We visited the store for the first time yesterday as we were in the area rescuing a fish. This is one of the best franchise stores we have been too. The staff were very helpful and polite. The assistant Veronika was very polite and helpful, she was unsure about a cpl of things in relation to the fish we wanted so she checked with her boss, which is always a good thing. Rather than her guessing or giving us the wrong info. This goes a long way with me in customer service. Her boss Andrew was very knowledgable and we had a nice chat with him about different species of fish. Yes some of their fish are a bit pricey, you get what you pay for! Knowing that the fish we purchased came from specific countries that specilise in these breeds is great. We would rather pay more for quality and not some cheap vat spawn species from other countries. I highly reccomend this place if you are looking for quality fish and they have breeds / species you dont find in most places. My only downside was they dont carry much substrate, I was supprised by this considering the size of the store itself.

Arguably my favorite spot to get reptile and aquatic animal care products. Petland is a little expensive, but they are well worth the health of the animals purchased and the quality of the products. They have a wide variety of small animals, including but not limited to rats, ferrets, mice, hamster, bunny, lizards, tortoises, birds, and a large selection of fish and aquarium life including plants. Great Spot !

I wish I took a picture of their display tank it was literally packed full with cichlids and foot long cat fish maybe an inch apart from each other literally swimming through eachother so overstocked it’s Insane those fish must all be having such a hard time you know a pet store is bad when there display tank is extremely overstocked not to mention the beta situation there were pre mature betas in tiny glass jars straight up animal abuse and it seems like nobody actually knows whats going on should hire someone that’s cares about fish it’s disappointing

I really like this store. I mainly go for the fish room. Quality fish, huge variety that changes all the time. Prices can feel a little steep at times, but they are really nice fish. They often have good sales, and Tuesdays are 2 for 1 under $10.

I bet there is a company policy that requires employees to, like, over help, because every time I go in there, employees are right there, at the door, ready to over help me pick out, like, dog treats. Maybe some people like that level of service, and I do like it too if I need it when I'm buying a new pet, but in general I find it a bit much.

They take lovely care of their animals and if you notice something amiss that animal will be put under observation and given the care it needs! Petland is one of the only major Canadian pet supply outlets that's shipping to homes during the pandemic. Shipping is fast, and so is the customer service! The first time I ordered, I was given a lot of high quality samples for my dog to try, all of which he loved. I can tell the samples were curated for him since they were specific to his size/breed, which showed me how much thought was put into the package. I didn't even provide that information, it was just inferred by what I ordered - already impressive! What pushed me over the edge to write this review was my second order. I actually went back to order the full version of one of the products that was sampled, specifically from them since they included a 10% off coupon for my next order. However, I couldn't get this coupon to work, but I placed the order anyway and asked customer service for a 10% refund after the fact. In the same email, I asked for another sample of a specific product they carried so I knew if I wanted to buy the full version. A representative got in touch with me in less than 12 hours and refunded my 10%, AND told me she'd included samples of multiple flavours of the product I'd asked for. It still hasn't even been a full 12 hours since I placed my order, but all of my special requests have already been seen to, and my order has been custom packed and shipped!! I don't usually experience such responsive, high quality service, so I felt I had to write a review :) Please use Petland, it's worth it!

I usually love this place . but today i got over charged for a fish and was made to beleive the fish was ten dollars more then advertised..the worker said the fish loose color in the bag so they will get their colours back. So when i get home n release the fish i see its not even the species i asked for..so again i called n questioned and finally after the third time the admit they gave me wrong fish and to catch and return the fish the sold me and drive another half hour to return it..complete bs getting over charged for a fish i didnt ask for and then another 20 bucks in gas. They should have told me to come get the fish i ordered free of charge for the inconvenience

I actually love this place, I find myself just losing time walking around the dark fish room, feels like you are actually under water. Great service, decent selection/range of products and brands, they sell live birds, rodents, and reptiles, and fresh and saltwater fish, about which the staff are very knowledgeable. Their fish are on the pricey side especially when looking for a school of something but they do have BOGO Tuesdays which helps for sure. They are starting to offer saltwater which is rare in the Niagara Region, so that saves a trip to Hamilton, just be sure to quarentine everything; saltwater, delicate, or costly ones; for at least 6 weeks, as pests (ex: aiptasia, asterina stars) and disease (ex: ich.) are often seen in their saltwater tanks. They don't have much selection yet as they only started saltwater like in the last year or two, but sometimes they get rare or unusual fish. They don't sell corals yet. Great "local fish store" feel. All in all, awesome place and staff, definitely recommend a visit. Kids really love the fish room too!

