REVIEWS OF The Boathouse Restaurant IN New Westminster

My expensive breakfast was wrong: The menu said it was a specialty breakky bowl with lox. But there was no lox, instead it was smoked salmon. It tasted good, but it wasn't lox. My pot of tea was barely warm and service was horrible slow (it wasn't busy!). When 3 people go out for Easter breakfast and it costs $68 before tip, it should be the best breakfast ever. We should have gone to IHOP.

Was hear for central city beer pairing dinner. A LOT of food. All of it was delicious but high volume for a 6 course meal. Would go again definitely.

Austin “austolavestababy” Conboy

My first experience with crab. Be forewarned this place is pricey but tasty

karen nidoy

Delicious steak. Service was slow, but we are coming out of the quarantine, so understandable.

Blaine McDonald

The food was amazing very tasty and well served

View of the mighty Fraser River, paddlewheeler and people strolling along the wharf. The seafood pasta was delicious, as was my daughter's steak dinner with seasonal veggies and parmesan mashed potatoes. My husband's grilled salmon was over cooked... a bit disappointing for a fish restaurant. The shrimp appetizer is a better choice than the calamari. Lava cake with vanilla ice cream is larger than expected. Great to share!

Had made a reservation for a party of 25 for a Xmas brunch over a month before. We had to wait for over an hour and a half for our food. Very disappointed with our experience. A couple of people in our party had to leave without even eating since it took so long. You would think the management would consider having extra help to accommodate a bigger party specially knowing about it for over a month. Expressed my dissatisfaction to the manager on duty, Ivan, and he told me that was the best they could do. Not impressed ???????? We hold and organize a lot of personal and business functions at various locations and the Boathouse has been our go to venue in the past but I guess that’s will change now.

08.05.2019 just stopped here cause Angelina's was busy thought Boathouse has standards but was highly disappointed. Service was great and accommodating was up sold to the WEST Coast Trio Egg's Benny and my gf had the Canadian ham egg benny and both were horrifically done. The tiny amount of hollandaise sauce on both our dishes was solid and clumpy and no flavor and felt it has been sitting out for a long time. The poached eggs were more solid than a fried egg and was not runny like a poached egg suppose to be. The English muffin was more soggy than the dough that made them prolly due to the excess water from the over cooked poached eggs. The Canadian ham was so over cooked it was curling at the ends. The salmon tasted like a wet sock after sweating in them for the past couple of hours. The crab was still translucent meaning it wasn't cooked. The only saving grace was the fried potatoes and fresh fruit. I would never recommend these egg Benny's to even my worst enemy and definitely would never come back again, I see why it wasn't busy at all totally our mistake for going here.

Great service great food, can't ask for more :)

Dheeraj Sehmbi

Warm welcoming staff .. comfortable seating...good selection to choose from...delicious food and well made drinks.

Isabel Rigolet

Great location by the water. Had our xmas party here through work and eventhough they were extremely busy they did a great job accommodating everyone.

Ask Lyz

Food s good but service very slow. Only stop for dinner if you don't have other plans for the evening.

corneliu zait

Food and service was excellent. Great selection of wine and local craft beer. Love the location on the water too. Exactly what I was hoping for from a local New West restaurant.

Luke L'sk

Food was delicious. Service was a little slow. They followed social distancing guidelines.

Loved it

Terrible service. Food was mediocre. Would have rather gone to the Keg. We did a dine out here which we do every year and the server was not friendly. Food was so so, prawns came out burnt and not seasoned. Fountain drink was flat and no bubbles. I do not recommend.

Arthur Johnson

Pretty good food with great views

Bat Girl

Right by the water and quite scenic Boathouse has crab festival currently going on. Service excellent and starters were also very good Slightly disappointed with my entree The salmon was dry slightly overcooked and wild rice slightly under cooked Ahi tuna was very good Desserts were excellent

Andrea McKain

Service and food are pretty average here. Our last visit was a less than good experience. We had a reservation, but still had to wait quite a while. Also our reservation was for the dining area, but they booked it out for a large party last minute and ended up seating us in a awkward high table at the bar, with a view the construction site.

Stefanie Werstiuk

First time at the New Westminster location and once again the Boathouse delivers great food and service!

We had the seafood grill and tuna steak. The seafood had lots of different types of fish and came in a good quantity. It was served with wild rice and some veggies. Would definitely order this dish again!

Gaurang H

Good location, view at Port Moody is better, but this one isn't as much of a pain to get to. Never had a complaint about quality here, all good.

Brenda Garzon

Amazing food and great service. Recommend for any special occasion.

Destiny Siefert

A bit pricey for a rather sub par breakfast but the atmosphere is phenomenal and the staff are mostly well trained.

denny mires

Nice selection of sea food. They actually have a proper chef who cooks all the food and they also have a nice selection of beer on tap

Carolyn

March 20 celebrating 2 birthdays poor ser ice you had flag waiters to co.e to our table. There were 13 of us huge bill and food was not very tasty especially the risotto very dry. We all said that would be our last visit there. Was very very disappointed with the whole experience.

Greg Eby

Went there for dine out with family. Very short staffed with long wait time. Food is so so ambiance is also so so.

Daisy Yuen

Being a Vegetarian i can say ambience is good. but very limited options for Veg so please do add some more options. i know its not fair to ask but nowadays ppl are going Vegan and veg :)

Ivan Alan “SquirrelTeam91” Mendoza

Had dinner at the Boat House this evening and the service was great, restaurant had a good vibe, decent drink menu, however, the food did not agree with me one bit and got violently ill as a result and was thankful I was staying in the hotel. My colleague being from the east cost was not happy with his dinner either. Might have been a bad night, won’t be returning.

Sean Molloy

Overpriced food. Portions are small for what you pay for and really not that great. There's much better options out there rather than this generic crap. It's a mediocre chain that pretends to be bigger and better than it is.

Luis Masaya

Delicious food, great selection, limited parking. Excellent view if you make reservations ahead of time.

Nadia Deol

I was here with my small dog. They allowed us on the patio as long as he was on the outside. Was very accommodating. Will always recommend this place

Layeequddin Mohammed

It was a pleasant evening at the Boat house. The Appetizers were really really nice, although my main (fish) quite overcooked and almost chciken like. The server was excellent and the staff overall was really pleasant too. The complimentary cake for my friend's birthday was very sweet of them.

Cory Ayler

Came he with the family tonight. The kids menu worked out well (salmon and rice). Everyone enjoyed their dishes: blackened chicken sandwich 8/10, fish tacos 9/10, prawn and chicken curry bowl 8/10, and fries on the side 8/10. Dessert was the chocolate lava cake with vanilla ice cream 9/10 and the cheesecake thing. The bellini's 8/10 went down easily add did the blueberry tea 7/10. Service was pretty good 8/10. Would recommend and come back. Please keep in mind the price point when coming here. Hope all goes well.

David Nyquist

This place is a hit or miss. I've had amazing food and not so good food. The last time I was here I went was with my in-laws who are from the UK. This was the first dinner with them. I did not complain as I didn't want to give a bad impression to the in-laws but we all thought it wasn't the best. I will say the oysters are always good here.

DESERVES ZERO STARS While walking the boardwalk. This “fine” establishment Refused to offer us a table. Claimed restaurant was fully booked when 90% of seats were empty. Wouldn’t let us sit at the bar to have an appetizer when it was empty. Felt judged for being in casual clothing. Nice to be judged on Christmas Day. (4 professionals enjoying a casual Christmas Day) Dear management please don’t post a b.s response about how you value your customers because if you did you would run your restaurant better

Brandon Hastings

Great dinner beautiful atmosphere, right on the river. Good service and a great menu.

Barbara Beam

Was not impressed at all fish was dry husband's Burger was dry and my food took forever to come out because they made it wrong the first time and they didn't tell me

Raymond Ng

They have a great ourdoor patio with the nice view of the quayside river. Food is great depending on what you're ordering. Friendly staff.

Crystal Gem Girl

Delicious food and awesome staff. I absolutely loved it and i can't wait to go back!

Breanne Cooper

The food was amazing and the service was like wise. The staff were very friendly and willing to talk to me about anything on the menu. I will be coming back and highly recommended that you do to

Rita Campbell

The food was great and everyone from the hostess to the servers were super friendly. Nice view of the water at sunset.

Stephanie C

Large group dining experience: Our servers were great, but our food took over an hour to come. No one explained that food would take this long. We arrived at 12:40 and our entrees didn't come out till after 2pm. Everyone had to pay more parking. We ordered bread expecting an obvious wait for our table of 19, but they forgot and apologized as our starters came out. 6 of us ordered fish and all of them were dry. They made us order via set menu which was $32/adult and charged us a "banquet" fee of $15 on top of our Auto gratuity. They comped us about $70 of our $600 bill for our trouble, but I felt like more could have been done. Overall our experience was very disappointing and no supervisor came out to talk to us at all. I emailed their GM to inform them about our experience and didn't get any response. It's sad to see the quality of this restaurant go so down hill. We used to love coming here with our families and now we won't ever be returning.

Natasha Mckinney

Went for brunch so not a great reference for a general review. Not so busy yet service was slow in getting to us. Food also took so long the chef came to apologize. Once the food came out it was pretty standard but tasty. They were very welcoming and tried to make up for the time it took, but all in all, wouldn't be at the top of my brunch list.

Daniel Sander

I really enjoy their fish tacos. Nice location along the Quay.

Lola Bradfield

I ordered an inexpensive appetizer and dish from their casual menu. It was delicious and the service was excellent. Fresh seafood prepared and plated extremely well. But that's not why I am writing a review. While I was at the restaurant, a man named Daniel (possibly the bartender) aided a guest that was choking. He saved that person's life, and changed the lives of the people around him. Thanks Daniel, and the staff at the Boathouse, for a great meal, and a great service to our community.

Mike Ong

Great food and location right by the waterfront in New Westminster. The pricing of food is on the more expensive side, so me and my family only go on special occasions. The only disappointment was that we celebrated a birthday and we were given a table next to another large party when there were empty tables/booths. Great service and food otherwise.

Jason Wu

This place never exceeds my expectations. Alway average food at prices a bit higher than they should be charging for the quantity and quality.

Plumber Joe

Not that great. 3/5 Not that great plus the interior decorating is on some next level nope. Expensive but a good place to go for breakfast and a coffee. Good coffee and bad furniture combine to create an expensive seafood restaurant at the base of what looks like a cheesy Vegas hotel from the 70s. Im not into eating dead fish that badly. Yarrr!

Valeria Stephens (Panda)

I came in for a simple dinner and was absolutely blown away by the amazing service we received from Kathryn. She recommended a very versatile seafood dish that really met all the cravings I had. The Sauvignon blanc really balanced the prawns. Great recommendations! We will be back!

Al Jayouch

The lounge is fabulous especially for happy hour. Nice covered patio as well. Service is friendly with great food always ????

Perry A

Great food and service. We really enjoyed the patio on the river.

Mandy M

Honestly not worth the money. Server was not friendly and the meal had little taste. The ceasar salad was bitter. My husband had to keep asking for a beverage refill as the server never checked on us. We were a party of 10 so we were forced to pay the %15 tip which the server didn't deserve. The Keg is so much better. The server gave the wrong food to someone and came back a long time after to correct it and gave the now cold dish to the right person with no apology. I won't go back, complete waste of money.

Zulya Keen

Nice quaint restaurant for breakfast. Nice view to boot too.

HL Wright

Very pleasant surprise. Great oysters, marvelous crabcakes, perfectly cooked fish in a spacious setting with a great active river view. I'll be back to while away another Sunday afternoon with champagne and oysters.

Brad “WebsResponsive” A

Great food and service. Had a nice table with a water view of the pier. Second visit to the restaurant - will definitely go back again. Had a mocha ice cream pie for dessert - good choice.

