Everyone is so nice and helpful. I'm the type of person who takes forever to make a decision on things. They answered all of my questions helped me pick out the things I would need to get for my new hamster. I told them how much I had to spend and that I only wanted the essential things and I left with just that and money left over. They are all animal lovers so they only sell products they will/would use. I was there for over a hour and they never once looked irritated with me or my questions. And when I was finally all packed and ready to take our new pet home, they informed me that if for some reason it didn't work out they would take him back no questions asked.

Although the prices seemed a tad higher than other, bigger chain-stores, the selection is definitely worth the small shift in price. I find that they carry things that are either hard to find, or you didn't even know existed! Very friendly and knowledgeable staff who are just a friendly conversation away to help you with all of your individual pet needs!

Experienced staff are willing to go the extra mile. other pet stores sell you too much extra stuff (you need a heater, and this special lighting and this kind of food etc.) where Pet Circus makes sure you are appropriately equiped rather than over equiped! NOT IMPRESSED! After payeing a lot of money for just one medium large rat feeder for my snake I returned home defrosting it as usual, when all of a sudden a bad oder coming from the feeder . Pet Circus is the only pet store we frequent and all of our furry friends have come from this store! All staff are super super friendly and are very helpful&knowledgeable if you have care questions. They have a really great selection of small animal and reptile related products, definitely superior to box stores. Prices are competitive or lower than box stores as well! They've been super accommodating when we ask them if they can source certain products for us that are harder to find. We've placed orders for Neo cages and Mazuri food through Pet Circus. If there's something you need that they don't have, please consider ordering through this local small business :)

Absolutely awesome. I got a tiny little Budgie, at extremely reasonable price. Any questions I had were happily answered, and my bird is in excellent health physically as well as mentally. I will certainly be returning many, many times. Edit: 3 months in, Pasha and I are very closely bonded. This little bird is a joy to have around. Very bright, energetic, and curious. When I got him he was too young to sex, but his now purple ceres indicate he is a male.

Good selection, nice store but I wanted to switch flavors of Fromm dog food and was brushed off by the staff (interrupted a personal convo between the staff at the cash - no customers in the store) and given a sample bag without being able to discuss fat content, allergies etc. within the line of foods. I mentioned that my dog has pancreatitis and needs to be on a low fat diet but I was looking to up the fat % slightly. The sample I was given is CAT food and is quite high in protein and fat. Sorry for taking up so much of your time I guess....

Pet circus is a good sized independent pet store for the area. I have been able to find most of what I've needed without any issue. The staff have been friendly and helpful every time I've come in. They have a good selection of cat food, focusing on the grain free, non-junk food varieties. I have not tried the frozen raw diet available, as my cat does not like it, but I appreciate that it is available. My only 'issue' is that I have never seen much of anything on sale, aside from manufacturer's discounts. Obviously, they don't have to, but it means that if I'm looking for a deal, I often go elsewhere.

I've only ever been here a couple of times, but their staff is always so helpful. They have a good variety of canned cat food and cat trees. The only thing I've noticed is that a lot of the canned foods for cats are loaf/pates. I just have a preference for slices, because my cats somehow always seen to make a mess out of the loaves, but it's not really a big deal.

First timer at this store, happens to be on the walk to my car and my dog needed food. First glance prices were high but the food was also high quality, decided to pass was walking out until the clerk acknowledged me, extremely friendly pointed me to more reasonably but quality ingredient dog food (canadian made no less!) I am keen on dog food having meat as its first ingredient so this fit the bill, to boot they advised of a loyalty program for the dog food (10th bag is free) and gave me a decent dog chew toy for free! Thats how you build customers, highly recommend the place!

Such a shame that I moved to Ottawa a few years back but only learned about this pet store in 2021! Absolutely wonderful customer service - available stock for essential items and online store up-to-date and payment system easy to use. Ordered a few items for tank cycling this AM and items were ready to pickup within 30min. Store is located is a very walkable area accessible by public transit, but also has parking around. Please support local stores during the COVID-19 lockdown!!!

I really liked this place, nice staff, good selection & prices... My only complaint is the past 3 times I've been in here I've been charge $1.98 for something I didn't buy.. Hard to tell with the it only saying "dog supply", I know-- but it's pretty easy to tell once you count items to things you were charged for. The first time I thought it was a one-off mistake, but apparently not as it's happened 2 more times (which is super frustrating when you get home with your dog & actually have a chance to check.) Will be checking my receipt BEFORE I leave next time to make sure I don't get charged such a fourth time & I suggest others do as well as I don't know why they've collected $6 from me for nothing. Truly bizarre.

Went in today to find an aquarium (translation: I was going to spend some decent money). Stood at the aquariums for over 15 minutes, and not once did anyone who works there come to see if I needed any assistance. Actually, come to think of it, the person working the cash didn't even acknowledge my hello when I walked in....a clear sign that I probably should have left. Regardless, customer service is clearly not their strong point. I'll be happy to spend more money elsewhere to have some sort of verbal interaction with knowledgeable staff. A big FAIL for Pet Circus.

