Boat-a-palooza! Awesome spot for a concert on the lake, a beer over the lake front deck, or a nice dinner with a full view of Trout Lake from water's edge.

Robert Redmond

Drove by his place a few times on my trip. Was recommended to me by a client. Food was fantastic as was the server. Ordered the 2 piece fish and chips. Probably the best I have ever had. Also order the sticky toffee cake which was great. Nice views of the water. Worth checking out.

We come to North Bay every year for the Summer In The Park festival and would normally eat at the rib and chicken vendor on site. However, they haven't been there the past two years. So we found Average Joe's as an alternative this year. The food... AMAZING! Prices are reasonable, the view on the water is terrific. The decor and atmosphere adds to a great experience, as does the service. We had the Escargots to start, Double Ribs, and 3 lbs of Chicken Wings for my wife, daughter and I and will be tonight's supper as well with all the leftovers. We sat inside, though the patio looked equally inviting. Had the carrot cake with Grand Mariner on top as dessert. Delicious! Definitely will be back.

This was my first time going to Average Joe's, I attended a baby shower for which a small section of the restaurant had been rented out. The food was great and they did a lovely job of catering the event. The restaurant overlooks trout lake, in the summer time I believe it would be a lovely place to overlook the water and enjoy a meal.

Rebecca Feddema

Perfect spot for brunch, with amazing mimosas and so many delicious menu options. The staff is so friendly and professional (and they were able to handle our rowdy party of 8 with no problem). The view over the water is breath taking, even on rainy/misty days, and the restaurant is so clean and cozy inside! Portions are just right, filling, but not too much, and the fruit they brought to the table was such a wonderful extra touch!

Jared Grant

Beautiful outside Patio overlooking Trout Lake... Great service and good food!! Will definitely be going back!!

Aquarianstar Freebeing

Food was absolutely delicious and the service was amazing! Prime Rib dinner and Steak Salad.

Deb Dey

You must try breakfast at this restaurant if you are around this area. Quaint nice little joint on the lake with beautiful views, great arrangements, friendly staff and yummy food. Prices are pretty reasonable too.

We went to Average Joe's to celebrate our 56 anniversary we had to 6:30 reservation and were seated on the patio at about 6:40 the fish and chips that we ordered The Fish was beer-battered haddock my wife fish was not completely cooked and the manager gave us a complete new dinner to go which we had the next night the fish and chips we're reasonably priced at $17 per plate which was very reasonable the patio was very busy but it was nice to look out over Trout Lake all in all it was very enjoyable

Pat Drew

Atmosphere and scenery were good, food was just "ok"...not quite worth what was charged...had the stuffed chicken Supreme (which has cream cheese and ham inside) - mine had only one dime sized piece of ham inside of it...lots of cheese. Chicken was a bit dry (overcooked). Mashed potatoes and sauce were good though. parking is freakishly weird...watch out.

Amanda Zintel

Food was great. Waitress brought the food then did not come back to the table until we were ready to pay. Did not ask us if we needed a drink. There was only 3 tables of people in restaurant. Would it go back. Very sad as it has a beautiful view. Service for me is everything.

Pat Duffy

Wow! It was our first trip to Average Joe's and we loved it. The restaurant was clean and beautiful. We were given the option of inside or patio seating and we chose the inside. We were seated by the window overlooking the lake and boats. I thought the scenery was awesome. Our waitress was charming, knowledgeable about the menu and friendly. The food was tasty and beautifully presented. We had the Thia shrimp, garden salad with chicken and New York cheesecake. We had a wonderful time. Would love to go back .. the sooner the better.

