Great place great variety clean and nice people to help you out
10/10 for supporting the NS Native fisheries rights :)
After an issue with my order the team at Hooked acted fast to fix the situation (and on Christmas day nonetheless)! Hooked went above and beyond to deliver fabulous seafood. Highly recommend.
The butcher was super friendly and patient with my inquiries about all the different cuts and how I can prepare them.
A very cool fish shop - not what I was expecting - it used to be an art gallery many years ago - Richard Trus review
Great selection, friendly and knowledgeable. Will also do shucked oysters of you call ahead. Great tuna. I don't buy fish anywhere else.
Excellent fish with helpful cooking advice
Knowledgeable people behind the counter. Outstanding products under the counter.
Love this place. Their double smoked salmon is so good. Everything else is too! The staff is really knowledgeable, and very friendly. They're always willing to answer questions or give prep advice.
Slow fishing at its finest.
Fantastic fishmonger that has excellent quality seafood and really cares about their customers.
When it comes to seafood , freshness matters. Seafood freshness drives flavor and texture of the product. Hooked is largely failing at this . Hooked is unfortunately selling products that are days old. You can actually smell this from the curb. It does remind some places in Kensington. It is that bad. On top of this their staff is not knowledgeable about their products ( try to get them on the most basic question anyone must ask when buying fish: "when was it caught" and monitor their expression) and their products are over expensive which they justify by being local and sustainable. Being sustainable and conscientiously raised is great but if it is not healthy neither tasty and a way to sell a bad product at an unjustified price , then it is a mockery. I am a resident but will unfortunatley still drive to Diana's or T&T where they have quality products at half the price.
Have always liked this fishmongers but hadn't tried their prepared soup before: I took the seafood chowder - lovely stuff. Will revisit soon to try another.
I live in Lesliville and was drawn to hooked because I want to support sustainable fishing practices. However, like another reviewer, I will be driving to Diana's or T&T in the future rather than returning to Hooked. The customer service and the staff's lack of knowledge about the products were questionable at best. Additionally, while I am willing to pay higher prices to support sustainable marine practices, Hooked seems to prey upon those striving to be socially responsible - this is a disservice to the actual cause, as it reinforces the myth that sustainable eating is attainable only to those who can pay exorbitant amounts.
Excellent selection...amazing help!
As a huge supporter of sustainable seafood procurement Hooked Inc. is my go to seafood shop in the city. They also offer cooking classes, have a variety of prepared products and some limited fruits and vegetables to create your seafood dishes.
Outstanding shellfish cooking class. The folks at hooked are wonderful, knowledgeable and passionate at the their craft. The quality of the fish was apparent with the flavour and texture of the final dishes. Just suburb! Thanks Hooked. So, question do Hooked patrons call themselves Hookers? ????
they were very helpful, giving me the right advice for a seafood meal set up etc, professional and nice store. Great seafood!
Wonderful fresh fish, sustainably sourced, combined with attentive and informed service. What more could you ask for?
Wonderful, friendly service. Great fish and other specialty items. Yielded to temptation today and bought black truffle potato chips along with sea bass. Very happy.
Great fresh fish! We picked up (for the first time) Lake Erie white perch fillets as well as a two pack of frozen crab cakes $12/2. Both selections were excellent and, let's face it, you get what you pay for. Friendly service and chill shopping experience. Back soon.
This place is one of my favourites in the whole neighbourhood. Aside from a very charming, warm design and atmosphere, and great product selection, their seafood is very fresh and high-quality. I would come here for all my seafood shopping, hands down. I had no reservations or concerns about the freshness, quality, or safety of the product. We purchased a crab dip with a loaf of fresh focaccia bread that was one of the most delicious lunches I've ever had - we devoured the bread with the dip, and vowed to get double the portions the next time we popped in! I can't sufficiently describe or recommend the focaccia and crab enough. If you feel like treating yourself to something fresh, mouth-watering, and relatively healthy stop by here and pick up a small combination of things like we did. I can't wait to go back and get more focaccia and try several new options of their seafood selection!
