If I could have given a zero star review, I would have. The fish was overcooked and rubbery. The outsides (but still hidden somewhere in the 10lbs of mediocre batter) were hard and chewy. The fries were meh, the coleslaw was flavourless and, just like the fish, the onion rings were so over battered that we ate two and left the rest. The photos I uploaded are of what I left on my plate before paying my bill and going next door to Osmows to eat. Seriously, we did that! This was hands down the worst fish and chips I have ever had.

They served Walmart garlic bread. And charged $4.99 for 3 slices. And very bland battered calamari for 8 peices for 10.99. The wait staff was kind. But the food items were unfortunate. First time coming here. Will not return

Fish and chips were great. Halibut was a good sized portion. Onion rings were yummy as well. Service was good and friendly. Was not a cheap meal, nor was it expensive, but for good fish you'll pay a little more and this place is worth it.

Clean, attractive restaurant with okay food. I ordered the clams, and my companions ordered Halibut and chips. The food was good but a little greasy. Fair value. We didn't find out about the Sunday/Monday special until after we ordered (Haddock & Chips $8). We ended up spending about $80 for three dinners with the tip. I won't go on out of my way to return, but would recommend it to friends.

Natalie suggested the grilled salmon and I had it with greek salad. The salmon was cooked perfectly; moist, tender and flavourful. The salad was fresh, crisp and tasty.

got the super lunch special to go, not only was the food over priced $14 for 1 piece of fish, and a couple shrimp, it was so greasy, that grease started dripping through the paper bag, the portion was not worth the price, i was also suprised it do not include any coleslaw and the tartar sauce is in ketchup packages so it did not taste appetizing, besides the fish being saggy and greasy it had little flavor, will most likley not be returning, many better spots in oakville

Was not expecting the food to be that good!! A total surprise :) the halibut was delightful! The fish was fresh and the batter was just right, not too greasy and the perfect amount of seasoning. The price was quite reasonable as well considering the quality. The staff made the whole experience just perfect. They were kind, courteous and very helpful. Keep up the great standard of fresh food and service! Look forward to doing it again ????

I tried take-out... I thought it was a bit expensive but thought quality would justify the price. I was wrong. Neither fish not chips were crispy and the bag had a funny rancid oil smell. I seriously doubt I'll go there again.

I went in with high hopes after seeing the reviews, but was disappointed. Relative to my 5-star F&C shop (Thistle, Burlington) the HH has "ok" halibut, the shrimp were fairly good (though a little heavy on batter), the scallops were "ok", and amazingly the fries were quite disappointing (making good fries is relatively simple). Prices were as expected for halibut, the service was fine, and the environment was nice enough. Interestingly, the menu is broader than most F&C joints .... But why serve burgers?! Sadly, I won't be back anytime soon, and when I get a F&C craving I'll drive the extra 30 minutes to my 5-star establishment.

Maybe a little too buttery but quantity and quality / price is awesome, I suggest to order one appetizer and one main for 2. Battered shrimps the best! Wish only that the cocktail sauce has less ketchup in it.

We've been here a hand full of times and it never ceases to amaze me. The food is fresh, the service is crazy quick, and it's always hot, good food. I love the halibut, I love the fries, I love the gravy. 10/10 recommending to a friend or a stranger! If you like halibut, you'll like this. Batter is always light and crispy. Great portions at great prices and there is different special every day.

Wonderful place with amazing food! The prices were decent and the portions we're more then generous. The quality of the food was excellent too, fish lovers will love it here. The batter was light and crispy, no filler and very little salt. The layout was a bit crowded, but they accommodated wheel chairs easily. The washrooms too we're clean and accessable. 10/10 would come back with my family. Monday and Tuesday's they have specials, and everyday until 3pm is their lunch special. Worth it to check it out!!

Decided to pick up dinner today on Good Friday around 6:00pm & they are OPEN! I tried to call in to place an order ahead of time but the line was busy. They have a limited 'Good Friday Menu' to order from and the rest of their menu is unavailable today. Upon arriving there was already quite a bit of people standing outside waiting for their order (~30 people) which is expected on Good Friday. You still go inside the front entrance and line up to place your order. The lady taking the order was friendly & efficient and even with 7 people in front of us, it took less than 10 minutes to get to the front to place our order. The rest of the staff were quite busy getting orders filled. After placing your order, you're then given a number and asked to wait outside. The wait for our food after placing our order took about 40-45 minutes. Thankfully it wasn't too cold out. The great thing is that our food was nice and hot, however the batter on the fish was a bit on the soggy side and more greasy than usual. Will we be coming back here?...YES because the food is generally good! But next Good Friday we'll probably plan to arrive earlier in the evening to avoid a longer wait time. Patience is a virtue these days so make sure to bring some if you plan to come on this busy, busy day.

Great spot with amazing food. Had a poutine, seafood platter and pork souvlaki. Portions were generous, batter was light and crisp and staff were friendly and helpful. This will definitely become a regular go to restaurant.

