I love this store and the merchandise it carries. But every single time I've shopped here I get tailed and watched, as though I am going to shoplift. I dont know if it's the oolour of my skin or because I don't wear brand name clothes, but I don't appreciate being treated in this fashion because it really takes the pleasure out of shopping! I let my fair skinned boyfriend go alone and he NEVER gets followed. ???????????? Come on Herbys Surplus Manager, we are in the 21st century. My favourite store in the Okanagan! Have gone here for over 20 years for fishing/camping. The other day I needed a Queen Air Mattress, other stores were over $65, I got a high quality one here for $33.33. Plus a headlamp for $2.83. Again, great deals and a fun place to look around. People who have negative stories about this place can take a hike, I know no one who ever had a bad experience here :)

We came into Surplus Herby's on a whim after seeing the sign while driving downtown. The store is clean and tidy with helpful staff. The prices are great. We picked up a dozen flies for 12 dollars. I also picked up some local books about the caribou and surrounding area for cheap. Next time we are in town we will be coming back to the store.

Surplus Herbys always surprises me. While you need to treat it like a thrift store (one off) as you generally don't always find the same great things, they always have NEW great things. They might have coffee on week, cheese another, and parkas the next. They do have their usual items like camping equipment and fishing things as well as a large foam inventory if you're looking to make your own custom cushions. I believe you can still get your fishing license here as well, and if you have any questions, the staff are all super friendly.

I walked in this store and first thing I asked the employee at the counter was “do you guys have Boonie hats?” employee looks at his partner beside him and then looks at me and says “Maybe if we know another name for it!” Okay you work in a surplus store and don’t know what a Boonie hat is? Unhelpful staff, not very knowledgeable, bet the people outside across the street know what a Boonie hat is haha

i went in today to get a 6 by 6 piece of foam that i was going to cut up for a theater project, and he (mike) showed me an ENORMOUS bag of foam, about 8 feet tall, already cut up in squares. after a discussion between mike and his boss, they let us have it for free! This place has a reputation for great customer service, and you will experience that as soon as you walk through the doors. The staff are very friendly and helpful. You can often find neat items here at a greatly discounted price. I like to look for clothing items such as winter gear here. Its definitely worth a visit. Do lock your car doors though, as the area of town is questionable!

I'm a women who loves to fish and she always gives me some advice weather its where to fish or what to use. This time she help me with an ice augur and a Ice Flasher. I know its not easy for her to get around but its refreshing when you find someone like her that is willing to walk to show you, cant thank you enough, and she is why I keep coming and getting my fishing gear at Surplus Herbys.

What does this store not have? And at a better price than almost anywhere else too! My husband and I have gone here for everything from fishing rods and tackle to camping gear, to household tools and even some kitchen supplies last time we were in. They also have work clothes and boots, rain gear and wool socks, backpacks and bags galore, and even custom-cut foam. Honestly it's hard not to fill a basket with stuff whenever we're here.

I was totally gobsmacked by the large selection of fishing supplies. Lures, bait, rods and reels.I went in for some road/gravel marking paint and they had it. They had everything from cleaning supplies to backpacks and bakeware. Staff was super helpful. I’d highly recommend if you’re in the market for anything fishing related. If they don’t have it you probably don’t need it.

This place is great I bought a lock for inside and the manager was super nice and treated me fairly the item was exchanged and because of her attitude being so nice I will go back there for more items because they have food spices fishing and hunting tools as well as cloths really.one stop shop. Be careful of the items u purchase because I bought a simple staple gun and just wanted staples and the lady was so rude when she told me oh we don't sell them. Not going back to much else thanks to her.

This business is so rude, I called to talk to the owner always unavailable to talk. I was forcefully removed from the store for no reason. Still they wont admit for doing such a thing. I am mask exempt with a Dr's note and they refused to allow me in the store. Do these businesses not realize that if someone is exempt it's for a reason AND with the Dr note the business is NOT going to get a fine??? Hubby got zero help when he asked a staff member where something was.Lost my business forever.

Safe hand sanitizer, in times of need... Surplus Herby's is a small town oriented store, like you'd find in a town of about 400 people. If they don't remember your name they'll at least recall something about your previous visit. They may be cold with you on your first couple of visits, but guaranteed they will warm up to you by the third time they see you, and they would die to not be able to send you to their competition to get you what you need if they don't have it. They will do anything within their power to find you what you want, even hand sanitizer, if at all they can. By the way, they can find you safe hand sanitizer from local producers, just maybe not officially sanctioned. But in times of need... as long as it is safe....... trust the people who have their fingers on the pulse of the community!

Everyone has to love this store! But although it has geeat prices on some things you cant get mad at the items that are cheaper elsewhere thats just how business works. But staff is always awesome and the store is like they took the "fields" and "liquidation world" concepts put them together than carry actual good quality gear and save you from going from 4 different stores. My kids love this Will guy there hes always super friendly as if he knows them personally lol I purchase tools. Gold panning gear. Fishing gear. Pellet guns. All sorts of good and always satisfied!

VERNON LOCATION. What a joke! WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER!!!! The lady in the fishing department was rude and unhelpful. Then we proceeded to the check out which was like we were stuck in some twilight zone. The women at the till told me to wait before putting my card in and then she just stands there staring into space.. I asked "uhm, is it ready yet?" She was super space case and a quick check out took painfully long. It was a mess in there and no one was willing to even offer help to find anything!!!! SPENT $300 and drove from Sicamous. How disappointing!!!!!
