hmm.. hit and miss. I purchased 'sashimi grade' tuna and salmon and once it was good, the second time it was garbage. that bad that you can see the tuna meat is not even red but rather yellow.. and sticks to your throat. and this is sashimi grade? i understand each day could be better or worse but this was clear it should not be sold as sashimi grade to customers.. next time I bring it back and let them have it

Best butchers ever!! Michael and Luiz are fantastic, not only can you order just about anything as get the best quality, they offer great cooking tips for all types of meat and seafood, they also have pre prepped items if you want something quick and yummy! These two are my go to when I just don’t know what to cook for dinner, they are a wealth of knowledge and wonderful butchers as well. Prices are competitive and quality is great!

Sorry to write this one but people need to know. The staff here are top shelf. Being a small shop it seems they often sale product that is borderline ready to turn bad. I was in the hospital for 2 nights after eating the almond crusted sole. It was the only thing I ate and so no question the source. I've also purchased steaks that were aged a little too long. The staff is a good and knowledgeable team, it's a pity I've been caught twice. I want to trust this store but I can't.

No one will ever fault you for consistency. Unfortunately, it's the fact that you constantly up-sell me on everything that is so annoying that today was my last time shopping at your store. Your staff is becoming less friendly and the over the top pushy sales tactics make me feel like I'm in future shop 10 years ago or on a used car lot. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure it works and helps sales, but it alienates other customers like me.

For some reason, people rate expensive places with high ratings just to feel justified for overpaying for subpar food. This bone IN chicken breast that I bought for $6 had a dime sized chunk of cheese on it, an inch of bacon, and a sprinkling of greens. I may as well of just cooked a few chunks of chicken from the supermarket for a third of the price.

We preordered a very specific turkey two weeks before christmas. The day of pickup, I was given something completely different and was told they dont have any full turkeys, which is what we pre ordered. A lot of people buy turkeys for christmas and they run out, which is understandable. What is not understandable is that the preordering was not respected, even after we had to pay a $20 deposit 0/10, worse than cyberpunk release We preordered the JD farms 14 pound turkey They gave us 7 lb of rolled turkey breast combo for $67.77

Great selection, not only of fresh barbequeables but also lots of frozen products from local high quality suppliers. Excelllent place for quick meals and ideas for picky kids. Exceptional service, and generally I find the prices to be below average for a local butcher shop.

DO NOT SHOP HERE! Just got my turkey and when I took off the wrapper clearly marked 'Grade A' it was missing one wing and the other wing tip. It was around 2 PM on December 24th so I had to throw everything in a bag and return to exchange it. No apology for the inconvenience. All he said was relax we'll get you another one. Didn't care that my dinner would be delayed by an hour or that I had to lug it back to their forsaken shack. Anyway they brought out a different brand because they said we could see all the parts were there. That should have tipped me off. They probably get lots of complaints trying to flog utility grade birds at a premium grade A price. Anyway I asked for the same brand which they finally gave me. I got home and you guessed it. It was also missing a wing. I will never shop there again. P.S. - I didn't take the second bird back because my dinner would have been two or three hours late. If you shop here I suspect this will happen to you. When they spoiled your Christmas dinner, they'll tell you to relax. DO NOT SHOP HERE!

I regularly shop at Lynn Valley Center and have often made purchases at Westlynn Meats. I have always found the customer service to be prompt and helpful. However, this past trip I went in to purchase some items to make a special dinner. I chose what looked like a couple of very nice Ribeye steaks, two lobster tails and some shrimp. In total $70. I have never had any issues with the seafood I have purchased, always fresh. The steaks however, were a HUGE disappointment. We carefully grilled them on a charcoal Weber (in the snow) to medium rare. Imagine our disappointment when we went to enjoy them and found them gristle-ridden and chewy. I may have well bought cheap steaks at Save-on next door. Won't be making my meat purchases here anymore.

I have lived on the North Shore for over 18 years and was a regular customer at Westlynn Meats and Seafood as I do most of my shopping at Lynn Valley mall. I regularly purchase both meat and seafood with Dungeness crab in particular being my favourite along with my Dads. I often purchase at least a pound of fresh crab meat at a time as I give him some for special occasions like birthdays and Christmas and cook with it often. It's not an inexpensive product so when you're paying over $50/pound, you would expect it to be fresh. In the past we've had great service from the man I believe to be the owner but in contrast have received HORRIBLE customer service from another gentleman. We've never had issues until this past year and bought a pound once on a Saturday to give to my dad on Sunday. I preorder it to ensure it's in stock being assured it's delivered almost daily. We took it home and stored it properly as fresh crab MUST breathe in order to stay fresh. We cook and eat if fresh at least once a month but buy it for my dad. By morning the next day, our entire fridge smelt like rotten crab so we called and the owner took our call and refunded our money vs replaced it as the crab in stock wasn't terribly fresh but they handled it very well. Because of this, we thought it was a one off and gave it another shot a month or so later to only find the same situation. I specifically called in advance to confirm it was coming in that day and to reserve a pound and they assured me it was fresh not flash frozen as sometimes has to happen. I took it home the day prior again and the next day same issue plus this crab started quite salty and watery which told me it was likely frozen. We call the store to ask about it and they then tell us yes we haven't had any fresh crab delivered since Tuesday so this has been frozen and may not be as great a product as it is normally is but they've had "no complaints and been told how fresh it tastes". I say it's a gift so just not comfortable giving that to someone and they say begrudgingly "fine bring it back in for a refund". We bring it in to return and they neither apologize nor say anything just take it back, give us our money and ignore us. We were shocked! I hadn't been back since and this was over a month ago but today decided to go back to buy some hand peeled shrimp. The same rude gentleman who treated us so horribly was on the other side of the store and before I've even ordered yells across the store "Don't sell her the crab!" rudely so customers could hear. I literally was speechless and the gentleman serving me said "I'm not it's hand peeled shrimp" and he said "oh". As if to deny me service if I wanted to give them a chance again it after two fails. I will NEVER shop here again as I have no idea how you can continue business without first taking great pride in your product and listening to your regular customers and second treating people this way. I've worked in customer service for my entire career going on 20 years now and this is not how you treat customers and I will be sure to tell all my friends on the North shore about this experience.

We have been coming here for years and you couldn't meet two nicer guys in Louis and Mike. Ignore the negativity...sounds like some people get a bit stressed out. Prior to this year, we have always ordered our fresh Christmas turkeys from Costco and the turkeys have been very moist and tender. This year in early December, when Costco couldn't give us assurance that they would have sufficient stock of fresh birds, we decided to place an order with Westlynn Meats. We picked the fresh 13# bird supplied by JD Farms up on Dec. 22 and cooked it Xmas day. We noticed right away in unwrapping the turkey that part of one wing, my wife's favourite part, was missing. To us this suggested this was a utility bird, not the grade A bird we had paid a very high price for. We cooked the stuffed bird at 350 for about 4 hours until it was nicely browned, to an internal temperature of about 170, and let it stand for 1/2 hour. Using my regular carving knife which I always sharpen prior to carving, the meat in the breast was very difficult to cut evenly coming off in strings, not nice carved slices. The meat was tough and the breast meat had a greyish appearance. It was a most disappointing experience.

Westlynn Meats, Lynn Valley Mall is absolutely a wonderful place, when other stores couldn’t get Salmon Style Bacon for me, they did. It is so good, you have to try Salmon Bacon if you love seafood options. This was quite the process but Mike didn’t give up until he found a way to keep this for me from the supplier On a regular basis . We have never been treated with anything but respect so we can only speak to how well we love the service here. Hope this is helpful. Thank you.
