Love this place! Been there a few times, always great food and great service! Fish and chips are always delicious. Love the coffee and the raisin bread pudding for dessert is a reason in it's own to go there!

Amazing!!! Everything was made fresh and we didn't wait longer than 10 min for our order. (Family of 4) portions are huge. Quality family business. I've been in the restaurant business for 30 years. These guys are doing it right.

Reviewing based on 4 visits and I love it! Prepandemic and during... excellent fish, chips and coleslaw. Huge big piece of tasty moist flavorful fish, home made chips and a really great slaw (totally can tell it's homemade). Best part about this place is PAM. Best person ever. She is so sweet, so customer friendly, remembers her customers by name... just a good soul! I highly recommend this place ! Enjoy

We used to go there years ago and it was delicious but we just went there tonight and it was terrible! Had to wait 45 minutes for two orders of fish and chips, fries had been fried a couple times but still not hot! Yuk! Waitress wasn't helpful,happy or interested in being there! You can tell that it's under new management that doesn't know how to be professional with the public or how to cook! Dont waste your time, it's not like it was before!!!

Fish and fries were burnt. The oil they used was old, and the owner insulted his teenage staff in front of them. Although it was clear they were running the place the best they could. I will not be going back.

Pretty good fish and chips restaurant! I ordered the Cod with a drink and a small side of coleslaw and it came to be about 20$ before tip. The fish was well battered, crispy on the outside but still flaky and soft on the inside. The fries were good, but nothing crazy amazing worth mentioning. They use a creamy coleslaw and with the pickled cucumber on the side is just enough to cut through the deep fries goodness.

I attended yesterday, around 3. Relatively quiet Sunday afternoon, the service was great. The fish was fresh and juicy, although slightly on the smaller side for $13.99. About 4'' x 4'', my girlfriends was a tiny bit smaller. I was expecting a bit more, but it was very, very tasty and ended up being the perfect portion, but less fries/more fish never hurt. The coffee, fries, sweet potato fries and tartar sauce were all great and the water was nice and cold.

Used to love coming here and ordering take out for my whole family. Had some gift cards from a couple years ago and was disappointed at the new owners response in refusing to honour them. The new owner claimed the old owner "never told him" he had gift cards. A ridiculous claim in my opinion...and also not my problem as the customer.

This was delicious. I'm definately coming back. A picture sometime does say more then a thousand words. It's a cozy place that serves great food and takes after the Maritimes; St. Anthony's NFL comes to mind. The haddock was just perfect and took me back to fish and chips I had at the Sydney AU beaches. I also love the fact that they serve sweet potato chips. I finished with their home made bread pudding and I'm glad I did as it was really, really good! Looking forward to the next time!

Staff was nice, this is a Canadian version of what they think fish and chips should be tho! it's not freshly made, it's frozen! got home food was dry, chips had been double fried and very small thought I was buying enough for two seeing I bought large, opened the boxes up and they weren't even a quarter full. Disappointed to say the least!

Completely disorganized, made me wait 20 mins just to tell me they lost my order. The lady at pick-ups should be attending the 5 customers waiting to place orders, not talking for ten minutes on the phone to a customer. If she is going to proceed with doing that, at least have the decency to have someone else attend to waiting customers. No wonder I heard multiple complaints of undercooked fish, they're so disorganized that they don't keep track of how long they've been cooking. Gordan Ramsey would give this place a negative rating.

The restaurant was empty, tables not cleared from dirty dishes and uneaten food, cutlery on "clean" tables was dirty with food crusted on it. We waited for about 10 minutes before my sister went to ask for service. Once we ordered, our food did not arrive so I went to the kitchen to find out if there was a problem and found our meals just sitting on the counter....getting cold!!!!! At this point with having no service and then not recieving our meal we decided to leave. This restaurant needs to be inspected asap!!!!! The only reason I gave it a 1 was that many years ago it truly was the best fish and chip house in east Oakville. We will never go back and warn anyone who would want to go..... not to!!!!!!!

Got takeout: sweet potatoes and clam chowder- extremely disappointed with the tiny portions. Sweet potatoes were raw due to being cut too thick,clam chowder should have been listed as "potatoe soup". I recall portions being much bigger when you guys were on Dundas.