I have not been disappointed in the two times we visited. both times both of us ordered haddock and chips and both times it was served the same way, hot and good. I'll try to remember to take a picture next time. this restaurant has awesome specials, so if you're into Seafood this maybe your place.

Pretty darn good fish and chips. I don't know if there was an error but I was charged over $50 for 2 plates of halibut. If that is the case it was expensive. If it was an mistake then the quality was great.

Love fish and chips so I wanted to try this place. Very clean, service was a bit slow, it took almost 30 minutes for them to bring the food and they weren't even busy... Forgivable, but while I don't like being critical because the restaurant business is hard, it's important that restaurant owners take note because bad quality will always take a business down. So what was wrong? Portions were good, flavour was good, halibut was good, but the oil was old and the fish and chips were super greasy. These guys have one job... to fry fish and chips, so the temperature of the oil and time spent in the frier must be accurate, and the oil MUST be fresh. I could taste the old oil, and frankly, greasy fish and chips are not cool when that's your business. Please change your oil on a regular basis and monitor your oil temperature and time cooking. I will give this place another chance and hope to report back that it was an isolated incident. Update: while I hate being critical because the restaurant business is tough, this place STILL doesn't get it. Tried again a year later and STILL greasy!!

We wanted to try Halibut but were left disappointed. Not my ideal fish and chips by any stretch, the halibut was cold and for 1 serving the quantity was not sufficient. Packing fish with fries is a no no for me! Fries were soggy and smelled of fish. I guess just a hyped up place!

Wow! Has to be the best fish and chips I have had in a very long time! Wonderfully crispy batter, not oil drenched, thick fries and the coleslaw was even great!! Batter was a little thick but everything tastes great! Super fast as well. I am coming back for sure!

A genuine fish and chips restaurant at affordable prices. High quality food, great service, comfortable atmosphere. Their $10 lunch special includes a hearty serving of halibut, and thick, fresh cut fries in the best tradition of a British chippy. For an extra $3, upgrade to the "super lunch", with a couple of battered prawns and "seafood nuggets". The place is clean and quiet. On each table, bottles of both regular and malt vinegar, but also ketchup and packets of tartar sauce. The kitchen is fast, without sacrificing quality. And while I wouldn't call the place "upscale", they serve beer (including bottled Guinness!) and wine.

We visited Halibut house Oakville and we were happy we did! The waitress was ultra friendly (older Asian lady) and was genuinely concerned that everything was okay with our meal. The fish was very clean tasting and crisp, not greasy, good portion size and cooked perfectly. We also had the souvlaki dinner and we were very pleased with that too! The ambiance was nice too, no smells coming from the kitchen and they had a TV on with my favourite show, Three's Company...lol. We were pleased with the seating area, it was private and comfortable! This was our first visit and not my last!

I was asked to pay $38 for two fish on a bun with fries and a coleslaw. Worst food value ever for takeout. The fish was tasteless and dry - the fries weren't edible. Threw out most of it. Won't be back.

have to say, this wasn't worth the price at all. One piece halibut and a really basic Greek salad was $17.95. Not even a lemon wedge on the plate. The batter was good, but doubt the fish was halibut - way too thin. Probably cod. Greek salad was even tossed. Grated feta on top almost negligible. Dressing of some sort on the side was good, but never tasted a Greek dressing like it. Server was not friendly. Won't be back.

Like the halibut but not the coleslaw chips were ok To whom it may concern i have now been to this location 3 or 4 more times now and i must say there is nothing wrong with your coleslaw it is just that i am used to creamy coleslaw with my halibut and chips this one is seved with a vinaigrette style which i got use to . I am re updating my review to a 5 stars because of not only the food which is excellent but for the customer service which as always been 5 plus . Since day one ,Keep up the good work !!! My partner and I ordered the halibut with chips, caesar salad and fish chowder. The fish chowder was horrendous; served lukewarm and had absolutely no taste. I've had better out of a can. The halibut was very good, just wish the cut was thicker. Chips were standard. Service was rushed, we ordered and food was served within 10 minutes. Felt like they were in a hurry to get us out of there because it was close to closing. Overpriced for fish and chips.

I asked what the fish is fried in and was told 'animal' oil. When I asked what does that mean the waitress/cashier said 'cow' while the cook shouted 'beef-pork'. I left. I find it really gross to fry fish in beef fat or lard. If you're a Pescatarian don't be fooled by the thought you'll be having fish. Lard maybe cheaper, but a lawsuit over food contamination is hefty.

Brutal wait on good Friday. Stand in line for 20 minutes. Then told if you don't have a ticket you move to the back to receive said ticket. No one at the door to instruct or hand out ticket. Should they not be prepared for this rush. 4pm good Friday. Horrible customer service.

Came for lunch on Wednesday August 19/20. Was told they are only doing takeout? Place was empty even though other restaurants in the plaza were busy. No wonder, no patio, no dine in. Drove all the way to 2814 Lakeahore Rd location in Etobicoke.They seated us and served the best fish n chips I've had. Now my go to location.

