We've got all the reviews of people like you who use the services of FreshCo Gateway (Fish Shop) in the area close to Saint Albert (Canada).
To this day this firm gets a rating of 3.8 stars out of 5 and this rating has been based on 23 reviews.
As you can read, the average of ratings is very good, and it's founded on a high number of opinions, so we may think that the score is quite accurate. If there are many people who bothered to leave their opinion when they've done well, it works.
As you know, we do not usually stop to write feddbacks when they are correct and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or incidence...
This Fish Shop is classified in the category of Grocery store.
Staff were very friendly and helpful. The store feels very small due to all the items they packed in. The layout of items doesn't make sense. For example, the parchment paper was with in the toilet paper isle, not baking. There is no loyalty program like airmiles, despite being apart of the sobeys/safeway family. We purchased just over $200 worth of groceries, prices were not better than superstore which is right next door. When we got home our eggs were all broken. Due to the packaging, you couldn't check them in store. We came all the way back to return them, which went well and they let us check the eggs in store. However, I had to go to a till as they ha no customer service. I tried to use the $5 coupon, as I forgot to use it the first time, 15mins prior, but they would not honor it. We would rather continue to shop at superstore after this experience and we were very excited about this new store.
Just a worse Safeway
Amazing store and fantastic prices!!!!!
I grew up in Akinsdale so it's nice to see a grocery store back in this space! They did a great job inside! Very clean and everything was well stocked! I was happy to see so many new items other stores don't carry. I was in town visiting friends and I was in a hurry the staff were very friendly and helpful they went above and beyond to make sure I found what I needed. I appreciated the help something you don't find to often.
Just awful honestly, the place is creepy and quiet with that cutout of a guy out front, so much of the produce is rotten and poorly done, first time I went in there one guy was working in the fresh produce with no mask of and headphones in. Prices are terrible and the atmosphere is dingy, just go to superstore.
Good selection of east and south Asian foods. Not the nicest but it’s bare bones for a reason
Nice job on the reno. I like the selection of the Asian aisle, many different products I want to try. First day of opening, nice staff, very polite. Glad to see that the pharmacy staff has not changed, good to see familiar faces. I will have to come back and walk the whole store when there are less people.
Don't waste your time not a very good selection not like they have at sobeys or safeway, seems like it's only half a store nothing made fresh on site which you would think with the name , very disappointed
Thank you "Freshco Felix" for making Shopping with kids fun!! My kids had a blast today searching for him throughout the store. Apparently the family that owns this location is fairly invloved in the community. I've checked out their Facebook page, and they do Contests & Giveaways!! So nice to see. The Store was Very Clean, had Affordable prices $$, and the Staff were Friendly. Will definitely be back. Keep up the Good Work, and Ignore the Cranky Locals that don't pass the Vibe check ????✌
The store has a LOT of selection in terms of number of different items, but I think they have fewer of any given product. It can also be hard to find products at times. For example, I went to get China Lily soya sauce. I went to the rice aisle and found the soya sauce section, but they only had Our Complements and VH. I did eventually find it in the Chinese section though (I bought the last 2). The fresh produce section seems to be quite large and I did see some items that I never saw at the Safeway (like aloe leaves). Be careful with their produce bags though - they a like tissue paper. Presumably this is cheaper and "better" for the environment? I would argue not because I ended up have 3 tear on me, which I had to throw out. I mentioned the issue to an employee who took a picture to show management. Finally, their self-checkout is a joke. First, they don't have any bags, which I get and isn't actually an issue for me. BUT, they only give you enough space on their bag weigh area for 3 bags AND as you put bags onto it, you get the "unexpected item in bagging area." They have a button that says "I brought my own bag" but if you have to press this more than once, you have to "please wait for assistance". But the issues don't end there: - I didn't know the code for my sweet potatoes so searched for it. Two separate codes, both for "sweet potatoes" appeared. I had to ask for help. The employee tried both and gave me the lower priced one, which was good because one was