This shop is a hidden gem!. I wish I found them sooner. Firstly the guys working were very friendly and helpful. They had a great assortment of shrimp and nano fish. Even fish supplies, plants, soil etc were top notch. Lots of things I can't find anywhere else. I was apparently there on a low stock day, so I'm curious what they have when they get a shipment. You can tell it's run by hobbyists with a passion.

Shrimp fever is the best fish store I have shopped at in the GTA. They take good care of their animals and have knowledgeable caring staff. When placing my order I had a number of questions sent by email, to which I recieved helpful responses within minutes. Shoutout to Esther for the great customer service. I ordered a range of shrimp, fish, and live plants to refresh my planted aquarium, and everything arrived happy and healthy. The fact that everything was reasonably priced was a bonus as well! They offer same day shipping by courier in the GTA (as well as other options for those further afield) which is great in the days of COVID. The fish and shrimp were double sealed with extra layers of fish bags, and the box was stuffeded with tons of recycled paper packing insulation. This gave the critters a nice, gentle journey and reduced their stress. The celestial pearl Danios I ordered had their full color and were exhibiting breeding behavior on the same day they arrived, which was unexpected and delightful. Thank you shrimp fever team! ????

I really enjoyed my first visit here and definitely recommend them to other hobbiest. Prices are fair and lower compared to other competitors. staff were very professional. Hands down, the best locally owned aquarium shop I've been to. Want to know anything about the world of Shrimp keeping? They know it all. Want honest to goodness people who want your success more than they want to upsell product? These are your people. I first went here after some folks at Big Al's suggested it, when I wanted to purchase shrimp for my aquarium. I had heard of it, but never really considered it because of bad experiences I've has at other LFS. I was so happy when, after spending an hour in their relatively small shop, they were still happy to answer my questions and provide a happy service. They've got shrimp for beginners, costing 2-4 dollars, and shrimps for serious hobbyists.. I saw some today that were half off, and still 50 bucks. (Endgame dream shrimp, right?) Since then, I've been back a half dozen times, and am happy to give them my business. Great service, a fantastic selection of Freshwater aquarium shrimp and things related, and great people who will guide you in the right direction.

TLDR; Mediocre service, Ordered online for pick-up, did not have order ready upon arrival, no communication between staff, Staff will not bother trying to get the fishes you want/picked out, There is a NON-CASH PAYMENT FEE of 2.75%, Receipt is emailed to you where it is noted that there is no refund or exchange for livestock unless you take photos of it in unopened bag, etc. Very small store, specializes in shrimp, good stock of different grades and types, prices will reflect the differences from low grade to high grade shrimp. Limited in plant stock and variety, small tank fishes available, usually unique breeds that are somewhat hard to find elsewhere, but often low in stock. Honestly, if you're not shopping for high grade shrimp, you won't be missing out if skip this place and check out the other dozens of fish, plants and shrimp stores around Toronto and the surround GTA. LONG VERSION Mediocre service. Placed an online order to pick-up locally (in person), even messaged them on their advertised facebook page to make sure that it was alright for me to do so, as I was coming from out of town, a neighboring city. Upon arriving, my order was not packed or ready for pick-up and the staff on duty did not even know about its existence, as apparently someone else handles the online orders. After the staff tries to contact a few people on the phone regarding my order, no one picks up, but staff proceeded to offer to pick my order off the order confirmation form from my phone, as they could not find the hard copy of the order in-store. It does not stop there, I also added fishes to the order while I was there. The staff handling my order did not bother to ask what ratio of male to female fishes I wanted, nor did they care. They just fished out the number of fishes needed into a bag. Secondly, when I asked for a specific fish, they decline and told me that it’d be too difficult for them to catch, the person did not even make any attempts to. When you walk into a store to buy pet fishes or shrimps, you’d want the choice to pick out which ones you wanted right? When you walk into a pet store and pick out a puppy, the staff should not tell you have this other puppy instead. Other things to note: I was not told about their livestock policy until I read my receipt when I got home as it is e-mailed to you. On top of that, there is a non-cash payment fee of 2.75% (which is essentially passing fees off to customers) which I was unaware of until I was ready to checkout. This fee of course will add up if you buy higher grade shrimp and/or have large orders, which I am surprised does not get waved if you buy ‘x’ amount of dollars, it really feels like a cash grab. Mind you my online order was about $150 and I added $40 dollars’ worth of fishes while I was there, overall I expect some kind of service. There are plenty of fish and shrimp stores around Toronto and the surround GTA. Shrimpfever is a very small store specializing in shrimp and does have a good selection of them, both in variety, grades and in stock quantity, all of which is reflected in their pricing, and trust me it can get pricy for a high grade shrimp. If you are looking for small tank fishes, it might be better to look elsewhere as the selection and quantity are limited. However they do carry small tank fishes that may be harder to find in other stores, act fast when there is a specific fish you’re after, as stocks deplete fairly quickly. Overall, service sucks, but I’ll have to continue to shop here if I cannot find the specific breed of fishes and/or shrimp I want elsewhere. Some advice: their online sales make their products and livestock affordable (just cross check with other sites), bring cash or order online to bypass the non-cash payment fee, pencil in some extra time when visiting this place in case your order is not ready.

