Great local fish and chips eatery. Made fresh to order. We were in the mood for some cheap, authentic fish and chips and did a side by side comparison with Sammy's and nearby Bronte Fish & Chips. It was close, but Sammy's tasted just a bit better than Bronte's Fish & Chips. Also, Sammy's fries were really good. Although, Bronte does offer a few other menu options. Easier to pay with cash here, and its about $13 for a fish and chips and it comes with some plastic cutlery, napkins, ketchup and tartar sauce pack. Fries can be dusted with salt and vinegar. The owner seemed super friendly here as well.

Love coming here for fish and chips. Love the fish, the fries and the gravy. Sammy does an amazing job with all the food.

The Vile

Rip off! I'm pretty sure that what they sell as "halibut" is probably pollack. Halibut can grow over 2.5 metres long and weigh over 300 kg. I got served a fillet from a fish that was probably less than 30 cm long while there is a MINIMUM catch size of 81cm for a fisherman. They have minimum size restrictions so we don't eat babies that have not had a chance to reproduce so our children and grandchildren can enjoy fish in the future. I also got charged $2 for about a shot glass size worth of powdered gravy. No utensils were given or offered. There are plenty of good fish and chip options literally within a 5 minute walk from here so I recommend going elsewhere. The mystery fish also was not seasoned and you get about a McD's small size of fries. If you want to eat mystery fish or if it is indeed halibut (yeah right) then you are eating babies and destroying the environment eating unsustainable or even illegal fish.

Let me tell you a little bit about Sammys fish and chips. This place changed my life. One bite from their delectable fried sea creatures, just one crunch into their fish, and your destiny as a living human being will be fulfilled. As I sunk my longing teeth into the familiarly crusty yet moist fried halibut, my life flashed before my eyes and I realized that I would never eat another fish or chip again. Sammys is the only place to get not only fish and chips, but food altogether. Thank you sammys, for changing my life. Sammys; my life, my love, my purpose.

Top notch fish and chips. Tasty, crispy fish with some nice fries, simple but satisfying. Had to wait a bit for our order as he was very busy however it was a nice day to sit outside and wait. The fish was not greasy and was super fresh.

CASH ONLY!! Small joint by the road and decent fish and chips $14. Chips are fresh cut fried and delicious with skin on. We had halibut for fish and was good(would love more seasoning on the batter). Overall decent.

Fresh fish, light and crispy batter. All cooked in clean oil. Their chicken fingers are cooked to perfection. The chicken is juicy. The batter is crispy and seasoned so that you can eat all by itself. However, he provides this sauce that I really really like and I can't help dipping into it. My daughter does like hot dogs. But she eats Sammy's hot dogs. We go there once a week. We sit on the picnic tables in front of his stand. Great way to have a meal along Lakeshore Road in Bronte village!

Went there with my family for quick bite. Ordered 2 orders of fish and chips, 13 bucks each plus tax... and one order of poutine... Most expensive poutine i even seen, 12 bucks plus tax. Nothing to be excited about. Heavily buttered one piece of fish per order.... and fries. Maybe i am unrealistic, but to me, extremely expensive for what you get, and nothong spexial taste wise... fish and chips. lol

I love Sammy himself, he's such a nice guy! Sammy's chips are a perfect base for his delicious poutine, the fish and chips is even better than Bronte fish and chips, and thats saying a lot! Its simple chip wagon food, but its made with care and you can taste that with every bite!

I went there twice , first time for fish and chips , the food was okay but he didnt give me ketchup and tissues for take out. Second time was a terrible experience, i ordered a hotdog with cheese . The bun and cheese is cold , i saw him take the cheese out of the refrigerator and spread my hotdog directly. The most disgusting part is that the hotdog was undercooked ,cold in the center , it was like chewing a rubber. Worst hotdog experience ever!

Extremely over priced. A small fry, small poutine and two pops came to 34$...which I find outlandish. The fries were decent, but nothing extraordinary. The poutine gravy was sub par, and they are missing the majority of the items that were previously on their menu. Will not return
