started out well with rolls which were tasty enough. However, their sushi was not. The rice for the sushi was not flavoured at all with any Japanese rice vinegar (powdered) or was it the right type of rice used for nigiri. The tuna tataki-$14 only had 7-9 small pieces of tuna. The hamachi nigiri- a delicate flesh of fish served raw was not hamachi but cooked or cured. Could not finish it. The soup for the spicy miso was bland and tasted very different and far from a real miso based soup-I could not tell what the flavour was. The noodle was not freshly made but boiled from a packaged. The price for the meal was way over charged especially for the poor to average quality of food served. It was a disappointing dinner for what could have been a nice celebratory event. Sigh...

Fuwing Kong

Friendly staff. Fantastic sashimi. Our waitress took very good care is us. The Poseidon rolls is awesome.

Della Miller

Always the best food and service. I've tried other Sushi places and ended up thinking why didn't I just go to Ohana? Family run and always spotless clean. Thank you!

Carmen Reid

Best sushi restaurant in St Albert! Friendly service and delicious food. Good sized portions and variety for the price. I love their bento boxes.

Jonah Hawkins

Food was really good. The customer service was great, the waitress we had was nice and was hilarious in giving my friend the training chop sticks when she saw her struggling. The restaurant is a nice small shop, and it feels very authentic.

Carissa

more of a china version of japanese cuisine... Never coming back.. I wish ive looked on the reviews first before i visited... If you're a big ramen fan be prepared to get disappointed...

Phil Holmstrom

Very good sushi restaurant for Edmonton area - would be my first pick as a suggestion. Has sockeye salmon and really good rolls with mango in them. White Tuna (butterfish) on weekends. Always great service. Nothing negative in any of our trips there.

Tyler Parker

Great food and wonderful service!

Steven Williams

I love the food at this restaurant. My wife and I eat here at least once a month and enjoy it every time. The sushi is always fresh and delicious. It is one of the best Japanese restaurants I've ever been too. Highly recommended.

Jennifer MacPhail

Tried to give this place a second chance for takeout but quality just isn't up to par to match the pricing. Large menu but execution is quite bad. Both orders months apart, rice was so overcooked both times that it was porridgy mush on the rolls. Fried items tasted like burnt dirty oil. There are way better options for Japanese fare in st albert.

Cardiogirl

Best sushi in st. Albert or Edmonton. Great food on a consistent basis. Fast service excellent quality. Love coming here after work to just chill, enjoy the hot saki and great food.

Rowan

Top notch food and service at fair prices. Wish we had discovered this place sooner! Food was fast and delicious, and the wait staff was very attentive while never being intrusive. Super relaxed and friendly vibe. I would recommend this place to anyone - go here!

Sherry Wold

Always fresh and always delicious food. Love this place, thanks for making my birthday supper special during Covid!❤️

Jenn F

My go-to place for sushi! I've been ordering takeout since the pandemic started and it's been great. They are very accommodating and offer masks if you forget. Friendly service, too!

Sacha Henry

I ordered some maki rolls and it came deep fried which was not what usually happens. I explained my avacodos were blacck.. I wasn't aware you could deep fry avacodos, they looked gross. I called to complain because I spent 12 dollars on this order and instead of apologizing that it wasn't made clear or listed on the menu that they were deep fried I was told I was wrong and I should have ordered it without the avacodos. No offer to refund me. No offer to exchange. Will be looking else where. It's unfortunate because when I order weekly they are always delicous.. too bad.