more than twice the price of the other! - I didn't know the code for my green peppers so searched for them, but it couldn't find them. Why not? Because they are "peppers green". You'd think that searching for both words would find the product, regardless of the order, but not at FreshCo. - When I ran out of room, I moved my full bags (just 3 of them) to my cart. Of course the system told me something had been removed and had a button come up to press telling the machine that I had removed something. I don't get why though - after pressing it, I still needed to "please wait for assistance" for some reason. - Finally I was done scanning my items and wanted to pay. I press the pay button and wouldn't you know it? I had to "please wait for assistance". WHY? ALL I WANTED TO DO WAS PAY! So yeah, I won't use their self-checkout again... but then again, would I have paid the more expensive price for my sweet potatoes if I didn't? Thankfully, there were a lot of employees around, but I wonder if this is because the store is new. I guess time will tell. I will be back simply because it's close, I think has better selection than Superstore, and their staff were friendly (and numerous). But I won't do the majority of my shopping there - the prices ok, some deals good, other higher than other areas. If you are doing a major shopping trip for basic items, I'm sure you'll pay less at Superstore or Walmart. Oh, and I think as another reviewer wrote, they don't have a bakery or deli (I wasn't purchasing these items so didn't explicitly look out for them).
Not a fan of the new store. The old safeway these guys replaced was quite nice. The prices are not lower here than they are anywhere else, like the nice full-featured superstore around the corner. The FreshCo is a bare bones store with no bakery, deli, or meat service. I couldn't even find basic dinner rolls. They do not have any options for bags, you either bring a re-usable bag or they force you to buy them. Staff were nice. Skip this place and go to one of the many, nicer stores within minutes of this place.
Wow is all I have to say! From the moment I walked in everything was easily located. Staff were super helpful and friendly. Pricing is great and sales flyer is even better. No looks when I walked through the cashier with 2 dozen cans of monster. lol. I love how they place the placard with the owner pointing at things. My son giggles every time which is strange for a ten year old. I didn’t realize it was a husband wife duo until a conversation with the adorable cashier. Speaking on the poster boards she pointed out the wife who was walking by. She topped my experience. She came out of her way to say hi and made the hugest deal over my chatter box kid. I’ll be going back for sure! Thanks Freshco and freshco Fred. You made my boring day of shopping so much better.
I’m not impressed at all, the price is the same, with less selection than the old Safeway, no deli and no bakery. There’s nothing fresh about it, and you pack your own groceries for the same price. If I’m going to bag my own groceries I may as well go to Superstore they have way more selection, and fresher produce. I’ll probably shop here for things like eggs and milk, but not for big grocery runs.
A pleasant surprise for a store. Only challenge is that the food is bit all over the place so if you are looking for something, you have to look for it. However, they do have some great deals on every week, so check the flyers.
Great looking store but has reduced the product selection. I went in to purchase my specific items and they don't carry them any longer which is a disappointment. Produce looks nice and fresh. Polite staff, helpful to find product (wonton wrappers), would shop there again.
Get store & location. It’s sad to see all the ex Safeway employees leaving negative reviews just because they are disgruntled. Speaks more about their maturity then the store. I’ve been into this location twice and have nothing but great service.
Very welcoming with a great atmosphere. Prices and quality were great. Store was clean and well organized. I was enthusiastically assisted when I couldn’t find something. Will definitely be back.
Amazing prices, bright clean store, very friendly staff who actually acknowledge you when you are shopping. I love it there and am so happy that they opened :) While they do not have everything...they have about 85% of the items I need so they are on my list for weekly stops from now on.
I had the pleasure of entering your store for the first time tonight, I was put through the till by a wonderful man named Michael. He was friendly, kind as well as very humorous. Was refreshing to see such a wonderful personality at checkout. Was also pleasantly surprised to see u carry such a variety of stock. 10/10!
Love the store so many wonderful friendly staff and great prices this will be my go to store for all my needs. Also love the weekly giveaways.???? If you haven't already been here please go it's amazing.
