This Fish Shop is classified in the category of Grocery store.
Nice local grocer with good deals and vast selection. Doing a lot more than some places to be Covid-19 smart. Make sure you have your mask and be safe.
Great local grocery store! Be sure to visit the meat/seafood dept and say hi to John and his team. Theyll help you out with anything you might be looking for. Support local!
Lots of vegan alternatives, more than at a regular grocery store, even more than some other local shops. Friendly staff and a super cute little shop. Pulls in some lovely customers too! Right on the beach
A great little community grocery store, shelves are packed with almost every item imaginable; can rival most chain grocery stores. Excellent fresh fruits and veggie department and their meat counter is amazing as well.
A nice and convenient local grocery store. Has some very nice local, organic, or just out of the usual stuff. It is a little pricier than SaveOnFoods and even Thrifty Foods some times though.
Bought some potato salad from the deli. Mistake. Ridiculous price, ho-hum product. Will not repeat that mistake. Prices in general are high. Absolutely no motivation to shop there again. I'd give zero stars if that was a choice.
Nice store. I found it quite pricey though. Deli is nice for a quick bite.
Fantastic selection, a good focus on local products and produce, and a very friendly staff. This is a historical grocery business that has found a way to successfully offer value in changing times. Love that it is so close to home.
Good selection of interesting foods. It's a small store. It's clean, well loved by the community, and the staff has always been polite and helpful.
Great Store to shop in. On the expensive side but commercial rent is expensive in the area, and provides good quality products. Staff is always friendly. Been shopping here for years. Great for people with limited mobility, or people who want to get in and out quickly.
Nice store and nice staff but it can be quite pricey!
Friendly staff, reasonable prices, and a good selection of products. I like that the store makes an effort to offer a lot of local products, and are willing to order in many special request items that can be hard to find.
Prize winning, high quality, grocery store. Excellent fish, seafood & meat selection. Nice deli and good variety of grab & go items. Our favourite local food store.
Since I do not live in the nieghbourhood I'm not a Regular, but I make special trips to shop at Peppers. Right from the beginning I knew I had found a special store - the people are fantastic and often the selection cannot be found in other grocery stores. I appreciate the friendly faces and the prompt and professional service. Michelle was great when I asked to have flowers put aside - their roses are fantastic.
Peppers has a ton of specialty and hard to find items. My first time in there I found my favorite tea - I figured I havent found it in the last 5 years I thought there's no way its sold in western Canada. Id check every store I would go into with no luck. Peppers had it! They carry cookies ive been looking for, baking supplies.. all hard to find items with great pricing. 10/10 would recommend ???? haha :)
Friendly grocery store with some unique offerings and great prices.
Peppers has a tremendous variety of quality foods in a compact footprint. The prices are a bit higher than the big supermarket chains but the quality and service are exemplary.
Is my local grocery store and I absolutely love it. It is also used quite frequently by university students. Great place to grab a few things you might need, and the beach right there close by
This is a great little local grocery store. It's quite small and definitely isn't the cheapest place for grocery staples, but their meats and deli is excellent quality. The amount of produce is quite limited, but what they have is very good.
Went today. somethings are overpriced, some meat deals are a steal. I find the cashiers hit and miss. TOday I had tall young cashier. NO THANK YOU, PLEASE, or anything of that nature. Was so rude and entitled. These people will collect CERB and not advance in life. Please coach your staff.
Very poor service from the front manager Michelle. The worst I have been treated. She didn't listen or even tried to fix the problem ,when I asked to speak to the store manager, she said he was on lunch break and walk away from me.
Peppers has a bit of everything. Prices are reasonable enough, only downside I'd say is the size, as I've had a couple of times where they didn't have what I needed
Nice little quaint place to grab any of your grocery needs situated in a strip mall with amenities. Very friendly staff with excellent customer service!
I always stop here on my way to Gyro for a nice refreshing drink at a reasonable price. The staff are always kind and welcoming, you always feel at home. They also have a surprisingly good range of products, from caviar to fidget spinners to dumpling wrappers, but they can be a bit pricy compared to Fairway ,however they are locally owned and I prefer to support them.
Great selection of local produce and meats including organic and ethical meats. Prices can be higher than chain stores. Good customer service.
Love this store. Lots of selection. A little on the expensive side though. Its got almost a 'cozy' shopping atmosphere. Friendly staff. Gotta choose WHEN you shop because when its busy, its a pain....narrow aisles!
Conveniently located but pricier than larger grocery stores. Good selection of products for its size. The cashiers are always very friendly.
Terrible prices and a terrible location, trying to act local can only bring you so far when other stores that are local, have better prices, service and location. The deli foods are very poor except the potato salad and buffalo bites. Meat is priced surprisingly well considering the rest of the store, which is a plus. Produce and general grocery isn't worth it in the slightest, if you want local shop at country grocer or red barn. This store isn't worth it unless you live in close proximity and are willing to spend a decent amount more.