I discovered ShrimpFever only recently as I was shopping online for aquarium shrimps. I was ecstatic to learn that I live within driving distance and have been ravaging their amazing collections of shrimp and fishes. The staff are both friendly and knowledgeable and their animals are in fantastic shape. Knock on wood, but not one of my little babies passed away yet, and I'm a first time aquarium owner with a small planted tank! I now have 23 shrimps -- 3 different types of Sulawesi, tons of various types of Neocaridinas, and nerite snailes and 2 micro Thai crabs. You know it's a good place when they advise you to NOT buy certain shrimps because of what I presently have and my water parameters. This is a gem of a place if you care about aquariums, tropical fish and of course, shrimp. The stock is super healthy, selection is unbelievable and the staff is knowledgeable and friendly. I've bought from them on numerous occasions and all of my purchases are still alive and doing very well. If you are in the neighbourhood - make sure to drop by and if you are not - it is well worth the drive.

So this was my first time ordering from Shrimp Fever and I want to give my honest review on how things went. Shrimp fever has a specialty in shrimp but I also noticed they have a pretty nice selection of nano fish that my LFS does not have. I ordered 12 green neon tetras, 10 pygmy cories and 10 Fire red Cherry Shrimp for my 20 gallon long. I selected the next day delivery because I'm about 5 hours away from where they are located and I wanted to make sure that all the fish and shrimp were in the bags for shortest time as possible. When I opened the package, there were a couple DOA shrimp but all the green neon tetras and cories were best quality I have seen. The DOA's i just contacted Tommy and he sorted it out for me since I got the next day delivery. My overall experience was really good. Tommy or whoever the staff that was on facebook with me were answering all my questions and they handled the DOA situation very well. My favourites from the order were the cories and the green neons which I find funny because they are called SHRIMP fever. Anyways I will order from them again sometime! Very very pleased!

Placed an order during a Canadian January for Red Cherry Shrimp. They arrived on the West Coast just a couple of days later. I was worried that with such cold weather, there could be a problem. They arrived in a very well insulated package with a large pocket warmer to keep them being frozen. Not one was DOA! I plan on purchasing more from Shrimp Fever.

Have been a repeat shopper for about 3 years, several features I like: 1. There is a very large selection. It's pretty annoying to go to someone and they don't have what you want, wasted time. 2. The selection is well curated and indexed online, so it can be found without issues. 3. All livestock arrived ALIVE, which ranks top for concerns. Any seller whose livestock arrives dead is not worth buying from. 4. The vendor is responsive to discussion by email. Several features I don't like: 1. Out of stock livestock and items shouldn't be searchable by default, there should be a toggle for it which is by default off.

Got some jades from big als from curb side, they looked like high grade(in the picture) but when I got them I was disappointed to see that they were very light and pretty much see through, that’s why I came to these guys and there jades are perfect. Ordered 5 Ghost shrimp back in mid December. After a long delay due to holiday hours, I finally received them in early Jan. They seemed healthy for 2 weeks, but then I noticed little strings attached to their tails. These strings increased in quantity and spread to other areas of the tank. After some research and consulting with a vet I found out that the shrimp were infected with horsehair worm (Nematomorpha) - a common parasite. Regardless of the common nature of the parasite, I've now had to dump more then the cost of the shrimp in Pimafix and Melafix in order to clear out the worms from my tank. Brought this up with the sales staff 2 days ago - who asked for pictures. I provided the pictures below and still have not heard back.

