With personally over 15 years in the hospitality industry, I can honestly say that FSB's decision to open in Port is an exceedingly welcome one. An inspired menu for a town stuck in culinary decay. In tandem with Smoking Buddha, Port Colborne is becoming a destination dining town. Keep up the good work, guys. This town has finally made it into the 21st century.

Delicious food and nice patio! I ordered their falafel wrap with broccoli salad, my husband order the chipotle chicken sandwich with broccoli salad and my mother ordered the nann bread pizza with garden salad and they were all very good. Good portions and very friendly staff. Would definitely recommend this place for an affordable and yummy meal!

Went for lunch. Food was very good would give it a 5 star for food but the service wasn't good at all. We arrived before other tables that were served before us. It seemed as though they need some organization for this not to happen. We didn't order anything that should have taken any longer than anyone else's. The guy from the kitchen and brought the food and topped up our drinks.Our waitress came back once to check if we wanted dessert and then brought our checks but never returned and never said if you had to pay anywhere other than the table.We saw her taking the debit machine to many tables but never returned to ours. I needed change and finally my Mom found some change for the 20 I had and we left. NOT SURE IF I WILL RETURN.

My wife and I both had the prime rib dinner for mothers day. The portions were great but overall we were not impressed with the meal. Everything was ... ok. The beef wraps for an appetizer were meh. The strawberry short cake was actually blueberry shortcake and was really hard. Carrot cake was alright. Will not be going back.

My friends and I decided to give this little bistro a try for brunch. Upon arriving we were seated immediately in the outdoor patio. Our table was dirty with bits of food (probably from the previous guests). We had to ask the server to clean the table. We ordered 3 dishes: the quiche, seafood pasta & eggs benedict with ham. Portions are an average size. I enjoyed all three dishes. The hollandaise sauce on the eggs benedict was a highlight. I would dine here again if I was in the area, but I would not travel for this place. 4/5

Can't say enough good things about this place. We showed up at 8pm for a later dinner and, even though we were the only ones there after 9, they happily let us enjoy a drink while they closed up and insisted repeatedly there was no rush to leave. Truly a service-oriented spot. The food was superb (always is - we love this place for brunch!) but tonight really solidified this as a top spot for us. Only downside is the challenge of deciding what dish to order from their tempting menu! The healthier options are a huge bonus. A must try.

Cute little bistro spot in Port Colborne across from the canal. Great for date nights or just dinner with friends. Went on a Thursday and they had a great date night special on with 2 prime rib dinners and a bottle of wine for $60! Well worth it. The rest of the menu sounded delicious. Can't wait to try some more from the menu.

I have ate here and I am one of their employees I love the job and my employers. I get a lot of great complements and I get to chat with great people who are so very pleasant and respectful. This environment is the best to keep me busy working and talking with new everyday. I have not stopped talking about The Flying Squirrel their menu and the wide variety of baked goods. I could stay with this place for a long time. So warm and friendly and helpful and welcoming to all people.

I do love this place. First restaurant I've returned to since moving to Port Colborne. Fantastic food, very well done. Lovely atmosphere, staff are welcoming and humble. I plan on enjoying many nights out with the wife to this lovely place. Update (2021): Honestly this place has been the constant shining light for me and my wife over the last year and a half of COVID dreariness. We've ordered their prime rib combo many times and everytime have appreciated the experience we've had in our home as though we were having it in their restaurant. The people who work there, those who delivered the food, all I can't say how much I appreciate. A humble business that makes food I am honored to eat. I can't thank these people enough for the moments they have given my wife and I over these difficult times. We have four children and it's nearly impossible to find time to spend together exclusively without a pandemic. That we can order something from people we appreciate like we do the Flying Squirrel, it's not possoble to properly express our gratitude. We're so happy to be here in Port Colborne, and even happier to give business to good people.

The food was good service was incredibly horrible I had to ask for a fork and a knife and a spoon I had to ask for water I had to ask for coffee no one asked if I was enjoying my food or if it was okay I was just served once and left alone when it was time to leave I had to ask someone to take my money no one was paying attention I typically give three tries but this place only gets one try that was the most horrible experience I've ever had nothing like being ignored and there was only five people in the entire restaurant

Dining room- needs painting, mismatched chairs, some just plastic bucket type, tables rather industrial looking, plants dying. Overall a rather “tired” place. Menu- At first glance, adequate while perhaps a bit heavy on appetizers and light on meals. I ordered the Shaved NY Striploin sandwich with a side of Borscht. The soup was brought with the sandwich which made it difficult to eat without something getting cold. The Borscht was ok. Lacking beets and needed to have been degreased. It was tepid at best. The sandwich was a good idea lacking in execution. Meat was ok , needed seasoning, fried onions were bland as was the goopy mozzarella. The only flavour was from the horseradish sauce which would have been great had the cook spread it over the whole sandwich. My wife had the quiche with phyllo crust. She said it was quite good but not hot enough. The salad that came with was an uninspired pile of green with raw onion. Though the desserts looked very nice we didn’t have any. The atmosphere was as though nobody really cared about the place. Service was friendly but flat. Very minimum of attention to guests. Would we return? Not likely, which is sad because we live in Port now and enjoy eating out a few times a week.

