Awesome shop! Always coming here for my rat food, Oxbow to be exact, used to go to PaulMacs for it but they sell it for a bit cheaper here. Always grabbing treats at the cash for the rats and my old dog! They loved my bearded dragon to bits when I brought her in and the staff were very happy to see how friendly she was always wanting some lovings and attention from people! I used to bring my rabbit here for nail trimmings and never had a bad experience, had one experience with a newer groomer at the time where he trimmed a bit too much and was a bit quick but after that time, he knew Kips limits and comfort boundaries and never had a better experience! Best prices as well for crickets and worms, all the lizards always very happy when I come home with worms for them!

I'm not from the province, but was here visiting a friend. I'm big into fish keeping and went in to see if I could find anything to bring home plus browse. They had a great assortment of fish that you don't see often I wish I could bring some home. I did notice that the plants didn't look good,and there were unhealthy fish, but to be honest fish get shipped not healthy and things happen. I did find some of the care of the reptiles and birds poor. The employees themselves were great. Seemed very knowledgeable and passionate. I know that the way things are aren't always in their control. Store managers and corporate decide that stuff. I work in a pets store myself. Overall enjoyed the visit.

I had a horrible experience here today. I went in yesterday to pick up an order I placed online. They didn’t have two of the items I wanted so they had asked if I wanted the larger size and I said no, (they were way more expensive) but noticed when I got home that I was charged for one of those items I didn’t want/receive. When I went back the next day to get a refund on the item I DIDNT RECEIVE the employee was rude from the get go and kept asking multiple times (very rudely) if I was sure that the item wasn’t in my bag, and I kept saying no I didn’t have it, I wouldn’t have come in for a refund if I did. All I wanted was my money back for a mistake that THEY made in the first place. There was no need for the employee to be rude, I understand she needs to ask certain questions but she was rude right from the beginning. I won’t be coming back here. This isn’t the first I’ve experienced this at this store, but I gave them the benefit of the doubt.

Clean facility, they have rabbits, various reptiles and rodents, loads of supplies for fish, rodents, dogs, cats......there are terrariums and supplies as well as aquariums and supplies in stock as well. There are two nice dog washing stations at the back of the store as well. Staff were cleaning live animal cages when we were there. A well kept and clean facility.

Horrible experience ever and the worst customer service. Brought my dog for self serve dog wash to which the owner himself said that two people cant be with the dog to wash even after explaining that my dog hates wash and need somebody to constantly hold him or distract him while the other person washes him he said your husky is not the only husky that comes here its Ridiculous, this kind of response coming from the owner himself. When i told him that me and my husband just showered my dog there last week TOGETHER and the staff had no problem and we have been doing it the whole pandemic this is the first time i heard that two people cant shower the dog when we literally come from same house and are alone in the dog wash area. Owner have Zero knowledge about anything the staff knows more. If there was an option of zero star i would have given that. Go to pet valu on bunting road way better and friendly customer service. I would not recommend to anybody and never coming back.

If you are avid pet owners, albeit mice rats hamsters or little gold fish, dogs/cats, well you have the right place. They have the largest selection of brands. Canned and dry for all animals alike (not sure about exotic animal). The place is rather pricy, but they have the best brand of foods and cost shouldn't matter. The Dollarama stuff is bed for animals, upgrade to healthy choices for your animals. The sales people are so nice and the stores are always so welcoming. I have been customer for 20+ years and I would never go anywhere else.

It is a shame my last experience was not a good one as I had found that my previous experiences had been good. I was looking for a hand grooming glove for our Westies. The lady at the counter recommended a glove, so I spent the $12+ taxes. I tried the glove on the dogs and it did not do the job. I brought the glove back and was told "Any item that is for pet hygiene cannot be returned as stated on the company's web site". The clerk was adamant even though she had recommended and sold me this item. I politely told her to tear up Blue Mountain dog food card and that I would not be returning. I now go elsewhere.

Sadly last week we had to say goodbye to Stratton, our dearly loved Westie of 13 years. Due to his condition I was required to seek out a particular food for his diet and Pet Valu was one place I was able to source out that brand. Colin assisted me numerous times in getting me that particular food when other Pet Stores couldn't. He was always friendly, courteous, quick to help and very efficient at the task. The owner also stepped up and got involved as well. I will forever be appreciative of Colin's work ethic and performance. I found the store always clean, organized and fully on board with all the Covid protocols. Any chance I get at my business to recommend this business I will certainly share how pleased I was with the store, the staff and the owner of Pet Valu, Perth.