Prices are pretty high compared to other fish stores, tables are full of algae and snails so be careful buying plants here. Other than that staff are friendly and super helpful, selection of shrimp is impressive, and the fish they have look really cool.

Difficult to find, but completely worth it. Wide variety of freshwater aquarium shrimp to see. Some plants, fish and other invertebrates too. It is a small shop. Staff there was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. When looking for the place, be sure to look at the numbers as there isn't a big sign for the store.

My go to spot for all things aquarium! Tommy and his staff give out aquarium advice like it's candy on Halloween. It's always an enjoyable experience shopping there. They have a wide variety of invertebrates (shrimp, crabs, snails etc.) and fish suitable for nano aquariums. Tommy is also open to special ordering any species that might peak your interest. I rest easy knowing that when I purchase fish or shrimp from Shrimp fever that they are always healthy and thriving. I rarely, if ever, have any deaths from any livestock that I purchase from here. If I ever have any issues, Tommy is always there to help. Prices are excellent, especially on kits and for the quality of the livestock. They also carry specialty items that aren't available at other fish stores that I have visited. Overall a great shopping experience.

ShrimpFever has a great selection of shrimp and plants, and they're always good quality. Also some good fish, although that isn't their primary focus. My wife and I regularly drive 2+ hours to come here. We also did the same to pick up curbside orders during previous COVID shutdown. Online ordering is also a smooth process, and we have had good success with products shipped to us. The prices aren't cheap, but they are a fair price for a high quality product. I would, and often have, recommended this business to others.

I've been shopping at Shrimpfever for two years now, and my neos are totally fine and have basically taken over all my tanks, but honestly the reason I keep coming back is the neat rare nano fish they carry! The fact that their website is always up to date is a huge bonus, too. First, I am not the fish enthusiast, just the driver for the person, lol, but, having said that, I thought it was a good little independent fish place. Clean, small but seemed well organized. They really do have mainly only shrimp species, as the name would suggest. But they have a few varieties of other fish and even various live plants for your aquarium. The staff seemed to know what was necessary for the well-being and maintenance of the living things in the shop.

I have bought from this shop a few times, overall their fish qualities are very good except one time a school of like 15 rummy nose tetra died after a couple weeks. I believe the incident was due to the hospital tank water quality. Other than this incident, I bought some Cardinal Tetra, Octo cat from the shop, and all doing very good after 3 wks isolation. The only thing I recommend is to offer more discount and promotion when customers buy with qty. Keep up the hard work team.

We arrived 15 minutes before the place opened and didn’t realize they opened at 12. They still let us in and I was immediately fascinated by how beautiful the store was. The fish are extremely healthy and well kept (I did not see a single dead fish) and the costs are very close to big chain pet stores. I definitely will pay more for the good quality and healthy fish. Everyone was so kind and the dog was adorable! The fish are gorgeous! Best aquarium store I’ve ever been to. They definitely won a customer!

Overall pretty unimpressed with the quality I received for nearly a $400 order. Shrimps Colors are subpar and basically got all babies/youth. Paid for 2 “clumps” of guppy weed and I think they meant to put pinches. Shipping and packaging I will say was very good, no DOA from Ontario to Alberta. I’d say unless you’re looking for something very specific I wouldn’t order from here.

I ordered 20 pure blood black crystal shrimps Put them in a new tank specially for the pure blood When I got the order I notice the white color is not Pure white as it was mentioned. After breeding them I got now three red crystals in the tank. He is selling 20$ each. I waited to be in special and I paid 10$ each plus shipping It is all a lie and I have been cheated. Each shrimp in the tank is worth 3$ now.

Came by once to check their store. They are located on the other side of the buildings that isnt in the main parking area where Chatime etc is. It is a small store but it lives up to their name in that they specialize in Shrimp. If you were to buy shrimp I would suggest coming to this location rather than a typical fish store as you would most likely find much more premium Shrimp as well as more selection of Shrimp!

