We have all the opinions of real people like you who have information of the services and products of High Street Fish And Chips (Fish Shop) in the area close to North York (Canada).
Currently this business receives a score of 4.4 stars out of 5 and that rating is based on 127 reviews.
As you can see the average of ratings that it reaches is good, and it is based on a very high number of feddbacks, so we can be pretty sure that the evaluation is quite accurate. If people have bothered to evaluate when they are pleased, is that it works.
You know that we don't usually bother to set feddbacks when these are good and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or issue...
This Fish Shop is classified in the category of Fish & chips restaurant.
Traditional fish and chips to the highest degree. Some of the best mushy peas that I have had in Toronto. Fish was top notch; however, the chips could have been better. Went for 'The Big Fish and Chips' which was great, but will go for the standard next time so that I can indulge in the Sticky Toffee Pudding option!
Small quite place with fast friendly staff. I got myself the two and a few with a coleslaw and it was more than enough. The halibut is one of the best I've tried and the batter is just right. Even though I was full I would have easily has one more piece if it was put in front of me.
Fast and super tasty. I had the halibut and chips, the wife had the tiger shrimp, we were very impressed. Only small con is that its alittle expensive but you get what you pay for which is really good food. Will definitely be returning.
I remmember pre covid This place was the best but I don't think they cook the halibut the same way anymore Mines was over cooked I remmmeber my first time it was immaculate But my recent experience wasn't to my standard nor theirs I'm sure 3 stars for the great batter tho!! It's still a must try Maybe the haddock is better this time around
Quaint location with a homey vibe. Not too busy for a weekday afternoon visit. The specials are certainly a good choice, although the menu had a good variety of options all for a reasonable price. The fish and chips were very well done, noticably accurate when compared to the authentic stuff from the UK. The side of coleslaw was a great addition. The Sheppard's pie was also very well done, with generous portions and very creamy mashed potatoes.
Service is always great. The food is very good. Family oriented... Clean...
Always excellent food, great service and friendly staff!!! Best fish and chips in town!!
First time at this restaurant. Enjoyed the halibut. It wasn't greasy like most restaurants. Our waitress was so accomodating. There were many in our party for dinner. She was fun, kind and patient. We will definitely go back.
Best fish and chips in town. Good old-fashioned British fish and chips and lots of other British fare if your craving a taste of home. Definitely head over to high Street fish and chips
Got the full Monty . Mushy peas 2 pcs of Haddock Chips And a pint . It's been a while and I was disappointed in the fish batter it used to be the closest thing to Scottish fish and chips from back home but not this time, i think something's has changed, please get back your roots again ????
Best fish & chips I ever had...........All the rest are posers
Outstanding Scottish-style fish & chips shop with puddings like haggis and black. Clean, friendly and with plenty of parking. A regular stop for me.
Delicious, fast take out service, amazing pricing
Always good food and love the staff! Good job guys
The Best Fish&Chip's in north york also a great value
Been going to High Street for more than 10 years now. It is one of the rare places that both food and service and food gets better every time I visit. Get the lunch specials if you happen to swing by on a weekday, they can feed an army!
Was not happy here. The staff wasn't attentitive to me or my kids.we sat for a while before we were approached to get our order. Our food came after a short time and was not only as mush and raw in the middle but it was filled with grease with every bite. Very disappointed for a fish and chips place. My son wouldn't even touch his food after one bite. Disappointed
Woooow what an amazing first experience ???????? the halibut and chips was sooooo fresh and delicious!!! The fries weren't soggy or drenched in grease!! The gravy was on point ???????? they even have a discount for seniors!! I'd definitely recommend this place for amazing dinner!! They also have freshly made meat pies ???????????? definitely 5????
Today is May 7th 2020 and I'm so excited because I ordered fish and chips from this place to be picked up at 5PM ! Oh how I have missed them during this pandemic!
Very considerate servers and worth the drive for fresh fish and chips English style. Pies are delicious as well
While the only "haggis" you'll find here is a vegetarian dish that has little in common with its namesake, this delightful little diner does a good job at presenting a Scottish-themed menu, complete with some ales and bitters you'd have trouble finding elsewhere. The place is simply but tastefully furnished, and service is as friendly as you'd find in any UK chippy: attentive without being fawning. Selection is limited, but each item on the menu is lovingly prepared. Prices are reasonable, and parking is ample.