Brandee Mills

Disappointed in the quality of food, way overpriced for what you got. The place was nearly empty and we still had to wait 15 minutes to be seated as they "got a table ready." We had called and made a late reservation for 9 pm. But to be confronted with the reality of a nearly empty restaurant on a Friday night in that location was a testament to the quality of the food we experienced. Though the service was friendly and reasonably efficient, there are much better options around.

Pam B

Medium good experience. They were really accommodating when we said we were starting to feel sick and wanted to box up our meal to go. They cooked the steak wrong, but did fix it. The lime shrimp wasn't very limey and the tilapia was very over seasoned I feel. (Obviously my tastes are mine) Also we told them it was our three year anniversary and made a reservation ahead of time, then we showed up and checked in and she was like oh let me go look for your table, was gone seven minutes and then put us in between two big tables with children, at a table made for four people. Creating lots of intimacy and ability for us to hear each other at our special night (insert sarcasm). They did however comp the steak at the end and didn't charge us for the dessert when we made our entree a three course meal and didn't get the dessert because we had to leave early. Servers were nice though. So all in all medium good.

Melanie Campbell

A very nice place , with a nice view of the river, cuisine very good also, and with the happy hour list all day you have the possibility to test more and nice price, food and drinks good price, the place is haghly recommended...

Anna Ayvazov

Food quality really leaves something to be desired. Bleck. Service today very slow. Great patios but inside feels stifling.

Terry Smith

Gr8 place, but unfortunately we visited on a Saturday nite. It was super crowded! But awesum drinx n ambience nevertheless! 5 stars for sure!

Janet

Service

Dave Bensch

Great selection, friendly staff! Food was excellent

Doris Santic

Dirty cutlery, napkins, glassware. Servers looked confused. Something wrong with this place.

Godwin C

Service was VERY slow and the restaurant was 1/2 empty. Food was just okay and overpriced for the experience. Would not go back.

Jacqueline Livingstone

Nice area, friendly crew, good service. Reason for 3 star, Fish and Chips served a frozen Sysco or Costco 3 pieces, it was very oily, soggy inside, lemon veggie wasn't served. Chips was obviously frozen with more than one ingredient (potato), I tried to order a spaghetti instead linguine, it wasn't possible. We also ordered a pasta, which was nicely seasoned, harmonic taste, parmesan type of cheese sliced on the top. My expectation for the level and the price range at least a fresh cut cod for F&C at a seafood restaurant.

Cindy Dixson

The service is good, the food is ok. I enjoy sitting on the patio here in the summer. I guess the biggest challenge is parking as the lot is typically quite full and it is paid parking.

N B

We have been to 4 different boathouse (2 are now closed) and this is by far the worst. Dirty plates on the table and dust on the ledges beside the table is only the start of our dinner. The caesar salad dressing was bland and watery; it resembled lily pads on a lake more than a salad. One of our meals had a black mystery item on his mashed potatoe but he did not bother to mention it. In hindsight he should have. The main courses were fine but not exceptional considering the inflated prices we paid. Come to dessert time we were given forks for the dessert and was told there were no clean spoons in the entire restaurant and they were unable to wash any in a timely manner! Try eating a tasteless creme brulee with a dinner fork! Unfortunately my preordered dessert did not arrive. We reminded the waitress and it still did not arrive. By now we were ready to leave and I cancelled the dessert. The manager of the front of the house took the dessert off the bill and an additional 10% but it was too little too late as our dinner night out was ruined by incompetent cooks and servers. My dessert did finally arrive after 20 minutes. They offered it to us gratis and I said they can put in on our table since they can not serve it to anyone else now. They responded that they could since the plate did not touch the table. Enough said.

Catherine Wang

Decent atmosphere. Reminds me of the 00s. Service is friendly for the weekend of the Feb 2nd 2019. Other than that the food is way overpriced. I know seafood is not cheap but this is basically the Keg version of a seafood restaurant.

Tera Nicholson

Always great seafood and really hardworking staff. Being a Landrey's club member gives discounts and a free dinner on your birthday. Our favorite is the one on the Quay in New Westminster but the ocean side one's at English bay and Whiterock are also excellent.

jen tang

Had 2 recent visits. First server was very good, second time was not so friendly. Meals were hit and miss. Over cooked lobster, bisque no good, stuffed salmon and lobster ravioli fairly good. Top 40 Music does not suit restaurant, end up yelling at people I am sitting next to as gets too loud. Nice atmosphere though.

Kelly Burch

Great location, stop in for a drink while walking the quay. Friendly staff and mediocre food

Chris Kavanagh

Service was okay although we did arrive close to closing time. The menu was full of various options. However they did run out of oysters. Other than that I would definitely try their tuna tataki and miso covered halibut

Darren Head

Eden was our server and she was awesome and friendly. I had a bad experience at our last visit at the Boathouse in Port Moody where the sesame encrusted Tuna was terrible and my wife's dish was only so-so. Eden promised me that this New West location Boathouse makes it perfect and she was absolutely correct. It was probably the best I've ever had. I would advise the Port Moody location get some lessons from the New West location.

tarek a

Best time to go is between 12pm and 4 pm for appetizers and drinks.

Judy Amendt

Great food and service. Had hoped for scallops, but swordfish was great. Everyone enjoyed their meal.

Liv-Anita Dahl

Good food and great service! The server Nathan was awesome. Made the service personal and fun at the same time.

Manoj Benjamin

We had my birthday dinner here tonight and it was absolutely de-licious!!! We had a great time!!!

Tam R

Had a wonderful river view table lovelly fresh oysters .ceaser salad and a glass of chardonnay a magic lunch.

Patrícia AS

Kathryn is an excellent host. Really made the meal pleasant.

Pierre-Sebastien Cabrejo-Jones

The Boathouse is a great restaurant right on the river/warf in central New West We were a large table and our server did amazing, including dietary restrictions. ! Food is tremendous, this visit and every other. The only thing I was taken back about was a "forced' tip of 15%. Quite honestly I was going to be tipping more than that but decided on 15% because of it. All on all had a beautiful meal with an amazing view, great service. Highly recommended.

Jared Palm

The ambiance was good however very disappointing service, possibly too few servers that evening? It seemed chaotic and the servers were disorganized forgetting drinks, food and even that we were celebrating a birthday. The food was so disappointing and way too expensive for what was served. Seven of us ordered and our food came 1 hour after we ordered. Very dry unsalted and unflavoured rice on a $44 lobster/fish dish with a piece of dry tasteless salmon. The crab legs were mushy meaning they had been refrozen. When the crab shell is soft providing tools to crack the shells is pointless, better that the chef slices the shells before serving. The mashed potatoes had hard lumps in them. Never had this kind of service or poor quality food at any of the other Boathouse restaurants. Poor way to end my birthday and won't be my choice next year.

KI HYUN SONG

Went to Boathouse today for a Christmas drink at 3:50. The restaurant was empty and we were refused saying the restaurant was full. The restaurant was empty we even requested to sit at the bar. The hostesses were rude. Not coming back.

Gareth hammett

Came here for Sunday brunch: food was good but staff seemed unorganized even though we were one of the first tables of the day. Waitress tipped over a glass of water, helped dry the table, but left the cracked glass. Ok experience, not great. Should have just waited for a table at Angelina’s.

Jacqueline Choi

Garbage. Don't waste your time coming here. Just like the other reviews say, this restaurant really needs to re-evaluate their business model.

Ilia Boutoma

I had dined out with my friends last Saturday night, the first time to participate this dining event. I have to say that the dishes I ordered were so good, I enjoyed every bite of the food; the waiter, Jason, was thoughtful and fast. All my friends enjoyed dining in this restaurant.

PerryKari G

Beautiful views of the Fraser River, great service...try the surf and turf special, it was delish!

Melvin Dang

Went for a special occasion. Server missed 2 of our guests drink orders and seemed interested in serving other tables. Food was decent but over priced.

Wayne Stad

Food was good. Went for company Christmas lunch which I made reservations for a more than a month ahead but they didn't seem to have enough servers for our large group. The waitress seemed to get our orders mixed up but in the end everyone got what they ordered. Views of the river are nice while you are eating.

Robert Billard

Brunch came out cold for half the party. $16 omelette was only egg and cheese, with potatoes and toast on side. Tasted fine, but I'd only come for lunch or dinner. Brunch, you can do way better for the price point. Tasted decent, service is good. Delicious mimosas!

Shannon Perovic

Came here for dinner to celebrate my husband's birthday. We had a party of 9 (5 adults, 4 kids) and took advantage of the Dine Out event menu options but the entire dinner experience went downhill quick. My fish was overcooked & tough, 2 steaks were served incorrectly, the curry shrimp was on the dry side (not enough sauce), my husband asked for hot water but was served lukewarm water (three times we asked & got same results!). Our server "Ivan' said that's how the hot water comes out of the pot, but when I got hot water for my tea, it was steaming hot! And when we questioned "Ivan", he gave snarky attitude & comments. Terrible service! We presume because we are large party and the 15% is already included, our server probably felt it was not necessary to do his job. Our water glasses were not re-filled unless asked, when desserts we served, he did not ask if we wanted tea/coffee. Isn't that standard?!? The restaurant was NOT busy - tables around us were empty!! For a 'nicer' restaurant...this place was sub-par. A woman brought out the steaks that were returned & she did quietly apologize for the error. We presume she was the manager but she did not introduce herself. Our server at the end of the night was the one who informed us that one of our steaks was complimentary due to their error. If there is no one leading, then no wonder the staff sucks at their duties. Everyone needs re-training from the manager, to the cook, to the servers. We won't be coming back to this location ever again. So disappointing! Sucked big time!

lauraenigma

3/4 times the bacon burger was great, other times the burger and gluten free bun were too dry. The paddle wheeler nearby had better consistency but slightly inferior quality

Jenn Faccin

One of the best Boathouse locations for views but not necessarily for service. We usually only go to the Boathouse for special occasions and they have either messed up our orders or taken forever on each occasion. But the view is nice of course and the food is usually good once they get it right.

Adam Bull

For what we received it was over priced. Only slightly better than a Red Lobster on quality. Service was definitely Red Lobster. King crab legs were rubbery, Ahi Tuna portion was tiny and way over cooked. Calamari looked like left over canned pieces. Shrimp were over cooked and presentation was as if done by high school cooking class students. Tilapia was the only standout, but even it looked like a really nice plate from an average local pub. Not a really nice plate from what is supposed to be an upscale seafood restaurant on the West Coast. Had much better seafood at a lower price in a higher end restaurant in Montreal two days later. That shouldn't be the case as they sit essentially on the Pacific Ocean.

Don Germiquet

Nice view but food lacks the quality of a fine dining. Also, price seems way too high for the the quantity of food you receive.

Sharlotte Appalsami

It was really bad service. I wish i can give 0 star. Food took almost 30 min While i ordered coke to drink, it was flat. I told the server it is flat, they didnt change or nothin just left flat coke. Also water glass was cracked at the middle. Finally food arrived. They didnt fill up the sauce. Normally i dont care the service that much but this restaurant is really bad. This is not the mcdonalds. Probably mc service will be better. They need to care their customers.

Richard Elias

The atmosphere, location, and paint are all nice but their $9 beer doesn't taste any better than most $8 beer.

Doug McMillan

Overly expensive, portion sizes were very underwhelming, service was decent, very limited menu. Will likely not go back.

G C

Very friendly service good food & drinks. Enjoyed it very much just wish they did happy hour 7 days a week instead of just weekdays!!

David Kushneriuk

Friendly and quick service, good kid's menu, and great view. When the weather is nice it is a great spot to sit outside. Food was a little underwhelming. Did not feel taste/quality matched price. Would not write off The Boathouse completely, but would not sit down for a big meal here.