Lots of freshwater fish, some harder to find livestock like skunk cories. Prices are pretty steep for more common fish e.g. tetras, but the promotions/sales are solid, and the rarer livestock is priced quite fairly.

Their knowledge of betta fish (at least the employee I spoke to) is laughable. Bettas should be in a 3 gallon (preferably 5 gallon) minimum, with a filter and a heater as the bare minimum care. A lot of people don't know this, because pet stores tell them that bettas are happy in tiny bowls with no filter or heater which is not the case. Please, research this. Anyway, I went in there looking to buy a new heater for my 5 gallon filtered betta tank, and the employee scoffed at me saying that bettas are happier in a small vase. That is false and she clearly had NO knowledge about betta fish in the SLIGHTEST. If you care about fish, go to a smaller local pet store AJ's where they actually care about fish and have knowledge about their care.

Animals and bird in cages are in great shape with clean enclosures. Staff are very friendly. Fish are not looking to be in the best shape on my last visit so had to edit my previous review. At least a couple dead Betta and a few of the tanks looked to have questionable fish (fin rot/shredded fins/deformities). Not sure if it's just the stock they're getting in right now or if water quality is suffering. I was thinking about buying but changed my mind after a walk around. However, the Rummy Nose looked healthy and saltwater were looking good also so not an entire-store write off.

I used to love this place as a kid. I'd make my mom drive out here just so i could buy Their fish and other things for my fish all the way from kelowna, but it seems that they have drastically changed how they do business. The employees are still fine, but definitely not as passionate or knowledgeable as the old staff, at least in the fish department. they also have Drastically downsized their aquatics section, taking out tanks and moving the decor to shelves in their place. they do still have everything i was looking for, except for the fish, and are very Efficient workers but i only ever made the trip because it felt more Warm and friendly and Lively. at the end of the day though i do understand that aquatic pets are not as popular as dogs and cats and even small mammals, but it is sad to see a place i loved so much change in a way that doesn't serve me anymore

when purchasing my Axolotl, I had 3 different staff give me different info. one said rocks one said sand one said bare bottom... I decided the next day I would like a second Axo. for my second tank. the same lady who gave me false info, refused to sell me a second axo. because i did not have photos of my tanks set up side by side. (why would my tanks be side by side? ew) The people in the fish room still stand side by side with customers to discuss the fish.... but make you leave when they catch the fish because of "covid" all around a bizarre.. disappointing and un educated staff.

I got my beautiful albino budgie here, but I wasnt proud of the service. The manager was constantly nagging us about buying the budgie while we got permission from my dad. When they collected her, the manager chased the poor bird around, and when they caught her, she was biting, because she was being harshly grasped. She was violently blown in the face by the manager, and shoved into a box. My bird now freaks out when you make quick movements, and is scared of most adults.

Okay fish section, as an experienced hobbyist I like that they had at least a small selection of freshwater tanks. They still keep fish in overstocked tanks especially the zebra danios and the comet goldfish, the fantail goldfish tanks were FILTHY I still got a female ryukin fantail who's name is athena because she was very beautiful. They actually kept the lizards in proper condition. And they don't sell he small betta containers so that's good.

They know a lot about fish and have a simply massive selection of tropical freshwater fish. The store is very ascetically pleasing with a little bridge and pond filled with fish leading to the small animal section. If they don't have an animal they say they will order it for you which is fantastic.

I have been going to this pet store for almost 20 years now, back when it was the Henley Pet Centre. I love this place for shopping, for taking the kids for something fun to do to see all the animals, and I have especially always loved the aquarium area. I could spend hours walking through there. My first visit, they were selling seahorses and I wanted one so bad! We bought our two ferrets at Petland and continue to shop there for food and litter often. I miss the bridge and the koi pond, but I still love this pet store!

5 stars for the selection of fish and aquarium supplies. Not as great as some larger stores when it comes to cat food and small animal supplies, but they carry essentials for my reptiles and fish that other stores simply don't. It's the one local pet store that I can't do without.