Excellent food both fish and chips and all their English fair, Easy access for the elderly, and very clean. Went here with my BFs dad who is from Coventry, England, and he was extremely pleased with the food! They also have fantastic desserts! Lemon posset, sticky toffee pudding, bread pudding, and tons more!
I can sum up my experience in only seven words "Best fish and Chips in the city!" It's a rather unassuming looking little place but don't be fooled and give it a try, you won't be disappointed. Note that they only serve bottled beers, no draft pints with your meal.
We usually call ahead for pick up. We've eaten in with no complaints but it's on our way home so we do take out. The cheapest fish, haddock with chips, is reasonably priced at $11.95 and the perfect portion. I hope they never go cheap on quality, because it's their advantage. I removed a star only because condiments like a spoonful of their tartar sauce is extra. Instead we just use our own tartar sauce (tartar sauce is easy! a spoon of mayo and relish mixed together and wah-la!). We also add sea-salt and malt vinegar on the chips when we get home. Try it! The pudding desert is good. I find their salad over priced for the portion. Overall: Compared to other places the portion is better, the portion is more fairly priced than other places, and most importantly the fish batter and chips are excellent, so I recommend it.
Awesome fish and chips and shepherds pie. They serve Irn Bru.
Good food generous portion and although i hate anything battered just the perfect crunch for my taste
I ordered Halibut and it's a big piece. Very very fresh. Delicious. Lunch time is packed. I'll be back again soon.
Always a great meal here. Service is fast and friendly.
Love it, great food, great staff, always clean and friendly
Very good fish and chips. Coleslaw was also very good.
Great fish and chips!! Feels like an old fashioned English chippy on the inside. Reminds me of my home town fish and chips spot. Definitely reccomended!!
Our family really enjoyed the food at High Street. We'll be back for sure!
Fantastic fish & chips and meat pies. Friendly atmosphere.
This is some proper good fish served by some very nice white people. Proper class!!! I wish they had bigger space for seating, don't like sitting too close to others. 5 star for customer service and food!!
Great neighbourhood fish and chips place. Homemade tartar sauce is good if you like tartar sauce. The lunch specials are always a good deal, and the portion sizes are pretty generous.
Excellent food, service and prices. Great mushy peas and pickled onions
Classic fish and chips but much more. Way more battered fish options than most that might have one or two. Waitress helped me decide, like a fine steak house describes different cuts. As an aside to the meal, the Google Maps directions from the North went through a nice area I would otherwise never have see,
The food is great. However 1 server is terrible at her job, I know her as "Fish Cake lady" as we talked about fish cakes one time. I thought she was just bad to me but then realized she's horrible to single goers all the time. I witnessed her snapping at an older lady that was alone and giving her a hard time for the order that she put in. It was really not cool. She was just an older lady trying to have a nice day out, and she was treated so badly and rudely... Otherwise the place is great...
Great food and fantastic staff..good old fashion British service!
The staff wasn't excited to see two brown guys walking into the restaurant. The younger lady behind the counter gave us a cold stare. Not a single smile from either of the two very senior and white servers. No exchange of pleasantries , no small talk , no reading the specials ! We ordered , ate our food in silence avaoiding uncomfortable stares and left the place as fast as we possibly could.
Sticky toffee pudding is sensational. Their portions are huge and their fish is crisp and tasty
July 15 2017 . Best cod and frys I ever ate.
Take out
The best fish n chips in town ! The only thing better than their food is their awesome service, A must try if you like fish n chips.
My family and I always love going to High Street not only because the food is excellent, but so is the service. Portions are generous and I often have to take home leftovers. We've tried quite a few fish and chips shops across Canada and this is our favourite by far!
Classic fish and chips
I decided to try this restaurant, after tons of aggressive advertising and praising on 640. It's okay, nothing extraordinary really. Not the hype you hear in the radio ads.
Friendly service. Good portions. Fresh and tastes great!
Excellent Excellent couldn't stop raving about food and service. We had shrimp and chips as well as halibut and chip, bread and butter, mushy peas, coleslaw and pickled beets all excellent and very large portions. We will be back many times again in furture
The fish is okay and the fries that came with it is mushy...The deep fried Onion Skewers were amazing!!! I'm not sure of what happened to our order..we did not enjoy it.