Peter Toth

Comfortable. Amazing watching the river. Friendly. Checked our vaccination cards and ID's. My New York steak was good. My partner's crab stuffed ravioli was tough. Food service was fast. Drink service was v...e...r...y.......slow. A bit pricy for what it is though. The Keg is a bit cheaper but better food.

Sylvester Canasa

Expensive, dirty carpet, dirty dishes, hair on food, the manager did give us a discount but even with that not worth it. The waitress was very nice and so ashamed for everything but honestly its not worth it. Never again. Won't let give 0 starts that why I put 1.

Shirley

Recently dined here (Sunday December 23, 2018). My experience was fine, our server was friendly and patient with our large table. But other members in my party did not have a good experience with their food. Edit: Issue being discussed privately now.

Johannes De Beer

Thank you Megan for hosting us yesterday, we sampled oysters and crab, the view from the patio was stunning, I love New West, lots of parking underground and a nice walk on the board walk.

Julie S

Had a great Christmas party there! Great service and great food! Highly recommend this place ????

Odessit Morozov

They seem to be following Covid rules. The waitress was quite attentive. The food was passable. I don't think I will be returning anytime soon.

Maggie Alessio

I had a great time and the food was really good. But the thing that ruined my stay was the hostess who is very mean, and gave us dirty looks.

Hilde Schepens

Not even a mediocre experience - a) inconsiderate hosting staff meandered us around the restaurant after watching my father limp/stagger thru the entry, b) uninterested server whose acting would have won her a Razzie, c) service was slower than a super busy restaurant would have been and they weren't busy, d) just about killed me after plating an ingredient I said I was allergic to, e) poor timing - not only waited an extremely long time for bread and soup, we were still eating appies when our mains came out and when mentioned no offer to take them back and keep them warm, f) little details ignored such not keeping appy platter items warm (or reheated) while replating without my allergy item, g) lack of attention - had to request drink refills a number of times h) overuse of sauce to cover up mediocre lamb main, i) common sense - my 90- year old father had to stop and rest at an empty table to catch his breath and took off his mask to do so - staff told him, while sitting at a table, to put it back on. As he would say, give you head a shake. Even the patron next to us, though it was ridiculous. Nope, won't be going back - ever

Jordan Schroeder

Kind of disappointing. Service was good but the food wasn't, everything overcooked. No oysters as well, despite them being advertised.

Anne James

As always we go to Boathouse Restaurant for special occasions and it's perfect all the time! The food is amazing, a lot of menu choices for vegan and kids. The scenery from our table was overlooking the scenic River at the New West Quay.

C Lee

The wine was good but the food is not memorable. Also no point in making a reservation since you won't get a good table as a result.

Gord McCormack

Delicious food and the service was friendly

Steffi Powahs

Worst service ever. The restaurant was totally under staffed. There was only one guy taking orders in a full restaurant. I mean if you call your self on par with places like cactus club or earls, you shouldn't be understaffed like that at least on weekends. Even seafood dishes were pretty average. The prices were so incredibly high. Just a small bowl of a dry piece of salmon with two pieces of tasteless prawn and one small scallop with rice with two pieces of zucini was 40$.They call it seafood grill platter. You should rather rename it bowl and not a platter .. Absolutely not worth it !!.The price is right only for the view but unfortunately we were seated in a weird place with absolutely no view because we were 15 minutes late. The host literally rudely said " You are late so we have only this seating" We asked them if we can grab a different seating which was close to the water for which she said it was reserved. I noticed literally no one was seated on that table till the end and we left during restaurant closing time.

Suvin B

Over-priced food and drinks, but they do have a really nice patio. We went for Valentine’s Day, and the set menu was semi-decent, but the presentation was poor, and parts of my dish were missing. Wine menu was good, but my margarita was probably the worst I’ve had. I don’t often complain, but I was really disappointed with my dish, and the manager was really kind and helpful. Our dessert was then forgotten by the waitress, so we just paid the bill and left. This was the second bad experience I’ve had at this restaurant, so we will likely not return.

llama hu

The food was good but the service sucked.

Love The Boathouse . Always have a fun time there. Great wines and on the bar side Sunday has an especially affordable happy hour menu all day. Great vibe and nice view. Patio is lovely also. I'll be back.

ALANA HUNTER

Went to the Boathouse today around 6:30 and didn’t make a reservation on Open Table as every time slot were available. I went in and asked if there were any tables available, they told me that they were fully booked, even the bar was full. I looked around and there were some people waiting but there were also quite a few bar tables empty. I went out and booked through open table, I got a spot right away. Immediately I went in and told the girl that I have just made a reservation for 6:45. The girl gave me a look and said that you won’t be seated until 6:45. Oh did I mention I am an Asian? Lol. Makes me wonder if I was turned away due to the virus going around. NOT COOL!!

Christa Oei

Fantastic service and beautiful view!! ..however will never go back .. to pay $24.00 for a simple salad with a piece of cooked (previously frozen) salmon is insane... we were in absolute shock at the food quality vs $$$

Tim Wilkins

Horrible experience, and after discussing matters with several of the staff, I understand the problem is the kitchen's management. Lack of respect and communication between the servers and the cooks, lack of experience of the head chefs, sous chefs, executive chefs (whatever they think they should be called) & lack of professionalism are all key factors of why the Boathouse New West is rapidly losing its good reputation.

Gedd Maracle

Went for mothers day. Food was good. They could have used more servers as it was very busy, that is not the servers fault as they were trying their best.

Gary Gao

Server : Shawn (apologies for not knowing the correct spelling) This past weekend, my fiancé and I had the pleasure of hosting a dinner for the members of our wedding party and their spouses so everyone can meet prior to our wedding. Our reservation was for 6pm and that happened to be the same day as New West Pride Street Festival. Amongst the craziness, rush hour and everything preventing us from getting there on time, Shawn had a sense of calmness and a warming welcome with that little bit of charm that made you forget why you were frustrated in the first place. For the duration of the dinner, the experience we had with Shawn was beyond exceptional. He was always smiling, gave suggestions when needed and gave us as much time with the menu without being overbearing. He had a sense of urgency when bringing out all our requested drinks, plus ordering food without the added pressure to order quickly was a nice break. As for someone who formerly worked in the food industry for six years, I do have an idea of what's good service and what isn't. Shawn, thank you very much for your service and your hospitality during our dinner. All of us thoroughly enjoyed our food and our time with you. And thank you for your patience, kindness and bringing your sense of humour & smile to the table. Keep doing you. Sharlotte A.

Veronica Ng

Servers are excellent! Happy hour food is very good.

Swapna Kamath

Less than expected in terms of portion size and overall quality as well as taste. Over priced but nice atmosphere and pleasant service from Jenna ????????????????

Ene Ochigbano

The reception was good and called back half day prior to confirm reservation made two day before. Upon arrival, the host warmly greeted and lead up to the reserved table. But the servers were the worst I have ever seen! Even a waiter at a café can be better. No server could remember who had ordered but simply put whatever on his hand on my spot. Even worst, the second server came up with 3 plates in his hands, when he landed my plate on the table, he slipped the plate, making a bang that loud enough to attract the eyeballs of dinners from tables around, and almost spilled my pants. And we have to asked for the proper knives for different course from the waitress. Just ridiculous! Never go to Boathouse again!!!

Eugenia S

Terrible experience. Had to wait almost an hour for our food to come out. Server was not sincere in apologizing. When it arrived he seemed to be intentionally avoiding us so we couldn’t tell him the food itself was too salty and not palatable. Had to fight for someone’s attention to settle our bill. Overall this is a poorly run establishment. Will not be returning.

Selena L

Excellent happy hour menu! Really nice food and good priced drinks. Friendly staff and great ambience. Located on the Fraser river in downtown New Westminster. Prime location om the boardwalk!

Seda Y

Expensive , but there is a reason I come get for my birthday dinner every year. The food is amazing the green curry chicken and prawn bowel is to die for. I have not had a bad meal yet

David Nelson

Table wasn’t clean after waiting for 20min in line + 5min for the table to be ready. Slow & unenthusiastic service (not busy). Every table had complimentary bread except us and I have to mention that we were the only Asian customers in there at the time. Hard not to feel that was the reason we were left out. Food wasn’t worth the price either. Do not recommend!

Stephanie Michelle (Clark)

Great food, great service.

Michael Uilenberg

Amazing crab lobster experience ????

Robert Miller

My GF and I went for Dine out Vancouver. I was surprised that the interior is more like a Denny's than a Boathouse restaurant. While we waiting for our table I went to the washroom and found 2 toilets full of excrement and the 3rd had the stall covered with greasy fingerprints all over inside. I found this pretty concerning being covid and all. The food portions for the appy and dessert seemed small and the main dishes were not cooked properly. The prawns were overdone on the steak. And the steak was cooked properly but grisly. The ravioli had a nice sauce but the pasta wasn't fully cooked. I did not complain because I know in some restaurants you end up with something in your food. The best part was the bread and the wine we ordered. I reached out to management by email after to let them know and really wasn't satisfied with the response I got. I will not be back now will I recommend them again.

Blayne D

No craft beer on tap? Are you serious? Management, please get with the times. Also this place needs a serious overhaul to stay in business, it feels dated.

Raven Song

The place was filthy. There was food all over the floor and our reservation was lost but thankfully they still sat us.

RespectivelyMe

A larger group of us came to The Boathouse Restaurant after a weekend seminar at the Anvil Center. It took us quite a while to get to the food (which was waiting for us upon arrival) so everything was cold, but I can't complain, it tasted good. Noticed that the staff stayed out of our way. We didn't have difficulty getting their attention.

Angus Exner

The crablegs were a little over done and it took a bit to flag the waiter after we realized he hadn't brought us steak knives. The view is great. Just a little better attention to detail needed.

Glenn Johnston

The lobster special is a scam! Everything taste so bad! I don’t mind to pay the market price for the lobster. But the lobster is overcooked and the rice is extremely disgusting. The risotto is not a normal risotto which tastes very weird mixed with all the veggies. Very disappointed with everything I order. Will not come back again and I will definitely post on social media to tell everyone how bad it is!

Robynn Randell

Lovely place with a vast selection of food and drinks. Great wine and cocktail selection and outstanding well professional service staff.

Vernon Brewster

Casual atmosphere, happy hour drink specials and nice portion sizes. Food was tasty and view over the river was lovely. Hard not too like

Alexander Cattalani

Great food, great service.

Steve Sakamoto

The service at this location was excellent and the food was even better. I had a very great experience and would definitely recommend both types of oysters. I went in the late afternoon at about 3:30 so that wasn't very busy and my server was very attentive and kind. Excellent place to go on a first date ☺️

Travis N.S.

All day happy hour in the lounge in New West and Richmond. Great food and drink specials. Worth a visit.

Susan

If i could give no stars i would ! Poor, rude customer service, Went a couple weeks ago with my mother and girlfriend, Place was barley packed but took almost 30 minutes for drinks, And when food arrived my chicken strips were extremely spicy, I can handle spice but couldn’t even finish one, Neither could my mom and girlfriend. When brought the the waiters attention he argued that he’s “never had that comment on them” and “are you sensitive to spice or something” no offer of switching for something else or even a re order- Plus kept them on the bill, And to top it off we watched our waiter leave our table and go up to the bar and start talking to another waitress while looking in our direction.. Seems a lot like they were talking about us. My mother being a customer there for years was disappointed in such service. Seems like you need to do a “retrain” on your staff. ????

David Gloyn-Cox

Food quality has gone down in the last few years. Service is slow and inconsistent. Server complained about staffing issues, saying he was the only server on the floor at 5:45 PM on a Saturday - disappointing experience overall.

Mary Daniel

We come here frequently, always a great relaxed atmosphere. Good food good people and a great view. Perfect for people watching too.

Epic Loots

Ive eaten here a number of times, the food is really quality(love the snow crab). I normally come in a little late and its never an issue. Service is exceptional as well.

