Yeh Fine
Crisp fish that is prepared on the spot and delicious chips. This was a delicious meal. The deal for two is economical ($24 for 2 cod, fries, coleslaw and two drinks). We scored a seat with a view of Vancouver and this made an awesome lunch! This is inside the Lonsdale Quay Market..near the back.
I’ve tried Fish and Chips in many recommended venues. And lived in England, the home of fish and chips, for more years than I care to admit to. And this tiny little hole in the wall in North Vancouver produces as fine a plate of this down market delicacy that you’d find anywhere.
Good fish and chips
Hands down the best... there is no competition to Montys!
Delicious halibut fillets and cole slaw, and a generous portion of chips. The patio outside on the pier overlook was pretty nice too!
Great fish and chips. Hot and crispy, with good batter to fish amounts. Personally, I like lots of tartar sauce, so I recommend asking for a second sauce. The fries are fresh cut and they have plenty of vinegar for you to add, if that's your thing. Well priced, and will return for more. Highly recommended to get this and go eat at the waterfront or inside the brewery with a beer!
Just came into the area after a 6 hr flight and needed some hot food. Saw the good reviews online and decided to give it a shot. Had the 1 piece fish (snapper) and chips. Portion was generous. Fish was super fresh and tasty. Chips were crispy and equally delicious. Lady behind the counter is super friendly.
Great fish and chips, but the prawns are the best! Excellent service.
Great halibut - perfect amount of batter and friendly people. Prices are great, too!
I had the pleasure of having lunch here recently. I’m from Alberta, so I figured fish and chips in BC would probably be better than what we get at home. I asked for a recommendation and then suggested fish nuggets and chips. I would say that this is the best fish and chips I’ve had in a very long time! The fish was fresh, not over battered and it was cooked perfectly. The fries were also delicious. The kitchen behind the counter appeared clean and organized and the cook and woman behind the counter were super friendly. I will make a point of going to the Lonsdale Quay when I’m in BC just so that I can eat there again!
Montgomerys is the best! I get the Cod and Chips most times UNLESS they have there prawn special which sometimes I splurge for. It is part of my weekly routine at Lonsdale Quay.
Best fish and chips around
I haven't gone here recently, but from the time I did from 2009~2019, they gave me the pinnacle of fish and chips + prawns. It could make you cry on the right day
Prices has gone up but still the same great taste.????????????????
This place used to be outstanding! But it seems they have new owners who have not followed the greatness of their predecessors. Way too much batter, overly greasy and you can tell the fish isn’t stored properly before cooking. I had an upset stomach all night the last time I visited and I won’t be back. Why does this always happen? New ownership takes over, they try to save a buck here and a buck there and a good thing gets ruined.
The staff were quite friendly and the poutine was delicious! Not to mention that it was super inexpensive! The workers also seem to have a really good team dynamic. However, the people cooking and handling the food weren't wearing gloves or masks. Despite that, it was very good and I will definitely be returning!
Since the change in management, the food is not the same. But overall, price and service are Excellent
One of my go-to spots to grab some food. good location, clean, and great customer service. I highly recommend them!
A bit pricey, but very good. The fish was lightly battered, the batter was tasty, and the portion sizes were very generous. The chips (fries) were alright; for my personal taste, I would have preferred they be a little bit crunchier. The mashed peas were an excellent side dish and I was glad to see their inclusion on the menu. Overall, I deducted the one star I did for the higher price and chips that weren't quite up to the standard of the rest of the delicious meal.
Really good fish and chips. Fish was absolutely fresh, chips were crispy until the last bite. Combo and specials are priced fairly. I went for the snapper and the batter was perfect, fish flaky and clean tasting. Great views of the city from Lonsdale Quay.
The man serving usually (perhaps the owner?) doesn’t seem too friendly haha but the food is great!! The halibut is definitely the best option—worth the price. The fries are so good. The Tartar is probably the best we’ve ever had.
great place to eat fish and chips and they seem to live up to the name :)
Yum, pricey, grease.
The guy working here gave me awful customer service. I went up to him and said “can I ask you a question” and he acted like it was the worst thing to ever happen to him. Also this place doesn’t do Gluten Free- don’t bother asking because they will look at you like your nuts.
Delicious fish n chips with a fantastic view! Owners and staff and very friendly and serve great portions. Highly recommend.
Great Cod & Chips! They also had mushy peas, prawns, poutine and a lot more. Give them a try next time you are in North Vancouver. Close to the Aqua Bus.
Ordered the Halibut nuggets and upgraded the meal with some poutine. Very friendly service, waited less than 5 minutes. The fish batter was perfectly crisp with the fish perfectly cooked. Poutine was also amazing :) Loved it
Fresh and delicious
Worst fish & chips i ever had.
I ordered the prawn and chips and was delighted. The 6 prawns were plump and perfectly cooked, with a light batter. The chips were excellent. Highly recommended.
The halibut fish was Just Ok but not good quality chips. i was very disappointed because the main part of fish and chips is delicious french fries
I really like the chips(fries) here! The fish and chips are amazing but I wish they gave more tartar sauce. Everything was fried to a perfect crisp and the service wasn't too bad. A lil bit of a wait because they are very busy most of the time.
Always delicious food. They are fast and kind with the costumers. The fish is always fresh and tasty!
Best Halibut fish and chips around.
Fish ok, chips a bit limp but the biggest reason for the single star is service. The man at the front seems entirely unable to pay attention to the customers directly in front of him making orders ...I had to repeat my order 3 time and get his attention first each time as he would talk to others in the crowd or his staff in the back. Each time forgetting my (one item) order. There are lots of other places in around... My recommendation is to try the others.