Nice little place. Decent service. The fish and chips are ok but the batter on the fish is pretty heavy and thick. They have coloring mats and crqyins which is always a plus for me ????
Best fish and chips in the area. Always super fresh and decent portion sizes. Also, their tartar sauce is the best! Too bad they aren't opened on Sunday or Monday.
Best fish and chips ever. Love the atmosphere
For me it's gotta one of the best places to get halibut and chips. My go to when in Scarborough.
Halibut is better than haddock, mashed peas were really good.
Had the steak and ale pie and it was delicious! Nice clean and friendly too.
We didn't know that this plaza, let alone this very pleasant Fish and Chips restaurant existed from where we live. Surprising to me, they welcomed us as if we were long time regular customers and it was very nice. The fish and chips were delicious. Not too much batter, just about right. I will say this, for $11.00, the portion size they give you is a lot. Well worth the money and the kind hospitality. I did not give this review five stars because I want to try every item on their menu. I definitely want to come back and try the Steak and Kidney pie. That will be the test to if a five star rating is worthy. I felt for that moment, I was in England enjoying authentic fish and chips. They certainly made it feel like it. Thank you for having my little family at your establishment.
So glad they are open again for takeout during the pandemic! Best fish ever and the pies are to die for!
Delicious fish, coleslaw and tartar, all homemade. Fries average.
Great halibut and chips Not greasy and large portions. Service is great. Senior's 10% discount on Wed. A bit dated but old style restaurant. Love the tea pots Only complaint is no auto door opener and no accessible washroom despite what description states. My walker did not even fit through the outer washroom door. Not much room around the sink to move. I know it is an old building and they are just tenants. Landlord needs to step up.
Great food, some of the best fish and chips I've ever had. Very reasonably priced. Good hearty real fries, big pieces of fish.
Service here is fantastic. It feels like a true mom and pop shop; they take extra care to make sure their customers are happy. The fish and chips are great, done in a traditional style, and very large portions (the lunch portion, one serving of fish, was almost too much for me). Fish and tiger shrimp were fresh and tasty, fries are also great (hand cut). It's one of the top places for fish and chips in the GTA.
really didn't love this place. It did not live up to the hype, I was expecting much better food. Signs all over prohibiting school kids which I am sure are a nuisance. Great for senior citizens thats about it. Much better fish and chips in St. Lawrence Market at Busters Sea Cove. Large halibut was ridiculously expansive for a big piece of fish and mediocre fries.
Get take out. I wouldn't personally wait for a table if it's busy but definitely one of the best fried fish in the GTA. Chips were nothing special - get it if you need to complete the meal but I'd just go with the fried fish!
So good. So fresh and incredible customer service. This place never disappoints!
Go to lunch spot for fish and chips. I usually order the lunch special which perfect fit lunch time. If I remember correctly it's one piece of cod with chips, a drink and coleslaw. I always get fries well done for the extra crispiness.
Where do I start. I was taken here by a friend and it is one of my top three places easily for fish and chips. The scone and the fish cake were amazing as well. It's worth the drive from Brampton as I was in the area for work. Definitely worth a visit.
For $20 dollars you'll get a heaping load of french fries the equivalent quality and taste of Mccains from the supermarket and a single fillet of halibut. The halibut had nice batter and in general tasted good although a tad greasy, in general this was NOT worth $20
This is one of my new favourite places for fish and chips. Whenever I'm in the mood for it and in the area we go here! I would even come here just for the fresh cut fries which are perfectly fried with whole pieces and not overloaded with the smaller crispy end pieces.
Simply awesome! The best in Toronto. I had the "Full Monty" , haddock and chips with mushy peas, bread and butter and, of course, a pot of tea. The plate arrived with the fish fillet hanging over both sides of the dinner plate. Deeeelishush!!! OK, I'm so I'm a bit biased. I'm English. Check it out for yourselves.