I give a 5 for the other employees but what I believe may have been The manager ( was an older lady) was extremely rude to my grandma.. my grandma is deaf and she relies on lip reading or writing things down and her mask wasn't properly on and yes I understand it's a pandemic but clearly she couldn't hear the worker was yelling at her to fix her mask and once I told her she was deaf the lady still continued to raise her voice at her... my grandma can't hear you and needs to read lips or have things Written down she acted like my grandma was ignoring her even though it should have been clear she couldn't hear her so this lady working needs to learn to properly deal with people with disabilities (should be a basic training practice at all work places) especially since the pandemic has made it harder for people that can't hear..very disappointed at how this lady handled things.

Owner // manager lady seems pretty uneducated on dog related tools. Tried to get my dog shoes for the hot pavement and was told they wouldn't sell them to me because they think they're winter only items. I tried to further explain they would only be on during trips on the pavement as they are for my service animal and was still shot down. The variety of food and treats is good but when it comes to gear I've never found anything there.

Went to this store to get a new bird after the one that we had passed away. And the two people in the store basically intagerated my mom and I asking what we did wrong. Questions they asked: " How did it die?" "What were you doing when it died?" " Were you cooking? The fumes would kill it." "How old was the bird because they record age is 30." The bird (budgie) was about 8 years old. Which is their life span of 5-10 years. They told us they can life to about 30. Not true. Made us feel like we did something wrong to cause the death of our bird after we were devastated that our beloved bird had passed. I do not go to this pet value anymore as they have lost a customer. I go to the one on Prince street. The staff on Prince street are more friendlier than the staff at pet value on grand lake road.

I often stop by here to browse after work, but the other day I stopped by while waiting for someone else. The guy working at the register was AMAZING. I brought up how I'm looking in to getting a kitten, and he was so helpful. He gave me a little booklet for new pet owners with some coupons in it, some free samples of kitten food, and some free dog treat samples for the dogs I meet and sit. I'm dissapointed that I forgot to ask for his name. The other times I go there, the staff are welcoming and helpful too, this is just my most recent instance. 10/10, will reccomend to anyone with a pet.

Just came home from this pet valu and I have to say I really think they they need to change their name. It might be dog and cat valu but there is no valu for any other pet. Their selection of small animal food is extremely limited and the prices are anything but value. If you own anything other than a cat or dog go elsewhere.

Both their own website and Google says they are open until 8, but they closed at 6. Drove half an hour to come get dog food and was turned away at the door with claims of "that's Google not us", even if that were the case (which it's not) it is one of the most simple processes in the world to have your hours on Google changed and any professional establishment would have no trouble doing so. I am very unhappy with the way they charge for dog grooming. Though they clearly post that prices of dog grooming services are charged by weight of the dog, I was charged more because they told me that they determined that my dog was a large dog even though she was under the weight category. Compounding my displeasure with this determination is the fact that my dog has very thin hair and there was very little challenge in trimming her face,feet and fanny. They should follow their advertised prices. !!! Very unhappy. I will not go back.

I also don't know what UNKNOWN is talking about below... I've been purchasing my pet's food at this location for years and I've never seen any sort of neglect or abuse. There's an abundance of food choices for all animals out there, and also a variety of toys for all size and breed of animal. I've asked in the past and received great advice. I also believe they offer free nail trims, if it's still not available it once was... nice touch!. Yesterday, I went in and purchased my usual brand of food, the person who was behind the counter (i believe it was the manager/owner) inquired if this was the food that I'd always purchased? I said yes (but I had been considering changing because of some of the things I'd heard about the brand I'd been buying - not that I told him that) with that he then explained the ingredient list on the bag and what they all meant,... FINALLY!. I've read that bag countless times, tried to look up the ingredients, all I ended up doing was getting stuck on an endless quest for the definitive answer as to what they all meant. Page after page of information, some for, some against. I was HAPPY to listen to his unsolicited advise. Not only that, he THEN went in the back, got me not ONE but TWO bags of food to sample!!!. I almost fell over. It's a big deal to change your pets food, I've asked for a sample at places in the past and was told to pay 5 bucks and they'd provide a sample.... That's customer service?? With that, I intend to be a LOYAL customer to this Pet Valu, I have been for quite some time but with the new addition of that other store in town, I will admit I did try it, After yesterday I'll never go back.