I’m not one for reviews but, top notch restaurants need it right now. Such a great experience even though ordered through Uber eats! I made a few extra requests (extra sauce and separate box for fish so it stays crispy) and did they deliver!!! Definitely extra sauce and everything came so perfectly packaged! Also, portion size of everything was great and tasted so amazing! They definitely took extra care with entire order. Best fish and chip in the area.. not the first time ordered and definitely not the last. Restaurants so need support during these times and places like this make it worth it! Thanks everyone!!!

I ate at the Halibut House in Oakville today. My parents owned fish and chip stores when i was a kid growing up. I have eaten fish and chips at many Restaurants. My dad and i have traveled across Brampton and Mississauga looking for good fish and chips. I find the portion size and food quality to be excellent, the establishment is very clean and inviting. the staff were very pleasant, friendly and came by the table to make sure everything was ok. I will definitely travel back to Halibut House again. I hope you find this review to be helpful.

Had a horrible experience at this establishment. I came into the store to buy the fish and chip special that is available on Sundays and Mondays. The manager would not honour the promotional pricing. After some convincing, she said that they are just going to change the price. After giving her money, she slammed the money on the table; which was incredibly rude. Horrible costume service and I will never come back

I LOVE fish and chips and love the halibut house in Etobicoke. I was very disappointed in this location. Not sure if it was because we got take out so it spoiled in the container....but i couldn't finish my meal. The fries tasted so stale like they were a week old and re fried and the batter was awful. It was not the crispy batter im used to. Will not be returning.

The food is excellent. Fish was fried to perfection, very crisp. The tartare sauce is one of those package ones. It is just not good enough. I wish they would provide better tartare sauce. For this reason, I give them 3 stars.

Having moved to Canada from England 3 years ago, my wife and I know what to look for in fish and chips and the haddock we had at Halibut House was the closest thing to a perfect piece of fish that we have had whilst having been here! Mushy peas were also excellent and tasted like home. We came with our 2 yr old and both of us had the haddock special for $8...excellent value for such quality food. Chips were also very good but not quite the same as in England (although I'm sure that's down to types of potatoes). Ladies serving us were warm, friendly and accommodating and the place was absolutely spotless. Will definitely be back again soon and so glad this is our local chippy!

Good value for your money. Fish and chips are like what you get in England. Haddock is on discount on Sundays and Mondays. There is no outlet in Mississauga. This is in Oakville. Dundas /Trafalgar Road. Next to Walmart. A very good place to enjoy good food.

Tarter sauce (homemade was terrible) tastes like Mayo, ask for a take out package of sauce, not much better. Service was fast & friendly, location was empty with a few take out orders. Enjoyed the Fish here very much, less so the chips. Unfortunately they don't have a gluten free version so need to go elsewhere now. Staff is friendly and they have a great family takeout special.

Unfortunately I don't understand the good ratings. My wife and I just had take out, grilled halibut and Greek salad each. When we got it home we found 1 small, over cooked and rubbery piece of fish each and a small Ceasar salad, about $5 worth of food each for $40 total. Very disappointing, won't go there again. Too bad Caz's closed.

I find that fish other than halibut isn't as crispy. Food is very consistent and reasonably priced. Keep it up!

Excellent! Will be my fish n' chips "go-to". Nice bright, modern atmosphere. Friendly and attentive wait staff. Delicious, hot haddock & chips. Batter was exactly the way I like it - crispy and tasty. Chips are fresh cut potatoes, not frozen. Generous portions and condiments (tartar included). Reasonably priced. Would have rated a 5 except I noticed there were quite a few flies of some sort (like small fruit flies) on my way to the washroom, which is close to the kitchen. Hopefully they can gain better control of that.

The pieces of fish were very thin and greasy and it looked like I got the left over fries. Some were burnt others seemed improperly cooked and dry. The fries were terrible. The price The $30 price was ridiculous

Got a take away , food was good, but extremely over priced. A slim piece of grilled fish with 2 sides was over 25 $ !

This is one of my favorite go to places for fish and chips. I find this is good value for the price and the quality is very good.

I wasn't happy with this place. Batter was falling off. They packed my order without any care. It was so greasy we had to unpack the order in my garage because the oil was dripping out of the containers. It's like the placed the fish in the containers straight from the fryer without placing it on a drip tray first. Everyone deserves a second chance, but I spent over 130 bucks and I don't think I can do that again here. 2 stars for the friendly people at the front. None of the chefs I saw in the back were wearing masks.

Order grilled salmon ceasar salad and fries tonight. Grilled salmon was under seasoned and over cooked. Salad arrived with dressing already on it (we ordered from skip the dishes). Fries were decent but they had no salt and some tasted like they were older fries mixed with new ones.

Overpriced with the only thing being free at this place is cholestoral. For these reasons I'm out and won't be back. Food and service is so so and just does not woo enough for the asking prices. I don't cook and I eat out all the time so I know all the spots and know the difference between price and value. There is just no value at this place.

Hours are only suggestions. Show up at least 10min prior to closing time as cook leaves at least 5 min before closing.