One of our favorite spots for our family! We have always heard about High Street on the radio but it used to be far away. We moved around 3 years ago, not knowing it was the area of High Street Fish and Chips. Well what a treat it was to know it was just around the corner from us!! We visit often. staff are super friendly and food delicious!! it has been a while since we went in because of Covid, but my hubby would grab take out sometimes. Can't wait to go back and enjoy eating in. Thank you High Street!
Delicious! Best fish and chips I've had outside of the UK. Mushy peas too. What a treat!
Always good. Tried the fish cake today. It is great
Tasty food, super nice staff, highly recommend checking this place out.
Everything tasted fresh and homemade; I loved the atmosphere and the food.
Clams and fries were fantastic but for heavens sake include a side of coleslaw. How cheap is cabbage?
Good food, pricing of course has gone up a little over the years, popular neighborhood spot. Recommended. Free parking on site. Staff are friendly and polite. Service is good, quick. Licensed location as well. Have a number of meat pies in a fridge at the take out counter that are handy to pick up and heat up at home whenever.
Great staff and good food at a good price. This is my new go-to place for fish and chips. It is close to home and I can phone in my pick-up order on my way home.
best fish and chips in town hands down
The second best fish and chips in the GTA area, in our opinion (the first being Olde Yorke). We are English and Irish, so we really are fussy about our fish and chips and want them to be authentic. Those at High Street really are! We ordered haddock and chips, both were excellent, crispy batter exactly like it should be, tender, fluffy fish and piping hot. My husband was pleased to see mushy peas on the menu and malt vinegar and HP sauce (HAS to be served with these in an authentic restaurant!) were also there. There is a large variety of English and Scottish dishes which we will definitely go back and try, if we can resist those fantastic fish and chips. Great service, the restaurant is a tiny bit crowded with small tables but it doesn't detract from the enjoyment of the food. Excellent.
Excellent shrimp and chips the best that I have had in awhile.
Really enjoy eating here, food is great tasting, The wee halibut is my favourite & more than enough food Server’s/staff are lovely, very attentive Great price’s as well ..... highly recommend for traditional fish & chip’s
First thing I noticed as I walked in was how clean the place looked! The halibut and chips was not bad. The people were friendly.
The best fish and chips I've had. Their savory pies are fantastic also!!
My wife and I really loved it. Great food, nice staff.
Wonderful staff, great quality food and comfy seating. Nice atmosphere.
Dinner
Nothing special....I order the fish and chips that they are apparently known for and it wasnt good. The fries need salt my friend was laughing at me cause my face. I was going use the tarter to give my food flavour but I was stuck with bland mayo....and my friend was laughing more. My friends have enjoyed the place however for me it's a meh.
Best Fish and Chips in the city. Bar none!
If you are craving for some good ol' pies, fish and chips, or haggis, this is a rare find. Their food are homemade, even their tartar sauce! I highly recommend this place if you miss Scottish food.
Classic fish and chips restaurant! Very kind and hospitable staff, whom check in on you and your meal. Ordered the haddock and chips as well as the halibut and chips. No complaints; the portions we got were decently big and not too greesy or too battered. Though we didn't get enough chips, the fish was so big that we were almost too full to finish the chips. Overall, you can't go wrong with this location. It's got that homey feel of every fish and chips place. Would recommend.
This establishment can't handle busy lineups waiting for 1 hour 25 minutes for fish&chips. And they also ran out of Halibut and Cod buy the time my family got to sit down. They need some experience chefs not 2 cooks on Good Friday
I had the Haddock with chips for takeout. While the haddock was a very generous size, the chips could be in the fryer a little longer. The fish had just enough batter, and it was nice and crispy on the outside and the inside is flakey. The price was fair for what you got. What was sad was that no tartar sauce (the packaged ones, not the homemade) was given. Most fish and chips place automatically give you tartar sauce without you asking, especially for take out. It kind of took away from the experience. I did like how they wrapped everything nice and tight for the drive home. If it wasn't for the tartar sauce, I would have given this place a slightly higher rating
Great fish and chips, but lacking in atmosphere
Love this place, staff is always nice, food is always better.
Nice little restaurant. Food is pretty good.
Love the quality of the food
Place is busy, great quality of fish, friendly service.
Been going here for years. My Scottish Grandmother loves the food... Which speaks to its British authenticity. You only live once - get the sticky toffee pudding :)
Nice fish and clean oil
The best authentic English style fish n chips joint in GTA.