Emm Vee

Food is mediocre. Room was busy, could be a nice view during the day but could not tell as we were there at night.

e auyeung

Absolutely wonderful lobster and salmon.

Paul Sharp

Fantastic food. Lovely place, especially for date night with the wife.

Deborah

Amazing food, good service and they definitely made me feel special on my birthday. Very accommodating to our group.

Bangshoong

Dine out Vancouver good deal. Add 75 bucks for valentine's day dinner. Same menu

Scott Carroll

Lackluster experience from start to finish. We were so disappointed by the time we finished our cocktails that we left before ordering food and went somewhere else as we were attempting to celebrate a special occasion. At $1/sip you really want to say yum after every taste (don't order the classic mojito) no sugar rim or dazzle, just tasted like cheap rum and soda with bar limes lemons shoved in (i never put those inside my drink, ugh). Tried to make reservations for a window seat, couldn't get that accommodated although 2 window tables were available in the lounge.

Yvonne Anstey

Took my father-in-law there for brunch. While the menu is much smaller than pre-covid it was still quite good. My partner got the cheese omlette and he said it was very good and liked that it was light and fluffy. I got the crab and shrimp omlette that was also quite nice with the avocado inside and a touch of hollandaise sauce My father-in-law got the eggs benny and said it was the perfect size along with eggs being cooked to perfection! The roasted potatoes came with all three orders and were very delicious. Didn't get a chance to take photos as we were all quite hungry. Our server was very lovely, she made sure we had coffee but also didn't rush us once we had finished our meal giving us a chance to finish our visit. Only reason I am not giving them 5 stars is the menu could use a regular breakfast Eggs and bacon option.

Jason Frank

Food was not up to Boathouse standards. Service was very slow. Waited 45 minutes for our lunch despite few cistomers. Did not like our meals at all. Ordered the seafood salad and got 2 shrimp in it. Very disappointed.

Kurt Thiele

Overpriced, small portions, mediocre food. I don’t intend to be disrespectful, but honestly, it blows my mind that they even survive.

Mark James

Had to go up to the bar for more coffee at breakfast time and ask for water twice The dinner the night prior many of us ordered the blackened chicken burger. Was all bun with the tiniest piece of chicken. We brought take out for our daughter to the room. Eggs benny. They did not provide us with any cutlery or napkins.

Bob Baker

Great food and the patio offered a relaxed atmosphere. Can take in the sites and people watch.

Trevor Radelet

Because of the pandemic Covid19, this resto who was usually full, started to be visited by its usual customers. It won't be surprising if it will be getting busier in the days ahead.

Sandra “Queen” Namagembe

Had a group dinner with set menu. Food was very poor. Seafood chowder as a starter and coconut cod as a main. Chowder wasn't hot and barely warm, was also bland and watery. Coconut Cod was overcooked and bland. The only thing that was ok was the desert, Mocha Ice Cream Pie. Which was more like a mousse than ice cream. I get the idea of a set menu, but this is a terrible representation of their food.

Dano Lightwalker • Insight By Water

Not great, not bad, just ok.

Lizbeth Angelique

Great food and atmosphere. Enjoy the views form the patio!

Leanna Cheung

The service was good and speedy. My glass was never empty I loved the seafood ravioli.

Greg Domville

The waiters here are a little sassy, borderline rude. Food is good, and I hope so for the price you're paying. Wine selection is good, thank god for their patio, or they'd loose another star. Every time I've come I've asked why I came. There are better places to eat, The service is the biggest thing here.

Pooya Shahbazi

Had a stormy night cocktail. Very tasty. Calamari was well cooked, not chewy like some places. Seafood chowder was very good, could have had more seafood in it though. Coconut lime cod was a nice light meal. Flavors could have been a bit stronger though. Too many peas as well. Creme brulee dessert was delicious. Fantastic custard. Overall a great place for dinner and drinks. Nice view of the river. Staff is friendly and attentive.

Chrispy Galaxi

Top notch selection for seafood in downtown Vancouver; off Davie and Denman, views overlooking the waters of English Bay and a dining experience to remember.

Arun & Jayati Singh

Excellent food and drinks would highly recommend. Service wasnt absolutely flawless but overall good experience. Will definately return.

Aaron Tsang

My friend and I had the New Year's Eve pre-set dinner menu last night and were thoroughly unimpressed. For $69 each, plus tax, plus tip, plus the cost of our drinks, it was far from a great dining experience. I heard from other diners that they had the same opinions. It was as if the kitchen was totally unprepared. The steaks, by many accounts, were pretty good, but the fish was awful; undercooked and slimy with lots of bones. The prawns were cold. The carrots were hard. The "roasted" potatoes were not roasted at all, but boiled, and perhaps thrown in a pan with some oil. We were not offered bread with our salads and had to flag down our waitress and ask for some. Very disappointing, expensive evening.

Karyn-grace Jacoba

For the prices they charge, I expect food to be really good. In the last couple of years, I'd say it was just okay. It used to be somewhere I'd go for a nicer meal and be willing to pay extra for the quality. As the quality has gone down, though, I'm not eager to pay those prices and would rather go to a comparable place where I know the food will be excellent.

Sash

Went for happy hour, service was terrible we were seen more as a bother then anything else. Food wise, nothing special the sliders were small and tasted from the freezer, tuna tacos tiny and lack lusture. With new west getting more food options they need to up their game with service and quality, really won’t be going back .

carie-ann peterson

Having been to The Boathouse many times food quality is always as expected very good. My biggest complaint about The Boathouse is the prices for a mid-level restaurant their prices are higher than other comparable restaurants a pint of beer is $9.50 plus taxes that is extremely high.

Chair was broken and the waitress knew but forgot to remove before I sat down. Table was located under the air conditioning vent and we wondered why our dishes and the table was all covered with black specs. Seems each time it came on, it spewed out hard black specs. Had to have the waitress bring new water due to our glasses full of these specs. Food took forever even though the restaurant was not even half full and was average in taste. Parking was a gong show because of construction. Never going back.

Ashlee Zhang

The food was not good at all. Seafood was dried or lacked flavor. Service was ok. Location is nice to walk around after. However, I would not recommend. For the price there are a lot of better options elsewhere.

Chris Redmond

long wait. grillled salmon was dry and overcooked. frozen not fresh? also expensive for the.portion size and quality.

Kabinad Deneke

Great food, good service. Don't forget your photo ID or they won't let you in.

Nadean Burkett

We went for Mother's Day brunch. They had a nice selection for their buffet, including seafood, carvery, omelettes, crepes and more. Desserts were a bit disappointing. Nice decor, and you can walk around the quay afterwards.

Esther Mathews

Service was great. Covid distancing ..face masks...good food ..oh ya ..check them out.

Pure Health Massage & Wellness

Had a wonderful lunch hosted here for our work year end party. The staff were excellent, food was delicious (amazingly crispy fries) they accommodated those with allergies and made us all feel welcome. Thank you all for a perfect afternoon.

Tamara Nemeth

Stopped in for Lobster fest, had the lobster bisque, was not disappointed. Had a very enthusiastic waiter, good food and good service.

P Casey

Wine selection is good, Boathouse coffee with cheese cake was a winner and the salmon I ordered was grilled to perfection. Views of the harbor are available with most seating. Service is good and the atmosphere is pleasant.

K L

Great food if you like seafood. Service is great. Nice selection of wines nice ambiance. Not a cheap option

Kyle Burton - Mortgage Professional

I expected this place to be on par with chains like Earls or Joey's, but the food was far inferior. It's in a good location on the Quay and there are not many choices for a quality sit down in the area. The service was great. The food not so much. The clam chowder was watery. The ahi tuna tacos were served in fried wonton shells - I'm not sure why anyone would put such a delicate tuna fish into an oily and crispy shell.

Diana Morris

I have been a Quayside resident for over 20 years and sadly cannot consistently frequent my own local restaurant due to terrible food and service. I've always forgiven and returned only to meet with utter disappointment. Last took in-laws from Ireland there, Mother's Day brunch - horrible and $300 later, like dog food! Tried for dinner June 7th - had to return 2 halibut meal that were inedible - and on and on $280 bill. There is something inherently wrong with the leadership culture there. Pursuant to my last meal, I was promised a free meal (not the first time) when calling to as for Assistant Manager to confirm offer, he had quit. Never again - Sad that is't has such a nice location -hope Keg takes over there!

Cindy Rabb

Pricey but absolutely delicious. Best chicken salad I've had so far.

Jordan Wood

Lovely restaurant overlooking the Fraser River in New Westminster. The food is great & the views are stunning!

Vancouver Thai Massage

Our server was excellent, however the food wasn't great. Ordered the seafood mixed grill and the salmon and prawns were very dry. Won't be returning at that price for that quality. My husband and I make it better at home.

Eileen Perrick

The service was not great. It took approximately 30 minutes for the server to bring us our drinks... And then when I tried to flag down the server for a second glass of wine I couldn't find any servers around.... It took another 30 minutes to get the bill after we asked for it. It was not a busy night. In fact, the restaurant was only about 40% full. The food itself was good.

Skyler Rushton

I love their brunch menu and patio♥️ service is really great too. Thank you ????

Charlaine McLeod

Great Service, Fresh Appies, Excellent Selection of Beverages, Happy Hour best time to go. (3-6) everyday.

Jimmy Newtron

Casey was attentive and the food was decent. Salmon was very nice, so was the prime rib. Had a pleasant Christmas lunch.

Mariia Balueva

Prices are out of control . Portions are super small . Zero justification except they clearly want the tourist money as they are unsuspecting and filing out of the attached hotel like ants from their hill. 20$ for a cup of chowder and toast !! Like I said, out of control. If your an American you will leaving minus your money and still hungry. Your used to bigger portions at a minimum.

Cas Serole

Brunch was amazing here.

Naomi Jordan

Service

Doug Hallett

Food was great, nice river view but our lunch order took over 30 minutes for fish tacos. Don't think I will be back for lunch...dinner perhaps.

Stephanie Dee

So the Boathouse does not do delivery. No Skip-the-Dishes; no Doordash; no any other delivery. How about take out? They do? Great! Take my credit card details over the phone & a taxi can pick up & deliver to me...No, can’t do that either. I have been in the restaurant many times with family, friends, etc. The food is great, but at least half of the restaurant is empty. Could they not want the business? Don’t they want the business? This is the only restaurant in New Westminster with decent seafood. It would be great if they could be flexible and make their great food more accessible to all New Westminster residents.

Sarah Third

This is the best location to have oysters. Staff are wonderful and very friendly.

Gerry Laycock

Happy hour oysters were a bit tiny. I recommend other places such as fanny bay or oyster express.

Jessica C

I love the interior of this place. Good food and ok customer service.

Jason Baker

Great breakfast with a beautiful view of the Fraser River!

GrAviTy ChrOnicLeS

Great never busy patio all while respecting distance. Happy hour menu is decent "pub" style menu. Regular full menu far superior. Oysters always epic here and yes they have some on the happy hour menu. Fried pickles...come on...delicious

Sr. Master Scott Karpiuk

The service was slow even though the place seemed quiet. Food was pretty decent. I ordered the seafood pasta.

jose azurdia

Servise was good been there several times food is always just ok i think the great location and veiw is keeping them there .

C T

Disappointing Mothers day buffet brunch. It was $50 worth of huge disappointment. Coffee (and drinks) not included. The food was cold, spongy and flavorless with a sad selection. Eggs benny was similar to an egg mcmuffin, but worse. The only "fresh food" station, omelets, were made with boxed eggs! No labels for different food items. Some weird looking rice dish that looked like the worst version of paella. The hashbrowns were ok, but very salty. The desserts were all still frozen. Fruit was a mix of melons. Dishes were dirty. Very disappointed! 1 star for view only.