Jarrett Blackburn

The good: the staff are on point. Clear, well pronounced and knowledgeable about the menu. Overall the experience was good. The food would have been better rated had the price been on average $5 less per plate. After what I had heard of the place the the reviews I was going in with really high hopes of good seafood. The setting was quite nice on the main floor but the washrooms are not what you would expect. Strange that I would bring that up but it goes along with the rest of of the experience. The food could have been amazing but the salmon was frozen or had been cooked for a long time and was warmed up. The bacon sauce on the muscles was amazing though but the muscles seemed overcooked maybe or reheated too often? The shrimp was average and the buttered vegetables seemed to be the highlight of the meal. If I didn't know any better based on the audience present in the restaurant I would imagine that this place used to be really good but the only people who may have tasted the foods Glory days are the elderly folk who keep coming back. Another thing I got to try was the Alfredo and I could be wrong but I don't think I had Alfredo... Seemed overly thick and lacked that cheese flavor but maybe it too was frozen, thawed and then thicked with cornstarch or flour? Suggestions for this place would be the following With Orchards right down the road I don't understand why not use better ingredients? Maybe find out where they are sourcing there food and buy from there as well? Most fish is good for 5 days chilled if sourced fresh. Salmon does not take long at all to cook and nor do muscles. At least they don't if they are not frozen. Note: I hope the pickerel in the summer is fresh from lake Nipissing. Final thoughts: Frozen savoury foods can almost always be spotted as fats from the dish will leak out when cooked again making the ingredient or dish dry and or gritty. Staff are great and presentation was very good.

Great view, great food, quick service.

Ashley Fricker

Delicious lunch specials. Well priced. Great hospitality. Can't beat the view. The only thing average about this place is name! Thank you!

Lev Talis

Good food. Great service. Best view in North Bay.

S Skublics

Lots of gluten free options for dinner including a Glutenberg beer. Very tasty potato crusted pickerel with risotto and grilled veg. Right on the water with great views.

Great food and friendly staff. The covered patio is also good for these rainy days.

Dave Drenth

Use to be a great experience every time till now. We made an order of food. I also asked for no croutons on my salad and we ordered calamari for a starter. First we were served someone else's food, then after that was fixed we got our calamari. We still didn't have any utensils to eat with and the calamari was well overcooked and tasted like hardened caulking. After we finally had utensils and a long wait for food, my salad still had croutons in it. I sure hope my faith in this place be redeemed next time we come or it may be the last time.

Claude Roy

Excellent service, our server was great, food was good, setting was great Will be back!

Debbey Bentley

Had the Cobb and greek salad. Pickerel, escargot, and mushroom soup. Mushroom soup was pureed with heavy spices that hid the mushroom flavour. They forgot the escargot that when it did come was gritty. The pickerel was severley overdone. Salads were cheap mix with stones in the olives no tomatoes and vinegary dressing. Never said anything as it was a birthday dinner. Won't be back

Menu wasn't personally appealing but food is good, good drinks

Unfortunately had a bad experience in this lovely restaurant. The good: The location was great by the water and we were seated quickly. The bad: The coleslaw was horrible. Nobody at the table finished it. I told the waitress of a serious allergy but she didn't remember when it came time to my meal since I was sick about 10min after leaving the restaurant. Maybe it was the coleslaw? I wouldn't recommend this place.

Lyne Hince

Had the Pickerel entree and mussels app, food was excellent. Scenic view of Trout Lake is visible throughout the entire restaurant. Awesome patio. Servers were really friendly. Looking forward to going back again! ????

Lynne St. Denis

Great atmosphere and a beautiful view. All staff were pleasant. I highly recommend their beer batter fish and chips.

Tim F

North Bay's best patio view! Enjoy an elegant meal with stunning views of Trout Lake. Time your evening for live music for the best experience. Parking can be limited when busy, carpooling will help with that. If you have a boat, consider their dock parking option. They also deliver by jet ski! Prices are out of reach and general consensus is they are priced too high for the flavour of the food.

Khurram Mohammed

Best tasting pizza in town, fresh ingredients, delish and awesome appeal. All of this at reasonably prices, better quality and value for money when compared to fast food joints. Would dine here any day.....

Ian M

Great service even when busy and post Covid crazy! Food is consistently very good.

Heather

The best appetizer... 3 cheese Crab dip ... never liked crab but in their recipe ..... oh yumm Club House ..... excellent. Real chicken breast used in sandwich. Loved it. Apple-Walnut Salad ..... to die for. Was delicious Highly recommend the restaurant ????????????

The Basic Painter

The food was excellent. Staff was great.

Service was good, food was fresh! We tried the crab grilled cheese and the tofu bacon wrap. Both were really tasty. View Of the lake was great!

Pierre Tellier

Great menu selection, prices were decent and the location right on the water is a beautiful view. They also have a nice patio. Parking is available and they are following Covid-19 protocol.

Where my boyfriend and I go for dinner dates and birthdays :) fantastic food, cosy dining hall and great view year round! Their specials are also great

Canadian Person

FOOD WAS AWESOME, the steak was as good as the keg. service was great.