I come here at least once a week. The fish are large portions and I love their rice pilaff. I also like their lobster bisque soup (although sometimes it’s a bit salty). I also love the service, the waitress is so nice and the owner also makes it a point to give me the largest pieces of fish. It’s also a nice quiet place to have lunch during a busy day at work.

Easy homestyle food, that tastes ok. The 3 stars are because the menu does NOT say they untraditionally put bacon in the mushy peas. The server also didn't tell us about the pork in a traditionally vegetarian side dish and we didn't eat more than 2 disappointing bites, sent it back and were charged 4.99 for it. We don't eat pork & many other people don't either. Please be more sensitive to this. Thanks, the fish & chips are good.

Had a craving for fish and chips and wanted to dine in. Happened to come across this little gem of a place. I dined mid day with my cousins and were treated to a very good meal. Upon entering the decor was very traditional for a fish and Chip shop, but you can tell they cared about keeping up with the seasonal theme as Christmas decorations where present. We all ordered the Halibut which were told was their specialty. We also ordered the bartered mushrooms. I found it strange that the coleslaw was extra and didn't come with the meal. Food was very good. The mushrooms were tasty. We debated at the table if they were frozen or fresh. Couldn't tell. The coleslaw was very good and easily recognized as homemade. The fries were also very good, but unfortunately likely not fresh cut which is a rare treat these days. The halibut was very good. A nice thick cut, good size. It was not overly battered and perfectly cooked. I would have given 5 stars but the server kept forgetting minor details about our order which wasnt a huge deal, but a little bothersome for both us and her I'm sure. It was nice that the manger/chef and perhaps owner can out to ask how our meal was and let us know he was appreciative of our support during this time of CIVID restrictions. Overall our experience was good. The price is market and the food was very good. The atmosphere was nice and the restaurant was clean. Parking is ample and accessibility is easy. I will be returning if I'm ever in the area again.

Food is mediocre. Nothing special. Got haddock and chips. The chips were mostly the ends. You get one small piece of fish. If you're starving the meal will barely fill you. The people who came in after us got their food first? Not a big deal but not too impressed. Originally got coleslaw but it was too dry and tasteless. They were good about switching that out though. The server was really nice. The service was quick. 11.99 is way too much to pay when you get such a small portion. I could have gone to hutches and got a large fish meal with drinks and more for the price I paid there. Rice was plain and boring. Would not go back.

Pros: Bought Cod (battered)... it was good ONLY with the tartar sauce. Fish was still warm when delivered. Cons: Saggy & burnt fries Caesar salad was below expectations Half empty boxes Onion rings???????? Food was so BLAND. Sorry, i would not recommend.

Our meals were really over cooked. Really disappointed with this experience. Our family will NOT be eating meals at English Bay Fish and Chips again. The small piece of Halibut was tough and dry. Really disappointed with this meal. Over the years, while English Bay Fish & Chips hasn’t been high on my list for a good meal, our lunch was awful. The batter was flat and crunchy. The hamburger sized Salmon and Halibut fish cakes were tough and dry from overcooking. The battered mushrooms and onion rings were encased in a hard shell of dark brown batter and obviously overcooked. The sweet potato fries were OK. The server was not helpful by suggesting that this is how it’s been done for years. While the meal was being prepared I heard a timer sounding out every so often but wonder if that’s really the best way to fry fish. Not good value for your dollars.

Probably the worst Halibut and chips I’ve ever had in a decade. Overcooked, greasy and simply unpalatable meal at a premium price. Not sure if it’s new owners or just a bad night but I’m still queasy from that food 24 hrs later. Not recommended

This was the first time ordering from this restaurant. Ordered 2 Halibut and 1 chips. The fish was 3-4 ounces in size (relatively small portion), heavily baked crunchy oily batter, and the French fries were very undercooked and tastless. Found this order expensive considering their competitors use 7 ounce portions and throughly cooked French fries for the same price.

I know at times things changes, at the time I went this restaurant to eat, I had a pleasant time. Staff was friendly and the food was good. I have no issues, the facility was clean, the washrooms were also clean. Very nice friendly environment to take a friend or family to go have fish and chips.