Arash Salamati

The food was good and the staff was friendly. I was staying at the hotel next door, so my options were limited... i felt fortunate this was an option.

Lance

A lovely dining experience! Good food, efficient service and a beautiful view.

Larry Volchoff

The food is very good and the staff is wonderful. But we go for lobster fest. Why call it lobster fest when there is no fresh lobster. No whole lobster. And you can get the 'lobster fest' items on the ever day menu.

Alexandra Laviolette

Food is great and the view is good! A bit expensive though.

Steve MacTaggart

Both calamari and miso halibut I ordered taste great. The environment is pretty nice and the service is decent enough.

Linda Marie

Best service I have ever experienced!!!! Excellent service from our tables waiter. Dinner veg was cooked to the perfect texture. Mashed was well seasoned. Nice to have an alergy free meal :)

Graham Bingham

Food was great. Timing was not. My food arrived first so was cold when my wife's dish arrived.

Steven Kavanagh

As an assistant to the VP of Food and Beverage of an upscale restaurant and a 5 year experienced server - I know how the food industry should be operated and this restaurant by far really needs to evaluate their business.... Yesterday my mom tried to book a reservation for my birthday and the front desk put her on hold for 30 minutes. My mom was working at the time so she couldn't wait and opted to booking online instead. When we got there for our reservation at 7PM and was seated - No server came to greet us. We already decided on our food choices and still no server has came to greet us (it has been over 15 min already with no server presence) I had to get the hostess to fetch our server for us as I had no idea who he/she was since they never greeted us? The food then took an hour and our server never came by to re-fill drinks or clean-up our plates. It was almost 9 PM and we all wanted to go home since we still have work/school the next day. I ordered the dine-out menu so i was still waiting on my dessert. AGAIN i could not find our server for a good 20 min after we finished our food so i had to go to the bartender to fetch her. I told her to pack up my dessert and just fetch us a bill since it's already getting late. My mom was quite upset because she wanted to order the lava cake with a candle so they can sing me happy birthday but this service was just horrid, we didn't want to stay another second in this restaurant. What's going on Boathouse? With the growing restaurants in GVRD, you would think to consistently drive your business to catch up to competition. Especially in slow months such as Jan, you should be striving to better your service to increase more guest presence. Now I know our restaurants have no competition here so good luck with everything and I most like will not eat here again.

JAE

2 of us arrived around 7pm on a Saturday night. The dining area was apparently busy and we requested a seat in the lounge. We were told the lounge was full (it wasn't - there were several seats available at the bar and various tables) and it would be a 15 minute wait. We decided to wait - giving them the benefit of the doubt. 20 minutes later - same host gives us the vaguest reason why it would be an even longer wait. We explained we would happily sit at the bar and have a drink, bring us a basket of bread and we can be patient if the food takes awhile. She still kept saying NO. We left and went to The Hub across the street. It was actually packed yet we were seated within 10 minutes. Boathouse is not worth the wait.

Rhandi Neal

Good food pleasant service. Had to send my steak back as it was overdone

iShazam

My fav creme brulee place

Lois Alves

This place has the best bartender in the Lower Mainland!

Mel Siermaczeski

I honestly have never had a better service even though my dish was over cooked. My mother and I went in yesterday for dinner. We had ordered the blackened tilapia and seared halibut which were recommended by the server. The tilapia was delicious, but my halibut ended up being over cooked. I mentioned to the service and have him send it back to the kitchen. The manager came by, she kindly apologized. She explained there was a chef in training but there was no excuse and asked me if there is anything they could offer me. I mentioned I might get another tilapia but then changed my mind to just sharing the one dish with my mom. She insisted and asked if I would like a dessert or a salad instead. I ended up choosing dessert. 5 minutes later a warm molten lava cake with icecream on top was brought to my table. It was delicious indeed, i would've happy paid for it anytime. Just before we get the bill, our sever brought a togo box over to our table and said "we just wanted you to have this too, sorry about tonight". I looked into the box saw that the kitchen had made another blackened tilapia and packed it for us. I honestly had not expect any of that. I was shook by how generous the restaurant was to its customers. They handled the situation well with maturity and turned negative to positive. I apologize to for not remembering the names of the server and the manager who helped me last night. Otherwise I would like to shout out to them. I am writing this review to show my gratitude. I would definitely come here again. #waytogo

Juz

Beautiful scenery with excellent customer service to boot. It is currently 1st come, 1st serve, so expect to wait at least 20 minutes. It's worth the wait.

Fiona Lazzarotto

Kept us waiting on the door because apparently cutting cucumbers in front of waiting customers is a way to build good rapport.

Saadiq Daya

Lovely food. Patio dining was a bit chilly on a cooler day. Friendly and accommodating staff was a wonderful experience. Our server Michael was very funny and attentive. Would recommend and will return again and again!!

Morgan Webber

It's really a shame about the Boathouse, the location is amazing. I've visited twice now, so this is a summation of both visits. Honestly, the food is just very mediocre for the price. First visit, we thought we'd take a stab at brunch. I tried an omelette, which to me is cooking 101, and it was... dry and had almost no fillings. The toast was dry and not terribly delicious. Second visit was for dinner, we had a party of five people. I don't think anyone was super impressed with their food-- the price, the amount of food for the price were very disparate. I ordered the lobster and shrimp ravioli-- the pasta was under al dente-- very tough and there was only four raviolis for the cost which I felt was very high. One of the members ordered a steak and said it was "OK" but the sides were small. The decor seems very dated to me as well, which isn't a dealbreaker but you know, it's reflective of something overall. The service was fine, however, I will say that I didn't have a problem with that. Overall, I'm kind of bummed because I'd love a local haunt with a nice view and a good weekend brunch.

Alfred Chan

The perfect place for horrible food and even worse service.

Doodle

Amazing seafood and great drinks . Only complaint lately is that they have been using more frozen fish lately during the wi get season rather than sourcing fresh fish . Still a great date night spot !!

Fazia Dean

Not very attentive to the service . Waited a long time to be served. No heat lamps working it no one cod work them . It's . The calemari was soggy .. Food was ok.. Sorry guys I love Boathouse and hope you can improve .

Tracy Rae Moore

We had great service for a Christmas party of over 50 people, my drink was filled the whole time, steak was cooked perfect, seafood chowder was delicious. Plus the view is great too

tammy lavallee

Loved the atmosphere! The drinks were great. My friend loved his meal; he had shrimp, oysters and steak. I had 7 oz sirloin. It was too fatty and chewy for my liking, but the veggies and garlic mashed potatoes were great.

Wesley Hartford

Lunch with my ex wife and son, view was wonderful, food was exceptional, service was beyond amazing. Great job, great lunch

Ruben Berta

We had a great meal at the Boathouse. The seafood in my pasta was delicate and cooked to perfection and my husband's steak was perfect. Friendly, attentive staff.

Charie Ginete-Ilon

A restaurant that pretends it's fancy but is actually not even close to fancy. Be ready to pay $$ prices for $ value food. The raspberry chocolate lava cake was great. the other food was... tolerable. Burger had some rotten lettuce on it, I picked it off. Lobster looked really sad, rubbery and gross but tasted fine. I remember them making a mistake on my wifes order but this review is coming a couple months after the visit so I don't remember what it was.

Akshay Kawade

Located along the New Westminster Quay, right along the Fraser River and short walk from the New Westminster Skytrain. One of the few remaining waterfront locations as it seems some of the others have recently closed.

scott currie

The view is spectacular. The food was great and the waitress very friendly and beautiful. Definitely recommend the breakfast there. The quay can get quite busy so leave yourself time to find parking if you go in busy times. Take a walk when done to let the meal settle and take in some of the natural beauty of the Fraser River.

Anthony Lucarino

Went on a weekday for dinner, food took awhile even though it wasn't busy. Food was good. Service was no more than average.

Ruth Proudfoot

Great portion! Very tasty!!

R MD

Service was ok for not being busy Food was horrible, no taste came out cool probably won't be returning to this location again. Ordered the shared platter which says for 3-4 people but honestly I could have eaten the whole thing by myself. Higher prices less food ????

chaminda janaka (Chamin)

This place is actually huge. Prices are reasonable (though high-ish) and the food is generally good. The view, though, is spectacular.

Tortellini G

BOO! 0 for 6 for me at Boathouses. I've been to this one 4 times now, but the Port Moody and Vancouver versions are brutal as well. Food is really bad and always labelled incorrectly - I ordered smoked salmon hash and it came out in soup form. The kids menu puts in no effort - chicken strips heavily caked in batter. Everything lacks flavor, but they make up for it with heavy cream and salt. The only thing worse than the food is the service. I don't know who trains their waiters, but I've never had a meal there where everyone's plate came out at the same time. There is always a lag of 10-30 minutes. Also, people in my groups have complained twice and at two different restaurants (flat beer and under-cooked meat). The waiters argued with them both times. The one saving grace is the prices are really high, so at least you can feel good about paying too much.

Greg Harper

To celebrate a new job, I thought it would be nice to treat my parents to a fancier restaurant. The experience at this Boathouse restaurant was quite disappointing. We won't be returning. The staff seemed quite disorganized and unhappy. No one smiled and our waitress didn't bother checking on our table. We waited for the bread but it never came. Our waitress avoided eye contact so it was quite hard trying to get her attention. When we finally got her attention, our entrees arrived. We asked about the bread and her response was "Oh yea, I'll get that for you." The only time I saw her coming to check on our table, she looked at our table, then at me and walked away. She didn't bother to ask how things were going. I had a hard time getting her attention for the bill too. The only time she smiled was when she brought the bill to us. I was also confused about Boathouse's branding when they were playing top hits loudly. Given the fancier branding, I wasn't expecting to hear Despacito and "Now watch me whip. Now watch me nae nae." while I ate steak and seafood. Overall, pretty disappointed. The price you pay isn't worth the lackluster service and the ok food.

Nazgol Goshtasbpour

My wife, two friends and I visited the boathouse. Our first impression wasn't exactly great. It took a while to get drinks and our food. We were cold as it was early morning and sitting on the patio. It took several inquiries to get the heaters turned on. That being said, once to food and drinks started coming the service very much improved! I was very impressed by the quality of the food and drinks. I was even more impressed by the bill! I was expecting a bill around $150, but after several drinks, an appetizer and two entres, our bill only came to $101! I would very much recommend The Boathouse for a couples date location (beautiful view of the ocean and good atmosphere) or just to even socialize with friends!

Cynthia Su

We had a party of about 30 for our company christmas party. The service was lacking and I can understand that a party that large would be difficult to provide typical service levels but no one asked how the meal was, we had to track down any server to get a 2nd round of drinks, some of our deserts just weren't served, they didn't set out enough tables for the number of seats so we were cramped together and the food was passable at best - stringy steaks, overdone salmon, salads served without dressing. The entire experience wasn't up to their usual standard. It was disappointing for a christmas party. The restaurant itself was beautifully decorated so it felt quite festive at least.

Edward Molinar

Food was decent, however for a pretty low traffic lunch time the service was ridiculously slow.

Abby Cruz

Went for lunch on a Saturday around 1pm. Service was not very attentive and food took a long time. It seemed like maybe they were short-staffed. However when the food did finally come, it was good, especially for the reasonable price. I had the Cod and Chips, and it was pretty good value for three large pieces of fish with some really good thick-cut fries. Typically I'm not in much of a hurry when I go to a restaurant so the wait didn't bother me much.

Aly B. (alykat)

I cannot say the view isn't beautiful and be sure to get reservations for a good spot. Get the clam chowder and the calamari I'd you are looking for appetizers because they are very tasty but it could have more clam in it as most of it is cream but the calamari is just right and not chewy like most other restaurants but the place is beautiful and co.e here on special occasions to make your experience even better.

vincent galano

Decent food, though the salmon is under whelming. New York steak and the fire cracker shrimp are great!