My girlfriend took me for dinner last night for my 26th birthday. My girlfriend had never been there before I have and always have had a really great experience. Megan was our waitress very pretty gentle and sweet young lady she did very well also went beyond and added a complimentary desert of deep fried ice cream for the two of us loved our experience as well as my girlfriend. We will be returning for sure in the near future the atmosphere and the presence is fantastic for a romantic get away for two.

Tana Greer

Food was great but the price was pretty high and wasn't always filling besides that love the restaurant felt like a 5 star meal also amazing view off the balcony rain or shine

Natasha Gagne

Service was great, and food was spot on. We had a great dinner on the patio.

Donna Brown

Excellent meal....first time eating here...the name threw me off...thought it was going to be a pub style restaurant but it is very much fine dining... excellent service... presentation of food was exceptional and enjoyed every bite..I had the seared salmon with cauliflower and sauteed mushrooms and leeks..it was delicious..will definitely recommend this restaurant to friends

Nicholas Gauthier

Zero was not an option. We went without reservations and they were booked, we understood that and decided to order curb side pick up. The app said it would take an hour and we thought that was a bit long but the food is so good we figured we’d order and it would be worth it. When I arrived after an hour I was told by the “manager” our food was almost ready. 2.5 hours after we ordered and an 1.5 hours after being told it was almost ready we finally got the food. This is absurd. We loved this place until this happened and am totally turned off. You’ve lost a customer and I will share my experience.

jacque ranger

went to joes on thurs and spent a good amount, food was good and servers were good also, went this sunday for thanksgiving meal and was told my exemption wasn't good enough they needed info dating back to the 80s which i can't get, my wife needs hers from australia from the 90s and they must be specific, she was told this by northbay health unit yet the college of physicians and surgeons don't say that, but we saved money and found another place who accepted our papers and the food was just as good for less

Brandon Das

Loved the Brunch. Amazing view of Trout Lake and a great patio

Therese Jubran

Food was as the name says - Average. I've gone a couple times, and both times the service was good but the food was subpar. The first time I went I had the fish and chips, typical fried food, nothing special. I recently went again, I had the burger. The bun was stale and the burger was over cooked. Not the worst I've ever had but definitely better options in town. I have yet to try any of the pasta dishes or other meal offered, I've heard they were good tho.

Sam Harvey

Love going to this restaurant. The menu is varied enough to appeal to fussy eaters and vegetarians alike. We were seated by the windows and enjoyed the view of Trout Lake. The meal would have been totally enjoyed were it not for a very large group of noisy people. THe service was great. There were leftovers to take home. Parking is a challenge and a hazard in some spots ar this restaurant as it sits on the shore of the lake beside a very busy road.

Kelly Merriman

Beautiful deck overlooking water, great services and the food was amazing.

Cathy Ranger

Delicious vegetable risotto with shrimp added to it. My husband said his steak was very good as well. The only issue was the food was warm but not hot.

Laurie Verwey

Terrible experience. Escargot had so much marble cheese that the escargot was invisible. Crab asiago dip was wet like soup, nacho chips were thick and bubbly and greasy. We sent a burger back because the meat was like a brick. The calamari had a nasty batter on it and it was so dry. The calamari used to be my favourite thing to order from there but it was gross with that batter. Out of seven of us, one person had a lovely steak dinner. Needless to say though we won't be going back there again

Emily Breault

We had excellent service from start to finish! Jamie was our server and I'd request his section again!! Food was fresh and hot when it got to the table. Bruschetta, cream of mushroom soup and chicken club with fries were all sampled and a 10/10 ! Paired with a glass of house wine

Geneviève Blanchet-Frost

It was SO nice to finally enjoy a meal in a restaurant, surrounded by locals enjoying a beautiful day. You really can't ask for a better view as the patio overlooks the lake. I appreciated the fully covered patio as I burn too easily to be out in the sun. The food was great, I had the battered pickerel which was gluten-free (potato crusted), also very much appreciated. My husband had a very tasty burger. Felt awesome to support a local small business. We will be back often!

Linda Gould

Great view from the patio and the food was really good too

mochaguy 22

We were here for dinner with friends about a week ago. The weather was beautiful that evening, so we sat on the patio. The service was amazing, as was the food. There were lots of different items on the menu. I thought the prices were quite reasonable, and the portions were plenty big enough. I had been here before, but not for a long time. It's one of North Bay's hidden gems, as it is a bit out of the way, but it well worth the trip!

