This Fish Shop corresponds to the category of British restaurant.
Didn’t get through the door to try the food due to poor customer service from the counter staff ... thankfully there are other options for Fish and Chips in this town ..
This is the LAST TIME I order fish from here- fries are great, fish is always super greasy and then you ask for tarter sauce, get home and there is one pack! Are you kidding me?! How am I suppose to use one lil packet on all the fish in a one piece meal- stop being so cheap!!! Gosh!!!
Great food, great prices!!! Best fish in town.
You can taste the superior quality. Keep up the great work guys!!
Best fish on the planet!
I strongly recommend Newfoundland fish and chips. Your order is always hot and fresh.
Awesome. Just awesome.
Love the short wait and enjoyed fish and chips immensely. Alot of times fish is mostly batter. Thus was just right. I will be back.
All they need to do is add some dressing and they'll nail it!
Great fish and Chips very nice people great customer service will keep coming back !!
Soooooooooo average
The poutine here is great!
It was dalish we would go thier agian
UPDATE: I finally got into Newfoundland's Own Fish and Chips to get a takeout order. The price is reasonable and the fish and chips tasted very good. A one piece order has a extra small piece of fish and the 2 piece order does as well. There are lots of chips as well. They are closed Sunday and Monday. A one-piece order is $10.40 plus tax and a two-piece order is $15.50 plus tax. I have been back two or three times and have enjoyed it each time. I wish I had something good to say about Newfoundland's Own fish and chips. I have been there twice. The first time I went it was a day they were closed. The next time I went I checked online to see when they closed and I am pretty sure it said they were open until 8:30. I got there just after 8 o' Clock and they were closed again. Most of the time I am in the area after I have been to the dentist up the street and I have other shopping to do before I want to go there. Don't know whether it is worth wasting my time trying to get there again if they're going to be closed before the time they advertised on the internet. I live outside Dunnville and when I do go to Welland it's usually to the dentist and other shopping that I need to do.
Fish is delicious big portion reasonably priced, and the fries ???? sooooo good.
It ain't fancy food but it's good comfort food the cashier was really friendly and I will return to them when fish and chips is what I want
was very good and for being a busy place order was done fairly fast didnt have to wait around for very long was my first time will be eating here again thank you
Good fish
Best Fish and Chips around !! Prices are good and great friendly customer service comes with your " Boat Load " of food. Definitely worth the drive from anywhere in Niagara area.
A really great place to get fish and chips
Service
I enjoyed the fish and chips, but you need to give more tartar sauce with it. One package is not enough.
Best fish and chips in the Niagara region by far. Everywhere else I go I’m disappointed but never here! They offer to spray it with vinegar and at first I wasn’t sure, then I tried. Oh soooo good. It’s absolute perfection!!!
Dinner
my wife picked up some fish and chips, it is so good. probably the best ive ever had...my two year old is a picky eater and he ate it as well! give it a try if you are in welland
Good amount of fish at a reasonable price
Best fish and chips in Welland. Hands down. Prices are standard for fish and chips. Fish portions are a very good size. For reviewers complaining about delivery time/cost, that's the standard in Welland as most take out places all use the exact same delivery service. And for those complaining about "Under done fish" ... They don't know what they're talking about, and probably eat their steak well done, eggs over cooked, and expect their fishbti be cooked to chicken breast texture. As a person who's actually lived (NB) and eaten all over the east coast (Not these posers who think they know food because they used a Keg gift card that one time, and think Cheers has good food) it can't be said it's as good or better than East Coast Fish and Chips, but it's the best place in Welland. If you like your Fish and Chips cooked to cardboard consistency, you won't get that here. The fish here is tender and flaky, with proper battering so it adheres to the fillet.
Delicious fish and chips. They only have haddock. it was so light and tasty
Large portions, great value, great taste, very fast from order to receiving food.
Unfortunately its hit or miss. Fish was undercooked.
Just not what it used to be. Smaller portions, fish doesn't taste fresh, chips tasted like they had been laying around for a while. I love(d?) this place at one time. Ill give it another try sometime I'm sure, but just has not been what it was. Worst part is the portion size for the family fish and chips is not what it was.
Great fish and chips , large orders. Get the large two piece dinner and it'll feed two people no problem. ????