Classic fish n chips. Great service & fantastic food is what keeps us coming back again & again. Nice selection of fish that is lightly battered. Looking forward to tucking into a Mince n Cheese pie. Clean facilities with friendly staff. Parking is no problem.
Good for what it is, never healthy but quality fish. Chips are just okay.
A great stop for fish & chips. The best and not a skimpy portion either. Check out the meat pies too. Delicious! And the service, second to none
Probably the best London style fish in chips in Toronto! I have had several fish and chips in the city and I can tell you, most of them aren't that good, despite what people say. The portions are ALWAYS very generous. The atmosphere is very calm and clean. The waitresses are very pleasant and the food is consistently good. Bottom line, if you want true London style fish and chips, come to High Street!
Good haddock & chips. Stopped in for take out, spur of the moment, and was in and out in just over 10 minutes. They forgot my tarter sauce which was disappointing, but otherwise, I enjoyed the crispy fish and tons of fries.
Great fish and chips! Freindly servers.
Applied for a job at this establishment and have gotten very ignorant rude emails and have been very miss treated by high street fish and chips very unprofessional establishment and I live in the Underhill area and would not recommend this restaurant to anyone
We were a regular customer until last time when I found a hair in my food but decided not bring it up, but after finishing my food, our waitress asked if I was really hungry because I could finish my food and she had never seen anybody to do that before and I found the comment not respectful, so from my experience I won't recommend this restaurant since the waitress was rude and food is not prepared properly.
Very good fish and chips. We enjoyed
Excellent selection of seafood and reasonable prices. Sufficient portions and condiments and attentive, pleasant staff.
Amazing haddock fish and chips. Fresh and flaky. Good service. Only rating 4 stars because they provided just sliced bread and it was not even toasted.
Meal type
Great fish & chips and I love the meat pies. The owner and the staff are all warm and friendly which make it a perfect choice.
Awesome food! Friendly service and beautiful ambiance. Super hidden gem in the city.
Best Fish and Chips restaurant in the Town! Loved it! Always so fresh! Love the tarter sauce there. Ladies are so friendly that serve. Brought crayons and coloring sheets for my 2 toddlers so they won't be bored.
Good fish and chips and speedy service. I would return to High Street if in the area again.
Halibut and chip , good taste Very good servce. Highly recommend this restaurant
Was looking for fish n chips, reviews online didn't lie, one of the best in the city if not the #1
Exceptional food, super nice employees, regularly awesome vibes. They charge fair prices and the food quality is great. Keep it up.
Friendly staff, great fish! Can't wait to try some of the desserts!
Fish was great, fries were ok. The staff was great !!!
Very well organised and convenient spot. They offer generous meals and for affordable rates. We liked the menu very much and the staff members were super friendly and explanatory. Will definitely recommend this place.
Amazing food. Best fish and chip in a 100km. Quick quality and great staff highly recommend
Excellent Fish and Chips. Not greasy at all ! Wait staff are very friendly and efficient
The best fish & chips I’ve have, light crispy batter fried cod. Fried shrimp was excellent as well.
Hands down the best fish and chips around here. Perfect every time.
Best fish and chips. Pies are amazing also. Staff is always helpful and courteous.
Lovely wait staff. Extra kind to our children. Cute out of the way spot in the neighborhood. Food is always consistently good and a good alternative to Olde Yorke.
Great fish and chips from a little neighbourhood restaurant.
great place to eat. Clean dining area. Friendly staff. Delicious meal. Good size portions!
Good quality, fresh fish, price is reasonable.
Service
This place is not bad. Decent fish and chips. Kinda old school in terms of atmosphere and service. But not a bad choice if you are in the mood for fried foods.
It's ok. Little pricey for me considering the portions and the taste was average. Maybe i was expecting to much from fish and chips.
One of the best fish and chips in the city.
Small homey restaurant, fish and chips were flakey and moist, batter was just right; not too thick or thin, meat pie was very flavorful. Meals were filling and inexpensive. 4 stars because server didnt check up on the table and brought wrong sides. Would rexommend to others to try though.
Price is Right. I enjoy the Sea food very much. Parking is ok.