I come here for quite a few things and it never disappoints. One of my favorites is the packaged smoked salmon they make, it’s just too delicious. The staff is also very helpful, and great with recommendations.
popped in for oysters and caviar to ring in Christmas - always love my time with the Hooked staff. Knowledgeable, friendly and in my opinion, go above and beyond. I’ve never felt over sold/upsold anything - I’m always reminded of pairings or sauces that would compliment my meal and new ways to prepare through their inspiration. Thanks Hooked for being a Leslieville staple, we’re lucky to have you.
This cozy seafood market on the East side will supply all cooks with ingredients on their voyage with seafood dishes. The staff are helpful and know exactly how to elevate your dish. Me and my fiance loved picking a seafood dish, swinging by Hooked and grabbing the ingredients we needed which were always fresh and properly prepared. Our meals always came out delicious!
I try to shop at Hooked at least once every other week... if not once a week. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and is always willing to lend a hand. I made Paella for the first time earlier this year and they helped my find everything I need. The black tiger shrimp and Ahi tuna steaks are a staple at our house.. but their Chorizo, Mussels, squid, octopus, seafood and lobster stock, frozen tuna cubes for poke bowls are all incredible. They also source all of their items responsibly and can tell you where everything came from. I highly recommend Hooked, it is one of my favourite parts about living in Leslieville ????????
Amazing product and excellent service and their prices are spot on
Took a shellfish cooking class here with a friend. It was absolutely incredible. Delicious food, handy tips and approachable atmosphere. Kristin is a fantastic teacher and has a wealth of knowledge about sourcing sustainable options.
I bought some mussels from Loblaws and half were dead. They'd had been shipped 10 days prior to my purchase! The next time I wanted mussels, I went to Hooked and found they had a 1 day turnaround. On top of being super fresh, Hooked can tell me where, when, and who caught the fish. They always ensure I buy the right amount for my meals (eg: not too much). And they always give great advice on how to store and cook the fish. The results are delicious fish and seafood- I definitely recommend trying them out!
I just adore this store and the quality is amazing. The scallops and artic char Its so very good better then st Lawrence market. My favorite out everything is the hot crab dip. The staff are wonderful as well. My self from Newfoundland fish there is fresh as can be. Hooked is capatible to my newfoundland. Great job every one!!!!!!
Really enjoyed the ahi tuna from Hooked Inc. it was fresh and tasty! And the service was great too.
Great fish
Great customer and delivery service. Quality and variety is great
I ordered my first ever Hello Fresh box and cooked my salmon dish - with salmon provided by Hookrd Inc. - as it said to eat it first. I ate my first serving yesterday, however when I was eating my second serving, I found a worm in my salmon, once it was cooked and I was about to eat the part where the worm was, as the piece was on the fork. I am absolutely disgusted with this situation. It ruined my meal and I was not able to finish the rest of my meal, and since I was at work, I had to go buy a snack to fill me up, completely missing the point of your service. I am highly disappointed with this service and I do not feel I trust your brand. This was my first experience with your service and I don't know how you are allowed to charge $100 per box for this quality. I have pictures to show this situation. Please let me know how you are going to remedy this for future boxes, as I do not believe the quality of your seafood is up to par and I will be telling people about my experience.
Great selection of high quality seafood and the staff is helpful as well.
Expensive yes... but good quality, ethical... it's the Patagonia of fish stores. Some people aren't going to like that but it's also sort've hard to argue against it.
Lucky to have the best Fishmonger in Toronto in my hood. These guys can tell you the name of the fisherman that line caught that Tuna. Sustainable and responsible caught fish only.
Great quality but prices to match that quality. They have some good prepared goods like a lobster bisque, though not always consistent in the amount of seafood goodies or richness of the soup.
Great service great product
Super knowledgeable and nice staff. Fish was delicious and the education I got there on sustainability was appreciated. I highly recommend if you're looking for a nice piece of fish!. Price point might scare people off but it's worth it to buy local and support local producers.
There seafood is not fresh it really has a bad smell
Got some great white perch fillets, very fresh and lower in price than expected! Staff was very friendly and helpful as well. I will be back soon.
