Two "Chief's Plates" are pretty filling for the whole family. Lots of fries, okay-sized Halibut pieces, coleslaw and some Tartar Sauce with a Indian curry note. I really like how the batter as more dried out and wasn't dripping oil from the fry. Good stuff if in the Estevan 'hood.

We meant to try this place sooner.... My wife and I tried the fish & chips. They specifically asked if we wanted cutlery and condiments. We were close to a park where we were going to eat the snacks. They forgot the cutlery and napkins... which we only discovered after driving for 10 minutes to find somewhere to park and eat. I was furious(yeah, I know, first world problem...but still....) knowing that the fried foods would rapidly deteriorate from that point as it gets cold and turns gelatinous. I was mad because I knew we were a 20 minute drive back home before we would get to partake and that was going to be a ruined $38 meal. So, 30 minutes after getting our food... had an absolutely delightful meal experience. My 2pc COD was still warm, cooked perfectly, firm and the batter didn't slough off into a ball of goo that a lot of places deliver upon. The fries were delicious. The Cole slaw was amazing with the dill. I feel the slaw could use a splash of acid, so next time I will squeeze some of the lemon into it. This review was on track to be a 2 star. But, the food quality was enanthema that promises an immaculate future experience. I enjoyed my meal, and even more importantly am even more excited to return!

If customer service and quality food is important to you, than this is must-do for anyone visiting Oak Bay. After discovering this hidden gem last year, I've enjoyed every experience I've had there. Their little shop can occasionally get busy, but it's always worth the wait. The batter used on the fish, the tartar sauce, and the british-style chips have to be my favourite parts about the food, but I don't want to discount the burgers as they are just as tastylicious.

I've driven by for years but stopped for lunch today, and I'm glad I did. The food was fresh and hot and yummy... without a really long wait. They have several picnic tables or you could take your meal or ice cream to the beach, just a block away. The staff are very friendly too!

I ordered the 2 pieces of a Halibut Meal, comes with fries and slaw. It was a bit pricy but you get a lot of food, definitely enough for two people. They put a little curry in the batter and I've never had it that way and have to say I really liked it. Excellent fish and chip shop.

A gem of a place. A fish and chips like you’ve never tasted. They use sourdough starter in their batter and it’s an umami delight for your tastebuds. Also- singles! Oysters, scallops, fried by the unit for a couple bucks. A MUST! Watch for tricky opening hours though (covid…).

I’ve been here a few times and while it isn’t the best fish and chip shop I’ve been to, it is more than solid. It has a great history and is located in picturesque Estevan. Beaches and parks are a short walk in just about every direction making this a perfect summer takeout dinner. Will definitely be going back again and again. Keep up the good work!

A pleasant place to stop. The halibut was a little overcooked, making the batter coating a little hard to cut through, but the halibut itself was tasty. The fries were fresh-cut and the coleslaw was fresh and crunchy. We will probably be back when we're in the area.

What a great place. Our family enjoyed fish and chips, a fish wrap, and kids grilled cheese. We were all impressed and cant wait to go back. One thing that stood out to me was that the kids meals were made with the same quality as the adult meals. So many places throw together cheap junk and call it a kids meal, this place does not....great quality and great taste.

Willows galley has some of the best Fish and Chips on the southern island. It's nowhere near as big of a tourist trap as some of the other places in town, which is great as there isn't a lot of room to sit. If you're looking to take your food away though, this place is the bomb. Call ahead, order up and it'll be hot and ready and wrapped for you to take away. The portion sizes are ridiculous. The coleslaw, tarter sauce and batter is all made in house with love and it shows.

We went for a walk on willows beach and stopped here for a bite. They were so busy (friday at 6pm) that it took 30 minutes to get our order. It was totally worth the wait! Hubby said it's the best fish and chip he's had in a long time!!! I loved the atmosphere.

Such a great accidental find. Walked by this street and originally wanted to stop for ice cream, got hot dogs and drinks instead and was delicious. Very friendly staff, reasonable prices, and such a cool little setup they got going on. They've got some benches and tables set up, and plenty of food options. I hope to return here, would love to try more of their food options. Great place to visit!

I used to take my kids there for lunch after hanging around at the beach (repeat customer). Took my grandson there today hoping for a score. The service was friendly and while the fries were nice enough, the fish and tartar sauce had a funny flavour. I couldn't eat the cole slaw. The batter had a thin crisp then a thin layer of sticky that stuck to my teeth. The batter also had an odd taste. It was inedible. The atmosphere was thick with fumes from the deep fryer, my jacket still smells hours later. Fish and chips.... Just okay at its best, downright awful at its worst. This was the worst lunch I've had in a long time.

Fries are always great, gravy great, hubby's beef burger was ok, had very similar flavour to macdonalds burgers but was much bigger. Coleslaw was forgotten in my order. Fish burger was not memorable. Although the butter on the soft bun was a nice flavour I couldn't taste the fish or any flavor from the slaw mixture on it. The bun was way too big and the piece of cod was way too small (and I eat light, small meals happily). I liked that the fish wasn't breaded in the burger as it's not needed with that bun. Should have gone with a piece of cod instead of in the burger format. Place was hopping busy which is a good sign that people like the food. Happy for them that they are doing well during this pandemic and we will go back to try some of their other items.

The French fries are home-cut and are really good. The fish, of course, is excellent, too, and the portions are big. The dining area is clean, with lots of interesting things to look at while waiting for your meal. Made a Google account just to review this. Walked in today, not expecting anything crazy. This was THE best Fish & Chips I have ever had and I’m not just saying that. The outside was crisp but not too crisp and the inside was perfect. Lots of flavours. The tartar sauce is also excellent. I can always appreciate hand cut fries. Staff was friendly, especially the owner. I live in Langford and will go out of my way just to be back again!