Was super excited to try this place. Made a special trip. Totally worth it. It certainly didn't disappoint, unlike the guy working the counter. He just wasn't doing customer service very well that day. Good thing the food made up for it.

Just went for fish and chips. The fish was very greasy. As soon as you cut into the very small pieces, oil came out. The fries were small cuts some over done. Don't waste your money. Service wasn't friendly.
Our favorite fish and chip place in Welland.
Oh yes it was delicious u have to order from there. And lots of food I loved their coleslaw
Good staff and friendly environment
Good fish and chips. Just fish and chips
First time I tried to go there, I called them on my drive there, to place my order. They said they don't do pre-ordering, I have to order at the register, and that it only takes 4 minutes from ordering until when you receive it. I went, I ordered, 15 minutes (not 4 minutes) later they finally gave me my food. Today was the second time I tried them. I went to the register, I ordered, I paid. I said I'm going to wait outside as I have my dog in my car and I'm going just get him out and let him have some air. I don't like to leave him in there more than 2 minutes as it was fairly warm. They repeated their same "4 minutes from ordering, it's in your hands", but then said "and due to covid you have to wait inside because we can only have 3 people in the store. So now we can't pre order, or leave. I said I had my dog in the car and last time i was here for 15 minutes. I am not leaving my dog in a car for 15 minutes. The guy said "no, it only takes 4 minutes. 8 minutes later, I got my food and was allowed to exit the store. How can they not let you pre-order, or let you leave the store after you order and pay? You're basically expected to pay and wait until they say you can leave. A friend of mine went there when it was busy and said "when it is busy, there is no way they can do everyone's order in 4 minutes". Exactly! They should stop lying and just say, it'll be 10 minutes and of when you come back there are 3 people in the store, then you'll have to wait outside. Like normal people would. They are ridiculous! I will not be going back!
Take out
Not Greasy. Amazing taste and huge portions
Would not recommend. Always been a hit or miss. Sometimes the food is great, sometimes it's undercooked to a point where it's inedible.I've been going there for quite some time now but have not had good customer service the last couple of times. The amount of tartar sauce is always a debate inspite of me agreeing to pay more. Today was the final nail in the coffin as I was told "it didn't matter" whether I was in a hurry or requested pick-up. That kind of attitude from a place that provides highly priced-half cooked fish and chips is unacceptable in my books.
Awesome fish and chips! Just tried it recently. They give out $25 gift certificates on Kk's show on 91.7 Rock. This is where I heard of them. They just have halibut fish, which is the best!
Dear Owner of newfoundland fish and chips you need to know that one of your employees are very rude disrespectful and possess bad people skills dose not listen to the Customer at all I believe he steals from the till and the customer as well I asked for extra tartar sauce and paid for extra BTW and got home with only 2 packs of them this as happens a few time now I believe he dose this with everyone else too personally i think you should fined a new employee who will appreciate the customers come to your business
The prices and portion sizes are excellent, and that is probably the only reason why the place is always busy. The fish is greasy and is definitely not cod, haddock, or halibut. That the place is named "Newfoundland's Own" and serves what appears to be pollock is an insult to Newfoundland.
Fries are quite good, but fish is a little overdone/dry. Oh, and if you like malt vinegar, make sure you have your own, because they won't give you any to go, and they don't put much on when they serve it. That part was very disappointing.
Top notch fish and chips in the style of a classic Maritime or British chip shop. The only place I know in Welland that has this type of fish and chips. Service is always fast and friendly. If you're a fish & chip lover like me, don't miss out on this one!
Was delicious when i went, even though I'm not a fan of fish.
Great service, better food!
I was surprised by how much I liked the poutine. Went on a whim just for some fries and left really impressed!
Went there tonite because we were on that side of town… we were very disappointed in the fish it was under cooked and wasn’t drained at all the bag they put it in was dripping with oil… the fries were excellent… I used to come here every week when I worked at Bonanza video .. I’m sorry I won’t be back again… sad customer
Over hype IMO. Not bad just not that good either....
I must have driven past this place over a hundred times before I actually decided to go in. Cash or debit only. Their fries and fish are insanely fresh and delicious! When you order a one piece fish and chips, you actually get a lot more than that. Excellent portions, well priced, and fast! A great local establishment that will continue to get more of my business.