Tammy McBride

The owner of the restaurant was helpful in recommending a meal. The staff were all very courteous and attentive and careful to adhere to pandemic protocol. I had the pickerel which was fantastic!

Hamish Nicol

We called to make a reservation on July 5th for lunch. When we arrived, the waitresses told us to sit at any table - none of the tables were clean, but we sat at one anyway. We received no menu and our family was completely ignored for the first 30 minutes we were there. We finally got one of the waitresses attention and asked if we could at least see a menu or order a drink , the waitress looked at us with complete disgust and completely ignored our request. We left 10 minutes later and didn’t even receive an apology. The waitresses on duty were completely disrespectful and were obviously not well trained, as the place wasn’t even busy (4 other tables). Will never return.

Terri Grasser Smith

The food was excellent, the service was good. The path to get to the room left much to be desired...chopped up, bumpy pavement path with holes, crumbling sides and rocks....Wait...I forgot to mention the leaking eavestrough that dripped on us as we tried to go around the large unavoidable puddle.... Needs serious work before someone hurts themselves or falls in the lake

Peter McKenny

Good food but I found it rather pricey

Alen Abraham

The food was okay. Service could be better. The view is great!

Sue Campbell

Love the location, waitress was exceptional especially since we were there for a party but many of us had the hamburger and it was overcooked, burnt bun and the fries were nothing to write home about. My husband had the fish and chips and one piece of fish wasn't cooked and it was greasy and there was too much batter. Really need a better cook as the restaurant is very nice.

Harold Sanders

My boyfriend and I went for a date night. I understand there was a wedding or some kind of other event going on in the building as our waitress told us the kitchen was struggling after I asked for our food to just be placed in to go boxes. We waited half an hour to order our food as the waitress kept leaving after giving us our drinks and bread and saying she would be back in a bit (we were like no, please lol! We are ready!). Food then took a full hour to get to the table, and only appeared after I asked for the to go boxes. I wish more servers or staff were on hand if you knew it would be a busy night. We were so looking forward to this night and I gave two stars because the food was actually quite good.... But we arrived at 7 and left at 8:30 and we had to get up to find our waitress for the bill as we were just over it...

Omer Wahaj

Very nice atmosphere. The view is fantastic. Had a sampler appetizer platter. Great stuffed won tons and potato skins. Creamy dip with the won ton nachos. Fresh green salad with raspberry vinaigrette. Prime rib done to perfection juicy and tender with tasty mash and fresh veggies. Finished off with a chocolate mousse cheesecake. Great service, great food. Will be back!

William Munny

Placed an order Sunday at 6:15 for delivery. We thought we were getting dockside service. After an hour I called back and was advised that they were waiting for the delivery person. The food showed up at 8:15 via car delivery service. Needless to say the food was cold and soggy. I would have gone and picked it up myself by boat or car (the delivery charge was approximately $30.00) had I been advised they only do dockside service on Fridays and Saturdays. I called and spoke with the manager, female (she did not identify herself). The discussion resulted in very poor customer service and I would not order from them again. No concession was offered. Overall a terrible experience. One star was generous, I would not have given any but that was not possible.

Geoff Richardson

We just took delivery of our food via 'seadoo dock to dock delivery'' from Average Joe's on Trout Lake and really enjoyed our meal! Great food, fair pricing, and delivered right to our dock. Hard to beat on a summer day! Thanks Average Joe's!

Cathy Cholewinsky

Wonderful Service food out if this works yummy ????

Skyler St George

I dinned here for dinner yesterday with party of four. The server was polite but didn’t introduce herself, ask if we had been here before or inform us of the specials until we asked, and seemed rushed. There wasn’t many people in the restaurant around this time, at 4:15pm. We ordered drinks and two appetizers and our mains. The drinks arrived quickly, but the appetizers took over an hour to be served. A table of two behind us who had arrived 30mins after we did received their main meal before we had even received our appetizers, which were underwhelming. I definitely would not recommend the carb cakes, which tasted bland and predominantly akin to potato starch with a strong fishy odour. The mains were quite tasty, albeit a little under seasoned IPO, but had a nice presentation and were hot with fair portion sizes. I’d rate the service and appetizers 2 for this visit and the mains a 4/5. Will likely return because the atmosphere is stunning.