Mauricio

Due to Covid restrictions we went from a party of 9 to a party of 4. It was 1pm and very quiet. Our service was quick and efficient. Covid protocols were all followed and the food was delicious.

nicole miner

Extremely poor service when I was there in the summer.

Steve McCroskey

Micheal was an amazing server. Personable and quick. Food is always delicious here (as it should be for the price) but service isnt so it was nice to have both.

Gee

This was a $60 meal....Uncle Ben's rice, soggy veggies, frothy butter and the smallest 2 lobster tails that have ever been served. If you are looking for a good seafood dinner you'd best go elsewhere.

Chris Deger

Came here for dine out and I got the $40 menu. My favourite part was probably the whisky crab soup. I got the sesame crusted ahi tuna as the main and it was quite dry. Dessert was mocha ice cream pie which was too sweet

Gianna Jules

It was a wonderful atmosphere. The food was well prepared and presented. The were very friendly

Bonny Amor

expensive however the quality is as not as good as Wendy's like the salad and ice cream.

Edward Leung

As other reviews said, this place is very understaffed. We came on a Sunday where the restaurant wasn’t full at all. We ordered an entree and decided to make it a three course with the salad and dessert for 14$. There was 4 of us. If only we had known… that our dinner would be OVER 2 hours with the 3 courses. It took forever for the salad to come, even after we were done the salad, it took over 20 minutes for our main entree to come. The food was overall okay, but to be honest, we were getting full from the salad, the bread and the waiting time. The food was settling into our tummy and we no longer had an appetite. A table next to us, came and sat down after we finished our salad and they left before us! They had an entree and dessert. We are fast eaters and we can only eat as fast as the food comes. Service was just not good, our waters went to empty (nothing left) and we had to prompt our servers for more water. When we were given the machine to pay by credit card, our server was looking at what we were entering in for tip. Not sure if we will be back to this location and if we do, it won’t be for a while at least.

Dan Parent

Nice atmosphere and a unique seafood menu. And of coarse steak!

George Bountalas

Overall food is decent and service is good. Food isn't worth the price though

Elenoa Vakaotia

Good food, ok service, high prices. Think carefully before deciding to done here. And make sure to get seafood!

Lysa the Informal Carer

Fantastic place for parties and celebration! Great service and great food! Highly recommend this place!

Mallika O.

This place is worth skipping. We got the Salmon hash eggs Benedict and the eggs were hard, and the peas still cold. Our table had ketchup stains and the place was empty.

JoMo

Love the food! Great service! Had a fabulous time with the family!

Dorothy Wong

A bit disappointed. For the price we were expecting a lot more. My partner had the crab and lobster ravioli. This is the description: pasta stuffed with lobster & crabmeat, prawns, roasted tomato, spinach & citrus cream. I’m not sure what they think is citrus cream but it’s not the puddle of oil it was sitting in. Small portions, should have accepted the bread they offered. Didn’t think I would need it. Either go to the Kitsilano for the view or go somewhere else altogether.

Joe Griffith

My fiance and I were staying at The Quay last night and went to The Boathouse for dinner. We were seated quickly and when we asked to sit in a different spot since it wasn't that busy they allowed it without question. Our servers name was Shakeel and gave phenomenal service. We had a caesar salad to start and for our main dish i had the steak and king crab legs with mashed potatoes and veggies and my fiance had the lobster tail with mashed potatoes and veggies. Our food came quite quickly and it was all cooked to absolute perfection. I said it then and i still stick to it now, that it was the best meal i have ever had in my life. I had a glass of their house red cab merlot called Tyee and it was a very nice wine as well, especially with my steak. This was a real treat for us and we really look forward to going back. We live in Port Coquitlam and The Boathouse in Port Moody is obviously much closer, but i foresee us taking the extra drive to return to New West and will be requesting Shakeel again. If you get the chance to check it out, i highly recommend you request him as well!!

Karen Anne Donaldson

Acceptable seafood from "flash frozen" and good tasting sour dough bread, but possibly a bit expensive for what you get- you definitely won't steer wrong with any of the fish or shellfish. Extra cost is clearly for location as a clear day would be lovely- alas we picked sheeting rain. Service is extremely slow, but perfectly cheerful.

Bill Tzetzos

Ambience is good, food is decent and so is the service. Haven't been to the place in a long time as parking is different with the new buildings.

Alex

It was alright. Was there for a work function. Christmas lunch. We were a LARGE party, so I understand why the kitchen was swamped and food took a LONG time for some people (despite our small event menu). Service was excellent. View was great. I'd recommend for a good date on a beautiful day.

Anita Tse

This place so far wins the worst resturant i have ever been in to. Food quality is garbage, besides service not being anything special. I cant blame the service much, where the kitchen cant even make simple salad or bring a hot soup. real waste of money. Boathouse at Kits location 1000% better.

C L

Food wasn’t great . Bad quality of crab legs. It smelled awful. Server was nice and offered something else. Very bad experience food wise

Crystal Foss

Service was a little slow however the food was good

Brandon Gasparin

Went there for mothers day today. The worst breakfast I have ever had! ALL the buffet items were cold, and flavorless on top of that. 40$ for eating bacon that was so cold it had solidified fat puddles on it, the eggs were as if they got taken out of the fridge. I was offered a "new plate" but that doesn't change the fact that all the food was cold. My mother and I left incredibly disappointed. I will never cone back here! Also the pastries are dry and stale. Good luck to anybody brave enough to go here.

Michelle Boehner

This place gets a bad rap a lot of the time. It really shouldn't. The food isn't as bad as people make it out to be, the service is always top notch. The biggest issue is the food is overpriced for what you get. The food quality and preparation simply isn't there for what you receive. But it's not bad. I've taken many clients here as it's right on the water and easy to have a private conversation.

Steve from Banff

Brunch was pretty good! Service was quite slow though, despite coming in before the lunch rush.

Arlene Vee

A place for people with who’s stuck eating the same foods since the 80s. First came the lobster bisque. Disappointed there was no lobster or anything in the bisque. Not sure if the bisque was purée or it was from a can. Taste was normal, not great. Lobsters are small and slight over cooked, but had a nice char to it -nothing special. It was served on rice, but the basmati rice is just bland. Also ordered a lobster risotto. Risotto was strange. It had way too much veggies chopped up mixed in with it. The cheese mixed in made the dish greasy and had an odd after taste. All our dishes came warm, not hot, and wasn’t even in a timely manner. Overall, everything was just cooked ordinarily but sub-par. Oh, there is also no free parking. For the cost of their food, there are way better restaurants in the area for half the price. When the server asked how our food was, we told him we were very disappointed. The server didn’t even reply or try to offer anything. He just had no response.

Paul S.

Incredible location. Delicious seafood. Nice wine list choices.

Albert Mann

Great food awful uncomfortable service. Went for a birthday party with half of being servers ourselves. The place was empty so they wanted to close early instead of asking us if we could leave turned on cold air and hoped we left while giving poor service

Lee Ling Tam

Went during dine out Vancouver in January 2016 and they offer their regular menu as well as the dine out. They were great with accommodating our large group and allowed us to do both menus. I had the fish tacos and they were fresh and great. The server was entertaining and he was entertaining too.

Adil Walker-Chagani

Went with my daughter for V-day tonight. We had reservations and made a point of having them early so the place wouldn't be too busy. My kiddo is quiet and respectful and brought chocolates for each staff member that helped us. 1. Our main course was brought out and put on the table while we were in the bathroom, so it was left unattended. We weren't even 1/2 way through our appies 2. My steak and prawns were cold... it got sent back as we weren't ready for it and I dont eat food that was left unattended. I asked the server to please not rush us, this is an expensive dinner and we want to enjoy it. If we were in a rush we would have went to McDonalds 3. Got my meal back after we just BARELY finished our appy. Steak is way over cooked. The server comes up behind me and standing behind me where I cant even see her, asks how everything is. I let her know its overcooked and still cold. I'm not sending it back a second time because I hate wasting food like that and clearly the kitchen isnt going to get it right. I had to eat with a fork and BUTTER KNIFE cause I wasnt even given proper cutlery ???????? 4. Our drinks were NEVER refilled and the server came to the table only 3 times in total. Every time she was BEHIND me where I couldnt see her ???? HUGE WASTE OF MONEY AND TERRIBLE STAFF . The only good one was the food runner

Kayla B.

They think they're so great and its just a normal trash house. Boathouse is not a nice restaurant, it's a corporation of garbage. Dont go.

James Holloway

Boathouse food quality has gone down so much... With the price being higher! I understand with Covid and all, but the food quality was just subpar! My husband and I used to go to Boathouse all the time before Covid and we've noticed the significant change. The portion is smaller, especially the crab stuffed prawns (all you can taste on top of the prawn was panko, didn't have crab, came with 4 pcs as it was 6 before) and the $40 seafood platter! That platter is it worth $40 for the portion you guys give, worth more like $20!! It used to be much bigger!! The food came out cool. Just a big disappointment with Boathouse New West now.

Geraldine Goyer

It was a very nice lunch. Good food and great service.

Sampson Low Real Estate

It was a hot afternoon and we sat on the patio. Nice place to relax, have a drink and enjoy a nice lunch. The service was friendly. The seafood chowder, wild sockeye salmon and mocha choc icecream pie was delicious. The fish & chip was good.

Teya M

Anna G

Superb service and location! Nice patios covered and not over looking the Fraser River, nice interior and very well trained staff and delicious food!

Kaitlin Troy

Nice view of Fraser River at the window

CESAR R

Great service, AWESOME food!!!

Julee Mele

The staff was friendly and our waiter was super nice. Great view too. However, the food was hit and miss . Ordered a dirty Caesar and i couldn’t finish it. It wasn’t dirty and it didn’t taste that good. We ended up sharing a seafood chowder which was superb and well worth the money. The Ahi tuna tacos smelled a little fishy for ahi tuna but tasted fine. The lobster stuffed ravioli was good. The overall experience was decent and we’re glad we gave it a shot.

Kristine R L

Went here for drinks with some friends on Saturday night. All of our drinks were terrible, the honey lemonade was too sour to drink, cucumber gimlet was not good. The quality was seriously lacking. We arrived at 8:30pm for drinks and were told they closed at 10pm. They started closing up the restaurant while we were still there around 9:45 and closing blinds/doing last call. Service was friendly enough but was overshadowed by the poor experience overall.

J W

I attended a company Christmas party here last night.(Dec 1st). Our reservation was made in July, but we still had to wait more than an hour to get seated. It may have been longer. We then sat with no drinks, forever. Repeatedly having to ask for service. Pre-ordered wine for the table was forgotten and required multiple requests to get it. When the food finally came - at 10:40pm!!! — the servers just brought what was ready when it was ready. People were sitting with no food while others awkwardly picked at their meal hoping the rest would arrive. The most egregious part was they didn't care. There was a larger party in ahead of us, and we were told that we would get our food once the other group was out. Not acceptable. Ultimately myself and at least three others suffered gastric issues following the meal. Not recommended, we certainly won't return.

Naeun Kim

The happy hour specials are very tasty well priced, but the service lacks slightly. Had to wait quite some time for our appies and other than " sorry they missed your order " no recognition or we'll give a discount. Very poor.

Vanessa Wolff

Great food and great views plus awesome staff

Trish Mac

Overpriced food with low quality ingredients. We had the eggs benny. The avocado was really really brown and the poached eggs were overdone. The melons that came with the egg benny were very green, crunchy and flavorless.

Mark Lynds

The location directly on the river with outside seating is nice. Its a large restaurant too. Food was ok, decent choice but nothing that made us go wow. Wife had a cocktail, I a vodka martini. Both were just ok as well.

Sarah D.