This has been my go to aquarium store since I first started coming here 2 years ago. There has always been a great selection of fish, invertebrates and plants. Every so often I'll find a unique or rare species that I've only seen that they carry. Great staff and helpful with recommendations. Helpful inidentifying pros and cons of different species and their unique care. Will definately continue to come here and hope to see the new location when everything is back to normal again!

I have placed 4 orders in the past 18 months. I was thrilled to find a Canadian fish store that ships to my door. I'm 3 hrs out of Edmonton and don't drive. So going to the airport is out of the question!! About me: I live in Hinton Alberta. Our lfs, is actually a Toy and Hobby store with some pet supplies and a tiny selection of common fish. Growing up my mom had 25 tanks and raised various fish. So I've been in the hobby 50 years. I was fortunate to experience the golden era of the private fish store and the guy with a garage lfs! They had incredible experience and knowledge and would share, even with a kid! So it's an amazing find to connect with Tommy and Shrimp Fever. He has quality, healthy stock. The majority is unique and hard to source. Definitely not available from the big box store!! I'm very frugal, so I always shop the incredible monthly sales. This helps to offset the cost of shipping! Now I've always gone with the mid grade shipping, for me my shipment always arrives in 48 hrs. It arrives in Edmonton in 24 hrs. Then I usually receive my order by noon the second day. Meaning a transit time of 48 hrs with Puralator. Yesterday I received my order of shrimp, fish and food. I had upgraded to breather bags and only lost 2 shrimp. I'd ordered 19 shrimp and 30 fish! So a very successful order! I like to place a large order, as the individual cost of shipping per animal is then acceptable. Canadian shipping is high due to a large country and small population! Not much a small business owner can do!! I used to sell on eBay, until shipping in 2014 made it prohibitively expensive. The shrimp and fish arrived healthy and in good condition. They're all doing great in my tank. It did take time to acclimate them as their water was cold compared to my tank. All were immediately active and eating after released in my tanks. They left Toronto temp was 21 and arrived 48 hrs later in hinton with a Temp of 8. I'm hoping to show customers, how resilient Tommy's stock is when shipping! Tommy has always been transparent with me and will answer any questions I have. He's kind enough to let me combine orders over 2 months, so I can take advantage of 2 different sales!! If weather is bad, they will hold shipping for more favourable conditions!! There's always a risk when shipping livestock; it's up to the buyer, to decide what is exceptable risk! I appreciate the option to pay by e transfer and save on the surcharge of using my credit card. Customers aren't aware that Credit Card Companies charge businesses up to 3% to use their credit card payment service!! I'm thankful to have a brick and mortar private fish store, who specializes in shrimp, crayfish and nano fish that ships Canada wide! The big box stores have limited selection and usually the livestock isn't the healthiest. On occasion when I buy livebearers from big box stores, I quarantine for at least 3 weeks and I will usually lose 3-4 fish out of 12. There's no money back guarantee for me as I'm out of town and not returning within 2-3 weeks!! So this is my honest opinion of Shrimp Fever. It's a very addictive store with great inventory and a very knowledgable owner!! I'm lucky I don't live in Toronto, or I'd have my own nano fish and shrimp room! Currently 2 55 gal and 4 30 gal tanks. I've several 10 gal tanks in dry dock ????.

I am new to this hobby and is setting up a new tank. I find this place on Google and decided to pay a visit. Small place but amazed by the different types of pet shrimp available there. No other aquarium store in GTA has this amount of variety. Spoke with the store keeper about new tank setup for beginner and got a lot of great advice. Very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Amazing little store for aquarium enthusiasts! While the place may not look like much from the outside, they have a huge selection of invertebrates (shrimps, crabs, snails) and some hard to find fish species! The animals are separated into different grades, and you can find some high quality aquarium animals here. The tanks in the store are extremely clean, and you can tell the animals have been taken care of properly. Make sure you check out the pom pom crabs, they are very cute!

Customer service and shipping was fine. I bought 22 shrimp and all were dead within a month. These guys use imports and I'm pretty sure they don't quarantine either. I basically spent $100 to introduce Scutariella japonica to the rest of my community. Will never purchase from again. Edit after their reply: Obviously the scutariella didn't kill the shrimp, the fact that they're not quarantined imports is. It's obvious you're not handling the shrimp with care by the look of them. I bought 20 from a local breeder 2 weeks later and they're ALL alive still. I am removing the scutariella from my still living shrimp by salt bath, but it was introduced by your poor quality import shrimp.