Had the steak & mushroom pie and the Big Fish... absolutely delicious!! highly recommend this place!
Amazing Fish and Chips, super tasty
Great Fish and Chips. For any one who enjoys delicious food and an informal setting!
Excellent fish n' chips! Portions are great for sharing, must get the homemade tartar sauce and enjoyed the sticky toffee pudding.
Excellent Fish and Chips. So Delicious. Lots of food when you order
Simple and elegant decor. Excellent service and by far the best Fish N Chips in town! Absolutely loved the dinner, place and staff. Happily recommend to one and all. Will be back for more! Visited on Feb 25, 2015
Fantastic spot for fish and chips! Will definitely come back
Great place for fish and chips! Sticky toffee pudding is delicious too
one of the best fish and chips in town
Good portions. Love the coleslaw. Service was great.
Excellent fish and chips. Never too greasy. I prefer the haddock. Family friendly place. Take out is a good option too. If the kid can't finish the huge dish, they will give it as a takeout to finish later.
The best fish and chips in Toronto. Try the pies as well. Everything is homemade.
The food wasn't bad. Portions were large for the price paid. I wasn't impressed when we asked for extra tartar sauce and we were told we had to pay for it. It is the small packages and not the homemade kind. I am editing my review as per the owner's reply below asking for 9 tartar sauce for three orders to me is not unreasonable. I prefer my local fish and chips place St. Andrew's there really is no comparison. In a pinch there food was just okay.
Fresh fish in a little homey restaurant brings a little nostalgia with your meal.
It's OK, not great. The fish wasn't that flaky, and the batter was too thick. Would probably not return.
Friendly, big servings, lots of long term staff who want you to come back. Nice layout easy parking. Fish is great, the best halibut and haddock. Extremely clean and tidy. The prep area is visible and the owner operator is a kind older fellow like me who leads the cooks by example. They are not open too late and never on Sunday. Watch out for big crowds and line ups usually Friday evening.
very good fish and chips, one of the best east coast style fish and chips in the GTA/
Ambience is good. I ordered the Haddock- great portion and was delicious! My friend ordered the Halibut and he said it was really good as well. Only comment i have is that the bread given for the appetizer could’ve been of better quality (or even toasted).
A great family gathering for the best fish and chips/ and British style food, the waitresses are good to you to the listing if you have any concerns about the food
Really good fish & chips. Open Tues - Sat only.
The fish and chips are perfect. House made tarter sauce, great.
The food here is delicious and the service when dining in is amazing. My husband and I had the haddock and chips the first time we visited and everything was perfect. The batter was the right consistency and the homemade slaw and tartar sauce were delicious. We got takeout the second time and substituted our chips for mashed potatoes and we were not disappointed. The only thing is you dont get homemade tartar sauce when you are having takeout and it gets very busy in the evening so it's best to phone in your takeout order or you may have to wait a while. I highly recommend this place.
Extremely rude customer service!! I walked in asking for more tartar sauce with my 2 orders and the girl at the front desk slammed it on the table. Her attitude was unnecessary and uncalled for. I came in the establishment extremely polite and she proceeded to yell at me in a condescending way with much attitude because I asked for more tartar sauce? I would advise that she get some coaching on how to speak to people in a nice manner. I felt attacked for such a small gesture of asking for more tartar sauce. I don’t know if it was because I was a person of colour but she got fired up and super aggressive for no reason at all — even after I offered to pay for it even though it came with my meal. There are many fish and chip places in this area. I would NOT recommend this place to anyone and I will be writing a blog on this horrible experience. **** Google response back: it’s a shame you can’t even own up to the rude customer service I received and apologize. Perhaps I should just release the video I took of how your establishment treated me being a person of colour. I have a lot of followers on social media and since you don’t want to take accountability of your actions perhaps I should just release the video. All I wanted was an apology. Have a bless day. Not even a 1 star rating for this place. Ridiculous!
Very good food. Small and intimate. May have to wait for a table.
The best fish and chips in the city! Very clean, friendly staff, delicious food!
This is our go-to for a great takeout - fish and chips, but also blood sausage, delicious meat pies, fish cakes and tattie scones.
Love the menu even have bread pudding great food very friendly staff
Very nice fish and chips. Sure we will come again!