Decent little grocery store but not so great if you just wanna grab lunch as the lineup can be huge
Can be pricey but they have good sale prices. Always clean. Nice local grocery store.
really lovely little store. great for if you're at the beach. close to campus. always a pleasure to go down to cadboro bay
Peppers is a charming welcoming little store. Pepper's own roast beef from the deli is the best in town. A few years ago, my family from England came to visit. They loved Peppers and would go out of their way to shop there. It has character and history. Prices are consistent with other small store, but a little more that the supermarkets. It is worth paying extra for the quality and the friendliness of the store.
Very convenient with quality foods. The price isn't great but I've seen much worse at small grocery stores like this. Service is always top notch.
Fantastic service in store and online delivery so very helpful throughout the pandemic. Lots of local suppliers and a fully independently owned friendly store. Thanks to them I’ve HD to go to absolutely no stores. Delivery is $????10 but with the senior discount on Tuesday and Wednesday it’s effectively cleared. Thanks Pepper’s!
A unique little grocery store; good selection for the size. Found the staff a little snobby but overall worth stopping in to grab some lunch fixings while at the nearby beach.
Best selection, lovely staff, super clean.
Good location. Unique options of products. Fresh meat and fish.
First time! Amazing selection, definitely going back! (with a bag or a car next time!)
Great customer service, friendly staff. Impressive selection of produce and groceries in such a small store!
i just bought fried rice from there and i must say it is the worst i have ever tasted! their potato salad is great though, definitely reminds me of home. my friend also got the chow mein and it was really really bad! tasted rubbery and smelled weird! never gonna buy rice or noodles from there! and i suggest nobody else does.
Best little grocer in Victoria. More on the high end. Fancy and unusual things for a few extra bucks. The meat is exceptional and they carry some very nice baked goods.
Favourite grocery store for Cordova Bay locals. Great meat & deli for beach meals
Small locally owned grocery store that carries a great variety of products. It can be a bit cramped inside, but I've always found great service and fresh produce. Prices are on par with most grocery stores and a short (hilly) walk from the university.
Was in the small, locally owned grocery store a little over 2 weeks ago and left with a great experience! Although this store is small, there is a large variety of products that all serve as important staples in a household kitchen! I was helped by a grocery boy named ''Joe'' and a cashier named ''Kris'' who were both exceptionally outgoing and polite; making my experience at peppers even better. Will be back soon!
Always go here and love it. Great Staff and selection.
Great local grocery store. Good deli, all and all just an awesome place.
A bit pricey, but the student discount for purchases over $10 definitely helps lessen the blow. Well suited for small daily purchases, as the limited selection makes large grocery runs a bit of a challenge. Friendly staff who quickly get to know neighbourhood regulars.
This is my favourite grocery store! It is the best place to purchase high quality meats, poultry & fish (love the butcher shop within the shop). The staff are super helpful and go out of their way to make the experience a positive one. Love how they handle the front end too. Cashiers are friendly and move the lines along quickly.
Their deli chicken wings are the best I've ever had. Consistent great quality keeps me coming back. Amazing flavour and really juicy. Touch on the pricey side is the only negative.
Always great produce, meat and specialty stuff, amazing selection for such a small space. Prices are a tough high but you pay for quality
Locally owned grocery store with a wonderful selection of local and organic goods. The produce is always fresh. The deli counter has a great variety of meats and lunch goodies with the best cooked chicken on the island. The service is exceptional at the meat counter where they will help with all your needs. The cashiers are friendly and helpful.
Nice little grocery store with a good selection of items not found elsewhere in Victoria. Good for a snack or drinks before hitting the beach.
I've been to Thrifty's, Save on Foods, Fairway, Safeway (now gone...), Market on Yates and Peppers is the only Grocery store that I've seen worker handling the food without gloves. At deli section, they touch the container without gloves, touch the tongs without gloves, they don't show whether they have washed their hands beforehand, and yet reject my request to wear gloves because apparently, to them, it's not like they aren't touching the food directly. Maybe consider contamination? Positive - They are relatively clean (not the Deli, as discussed above). I preferred to buy meats from here because they taste good, but now I'm skeptical about how they handle the food. Negative - Too Pricy. Sometimes dishonest. I've seen the Packed Date being cheated (For example, I shopped on Jan. 1, and it says it was packed on Jan 2).
Bit pricy but it does have a good selection of meat and great deli. Best in house roast beef at deli.
What a great store! Friendly staff and well laid out shopping area.
This is a surprisingly well stocked little place. Prices are on the higher end like you would expect for a boutiqueey place. Check out the deli in the back corner for some good snacks. They also have a student discount if you show your one card
It is a small locally owned store with friendly staff and high quality food! A bit expensive, but you get what you pay for. The 10% discount for students helps too!
A Neighborhood grocer that's worth leaving your neighborhood to get too! Excellent produce and meat departments. I love to shop local. . . but sometimes that can be expensive Peppers really does cover all your grocery needs at completive prices.
Most expensive grocery store on Vancouver Island hands down
Excellent variety - many gluten free options. Seems to carry some things that the bigger stores don't! Friendly staff!