Nice place with very good attention. Staff polite and respectful and the food was very good. I want to emphasize the good gesture that they had not charging me a cake, for having delayed just 20 minutes to serve it. My wife insisted on paying it but they decided to not charging it. These are the simple people gestures that make Canada a great country. I will not forget my visit to Ontario and of course I will not forget Flying Squirrel Coffee. :)

I took my husband here for Father's Day for the first time. The salad was unusual, but tasty. The main course was fabulous. I had the special which consisted of a New York Strip with large shrimp on top of the steak, a large lobster cake, grilled asparagus spears, grilled zucchini medallions, carrots and a wonderful gravy on the steak. My husband ordered prime rib but it turned out to be a bit tough which is unusual, so the waitress kindly exchanged it for a strip steak which he said was perfect. Everything was perfectly delicious .... far better than anything we've had at The Keg. We'll be back for sure! Thanks for the great experience at The Flying Squirrel.

My wife and I have driven by this restaurant several times and we would always say that we have to stop there and check it out. Recently we were going by and the canal bridge was up. We looked at each other and said this sounds like a good time to go. A quick turn around and we were sitting outside with a great view of ships going through the canal. We were promptly served by a very pleasant server named Cole. My wife had an amazing salad and I had one of the best burgers I have ever eaten accompanied by tasty potato wedges. Prices are fair, food is excellent and service is top notch. You gotta eat here.

I had not been to our cottage for some time due to Covid, but was up in late October to do some work. A friend suggested takeout from the Flying Squirrel, and since we always had good meals there, I went for it. I ordered the haddock ‘dinner in a box’, along with a piece of pie, and both were spectacular. I’m not sure if I’ve ever had such a good takeout meal. Can’t wait to do this again.

It looked like a really nice cozy place. This being called a coffee lounge, I thought it would be a good place to get a latte to go since there are not many options in a small town. At first I was surprised to see that she gets an "Illy" pouch and uses it to make an espresso for the latte... I was expecting a fresh ground coffee espresso as a base. Then she steamed the milk and when I got my to-go cup, it was so hot that it was burning and needed a cup sleeve and a napkin on top...having my own machine at home, I know the basics, and milk gets burned when it gets too hot and the taste changes significantly. Overall, disappointed that a place called "coffee lounge" can't invest a bit in a decent espresso machine and also use some local coffee beans which would be fresher... For $4 I could have went to Tim Hortons and got their latte for cheaper and not as bad..i have to say I had a good cookie and food might be good, but I'm talking here for anybody that would love an espresso based drink...not the place! 3 stars was because the cookie was good.

The Flying Squirrel is an amazing little spot located in downtown Ridgeway. The food and drinks are always great and the service is always prompt. The ahi tuna salad was amazing. Make sure you try their delicious desserts as well - we had strawberry rhubarb meringue pie and it was mouthwatering.

We went to the squirrel for my husband's birthday it was great as always we were going to order out on Thursday but instead made reservations for Friday for the patio and to our surprise they had mad a few changes to the menu. I had a hard time deciding but had liver n onions they included Cooked apple which was a nice surprise n my Husband had his usual Prime Rib which was excellent as always recommend if your in Port Colborne to give the Flying Squirrel a try

Husband ordered dinner on today( Mother’s Day) waited and hour and a half no food arrived, charged his credit card the full cost of the dinner and now the restaurant is closed and they wont return his call. This is extremely bad business and we lost out on just under 100$. Do not order from here.

Really hard to get to, with the road closures. However, the food is amazing. Guaranteed the best you will ever try. Update: I have more time now. Trust me, I go to a lot of restaurants (bring a busy single mom, fortunately we need to eat out several times a month). This restaurant is one of the best I have ever been to. They have sophisticated meals for adults and options kids love, like chicken fingers. Try their baked peaches, and smoked salmon rolls. Yum. So savory! Taste combinations that are divine. Their apple-blueberry salad is delicious. They have vegetarian and meat options. Next time I am trying their sweet potato burger!

