I would agree with all the great reviews below EXCEPT that is the Minor Bros of old, not the current "regime". Sadly, the bigger they are the harder they fall and in this case what was once the hidden gem of the Niagara Region has become a place I will never step foot in again. At least until the current manager is gone.
It should be noted that the compliments about the staff are all 100% accurate, except one bad apple can ruin and entire batch and it only takes a little bit of sugar in a gas tank to run the entire engine.
Minor Bros has always had awesome staff, it has changed a lot since 2014 when they went from "family business who cares" to more of a corporate approach but even through the more corporate changes Rob has still been a familiar face and Stephen was also great to deal with, along with the warehouse boys and part time front staff.
For some reason though it seems like Stephan got pushed out the door and this new manager was brought in for absolutely no reason that has any logic whatsoever. Replacing Stephan with her makes as much sense as ripping out all High Efficiency appliances for 1950s Nostalgia and taking out LED Lighting for incandescent lighting but expecting the moves to help your pocket book.
Long term business and loyalty means absolutely nothing here anymore. The feeling of helping a family run business is gone and the mentality of the place being a feed store for livestock (as it was when it was Lincoln Feeds.....yes I am that long a customer) is slowly taking over what had become an awesome pet, bird and outdoor store.
High Quality suet for example is gone and the same junk as big box shelves replaced it. Incredibly knowledgeable pet people are now many part timers who care, but are not there enough to remember and follow up on your purchase, and the "manager"... if you can call her that, has the personality and seeming knowledge of a rusty lamp post and clearly only cares about horse or horse related product.
It's true when they say the bigger they are the harder they fall because as Stevensville and Pelham have grown into TSC type looking stores customer service all around has followed the big box store style.
You had an amazing, friendly, homely place to shop Minor Bros and you ruined that by bringing in a person who should not be allowed to oversee a rodeo let alone a store.
In conclusion I realize those with farm related products have very few options anymore, but for myself (and I would encourage anyone else) when it comes to pet or birding I will never set foot in MB NOTL again until it AGAIN (for more times in 10 years than all the years prior) is under new management.
Big Box Hubris caused me to check out Global Pets on Glendale and it was refreshing again to find a place who cares. That father/daughter owner duo gained a new customer and MB lost one for life.....simply due to a bad apple so nasty and sour the whole batch was destroyed.
As a loyal and long time Fromm customer all I can say is shame on you Minor Bros.....your got me hooked on the product years ago and for that I am thankful, but myself and all those I recommend to try (many of whom are loyal to it now due to how great a food it is) will be encouraged to take, or flat out will take, their business elsewhere.
Here is hoping the unqualified dictator is soon shown the door and I at least have a decent place to get birding products again. Until then, here is hoping Rob and the great other staff are able to weather the storm that is the dark managerial cloud hanging over the store!