Nasty
Dinner
Good price and good fish.
ok but not great. Lots of food but kinda bla. Went because of the ads on radio.
AVERAGE - NOT WORTH THE DRIVE FROM HAMILTON - NOT EVERYTHING IS HOME-MADE.
Miss this place alot
Best fish and chips I have ever had and I've been to almost every fish joint I've seen easily 70 different places all over Ontario. Watch out for the pickle flavoured coleslaw
Good fish and chips lite batter good fries yum.
Went there for the first time. Great fish and chips. Kept hearing their ad on The Giant 91.7fm and had to try them out.
Great food... ill be back
Best in welland friendly staff
We had 2 gift cert for this restaurant.. the man working the counter looked like he didn't want to be there and we tried to joke with him and he just looked at us like we were bothering him.. the fish and chips where just put in a cardboard open tray with a piece of paper over the top and shoved in the bag.. the fish was very greasy and chewy and the fries were ok.. we wont be using the other cert.. thankfully they were free.. not what we were hoping expecting..
Fantastic fish n chips for a good price.
Would not recommend it, portion of the large order was big but they lack quality. Fries were sitting there and tasted old, greasy and chewy. The fish was mostly batter and very greasy. Just didn’t feel like fresh fish and chips. They say it …
Best fish chips around here.
Quick, well cooked and good portions.
The fish and chips were very good and the portions were great. Unfortunately the young man at the counter didn't seem very happy to be there, actually made us feel like we were bothering him. Being from out of town we ate in the car; the fish was buried beneath the fries in a tiny tray, which made it difficult to eat because we had to eat the fries to get to the fish. A better container might be a good idea!
Great fish and chips spot in Welland. Fish was light and well cooked, no excess heavy batter, fries were great and staff was friendly. If your in the area and craving fish and chips this is a great spot.
Fries were crisp and tasty. Although I only ordered a one piece, I received 1 large piece and 2 smaller pieces as well. Delightful!
Fries with malt vinegar and salt were great. Sorry boyz, fish just ok
Good food at a good price. Was pleasantly surprised at the serving portion.
Awesome fish and chip stop. Plus, the owner is great!
Went there for the first time the restaurant was very plain and basic I got my food. I got home and had a good portion of fries they were good the fish was over cooked and had no flavor at all. I was disappointed that the coleslaw was not included unless I paid even more.
Take out
I am a newfounder and the poutine is so salty..a gallon of water was needed to quinch my thrust. The cheese curds are in fact real. However I still could not eat it. Way too salty...It was so salty...like someone accidently threw the salt shaker and the lid popped out and split on to my food. The fish was ok...but sorry I tried it...and it was not something to get all excited over. If you ask for tarter you get one little package...for three pieces of fish...why bother. Lol. Bastardizing Newfoundland. Not too good...eh boy
Great service. The staff is very friendly and the food is good. I find with a lot of fish and chips that throw batter is really heavy. The batter here is relatively light and not overly salty. I would definitely recommend them as a local go to.
Can't beat a fish and chips. Taste great
excellent fish and chips
Good Friday good fish bad service Hyper owner maybe close down next good friday
Tasty! Lots!
the best around for fish and chips!
a friend of the family went there two days ago and ordered food to go (she called me and asked me to post this review), it's not homemade fries, they don't disclose the type of fish, and she found 3 hairs in her dish, everything is extra and it is not homemade. Don't believe that! prices are too high for what you get....they actually threw most of it in the garbage :(
Last night my daughter and her fiance stopped to pick up the family pack meal. It was so good and the portions were very generous. To say the four of us were stuffed is an understatement. It was our first time having their food and we will definitely be back. Friendly staff and great food and great prices!!
Meal type
Great fish and chips!! I always get the family deal and it feeds the whole family no problem.
A year ago I would if given 5 stars as this use to be our go to place. Over the past year quality has gone down hill. Twice now ordered poutine and there has been so little gravy it is more like cheese curds melted on the top layer of fries.
Fish is very good fries taste great just wish they were open on sundays
Best fish and chips I've had in Canada.