Patio area is great, especially during the pandemic restrictions. Had the salmon and it was moist, cooked to perfection

Richard spooner

Two times called to have a reservation for my wife birthday. They told me both indoor and outdoor available and I picked outdoor or indoor by window and emphasized it is for my wife birthday. But when we got there, they told us neither outdoor table nor indoor by window is available. The manager told us the outdoor table is soaked but we checked and it was not. Her staff made the mistake and She even didn’t say a simple sorry or apologized for this mess; even didn’t give us a single smile! We drove all the way from Coquitlam and didn’t go to boathouse in Port Moody because I wanted to make a special night for my wife in Westminster riverside but they ruined it. I wish the manager knew the basic of professionalism and tried to make us happy with some nice offers because they made the mistake. We’d had a good experience in Boathouse in Port Moody but this one was really disappointing. We left there and went to another restaurant with very nice staffs and also allowed us to have our birthday cake!

Sandra Brice

Our usual Happy Hour hangout. Cannot beat the ambience, the food quality or the prices!

gord baptist

In my humble opinion, don't waste your time. This restaurant is not what it used to be or even comparable to its counter parts around the lower mainland. The staff is snotty and neglectful, the food is lack luster, and the ambience doesn't exist. I for one will never go back again! This place is a shadow of its former self. Huge disappointment ????

Olivier Martineau

sat down it was dinner time but could only sit on patio or lounge....?? also drinks took 10 to 15 mins to arrive after ordering oysters were sad and not prepared properly.. no bread or buns for starters... didnt have the dish in stock that i wanted.. service was horrible... food was either cold or badly prepared... worst meal i had in 2018... never going to new west boat house again.normally i never have a reason. not too impressed!

vivian chan

Food was decent, but three hours in here and I'm still waiting on my cold dessert...its been 50 minutes since I finished my entree, that I waited an hour for... Still waiting here...

Tom Bellamy

A nice place, would be ideal to provide free parking. I ordered a medium grilled sirloin of 7 oz. There is quite a bit of room for improvement for the steak even though though the mashed potato and vegetables tasted very good. First of all, the steak was over burnt, a bit too much “carbon chips” on the surface of that piece of steak; second, blood was running out of the steak when cutting it.

Steven Audia

The food was excellent. Our server Michael was a complete professional. The timing of the courses out of the kitchen was perfect. We will definitely be back.

Laurence Malley

The seafood is not bad if you're in the mood for it. But the other review about their "uncle Ben's rice" had me ???????????????? because it's true.

Perceus Green

The happy hours and appetizers are really worth it. We tried the Oysters were really really good by far the best I have ever tried. I gave it 4 star just because I didn’t try the other food.

Ardele Warren

Servic…

Dale Mcphie

Horrible service. Also like sitting in a cheap casino buffet. Hostess staff are the worst. Don't know how to take a reservation. Avoid this place.

Jon Mata

The food was superb, especially the seafood chowder and the salmon. Even the cheaper, "casual" plates were nice, like the Fish tacos or coconut shrimp. It is pricy though.

Michael Schwartz

Great dining experience have never had a bad one at this location. Our way to was fabulous I wish I could remember his name.

chef beth

Went for a work dinner, the service was good, it wasn't too loud, nice view, and the food was delicious. Had a group 4 course menu with sweet chilli chicken and calimari to start, then a salad, then the cedar salmon (which was great!) And the creme brule for desert (also great).

colette chudyk

Amazing food, ambience and service. Will definitely be dining here again!

Brandon Dean

Good food but my family member got sick after!

Sihan G

I was staying at the Inn at the Quay next door and stopped into the lounge for a quick bite. The lounge has a happy hour menu open to close all week long. Only in the lounge. I ordered the house oysters - Royal Miyagi along with the appetizer Caesar salad and coconut shrimp with a 9 oz glass of wine. The salad was excellent - and I normally hate restaurant Caesar salad but this had enough garlic and umami. The coconut shrimp were somewhat small, and only four, but very well prepared and the mango salsa was a perfect accompaniment. The service was quick and efficient!

Jason Dhatt

Best burger I've ever had. My lunch date also enjoyed the chicken burger. Excellent service.

Judy Thompson

Typically good food & service so we decided to go for our anniversary. We walked in, it was early afternoon with no staff around. No host at stand, no bartender, no servers. We waited a few minutes and no one came to seat us. We had to walk around and yell out to get someone's attention. Although the server apologized it would have been nice to hear from a manager as well. Really disappointing experience.

P Amador

Great lunch served by KC! So very attentive as we had our mom with us. Total of 4 at the table and we shared the seafood platter as an appetizer. We raved about it. Did the full meal with seafood clam chowder to start. Lobster Ravioli x 3 and the Cod/veggies/rice bowl. All of us had the creme brulee to finish. Fabulous fill for four! Well done Boathouse! We hope to be back soon.

Martha Lo

Very rude staff. When I said my food was dry and cold and beer was flat they took it away while my friends ate and never brought me anything else though I asked about food repeatedly. Pretty embarassing.

Chaser Stone

Kelly and the bar staff were great to interact with. Was saying here for work and it was a nice place to eat seafood and have some very good drinks. Slower during the week, nice and busy on the weekends. Great patio.

Will Davis

My wife and I took our first holiday in a couple of year we booked a room at the quay for a few days we were looking forward to a fresh sea food meal at the boathouse on our final night. We went to the boathouse at 2pm to have a drink and reserve a table for our evening meal as well as a table we wanted our server was very nice and said she would reserve that table for us. When we returned at 7:30 that evening for our supper the table we wanted was taken and we were told they only reserve tables for VIP. The manager was called but was very rude and could care less. We left and never to be back since than I have read many reviews that were not happy. So maybe it was a good thing it saved us a couple hundred dollars

Marg P

Never disappointed at the boathouse at Westminster Quay. The place to enjoy great seafood with great service at reasonable prices. Situated on the edge of the Fraser river

Diego Kane

Decent food, but over priced and slow service. There are much better seafood restaurants around.

Xiomara Guevara

service bad. We sat outside there over 20 minutes after ordering our lunch and no information updated with no more water while it was a hottest day. The waitress disappeared . At last, our lunch were ready. The main course ( seafood something)looked like a small snack. This is the worst boathouse I visited. I visited boathouse at beach ave, Vancouver, white rock , richmond. Those restaurants were good.

Cole Westersund

This place is awesome! Yummy food! Staff are great and very accomodating! On my best resto to go to list! Cheers!

Ben Kendall

Great place for love birds lol

Gitanjali Arora

The online happy hour drink menu is outdated and the prices are incorrect. The happy hour food menu doesn't have much of a good selection and the prices are not happy hour friendly. The yam fries and salad were good they had a nice presentation. There's a view of the Fraser river, which was nice. Parking is not the greatest, it's located in the underground. The signage is not clear indicating where parking is. The entrance/exit on both sides to the parkade is questionable. The server didn't like her job? She was rude, barely attended our table and at the end had a real attitude out of nowhere. Bad service! I don't think I'll return.

John Mckenzie

Food are awesome, service are excellent, we always go there for my birthday :)

Wade Murray

Reason for two star is based upon the price of the food for the quality as well as the service here at the boat house . First visit here the inside and decor is nice . The menu for the quality of the food for price is not good . 17.49 for a calamari with poor portion size as well as being very oily and salty was not worth the price . West coast seafood express was ok but not worth the price . Tasted like you could have gotten the same quality at a grocery store and could have gotten it cheaper so was nothing special . Pacific fish n chips 23.49 Again not worth the price . It tasted ok little oily on my plate . Portion size very small. Service was fair but not good. Waited a while to make a order and to get drink refills . Didn’t seem we were a priority to the server as it wasn’t busy when we arrived and left as well from 6:30 to 7:45 was dead just 2 other customers inside the boathouse . I believe the boat house can approve by reading this . Hopefully they can take this criticism and turn it into something positive . Price of the bill 67.87 definitely not worth it and will not go back again until changes are made .

michele egglestone

Meh. Wife had the fish and chips, which were actually really excellent, but the rest of my party of 4 was underwhelmed. I had a special with lobster ravioli, but was not impressed at all.

jess . 2006 ahna

Liked the atmosphere, service, but most food was not local; being a prairie boy that was visiting it was confusing and a let down - the Pacific Cod was actually Atlantic Cod??? Locally sourced mussels were great!

Cindy Jack

Food is wonderful!

Harwood

The food here is very good. Flavourful and well presented. Service was prompt and courteous. Parking is confusing and detracted from the overall experience. Asked for clarification upon arrival and the hostess said she’d find out...no one did and though I paid, I found a ticket on my car because there are two lots in the same area downstairs!

Kristina Nielsen

Should really consider firing Dennis Velasco & Jeremy Wu for their mistreatment of staff, constant disrespectful attitude & lack of culinary knowledge. They are a disgrace to the culinary arts & an embarrassment to the Boathouse Restaurant.

shiraz thobani

Great view of the water from our patio seating. The food was great. It was a bit busy when we arrived, our food took a bit longer to be served. We loved our lunch and time by the water.

cindy Ruhl

This Restaurant has a good atmosphere with Fraser river view. Unfortunately, they have a short menu to choose. If they could expand the menu with more choices, this will be better.

J GM

The food was good. I always enjoy the fresh oysters here and the service is fast and efficient

Nikhil C

I don't like fish, but this was absolutely delicious! They put care into each flavour and the ingredients taste fresh.

Lei Agnew

I had great breakfast test excellent very good size.

Terry Sharpe

Was incredible. Had sirloin and snow crab. Unbelievably good crab. Steak was about a 7/10. My wife had BBQ platter. Was amazing as well. Good wine list as well.

Stefan

The fish tends to be on the dry side at this establishment. Even if not overdone on the grill, the seafood may just be frozen too many times or for too long... appies tend to be great. The server was very kind to offer a chilled glass for a bottled beer I ordered. The glass had a bit of a detergent smell to it. Steak and lobster dinner I had during another visit was similarly okay, but definitely not necessarily up to the $$$ due to it's averageness. Most of the value is in the view and decor here, unfortunately.

Laraina Murphy

Good: Patio✔ Drinks✔ Bad: Service - maybe because of pandemic Service was non enthusiastic, to say the least. Food - for that price mediocre at best. Calamari was very dry.

a z

Great place but it is not cheap. Reservations should be made because they have a lovely patio close to the river in the New West place. The lobstor is awesome and so is the Miso Halibut. Excellent service and there is a well stocked bar. I usually go to celebrate special ocassions. Be prepared to shell out serious money. I just think it is so worth it to create lovely memories. One can go for a walk along the river and just enjoy nature and peace. The chocolate lava cake is enough to feed 4 people. Enjoy Folks!!

JT CW

Terrible service, long wait for the food, and i am vegetarian and they recommended a stirfry, and then were only 4 types of veggies. And it was good at all.

Anna Haglof McCallum

Great food, friendly staff, safe & clean

Michael R.

Whenever I have reserved a window seat table for a special occasion they always sit us at the corner table by their walk in freezer. It is loud and staff are constantly walking in and out of it. It completely ruins the occasion!

Ming Louie

Food was good but the portions were a bit small. Had a nice window seat overlooking the water

Ricardo Rodrigues

A very pleasant evening to be sitting out on the terrace and enjoying the view. Friendly staff.

Rickey Campbell

Described in one word "vulgar" here's a little more detail, ordered a couple cocktails from the menu, the picture looked great but I was swindled once again. That wasn't the only problem the waiter was indifferent and I generally got the impression that all the staff are unhappy working there. As for my dinner it took 3 attempts to actually cook a medium steak medium! This place is now on the black list I would avoid at all costs.

Ayman Latif

The service was good, nothing spectacular. I ordered a salad and I expected a large salad considering the price but boy was I ever wrong. Small portions for sure. My friends also had small portions for big price. I will not be coming back unless it’s happy hour.

a m

Great costumer service the food it's amazing!! My new favorite restaurant in the lower mainland.