Great food, generous portions, and excellent service. Love this little secret on Underhill Drive!
We were visiting from the USA and my mom who lives here wanted fish and chips. Took my mom to High Street Fish and Chips yesterday after reading some reviews. The food was excellent and the service was even better. Kim was our server. She was very kind to my mother and made some dinner suggestions that were great. Bottom line, I would highly recommend this place, the food and service are great.
The place is clean. The staff is friendly. Good food portion size and it taste great!
Excellent fish and chips. Order over the phone or in person. Pay.. Wait outside until your name is called. Take food and go on your merry way. Masks A MUST. Enjoy ????
Good food. Rude staff. Making fun of your customers isn't the way to keep a business going.
This place gets the 5 cause the food is always good, a little pricey but all fish and chip places are not this good.
Amazing fish and chips. Very clean. Super friendly staff. Home made tarter sauce is delicious.
Food is epic. Service is nice. Watch out for Easter where it gets packed!
Absolutely amazing fish and chips and great service!
In my opinion too expensive
Great food. Wonderful staff. Unique menu items make it a real British find.
We decided to give this place a try. The servings were a decent size, the service was good, the place was clean, and plenty of parking was available. I would recommend this place, over all, a good place to eat.
Horrible customer service!!!! First time visitor...ordered for take out but realized I had a few extra minutes to eat so I sat down to eat what I could with intentions to still leave with my take out I only had a few minutes to spare and was extremely hungry ....the resteraunt was empty ....The older white waitress made a huge deal about me sitting in after ordering take out and argued with me!!!! I will never return.
Came here with my colleagues, two of us ordered the cod and one guy ordered the halibut. The fish and chips were good and the service was friendly. We also had some of the shortbread cookies to go, they were decent. I would come here again, probably pass on the cookies.
Fish here isn't bad, service is pretty horrible though. You walk in to an ordering desk for takeout orders and no servers greet you for seating, they'll charge you for everything, including tartar sauce AND to sit there and eat. After ordering my food and paying for it all (haddock and chips with a tartar sauce and drink, which came out to around $16, I gave an extra $2.50 tip) when I asked to sit down and eat it in the restaurant I was then told that I would need to pay an extra $2 if I want to eat here. And no, I couldn't use the money I gave as a tip to eat in the restaurant. Dont eat here if you expect any sort of service, they wouldn't let me leave until I paid the extra $2, and they dont allow card payments for anything under $5. They'll try to charge you for everything, but this is the first time I've been to a restaurant that charged me a few for eating at a table in their restaurant.
Food was good but not service. We had to wait 10-15 mins for someone to take order. Most importantly, we gave tipp even after that kind of service but lady did not like it and returned it saying you need it more. I don't know what she was expecting.
My absolute number 1 choice for authentic fish and chips in the city. Best coleslaw, great service, and yummy homemade desserts
Great fish and chips. Probably the best I've had. Nice selection of meat pies and Scottish fare. The restaurant usually crowded for dinner, so takeout is an option. The staff are super friendly and it's always been a great place for a quick dinner. Not open Mondays, the only down.
Feeling hungry and wishing i could go and have supper here. Visited last week and it was as always up to great standard with helpful staff. The onion rings are a must try.
Outstanding fish and chips!...the homemade pies are to die for too!
The real deal, back home fish and chips, they even sell solid cold pies for takeout like the venerable Melton Mowbray. Atmosphere is congenial with pleasant, functional staff. Food is excellent, get anything that's made there, like their tartar sauce. Lots of saucy charm, such as British magazines and a sign for the local high school students on how they should behave while there. Family friendly. Easter's is "an experience" - literally out the door lines as I discovered when I naively showed up for takeout.
Very fresh food. Honest pricing, and safe place to go to
Busiest fish and chip restaurant in the GTA for good reason!
Amazing fish and chip place. Very busy on weekends for dine in so the take out line might be a better choice on those days. Service was excellent and staff very efficient and friendly. Try the Premium Alaskan Halibut.
Good fish and chips and great British meat pies
Great authentic English fish and chip shop, excellent service!
Best fish and chips I ever Had, little hole in the wall I'd say. Lots of options, place is clean, staff is friendly, reasonable portions and price.