Went in to buy some cichlids and was very taken back by the conditions that their tanks were in. They were very poorly kept and obviously haven't been cleaned in a while. There were dead fish floating in tanks, I informed an employee and ended up going back in the next day to find the same floating dead fish still inside the tank with the rest of the fish. Very disappointing.

Been going here for years, even got one of our cats here (they come from a rescue in Smith's Falls). Staff is helpful, they have almost everything you would need. Have a loyalty program where if you buy X number of bags of food you get a free one. Prices aren't unreasonable.

The best pet store in Centretown! I have a snake addiction and they are the perfect pet shop to help me with anything my snakes need. I wish they had a bit more of a variety of snakes available, but at least they have snakes at all! Typically have regular ball pythons and corn snakes in stock. Hognose, boas, or other morphs of ball pythons would be cool to see! All in all, they are the only pet store I buy my snake supplies from and I don't think that will ever change as long as I'm in the area.

Nov 21-Today was a great day for coat shopping and picking up some fresh treats Edited again Oct 22-I have continued to frequent this little store as my dog loves the fresh food they carry and the customer service is top notch. Edited again Sept 3--each time I edit another star gets added as my experiences continue to improve on each visit. Today there was a warm welcome as soon as I walked in not to mention an employee who went above and beyond to check a policy for me. Edited August 1--I have been back a few times and the service was a tad friendlier. Original Review--This store is conveniently located near to where I live and I was hoping to have found a new place to purchase my pets products. The store is not welcoming and neither are the staff. When you walk in it feels cluttered and a little overwhelming with no signage indicating what is where and neither an employee to help out. On that note, when I did walk through and find an employee available, she gave me a brief hello and I got the impression that I was interrupting her. I perused the store and when I finally ran into said employee to ask her a question I literally got one word answers with no offer of assistance or even inquiry as to what my needs were. When I finally specified what my situation was she referred me to one product that she said her boss used for his dog. She then pointed to him (who at the time was on a latter and clearly busy) to say " there he is you can ask him so you know I am not lying". I did manage to get a little feedback from him with much prompting before making my first and possibly my last purchase at this store. There are a many pet stores in the area and I really appreciate good customer service, especially when exploring new products for my pets. The good news is that my dog did enjoy his first plate of the new recommended food. Hopefully that trend will last as he is quite picky. I try to support small business however that does come with certain expectations.

Was looking for green tree frogs for my son, but due to covid19 had lots of trouble finding the little guys. Thankfully a gentleman off kijji suggested Pet Circus mentioning he had seen them there. Unfortunately being an hour west of the city without vehicle, I was hesitant to make the trip. I called ahead of time... twice that week and thankfully the gentlemen took my name and said he would hold 2 for us. I went on Friday and they couldnt have made my buying any smoother. Not only did they have the cuttest little American green tree frogs, they also helpped me with the setup and lighting. Everything is perfect and both my sons could not be happier. I would suggest this place not only for avalibility of species but customer service was out standing! Check this pet shop out if you have the chance! I am gald I did.

Sad I didn’t find this gem sooner. Recently decided to adopt two rats and had been looking for a cage and supplies - as well as general information - from bigger chain stores such as PetSmart. I was having trouble finding a large enough cage (most small cages are so small that they just seem cruel to me) but was able to track one down at Pet Circus. I went in to look at it and the lady that helped me was so knowledgeable, honest and helpful. I’ve asked similar questions at larger pet stores and they didn’t have clear answers for me. Through her explanations she also indirectly convinced me to return to purchase my animal from them as well as they get their animals from a local breeder who socializes and handles the animals (unlike PetSmart whom gets their animals from large rat mills). I’ll be returning to adopt my rats and will definitely opt to shop here primarily for my future needs.

Great place! I got three rats here and they are so friendly and sweet. The staff are all really helpful, and the stock is great too. You can tell the people here really care about animals and it shows in how healthy and well-adjusted my new rats are! There are three pet shops that are closer to where I live, but I will make the effort to go here when I can.

I cannot give this store enough stars. I've been living downtown for around 2 years and this little gem has become my favorite pet shop. For a small business, it has great prices! And the staff are always super friendly and knowledgeable! I've expanded my pet knowledge and my own number of pets through this store. Love my betta from here, got an amazing hamster who was the sweetest thing, and I've gotten so many harnesses and collars for my dog that are unique and so cute. I will never stop coming here!!

Best pet store in Ottawa by far, the prices are amazing. You'd think Big Als or petsmart would have better prices, but you'd be amazed. The animals are all healthy and well cared for, rarely ever do I see any dead fish. The betta cups are clean, the small animal waterbottles are full, and the reptiles are vibrant. The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. If you have trouble with your pets you can come in and ask for advice as well. A++ indeed.