We cannot give this place enough stars! Fabulous is an understatement. Very cute atmosphere, nice patio dining on the canal. Will be back over and over and over again. The mediteranian bread basket is amazing! U won't be disappointed. We also had the steak with real mashed red skin potatoes and delicious freshly herded veggies . Amazing meal. Their burger is real and huge and delicious. Mexican rice bowl was ok. And the falafel wrap with salad is fabulous! The desserts r also housematde and excellent . Do not miss this place! A total gem!

We were excited to try this restaurant after checking up the reviews. We walked in and were told that we could have a seat wherever we wanted. While we were waiting, we saw the people after us getting their menu and drinks. I got the menus myself as she looked busy and waited a server to come to our table. She cleaned up the table right beside us but didn't check us up or say she would be with us in a minute. First impression wasn't that impressive and probably won't go again to be neglected.

I got a burger after seeing the advertisement for burger Wednesday thinking these burgers were on par with other gourmet burgers I’ve gotten around Niagara. The meat was either a frozen box patty or maybe it was mostly pork not beef ? I ate half didn’t even finish it & the bun was a cheapest you can get as well. That being said this isn’t the place you go for a burger so idk what I expected as I’ve heard everything else from here is great. My recommendation is a handmade patty which isn’t hard to do and get some nicer buns OR sell your burger cheap because that’s what it is. If you want to charge premium for burgers go see what they do at the break wall and follow them. I’d take a Harvey’s angus over this anyway and that’s not right. TLDR Burger bad restaurant good

What a wonderful Bistro the Flying Squirrel is! My hubs Laur and I ride our bikes on a regular basis from St. Catharines to Port Colborne and back. Laur went on the www and this place came up. It was better than we could have imagined. Very interesting décor. Excellent food and lots of if. Lots of choices for vegans or carnivores or anywhere in between. And our server was excellent. The food and drinks were very well priced. If you want a licensed beverage, you can have one. And they have a huge array of fabulous looking desserts. We'll be back!

Delicious food. Good quality ingredients and you can tell they really care about what they serve. I like the atmosphere and the music they play is great. My only complaint is that the portions are too small. For what they charge ($7-9 per salad) I should walk away feeling somewhat full. I only weigh 115 lbs and I left hungry. Hope they can remedy this because it's a nice little place.

Service was good. Two of us went for dinner around 5pm on a Saturday and got a table no problem. We both had the perch special, which was lightly breaded perch, with potato wedges and coleslaw. It was a mediocre meal that left us disappointed as we love Lake Erie perch. The food was bland, the breading on the perch was was unappetizing and the potatoes weren't cooked fully. I would not eat here again.

Just ok. Our group of 7 was easily accommodated, server was nice. Ontario wines are priced lower than imported, a classy move to support the local industry. Desserts were homemade and very delicious! Appetizers were very tasty too. Mains read well on the menu -- interesting and tempting. 3 of our steaks were served overcooked, and the pasta with seafood wasn't very meaty. But the worst part in my mind was that when they served our dinners, the owner/manager told me that my baked haddock had been burnt by the chef, and that "these things happen sometimes." Disappointing; I expect more from a restaurant with these price points. However, in fairness they did bring a house salad to me so I wasn't the only one in our party without food -- a considerate but underwhelming gesture.

Amazing Food. We tried quite a few things. We had a Table of 7. The Sushi Bowl, Chipotle Raspberry Chicken, & the Naan Pizza were S Good. Everyone else got the Pasta of the Day. Everything was excellent. Their Cake Slices are incredible all on their own. I would most definitely go back. It is Wheelchair Accessible.

Waitresses weren't wearing masks, atmosphere was strange and unorganized, and the decor was very tacky. Veggie burger was not a burger but on a pita and with a salad COVERED in oil that soaked through the pita and was inedible. Regular burger came with wedges that were cold, bland and unsalted. Overpriced and overall terrible experience.

Came here for date night with my wife. The name threw us off a bit because it sounded like a standard, burger and fries family dining joint. We were pleasantly surprised by its bistro feel and menu. Two days later we were still thinking about the awesome coffee. I had the lake Erie perch and my wife had the prime rib, both were excellent! Definitely worth going back

I’m mad I didn’t get more pics but everything was absolutely delicious! Our server said all items are made in-house and I believe it. The tartar sauce for the pan-fried perch and potatoes was the best I’ve ever had. I only got a shot of this pecan pie my brother-in-law had but no pic would have done anything justice anyhow. You could taste the freshness and homemade attention to detail. Definite recommending anyone in the area try this place out.