Very friendly environment and cares about their customer as well as the fish. Kit was super helpful and knowledgeable, he shared many tips and advice for properly caring the fishes and plants in the aquarium and it helped me a lot as a beginner fish keeper. Staff is very friendly and helpful, and very reasonable with any issues with purchases. I just wish the prices were a little better. I'm sure this place is great for exotic shrimp breeds that are hard to find, but non-red neocardina shrimp are widely available from breeders in the GTA for about half of the prices here or less.

Large variety of shrimp, and often a nice stocking of crayfish and other nano fish. I've seen some very nice dwarf cichlids as well - it is worth stopping in for a look regularly. They can often have pretty poor communication and have failed to follow up with me when they said they would, but everything has worked out and there were no complications as a result. The only reason for a 4 star instead of a 5 is the poor communication.

Even though I only bought 6 of the very least expensive cherry shrimp (so like $8 total), every time I’ve had any questions or problems with my tank since then, Tommy has helped me troubleshoot my tank over email. This place it is super expensive and over priced for the their shrimps and fishes. Also some time after you got home they die the next day. So it makes every more upsetting that you can only return it while they are still in the plastic bag. Theres pet shops like Big Al's and another one on south of midland and Lawarence call MJ they sell shrimps there too limited selections but you can get $2 shrimps there that are over $29.99 here. Even on Kijiji breeders sell them cheaper than them too. Shop around they are not the only place to get shimps and supplies.

I ordered 10 shrimp and two plants, recieved them in two days. Everything was on time and professional, even came with two berried shrimp. The plant portions were huge as well. Every time I order something online, i’m left disappointed and irritated with the entire transaction, but tommy took care of me every step of the way. The WORST store I’ve ever dealt with!!!!! All plants I bought from them died. Fish I bought from them also died... These guys seriously need to be checked... Most of their fish are wild caught and they never even quarantine/medicate their fish. The owner himself told me that they do not medicate fish “unless they are showing signs”... and all those signs will spark once you get your fish. If you do buy anything from them, make sure you have medications on hand and quarantine ANYTHING (even plants) you purchase from them. Either way you should always quarantine your new fish... but ESPECIALLY from this place! Costumer service is at it's lowest that it can be! They are ULTRA cheap and will hold on to every penny. They do sell sick fish... BE WARE! Even if they know that everything that was wrong with your fish is their fault, they will deny it and will make up the ODDEST reasons to blame everything on you. Don’t even dream of a refund. I would NEVER buy anything from this store and would avoid them at all costs for your own good, and for the good of your fish. TERRIBLE! Despicable... nothing more to say. I wish I could give them 0 stars, they really don't even deserve 1 star at all! Ps. Reading the negative reviews here on google and seeing how many likes every negative review gets... really makes you question the honesty of all those 5 star reviews ....

Owners and employees are really nice. Plants in stock are intact and never have holes/deficencies. Tank parametres are given when asked so you know what to expect when you acclimate your plants to your tank. It's clear that they take care of their shrimp and other livestocks well. Pricing is very fair and often times cheaper than other LFS. Decent variety of items and a lot of different options, very responsive and helpful for any questions related to aquarium care. Well worth the trip to visit the store! ????

Have to give them a well deserved 4 stars, shy of 5. Tommy answered all my questions and made a follow up on my order litterally moments before receiving it. Ordered 10 CRS and got them all alive and kicking in less than 24h (toronto-montreal). Minus one star because I received 2 pure dark brown specimen, probably meaning they are keeping CRS/CBS together or that their genetics are not yet stable. Not that it matters much as I was looking for new genetics to add to my colony, and I do keep CRS/CBS together ( I dont usually get brown ones). Call it the perfect irony? But for the reds I received, their colors are sooo vibrant. Even the brown ones have super sharp colors. Will order again.