Selina Sterling

Food is delicious. Staff is awesome. View of Lake is great. A bit pricy but overall a great place.

Cory Emerson

We are here last night as a group. Two of us ordered pickerel. My boyfriend ended up switching me plates because my fish was old as it tasted very fishy. That’s what happens when it isn’t fresh. His tasted fine. Very disappointing that the cooks think they can serve food like this. Would never order the pickerel again.

Trevor Girodat

Very disappointing, food is below average. Although staff is friendly, service is very slow despite the restaurant being mostly empty. The tortilla chips with the goat cheese dip were overcooked. Chicken was dry and bland. Ribs were not as bad but barely okay. Fried fish had more batter than fish and tasted bland. Not worth the wait. Cannot recommend.

Mandy Cadorin

We had brunch at Average Joe's today and the food and service was great! Our server Mckenna was AMAZING. She was accommodating, knowledgeable and went above and beyond to make sure we had an enjoyable birthday brunch. Thanks again!

S. “Linear” R.

Some of the best food of my life. The crab Mac and cheese and gnocchi were amazing. The food and the view were outstanding and the prices cannot be beat.

Horrible customer service, horrible waitresses. The view is OK, but definitely not worth the tasteless food and rude customer service.

luc robert

Paid 160 dollars for family 2 fish n chips potato crisp pickerel a poutine and a steak dinner well fish was awful no way that was pickerel way to fishy tasting Worst fish I had anywhere and I know my pickerel. Daughters poutine had a terrible tasting spice in the gravy she barely ate my diet coke tasted 3/4 water my son has autism he eats anything and enjoyed his steak I should of just hit dairy Queen instead of the poor excuse of a banana split I did enjoy the view this was the worst meal I ate in my life the meal was 140 I still gave a 15 percent tip cause it's not the waitress but terrible chefs fault it came up to 160 We was all excited saw a couple raving about it on you tube they have no idea what good food is

Ramona Ryan

3.5 actually. Normally I really enjoy my dinner...however tonight the crab cakes arrived cool and didn't have that cooked feeling; the sweet potato and quinoa burger arrived in the same manner-although I was warned of the hot plate- and for the side I chose (a twice baked potato) I received a half potato. If I had chosen fries, the plate would be filled. Tasty carrot cake for desert, of which I had two bites before the receipt was placed on my table. I then deliberately took my time. Don't get me wrong- the waitresses were very polite and helpful....except for that. Yes- I will go back. I enjoy it there, even listening to transport trucks barrel past while dining on the patio. At least I could enjoy the rainy lake.

Stephanie O'hare

Had lunch there today and it was just ok. The food was good, I had the Trout Lake Chicken Club and my wife the Goat Cheese salad. The sole reason for the 2 star review is the service. I hate ordering an appetizer and getting it with the meal and that is exactly what happened. Instead of warm bruschetta it was cold. It is not the end of the world but if you are going to spend the money you work for there needs to be a certain level enjoyment in that experience. The waitress blamed the kitchen and then disappeared for the rest of the meal. We asked for the bill and said we would need a machine to pay by credit. She brought out the machine for other customers but then ignored us. We eventually got tired of waiting and being ignored went back to the kitchen to find a manager so we could pay. He was apologetic but I doubt we will return.

Lance Kroes

Last night my wife and I went here for dinner. I was greatly disappointed by what we got. We both got the Supreme chicken. I got the double baked potato and she git a poutine with it. For $27 I wasn't expecting a half a baked potato, for the seasonal veg we got celery with one little piece of cauliflower and some red cabbage. I complained about it, and all the manager said was thats what our chef choice as a veg. Sorry but celery is not a veg for a side dish. My wife's poutine was cold the gravy wasn't even hot, I know this because the cheese wasn't even melted. So my wife and i pretty much just ate the chicken cause we where hungry and need something to eat. So when the bill came they didn't take anything off. So I won't be coming back anytime soon. Poor service and management.

Seth Tiamat

This is a great spot to go for lunch or supper off our boat. the parking is a bit tricky otherwise

Grampy & GramAli

Great patio, a friend wanted to stop here to see a old friend. Great view of the water, reasonable prices, patio is a little noisy being beside a busy road. Clean bathrooms , friendly staff.
