I booked a day tour with Wildfish Charters from Prince Rupert. My dream was to catch a halibut! Not only did my dream come true (I caught more then one halibut), I also limited out on my chinook and lingcod. I caught multiple dogfish, an octopus ???? and a skate. This truly was the best fishing day of my life!!! Captain Darren knows the secret fishing holes of the area. You are lucky if he has an opening for your fishing trip!

My wife and I went fishing with Darren on June 24th 2021 and we had an absolute blast. If your looking for a knowledgeable, experienced guide, you have come to the right place. We easily caught our limit of halibut, Pacific Cod...we specifically sought Halibut over salmon on this outing, and we were able to select from many fish that we landed. Darren was knowledgeable and experience in his service. We were able to reach our limit on salmon. And almost halibut limit. We were getting bites every minute at one point and it was such a thrill. Darren so easy going and makes the experience very successful

Darren took us to some sweet spots and we limited ou on our salmon / halibut for the day . He also had moocher reels which were really fun to fish with ! We wanted to be hands on and get super involved in the fishing process so darren let us bait the hooks , put away the net , cut the gills and clean the floor after each catch . It was so much fun ! He was very pleasant and professional in every aspect. His boat was also great and comfortable. It was raining and we were protected in the undercover area so we stayed nice ad dry . Thank you darren for an amazing day !

Fantastic day with Darren. We caught our halibut quota very quickly as Darren knew where to go. We then proceeded to catch salmon. Darren arranged for the fish to be processed and flown to Vancouver for pickup. I felt safe and well looked after. I would definitely recommend Darren.

My kids and I spent a day fishing with Darren at the end of July this summer and had the time of our lives! We limited out in chinooks, cohos and halibut and also caught a few ling cod and rock fish. Great experience with Darren. Did the half day with him and we still managed to get 3 Cohos, a halibut and a cod in the boat (several got off right at the boat too!). His boat was spotless, great gear and a great guy who knows his way around the ocean. Definitely recommend.

We had a few slow days on the water but he made it productive and fun. He's not afraid of putting in the time and effort to get the fish you want. Every year my friends and I take a week vacation to the queen charlotte islands. This last summer was the first year we decided to go out on a fishing charter, we chose to go with wildfish sportfishing charters and we had exceptional service from the moment we contacted them and recieved a speedy response. We had so much fun and success on the first day we decided to pay for a second day as well! Captain Darren is a local, he knows all the awsome fishing spots and has all the top notch gear and rigging any one could ask for. This fishing charter was deffinatly the highlight of our trip and I cant wait to go again next year. I would highly reccomend wildfish sportfishing charters as the islands #1 charter to any one who is thinking of going fishing while there on the Charlottes.

Nothing else to say as praise. Took my parents out fishing for the first time ever, and Darren made a moment into a memory of a lifetime. His equipment is top notch, the boat has a covered area what can be closed when you don’t want to be out on the deck. Doesn’t seem like a big thing but when you are 8 hours on a boat in the middle of the ocean and you need to warm up for a second this is a great option to have. As well there is an option indoors to use a washroom. From a fishing perspective we were planning going for half a day with an option for a full day as I wasnt sure if my mum would like it for a full day and Darren understood and was flexible with this. The first hour was a little slow bit no big deal Darren knew another spot and every 15 Minutes a fish came out of the ocean. As mentioned in the first phrase a memory of a lifetime. When we come back to Haida Gwaii we will fish again with Wildfish Charters. Thank you!

My son,his fiance and myself spent July 20 and 21 with Wildfish Charters,and had a great time with our guide Alan Jarvis.We caught lots and lost lots,Alan hooked us up with a halibut (which was released)was over 5ft long,what a great battle my son had.The wildlife we encountered included orcas,bald eagles,Grey whales and porpoise ,Class act thank you so much.

Amazing time! Couple of us from work and some family went out on a 1 day charter with Darren. Normally Darren charters out of Haida Gwaii but with Covid is based in Rupert this season. You wouldn't know Rupert isn't his normal area. The spot he brought us to was hot and it didn't seem like anyone else knew about it. We had the whole area to ourselves. The gear was top quality, in great shape and a pleasure to fish. We limited out on Salmon in no time with some epic double headers. Halibut was a little slower in comparison but Darren was happy to put in the time to get us our limit. He was also super friendly and awesome with our 10yr old. Definitely knows his stuff and we would book again.

Fishing with Darren was the highlight of our trip to Haida Gwaii. Did a half day charter with my family, and a portrait of our cousin Paul, with the intent of taking home some halibut. Not only were we able to get our limit in halibut but we ended up with a few coho salmon as well. It was my kids first experience on a fishing charter and they really enjoyed their time. Will definitely book again next time we make it out, but we will likely do a full day. Darren puts you into the fish right away and makes sure you have a good experience while on board the Hoochie Mama. Keep up the excellent work!

I went out yesterday with Darren and his wife and friend Sheila,and had the most amazing day/experience. We fished outside of Prince Rupert and caught lots of salmon first thing in the morning. We finally settled on the ones we would keep and we had limited out within 2 hours , it was so much fun. We then went halibut fishing and Darren was able to find the spot place they were hanging out , he a very good guide and even better person . If you want an incredible experience and great company , I suggest booking with Wildfish Charters. I don't think I've ever given a review for anyone, but this was worth it!