Really neat lil store. Have a lot of cool shrimp, and some other oddities like mussels, etc. Some of the nicest looking java moss I've seen in a while, far superior to the other stores, for what thats worth. I love this place. I’m on the west coast and we have some good options here sometimes but Shrimp Fever has a very thorough inventory on not only shrimp but also their fish inventory is super cool! The prices are unreal. But honestly the part I like best is they are the only aquatic site that I am familiar with that has a ‘show in stock only’ feature. It’s so simple to look at literally every item they sell. I can’t stand how most of our dealers post hundreds of species that they realistically maybe had in stock once if at all. These guys are legit.

I had a great experience ordering livestock and plants from Shrimp Fever. I paid for the one day shipping to have 10 panda corydora and some mosses shipped, although pricey it did ensure that none of my fish were stressed when they arrived. The water in their bags was a very respectable 72 degrees, so acclimation was quick and easy. Tommy's service was excellent. He answered all of my questions very quickly and accommodated my requests regarding bagging of the fish. Tommy also kept me updated every step of the way and sent me a follow up email once my shipment was received. I was concerned about ordering panda corys as they are such a delicate type of fish, happily all 10 panda corys arrived alive. I have had a far better survival rate with these pandas than any others i have bought online or in person. They are very healthy fish and even though they are still young and quite small, they have absolutely thrived in my community aquarium. The mosses were all lush, green and healthy and continue to do well. Great customer service, amazing communication and healthy live fish and plants. I ordered red rili shrimp but the staff told me they were not the best quality atm and I really appreciate the honesty. I switched my order to carbon rilli shrimp and I am very satisfied with my order. The package was properly packed and all shrimps arrived alive and lively. They also helped me navigate the tedious and costly process of importing live animals into the United States. For sure, if you are in their neck of the woods, give them a try. This is the place to be for shrimp and smaller fish. They have very competitive pricing with sales every month as well. They also have rarer more expensive species that many other places do not carry. Their hardware section is small but contains most of what you need to start a nano tank. There is also an in-store case discount which is always nice alongside some very good service.

I visited this place over the weekend and I was VERY impressed. Not only is the stock amazing (and meticulously maintained), but the two fellows that were working when I visited were super friendly and helpful. I got a FEVER and the only prescription is more Shrimp. High quality fish and shrimp. Prices are a bit high but you really get what you pay for here. So I don't mind spending the extra dough. The new location is looking great with more things to offer. Only real con of the store is the labelling of tanks. Things that are on sale are not labelled as so. And tanks can be miss labelled or no label. Fix this issue Shrimpfever and you'll be a contender for the best shop in the GTA.

Hands down the best place to get rabbit snails! I've recommended them to other rabbit snails lovers in the past and have seen many people recommend them which speaks volumes about their quality and customer service. Tommy is a wealth of knowledge, and I appreciate his transparency because it shows he cares about his customers providing quality care instead of just making a sale. As someone relatively new to the hobby, it's nice to have someone guide you as sometimes the internet can provide very misleading information. They're also very accommodating and have ordered a shipment for me in the past when I missed out on a sale.

I find their aquatic plants very healthy. They all survived the transition to my tank without melting so I’m very pleased. I order plants online and go to other bigger LFS and I receive them all healthy but they would eventually melt on me. Not the ones I purchased from Shrimp Fever. They are thriving in my tank.

This store is amazing! I stubbled onto Cherry shrimps few years ago. It started as a casual hobby and I didn't know what I was doing until I came to shrimp fever and met to Tommy. He provided me so much educational information. The quality of all the products are top notch. Helped me breed shrimp and when I was in trouble with my tank, provided me with the solution. The prices are very good and I trust that they have my best interest at heart. Recently Kit has come on and is also very kind and knowledgeable. This has become my joy to see my pintos breeding. We ordered 6 shrimp online from shrimp fever, and all 6 were dead on arrival. The package arrived on its estimated delivery day and we were at home to receive it. The water was ice cold and so was the "heat pack". While i understand their no refund for DOA shrimp, these shrimp obviously were not packaged in a way that would keep them alive for the expected delivery date. We wouldnt have even minded waiting for the shipment at a later date had the store felt conditions were unfavourable for the shrimp to survive, but we never received such communication from the company. For reference for others who are debating shipping shrimp from this company, our shipment only had to be shipped from Scarborough to our location just outside of London, ON. Also, upon inspection of the shrimp one of them was missing his entire tail, and it was not in the packaging with him. Feels great to pour $30 of shrimp down the toilet.

