Everyone says this place is supreme! We went last night before Roger Hodgson show at Rama. 2 halibut and chips. Great price, as other places charge 17.00 for the same.............. The fish was good, but we both found that the chips tasted "heavy" I would say heavy like homefries..... Although you get a mountain of chips, it's too bad they are "heavy" tasting..... I would go back and just ask for 1/2 the chips.....and ask to adjust the bill accordingly. Service was great...and really fast.....

Welllllll...where should i begin. Amazing service started the experience. My husband and I ordered the 2 piece halibut and chips. Delicious is an understatement. Food portion size was almost double some other places. Well prepared. Not to much batter...and just crispy enough . Perfect balance. Im from Newfoundland and finding a dish as good as home...is not a easy feat. ????of fish and chips

Went in during a cold and snowy day around 4pm; it was not busy at all during this time so it was nice. Right when my boyfriend and I walk in the service and everyone was very friendly and welcoming! We ordered the Halibut special with two pieces and split it and it was sooooo delicious and fresh! The atmosphere was very warm and inviting. Prices are fairly cheap and a great go-go spot. Definitely will be coming back here when I visit again. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Everytime I come here.....its closed. Can you guys stay open since it's the year 2018 now and Orillia is growing like Barrie! I'm from Toronto and I came all the way here, because I had amazing fish and chips here once last year. Similar to the Fish and Chips as I did growing up in Britain! Stay open longer! It's Saturday and im sitting in the parking lot like an idiot right now! Thank you! And that Johnny Cash story below, I don't believe your story one bit. No one would ever turn off Johnny Cash. On the recommendation of long time Orillia residents, I had a take away of halibut and chips. I am in a constant search in my travels for the very best fish and chips and Duckworths does not disappoint. Crisp fish with flavorful batter and decent chips, golden brown and tasty! Good job Duckworths.

First time here. Quick dinner before a show at Casino Rama (10 minutes away). Choice of types of fish (haddock, halibut, cod, whitefish). Portions are healthy, both fries and fish. Asked for my onion rings well done. Arrived with crunchy coating on the outside, moist, tender onion on the inside. Recommendation for couples: one of you order the special and the other order fish a la carte. This will increase the odds of having room for a deep fried Mars bar for dessert. Service was great. Be prepared for a short wait for a table during the rush.

Stopped by for lunch on the way to the cottage. The fish and chips were good. Portions were large. I had gravy on the side and it went well with the fries. Service was great as well. Accurate and speedy. The only thing that threw me off was that the whole restaurant smelled like the bathroom (mildew).

If there were a seafood heaven, it would be here. This place has ruined me for any other fish and chips restaurant, and I cringe at any seafood place without a dedicated tartar sauce bottle. Their batter is an addiction, it doesn't taste or feel oily, it's all flavor and fish. Highly recommended you try their battered mushrooms, calamari and shill out the couple bucks for the halibut, you won't regret it.

I love this place! It is a great place to have fish and chips. They also have deep fried ice cream and deep fried mars bars, I usually get an appetizer and deep fried ice cream. I'm not in the area often, but when I am I make sure I stop by for a bite!

Breaks my heart to make this review, because we used to frequent Duckworth's in Scarborough and it was constantly good food - then we retired in Bobcaygeon. Today we had business to attend to in Orillia and for the last 4 days I looked forward to doing lunch at Duckworth's Orillia location. Unfortunately, it turned into a very unpleasant (to say the least) experience. We pulled into the parking lot at 11:45 AM, the 'open' sign was clearly light up. We parked near the entry door, which is about 4 or 5 parking spots (at that time empty) away from a big garbage bin dumpster at the other end of the parking lot. Exiting the car it hit us; overwhelming, horrible stench of rotten fish was in the air all over the parking spaces and the front of the restaurant, clearly and obviously emanating from the garbage bin. We walked nearly to the door when the smell of rotting fish became so overwhelming that we stopped and my wife, holding her nose exclaimed "no way" is she going in there! The stench was gagging strength! Maybe the wind was from the direction of the dumpster..... We made gestures, threw our arms up in disbelief, made faces at the windows, hoping that maybe they saw us from inside, we were driving a blue Dodge Caravan. Getting into the car we found the stench gagging us inside, pulled away and rolled the windows down. I could swear it was all over our cloths and our hair, disgusting, horrible experience. As I write this back at home, it is 5 PM and we still have not had any food. We showered but we still smell it (in our minds I'm sure, but nevertheless). This is something that did not have to happen, had the managers of the restaurant were more on the ball regarding garbage that is placed only about 40' away from the front entrance! This is not a location we will ever be able to eat at in the future.....

Visited this summer for take out after not eating there for a few years due to issues with the cleanliness of the restaurant. Didn’t get to go inside so can’t say whether or not that has improved. Fish was nice and was the highlight. Mushy peas tasted like they’d come out of a can rather than being homemade. Fries were soggy and greasy. Wouldn’t rush back.

On our first visit today i ordered Halibut and fries and my mom ordered her favorite Haddock with coleslaw and they offered up the homemade tartar sauce as well. We both agree we havent had a nicer fish and chip dinner anywhere, including the spot on Tartar sauce and fantastic coleslaw. Thank you Duckworths!

The place is very small and has very little parking but wow is the halibut good. I had the 2 piece house special it came with a fresh home made slice of bread and butter, a fairly large coleslaw 2 large pieces of halibut and a generous helping of fries. The meal was more then i could eat as i left half the slice of bread behind. Everything was delicious and everyone at our table of 8 was full and said the food was amazing. In my opinion its the best fish and chips in orillia. I'm sure others will debate me on this but it's my review lol enjoy.

Wow I’m surprised by the reviews because this place is very dirty have you seen in the kitchen and seen the washrooms they are disgusting next time you are there actually take a look so you trust to eat here and not get sick. Best fish and chips ever! The is my "go to" place to eat when I'm in the area. They use only top quality and you can tell....the fish is flavourful with a light batter and is never greasy! I usually get the seafood platter which includes a large portion of halibut, shrimp, and scallops. For a minimal charge, you can upgrade to a larger portion of shrimp and scallops.... well worth the extra money! Their fresh cut fries top off the experience and if you have a sweet tooth and can make room, the sticky toffee pudding is amazing. I could go on, but you seriously need to try!

Food was okay, staff were reasonable, price was typical for fish and chips. The reason I've given them a low rating is because I took my 91 year old grandfather out for lunch the day after my grandmother's funeral and I showed him the wonders of YouTube on my smart phone. I played him a song by Johnny Cash that he hadn't heard for decades and went to pay for lunch. When I got back to the table he told me that they must not like Johnny Cash here and that someone turned it off (I have no idea who). There were 2 other customers in the restaurant. I found this very rude and although everything else was fine, I can't stand rudeness in the hospitality service.

I told everyone how great the fish and fries were at this place and last Saturday I drove all the way from Parry sound to have my fish and chips. I had the biggest disappointment of my life. The fish was very greasy and the fries were absolutely terrible. Dark overdone and hard They are using the wrong potatoes for French fries If they keep serving food like this people will stop coming I won't be back