Good poutine but the fish tasted like it was pre-cooked and heated up afterwards
Excellent portion sizes, great prices, missing once star due to greasiness of the fish, but otherwise great place to go!
Boat load is well worth it, quick service and good prices. Malt vinegar and salt for the chips...yes please!
Omg soo good and filling
Fish was very disappointing. No taste. I have had better fish in Welland. Very small portion of coleslaw and not great tarter sauce.
Love their fish and chips and the guys who work there are so polite and awesome. Highly recommend!!!
This place is great. My favourite fish and chips in the area. As others have said, the portions are very generous, and they taste great. The owner seems like a really nice guy as well.
Delicious, very busy and efficient!
Ģreasy fish dont let their radio commercial fool you try green acres in ft erie thats the bst fish in town
Great fish
Fresh and great tasting fish. Batter is light and not heavy like a lot of places. If you're in Welland give it a try. I dont think you'll be disappointed.
We ordered a fish dinner for 4 people and went to pick it up. When we arrived at the location we asked for extra tarter sauce as there was alot of fish and that we wont eat it without tarter sauce. We arrived back to our place of employment to find that there was absolutely no tarter sauce in the bag. We called them back and told us of our displeasure and they just simply said come back and get it. Well that's not possible when you only have a 30 min lunch. They do provide a delivery service so we asked if they could bring it over to us. They were not interested in helping us. They said it would be 40 minutes. Very poor service.. We will never go back due to the service.
Great like always.
Nothing Newfoundland about this place its English fish and chips and Quebec poutine Nothing Newfoundland Where’s the dressing I’m a Newfoundlander and not happy with the false advertising
Really enjoy their product. You can tell that everything is hand made, good portions and service. Check it out sometime.
Stopped by for fish and chips, my order came out barely 3 minutes after ordering, any one with a common sense would know that they precook the fish and reheat it pr re fry it when they get an order, the fish taste nasty, fries and coleslaw were ok, I would stay away from this place, almost costed me 20$, the fish ended up in the garbage can. Don’t waste your money here please, also very bad attitude from the employee that took my order
Only place I get my fish and chips. Favorite place..
One of my favourite places for takeaway, food is really good, staff are super friendly and the interior is clean.
Meal type
Quick service always and food is great!
Food was good large portion. Counter staff can use some training in customer service.
Poutine here is the bomb
First time going to this fish and chip store. I have to say great value for your money. Large pieces of fish and lots of chips. My only complaint was that the chips were cold. We just live down the street, too. We will return.
Pricey? Perhaps. good food? Definitely
Fantastic
Well I've really enjoyed this restaurant in the past....but my last experience was a little let down...I ordered a 2 piece dinner with malt vinegar...I got exactly 32 French fries and no malt vinegar...as I sent someone to pick up for me I couldn't return so I called and was told someone would get back to me and I'm still waiting....plus the gentleman who answered the phone was not very cheery....this is why I'm rating it 3 stars...
It's great!! I haven't tasted fish this good since the 90's Idea fish and chips which was located beside The Welland Tribune before it burned down
I've ordered in the past and have had good food, but we ordered yesterday and I can't say that I will return. The food just didn't seem very fresh. The fish was either overcooked, or was left out in the open air before battering because it was very, very dry. I had a few 'fish niblets' in my Fish Bowl Poutine that were mostly undercooked batter. My husband's fries were all the little busted up bits you'd get at the bottom of a frozen bag of fries. My poutine had better fries, but I was very suspect about the gravy. It tasted... fishy, which seems understandable from a fish place, but it was in a non-good fishy way. Like... off. Or spoiled. My husband made quick work of it and survived so I'm going to guess it's just a fish gravy. Service was quick and friendly and we didn't have to wait long for our food, but I think I will stick to my usual Sue's Seafood on Claire Ave.
Can't go wrong with the fish at this place. Order is usually prepared quickly and always fresh.
First time having there food was an awesome tasting meal will be going back for more There poutine fish bowl is so yummy
Always good!
Service
Made an order for delivery. Took over an hour to get here when I live two blocks away! Then they tell me they don't take debit and that they know no one that does! Plus delivery is 6 bucks! Never again
DELICIOUS!
Good food, nice workers