I ordered some shrimp from this company for a college level student project. It was a disaster. First, the company forgot to ship the shrimp, so the poor students were delayed in starting their project. One week later, they finally get shipped...but not express. This means the poor shrimp were living in their delivery bags for 48hr. Because of the shipping delay and the shrimp living without adequate water quality and feed for 48hr, 3 shrimp were dead upon delivery and 25 shrimp died over the next 72hr. The shrimp were also juveniles, and we had asked for adults. Naturally the company only offered to refund the 3 shrimp that were dead upon delivery, but not the other 25 that died a few days after delivery (as per their policy, but let's be honest, the shrimp were clearly not healthy after the shipping conditions they suffered). Animal welfare concerns aside, the company did not handle our order or our complaints professionally. They will not be contracted again.

Shrimp Fever is by far my favourite aquarium store. They specialize in ornamental shrimp as implied by the name of the shop, but they also carry a plethora of rare micro fish and aquatic plants. The icing on the cake is that the staff is super friendly, patient and willing to share their knowledge.

The price is very expensive now. You can get sss crystals for only $2 from other per store nowadays. Even when put onsale they costs more than others. Also easily find them on kijiji private breeders as well for much cheaper.

One of the best aquarium shops in the GTA. Great selection of smaller fish species, inverts, and plants. Also they get rare species sometimes and you can order them if they aren't in stock. I took some time before writing a review for this company. In terms of communication they are very promptly. I had a bad experience with Shrimp Fever and UPS mixed all together. I ordered some fish and shrimp and because of bad weather conditions mixed with some late update of UPS site follow updates my fish and shrimp arrived all dead. I wrote back to Shrimp fever crew and initially they refused any type of accommodation. After they did offer some compromise that I couldn’t accept. Pros: they will promptly answer you, cons : they do not respect their word. To make long story short they promised me an investigation with UPS. After several calls at UPS I sadly found out that no investigation was ever opened( I have emails in support). Also Shrimp Fever menaced me with legal action if ever write a bad review. I friendly reminded them the freedom of speech is constitutionally guaranteed. I am sure they work hard to build up a name and my review is not intended to destroy it. I am sure they have great quality products and they are doing their best to fulfill their clientele expectations. However if I could suggest one thing : ask them to offer you pick up in your local UPS store. That makes things so easy and creates a win-win situation on both sides : vendor and buyer. Edit: I red their reply. The only element missing in this whole story is the 3rd delivery party of which existence I wasn’t aware when I initially placed my order. About 3rd delivery party activity and main role I was only informed when problems occurred. Moreover I strongly believe that as a client I was supposed to be informed about all risks related to a 2nd hand delivery handling risks when I placed my order for livestock. (Anyone should be right away informed about it from the get-go). That never happened, unfortunately. Right after placing my order and choosing 2 -3 days shipping option I received an email from Tommy advising me that the fish would not do that well on that long shipping period and so I was asked / suggested to pay around another 20 and something CAD on top of what I have already paid for in order to ensure my DOA guarantees for 1 day shipping. He convinced me, and I paid for it. No questions asked. Looking back, I am now wondering on what exactly have I spent my savings??? Livestock and shipping fee all in all around 100 CAD. Except for a snail ( 3 CAD ) all my order arrived dead. Now I understand why ... it got lost between 2 layers of shipping and a lack of pertinent information.

We where just in the store 5 min ago and Tommy informed us of this person leaving multiple fake reviews so we are here to give a REAL AND TRUE review. We stopped by to grab one of the sun blaster lights today for our aquarium and a few more shrimp. Service was amazing as usual. We where not asked to leave a review by the owner we are leaving a review because we want to share our experience and let the world know this is a great store and to ignore any bad reviews as they are fraudulent. Even one time we had a issue a long long time ago when we where newbies and The staff fixed it in seconds to be honest it was probably our fault anyways left our shrimp in the car to long “12 hours” and a couple of them didn’t survive and he still replaced them for us at no cost as we are regular customers and they value there customers clearly otherwise they wouldn’t have helped us....