Classic fish and chips and really friendly waitresses
The place was freezing cold and the food mediocre. Decor outdated
It is consider one of the best fish and chips in the city....and they don't disappoint. Highly recommend this place, and their serving is just perfect. Get the homemade tartar sauce.
Good traditional fish and chips. Great prices and portions too!
Always enjoy the fish and chips. Service is good. Seating limited on Friday.
Delicious Halibut and fries. Great service
Awesome food. Nice little spot for fish and chips. Dine in is better than take out. Atmosphere and service is good
Good food with fast service. Loved our visit here.
Solid fish and chips spot in North York. Went there with a couple friends. I tried the halibut with a side of slaw, decent size portion and tasted great. The slaw was really nice too! My friends tried the haddock, they seemed to enjoy it. We also picked up some shortbread cookies on our way out, they were pretty good. I’ll definitely go back for the fish and chip, also to try their pot pies!
Great atmosphere, good service, superb fish and chip! Large portion of deliciously battered and deep fried halibut with chips (fries). Very inexpensively priced, when you consider the portion size. The fish and chips are served as soon as it is made so you receive food that isn't greasy....Fabulous!
Best fish and chips in the city. True English experience. Great selection of pies
Best fish and chip I've had in Toronto. The fish has crispy batter yet is still flakey and moist inside. The homemade tartare sauce is also divine. Only area I'd recommend for improvement is getting those fries to be deliciously crispy like the fish but they are satisfactory as is. I'd highly recommend this place to any fish and chip lover!
Best take out fish & chips I have ever had. The serving sizes were very generous, large pieces of fish that were not over battered (more fish than batter - thank you). Be sure to order the home made tar tar sauce to make this a perfect meal.
This place might be the WORST fish and chips restaurant in Toronto. I visited a few weeks ago and the fish was crumbly, over greased and tasted as though it had been sitting in the fryers for a good while before it unfortunately made its way into my takeout- don't get me started on the fries! And if the food wasn't as atrocious, the older Asian woman who identified herself as the owner was highly condescending, rude, dismissive and very unhelpful when I asked questions about the differences between the types of fish they had. I have connections with Buzzfeed and BlogTO, as well as other public forums and are highly considering writing a piece about just how awful the food and that particular owner was during my experience! The professionalism was God awful and the food nothing to brag about! I will NEVER be back at this particular food place and will ensure that everyone I know doesn't spend their hard earned money there either! Good riddance!
Great place for fish and chips in North York. Kind of hidden...
Use it for delicious fish and chips regularly. Never disappointed. Fast take-out service and prepared as ordered.
High quality fish and chips. The chocolate shortbread cookies are also ????
A good large serving of haddock. I was happy!
Excellent Melton Mowbray pork pies and the best Cornish pasties that I've had since coming to Canada
One my fav fish and chips place in the city! Super old school and the food is great!
I really enjoy this place. The servers are lovely and the food is delicious. Their pies, fries and mushy peas are my favs.
Very clean and service was and is always good. Love those meat pies.
Great old style fish and chips... Plus meat pies, other fish, etc. Lots of free parking. Out of the way but well worth the trip.
Excellent as always. The only Fish & Chips I will eat
Went here today after work as it was recommended to us . Giving this place 2 stars only for the cleanliness of the restaurant and the friendly older server that took care of us. That was THE worst fish I've ever had to be honest. How does one get a large piece of Halibut to be so dry?! It was dry and tasteless, totally overcooked. The batter is so thick [completely picked it off the entire filet, just couldn't eat it] The bread was thin and husband says it was stale, I don't normally eat bread but nibbled on a half slice, tasted bland to me and dry. Coleslaw was ok'ish....{missing that tangy flavor] Sorry guys, if you want out of this world light batter and tender flaky fish I would strongly suggest 'My Place Fish n Chips" at Victoria Park/Sheppard - in the small plaza next to Johnny's Hamburgers....You will NOT be disappointed, full of flavor!
Fish was perfectly seasoned and cooked and were delicious as were chips and onions ...like always...portion sizes were also generous. Probably the greatest Fish & Chips restaurant in all of Toronto.
This is the go to spot in the neighborhood for fish and chips! The staff is friendly and the prices are reasonable. Great portion sizes and the food tastes great!