Thank you for this opportunity. I have eaten fish and chips all over the world and was excited to try Willow’s when I recently moved to Oak Bay. Thus, you can imagine my complete surprise and horror when I got home to find that Willow’s had cut one small cod fillet in half(!) and dumped a bunch of French Fries in the bundle. Since when does half a small piece of cod constitute a full serving? Needless to say, I had to make dinner as your serving wouldn’t have fed a sparrow. I Will never go back to Willow’s as their approach to selling fish n chips is nothing short of MISERLY. You should be ashamed of yourselves for taking advantage of people like this. How do you sleep at night?

The Galley is THE ONLY PLACE to get fabulous fish and chips in Victoria!! We've been buying dinner from The Galley for 30 years, introduced by my parents who were retired here!! We continued to get fish and chips here ever since, now we are retired here and still ordering!! I alway say, "why turn my stove on when theirs is already on"!!! NEVER had a bad meal, the fish is the freshest (I prefer the halibut) and the hand-cut fries are like my English grandma used to make. The other "joints" in Victoria don't cut it for this meal - don't be disappointed, call the galley - great staff!!!!

I went there months ago. It's delicious! Poutine is also great! I want to try everything here! Just not a good position for me, need to walk 30 minutes or take two buses. If it's near I would go every week. However, last time I bought an additional source but I didn't get it though I paid. I didn't go back because it needs me 1 hour as I said above. Hope staffs can be more careful.

While people waste an hour waiting in line for the very over-hyped Red Fish Blue Fish, or decide to go for the soggy mess that is Barbs those in the know come here. I took the halibut and chips. The batter for the fish was terrible. It was thick and not crispy at all. The fish itself was chewing without the feeling of eating a piece of fish. It was nearly chewable as a piece of chicken meat. Chips could stuff my stomach but less than delicious and crispy. Only the oyster wrapped with average batter could attract my appetite with its sea water taste. I would not go back for fish and chips at this restaurant.

The quality of fish isnt bad.. but the value is way off. you're paying $20 for a plate of low quality fries and 1 piece of fish smaller than the palm of your hand. Fish n chips is one of my favourite meals and Ive gone to many different places around town, this is one I will never be returning to. PLUS I couldnt even sit down to eat it due to there only being 2 outdoor tables being taken up by a group of teenagers and seating for maybe 5 inside which was full as well, so I ate in my car. All in all a very disappointing experience. Would not recommend to anyone unless they dont mind paying $35-$40 for a meal($9/tiny piece of halibut, $7/tiny piece of cod) in order to get a proper amount fish. Paying $20 for a meal thats pretty much just a bunch of mediocre fries and a few bites of fish, just sucks.

Not a huge fan. Ice cream is often too soft, closed at weird times and days. Really good if you are in the area as a tourist, but as a local I don't hear often. Unless I have a hunger for some good fries. Great fries.

Pretty shocking. I have tasted better chips cooked from a frozen packet. Plus I paid with a credit card and was forced to tip as there wasn't an option for no tip just different amounts. Surely this is illegal. Wouldn't recommend anyone going here.

We dropped by this cute little place for some fish and chips to celebrate my husbands 31st bday. This little hidden gem used to be owned by his grandfather years ago, so he had fond memories here. Boy was I surprised! Not only did we get a good little dose of nostalgia but we also got the best fish n chip dinner ive ever tasted!I dont usually make ratings online but I just had to come and say how good this place is. BEST FISH N CHIPS EVER!!!

Best fish and chips I’ve ever had fish is fresh and cooked to perfection, The house blend tarter sauce is so good. Their burgers are always filling and full of flavour by far the best built burgers I’ve experienced. Everyone there is always so kind and passionate about serving good fresh food.

Our favorite is the halibut and chips. Always fresh, crispy and warm. We recently tried the Neptune Burger - both deep fried and grilled - LOVED both. The bun was soft and the tarter-coleslaw dressing was delicious. Friendly and prompt service.

I don't think Willows Galley needs my help, but I just want to confirm for anyone who is not sure - it's worth it. Delicious Neptune sandwich. Huge portions of fries. The onion rings were surprisingly delicious. Wonderful fried fish. They even have great chocolate shakes. They focus on one thing and they do it right. Glad to be able to support a local company that is managing to stay open when so many businesses are suffering. Nice to see everyone physically distancing while in line!

been coming to this establishment for years, the owners and staff are always really nice and accomadating, the food is excellent, recommend the Neptune burger, fish chips, onion rings etc all are good and cant really go wrong with anything, nice place to get something to take out or eat in.

Went yesterday for halibut fish and chips and was incredibly disappointed, especially by looking at the reasonably good review score I had higher hopes then what I received. The halibut fish was way over battered, it was like chewing on a dough ball and the fish was not fresh at all. The fries were completely unsalted and flavourless, maybe the kitchen forgot on this batch but they tasted like a straight fried unseasoned potato, not great. The coleslaw given was unedible and the dressing used just tasted like straight mayonnaise, it wasn't even regular coleslaw dressing just creamy mayo. The hotdog I ordered for $5 just used a weiner from a cheap $1 pack of tiny hotdogs, what a complete rip off. Overall 2/5, not great.

Delicious! Prepared in a timely manner; the halibut was crispy, the chips just right and a hint of dill in the coleslaw was altogether a perfect lunch to enjoy outside in the sunshine. The price was also good and ice cream available for dessert or on its own.