You've lost a regular customer. I've always had a great experience shopping here until now. The sales associate was rude to me and my 10 year old son and spoke down to me about fishkeeping. I've been in the hobby for 20 years and they tried to tell me I couldn't keep otocinclus alive in my tank due to lack of food. In reality, algae is super easy to cultivate with extra light and a little extra fert.. They gave me three of the four fish I asked for but then charged me for four.. so turned off by this experience that I don't even want to go back for the $5.

This store is ok. Some things r exspensive. Lots of fish to choose from,the fish section is very hot and humid .but being a fish keeper myself it doesn't bother me but it might bother some . Didn't like how they can not garuntee the gender of some animals before purchase ,luckily we knew ,like for example guinea pigs. The staff r fairly knowledgable . Don't have everything in store ,had to go elsewhere for things . It's a good store if u need something quick ,like fish flakes . Cat litter . Water conditioner for your tank. Had many issues from other stores buying fish which are infected , petland has had the best fish I have gotten within the past year . The store has everything you need . Very unprofessional and have no sort of customer service. Went in to couple weeks ago and bought a lamp and took it home just to find out it doesn't work, so I went to return it but they said we used it so we couldnt return it. Went there again today and they told me they were not going to sell any fish to me, what kind of lunitics do this. They finally agreed to sell them but with no guarantee. Will not be going there ever again and don't recommend any one to deal with these people.

I just baught a baby ferret from them and very impressed on the girls who work at this place, Young very edgucated woman! Ferret was priced reasonably and my friend drove 2 hrs just to bring me to this amazing shop. We purchased our little girl and went on our way . Once again very impressed by the workers here and hope the owners give them the credit they deserve. Im very impressed by how clean the tanks were for all animals and how friendly all theese animals seemed in the short time i was there. You can really tell the owner and workers care for there pets. i’d advise you all to stop selling the aquaclear 70g hang on the back filter. i just got woken up at 3am by my brother and father screaming about how my brothers room is flooded. my fish tank is half empty. i’ve been running this filter for 2 days on a clean tank. the filter flooded water all over my floor and into the basement. my hardwood in my room is absolutely demolished and warped and unfortunately for us has also been discontinued (as this product should) from all stores, so it’s impossible to replace. the ceiling in my basement is ruined, as well as many valuables in mine and my brothers rooms. are you aware of how dangerous a wet-through floor is? with the weight of a 75gal + basic furniture in a room? we’re lucky our floor didn’t collapse with the amount of water that leaked through.

This is a great place to go for quality! They have knowledgeable and helpful staff. The fish I bought at a chain all died within 3 months. The fish i bought here have all in the same tank thrived. They continue to help my son with setting up and caring for a turtle. They have small mammals and a variety of reptiles. They are not always the cheapest but in everything they do as a staff they are the best!

I purchased 10 gold fish for my 40 gal tank. Two days later the fish started dying the gold fish has some type of fungus and all my fish rotted before my eyes. Within a week all my fish were dead. I took one of the living rotting fish back to the store thinking they would be helpful. Wow, I have never been treated with such disdain and apathy by a store employee and not only the guy on the floor but what I believe was the store manageress. Not only did they not care about their product dying they weren’t interested in finding out why. I will never again step foot in that overpriced horrid little store I hope they go out of business.

Extremely over priced compared to all other stores in town. I was going to buy a litter box from them that was $89.97, I was hesitant because that's a lot of money but I have a large cat so needed a big litter box. I'm glad I decided to shop around because I found it at another store for $42.99 and that was their regular every day price!!! That's nearly half the price!! I started comparing prices on their other products like food, litter etc and Petlands prices are always a lot higher than other stores. Petlands "sale" prices are other stores regular prices.

I was ignored and felt unimportant. I asked the staff if they carried a specific product and was told that they didn't carry it, but they might be able to order it in for me. The girl took me to the front till where there is an office some guy was in, and told me that she was going to grab someone to help me. I watched her explain what I was looking for to the guy in the office before walking away. I stood outside the office for a good 8 minutes while I watched the guy in the office on his computer! He didn't even acknowledge I was there before I got fed up and left.

I come here for fish supplies plants and fish. The selection is best in the Niagara region but smaller than big Al's in the hammer. All of the staff that's 30+ in age is extremely knowledgeable and very friendly. The younger staff less knowledgeable I got some water tested and the poor kid had to keep going and asking Andrew what the colours meant. I would definately recommend anyone go to this pet store! One thing I would change is order in plant tissue culture cups from tropica.