Great fish and chips. Big menu and many combinations to choose from.
Great fish and chips
Best fish and chip ever! All items in the plate are delicious <3 Their oyster sandwich is also a good option. Bread is crispy and the oysters are fresh and yummy. I will definitely revisit here for food and its fresh fish!
Huge portions and cooked perfectly! Loved the fish and chips
The halibut was very good. Probably one of the best fish n chips I have had in my life,, and met me tell you I have had lots. Delicious food.
Friendly service and good fish and chips. Same name as my school! Funny.
Perfect place for good fish and chips... The 2 piece halibut is a nice size and the fries are perfect. Not too much batter which is a nice change.
The best fish and chips I ever had! Just gotta watch out seagull!
It's located in a Lonsdale Quay market which is a great location. You have stunning view seating there. The halibut and tartar sauce was fairly good however the fries was smelly. It seemed they fried them in the oil which was already used to fry fish. But overall it's not bad
Nice flakey fish at a decent price.
Best fish and chips I've found around Vancouver
Initially thought this was really expensive but compared to the amount of food you get its actually a good value, just be sure to bring your appetite. Really great flavour.
(Translated) It was crispy on the outside and soft and soft inside, so it was delicious. Even if it is a little expensive, please enjoy it with Halibut. More than I thought. (Original) 겉은 바삭하고 안은 촉촉하고 부드러워서 맛있게 잘 먹었음. 조금 비싸도 Halibut으로 드세요. 생각보다 양이 많습니다.
New owner's ... bad food. I'm very sorry to say, after 14 years eating here, a wee won't be back. Horrible batter, rubbery fish, weird tasting prawns, at least the chips were ok.
Fish and chips were awesome
The fish (halibut) is deliciously prepared, but the chips are nothing special, and the tartar sauce is just too little in amount. You are allowed to take your plate to the nearby brewery (inside the market) and enjoy it with local beer.
Way overpriced and way underwhelming. Why can't anyone in Vancouver make good fish and chips? It ain't nuclear fusion. When the gold standard is Pajo's, you're really in trouble.
What a wonderful store. Im not sure if the owner is the bloke behind then but im sure that if he doesnt he'd be proud of the service we recieved. The portions were large. A well spent $10. The fish was coated in a thin batter which was crispy and not too oily. The fries, again were perfectly cooked. It was probably the best fish and chips I have eaten since being to England!
This fish and chips is overwhelmingly greasy, you can’t really enjoy it. The pieces look giant but it’s all greasy batter, not worth the money. It’s really expensive at $20 for 2 pieces. Go to Sealovers instead, super tasty, batter is not greasy and you get to eat loads of yummy fish.
Good service and food.
Food and service was amazing clam strips are the best I've ever had. Amazing amazing amazing
The very best fish and chips I have had in 25 years. Really. Perfect chips Perfect batter - crispyand moist delicious cod.
Very tasty and fresh. Very friendly
Excellent fish, nice light and crispy batter. One of the best fish and chips on the North Shore!
This ratings could be all from the owner. Possibly the worst fish and chips place I've ever been to.
Best fish n chips.
Great fish and chips right in the market. Pricey, but fair considering the quality of the fish. We got take out and they had it packed up with all the extras and tons of cutlery/napkins which I was really appreciated.
Not bad. Portion size for the halibut was great, no complaints there. Wasn’t over-battered like other places so I was really happy with that. Service was nice. Fish was a tad bit dry but still tasty. Fries…. I’m not sure I enjoyed it as much. They weren’t anything special, tasted like regular pub fries. Would I come back? Yeah, sure.
My partner and I came here; the food was incredible, the gentlemen who served us was fantastic and accommodating... I cant wait for us to go back! Highly recommended!
Been wanting to try this place, glad I did today. Very good cod and chips.
Tourist trap, I ordered the halibut fish and chips for $13, the fish was 1cm thick and batter was slightly chewy. They charge extra if you want more than the 2 tsp of store bought tartar that comes with the meal. Don't waste your money.
Had the halibut and prawns, it was delicious.
Me and gf went to this place for fish and chips because the reviews were mainly decent. We ordered 2 halibut fish and chips. The fries were very good and crispy. However, halibut fish was not fresh and after around 2 hours our stomach began to get upset and its still upset this morning. Never again will we visit this place again. Better to visit somewhere they serve fresh cod and halibut. Be aware of this place.
The food was very disappointing. Ordered 2 halibut and chips the halibut was cut thin which is fine but it was so overcooked that it was like jerky. The reviews were good so I took a chance, will not listen to those again.
Fish n chips wrapped in paper to go, authentic style and good taste.
Love their cod fish and chips and some cheese fries! Don't miss out this stall at Lonsdale Quay
Great fish and chips always fresh
We have been coming here monthly for years. New owners and until today still good. Fish & chips today were horrible. Greasy cold chips, undercooked cod dripping in grease. Gross. Management didn't seem to care. Won't be back.
Good food friendly service. Cod was excellent
(Translated) Much more delicious than I thought! haha (Original) 생각했던 것보다 훨씬 맛있음! ㅎㅎ
The food is average- but the service sure stinks! Every time I've been here the staff have always been rude and surly- how about some customer service and some above average fish and chips! The food is also over priced- especially for the quality. Overall a terrible experience.
Was very greasy I ordered one piece halibut was very salty was sick afterwards
Good food,
I've had fish and chips from around the world, and I also eaten at most fish and chips places in metro Vancouver, and I have to say Montgomery Fish and Chips is Da Best!
Very nice fish and chips here, but holy moly, their prawns are by far the best prawns I tasted out there