Tylor Marshall

The service is very poor, the portions are not value for money, the taste was disappointing and worse, their AC is not working. Not recommended at all.

Kirstin

Great food and excellent service

Gee Ewing

Dinner

J Chow

Drinks are good. The food quantity is fair for the price, however, the taste is not as good as I expected. Service did not start out well with our first server and suddenly our server changed without letting us know which is different from previous restaurant experiences.

Anmol Gill

The tuna taco appie was amazing, service was good i was with 3 friends i had the miso halibut and it was great my friends had the steak, and the didn't cook it right. We let the waiter now and just continue eating instead of sending it back, she ended up giving us a free dessert, overall the food was good, friendly staff, view amazing.

Chris Dinunzio

Service is always exemplary. Steaks are always perfect. This particular location features a peaceful view of the Fraser River and the wooden promenade, which is pleasant to enjoy from their dockside eating areas. Inside, really not a bad seat in the house with both a lounge area and formal dining area. The price point is reflective of the quality and I would feel is appropriate. Hands down one of my favourite places for a special dinner.

Hanna Do

Went during pandemic times, what I saw of the place was clean and welcoming. Lovely view of the water. Staff were friendly and efficient, had both physical menus as well as the option of scanning with QR codes. Food was delicious, although for the price I expected bigger portions.

Jillian Byrne

The view from the restaurant overlooking the Fraser River is very awesome. However the waitress was lazy. Her boss caught her in the lounge taking a break. The manager had to take our order. Keep in mind the restaurant was quiet. No one there practically. No excuse for sloppy service. The rest of the staff was helpful.

Jamie Henderson

Took them 20 minutes to finally take are order broung us dirty glasses of water took over a hour to bring are food the porshions where small even with ordering extra yaim fries plus my meal spent 1.5 hours there and still needed more food wasn't waiting another hour for more food wories service and the food not that good

big pun

Don't expect more than tolerable from this chain. You are paying for the decor and service. I had the lobster and steak. The steak was cooked as ordered but the lobster meat was mushy, which means it's nearly spoiled. They used to have some decent happy hour specials but have eliminated those. I see no reason to patronize this joint. Came here for Dineout recently and had their $40 menu. It is grossly overpriced for the quality of food they serve.

Danny Huang

The service was horrible. 10min waiting at the front door to be seated, 10 more to get menus and water, and an hour to get our food. No water refill. No offer for a second drink. No check in to see how the food was. And the place was probably at 20-30% full. This was for lunch on a Saturday. Definitely never going back.

Payman Hojabrpour

Really amazing food, especially the bread. The waiter was great too. 10/10 would recommend

Annette M

My husband and I just enjoyed a lovely Valentine's Day dinner here. They had a special menu with a variety of 3-course options. Both the prime rib and steak were excellent, as well as the chowder we had as a starter. A special thanks to Ivan, our server, who was very friendly and helpful!

Grant Smith

Nice view satisfactory food but not the best service unlike it's counterparts in other Vancouver locations...

Amy Reese

June 23. Fantastic meal! We both had the 9oz steak basted in garlic shallot butter. Was done to perfection for both of us. Med well and medium rare. It was mouth watering. So tender and soft. Charred to perfection. Great flavor. It was sad to have the last bite. Every bite you wanted to go back for more. It came with a potatoe mash that was creamy and paired so well with the steak. The roasted carrots and squash were cooked perfectly. Not mushy not too hard. It was a superb meal. I want to go back today!. The meal was adequately priced. 2 people 2 fantastic meals. It did not sit heavy. 69.00. We came home to our apt. In New Westminster and made everyone we told drool. I'm sure there will be more coming to you for steak from our building. The service couldn't have been any better. Our waitress was very kind and friendly and made sure we were enjoying our meal. THANK YOU FOR A FANTASTIC MEAL YVONNEANSTEY@GMAIL.COM

Bev Nicholls

Their burger is amazing, great taste and texture. The real show stopper was their fries. The perfect blend of soft middle and light crunchy coating was superb! Will come back for both! The steak Oscar was also really good but man oh man that burger and those fries...

Shaun Sullivan

Amazing Sangria, selection of wine. We Had a nice table with a water view of the pier. Over priced but nice atmosphere, friendly staff and great ambience.

Mark Andrei

Food is consistently great! Welcome to Sam their new server ????

Amy Gremm

Love the selection, the service is OK and the location on the beach is wonderful. It's just not a great experience and there are so many better restaurants for the money.

Artiom Bogatyriov

Good service but I really don’t feel the seafood is “fresh” - tastes frozen. Prices are high but the service and views are good. The place is a bit run down in my opinion.

Helen Eng

Me and my family regularly come to this place. During the last few visits, i have noticed a considerable drop in the food quality and taste. Its no longer the same. We waited for a really long time for our meal last time and the food when arrived was terribly cooked, neither fresh nor hot. To make the visit worse, our server didnot once arrive at our table to ask how the food was. The service was very slow and unsatisfactory. Disappointed....

Amna K

Mediocre food at best for a large price tag. Quality isn't on par with other Boathouse restaurants. Everything was overcooked (lobster, cod, and salmon). Seriously, spend your money somewhere else.

Katie Zaharik

Choder normally not hot enough. Best Caesar salad!

Dannicah Salazar

The Boathouse is great place, I was here only 4 times, now I can say “that’s one of my favorite places in New West”. Food and service was veeeery good)

Mereille Kay

Brunch service not acceptable Attitude from the waitress, eggs were not cooked as requested. Very disappointing meal especially for the price payed.

Adam Roerick

All day happy hour menu in the New Westminster and Richmond location! I don't need to wait for specific times during the day and can just go anytime :-)

Angela Narayan

Nice view, relaxed atmosphere. I ordered halibut tacos, they were alright, but not great so I didn't even finish them. Sangria was good though. Not too impressed with food, but overall experience is pretty good.

Xforcet Rainee

Friendly waitresses and waiters, lovely patio and great cocktails and food

WK

We use to go to the boathouse as a treat for the family. I we were really looking forward to dining there..but our views of this place were absolutely shattered. The food wasn't at all what it use to be. My wife's steak was well done vs. medium rare. Lamb shank was tender but over spiced with Rosemarie. Ceasar salad had very little dressing..the service was terrible....l will not be ever going back, the experience was terrible.

CHIUCHONG WONG

Not impressed. Staff was rude and not accommodating. For the price we paid here the service was sub par.

Ryan Stevens

Lovely spot on the water. Good food..would have liked to see more choices for happy hour.

Eve Croft

Steak was over priced and not very good. We were served a bad oyster; when the waitress asked how it was and we told her she said, "that's too bad" and walked away - didn't address it at all. Clearly a poorly run establishment. The location is the only nice thing about it, and thus two stars and not just one.

Julie Pickford

Service is good, food is good, maybe a little pricy for the quality. Great view. Patio could be nicer though. I prefer the bar as opposed to the dining room as it is cosier (fireplace) and less formal.

S. Hornibrook

I usually love coming here. The food is always good. However I found the service lack luster last visit. We made a reservation asked for a window, but not by the kitchen. That's where they tried to put us. They forgot my birthday cake, and when we moved to a window we were told to move. Eventually they found us a window seat, and finally took our order. Did I mention they forgot my birthday cake.

Michael Hooks

Don't bother with the $50 mothersday buffet. The bennies are cold from the warmers, the omley station eggs are poured from a carton and tbe waffels are stale cold and spongy. Very disappointed to say the lest.

Aaron Wylie (average_britishcolumbian)

Had an amazing crab and lobster stuffed ravioli with spinach, tomatoes and citrus. This dish is so good I hope you get a chance to try it too! The staff here are so warm and inviting as Well! Thank you!

curt s (Curt)

Food was good. Service was disappointing. Found a hair on my plate, underneath my butter for my vegetables, gross. Management handled it satisfactory. Meh won't be going back

M R

Our service was friendly and swift, and the meal was top notch. The view of the river is also spectacular. Things are a bit pricey, but the portions are just right.

Anne O

Overall the service was awful. It took forever for drinks to come. Took for ever for our appetizers to come. We asked for water twice and still had to get it our selves from the bar. We had to send the bruschetta back because it was rock hard. We gave the server 6 gift cards he came back saying we only gave him 5, when questioned he mysteriously found it right away. Next time I will spend my money at Piva. I live close to the boathouse and I now remember why we don't go.

C Tsang

They keep the boats outside. The food is great though.

Chris Lamb

I went to the Boathouse, on a week night. I was with my girlfriend and we were looking to have a nice dinner. When we first walked in, there was no one to great us at the door. Eventually, a server came over and asked us if we would like the restaurant side or the lounge. When we asked to sit on the restaurant side, the server seemed to be visibly upset. Turned out we were sitting in her section. Maybe she was tying to finish work early...... By the time our sever eventually came back to take our drink order and then the drinks actually arrived, it was over 30 minutes. All night, we felt like we were looking around and trying to flag down a server or anyone to help us place orders for drinks, food, and also to receive our bill. Overall, terrible experience. The food was way overpriced and did not taste very good. More importantly, the service was dreadful. I have been to this restaurant one time before and it was a similar experience. I would highly recommend to not visit this place. You will be disappointed.......promise.

Bryan Padula

This can be a very nice restaurant but they are building a high rise next to it so it's very noisy and parking is limited. Also the price to park went up. Menu has been the same for the last 4 years. Come one change it up. Staff and service also has declined maybe good wait staff left because of decline I clientele.

Tomas Raul Lopez Cardenas

Lovely place to go with friends, family even a date night. Beautiful view, good food, fair price, good customer service. No doubt a good place to eat when in New Westminster.

Fred Keiner

Very nice ambient, good foot

Jeff W.

Almost like in fast food.

Mariena Bui

Quiet, relaxing atmosphere and nice view of the mighty Fraser River. Surprisingly, the steak is one of the best menu options! Perfectly grilled to order, with seasonal veggies and parmesan mashed potatoes... Yummy! Salmon was over cooked and dry,, which is a cardinal sin for a fish place. The seafood pasta and shrimp options were excellent.

William Jackson

There was not a lot of people, the food took forever to come and it only tasted ok. Parking was also super expensive.

Shannon

Often the service is poor but not this time. Food and service were great but a little pricey.

Zencc “zenzcc”

We had Christmas lunch today with my co-workers. I order Blackened Cod with mango sauce and Jamaican spices. The fish itself was very tasty, but the roasted potato was so under cooked, I could barely cut it, not to mention it tasted crunchy and raw. As I did not want to hold any of my co-workers back time wise and look for the manager, I decided to leave this review. Thank you

Jacqueline Munro

Ahi Tuna Taco appetizers are super good. Pacific Cod Fish and Chips were filling, but nothing to write home about (unless home is a Google Review).

Nadima Ahmadi

One of our favourite places If you can't get a seat in the do I g room can always sit over in the lounge area and still order from the full menu...overlooking the river so get a spot by the window Parking is a problem especially while the construction is ongoing

Blaire Ryoo

Everything went ok. Maybe that day the service was slow for it was Early.

Zarena Pash

The food is top notch . Prepared excellently. Delicious.

David Reeves

The food and the staff are incredible.our Appraisal school stayed at the Inn on the Quay, and all loved the Boathouse as well Hotel highly recomend both

Adam Wood

Good location and easy parking. Service was excellent however food was nothing special and seemed overpriced for the portions.

Amrita R.

my bf and i went to this restaurant on Christmas eve. we ordered 3 course meal with seafood chowder for starter and creme brulee for dessert. first of all we had to wait more than 40 mins for starter and another 30 mins for main dish. I would not mind the wait if the food were good. both the starter and main dish were slightly cooled off. on top of that I found a piece of plastic inside the mashed potato in the main dish. when I mentioned to the server she went to get the new dish but without an appolgy. she just said she will grab a new one. (honestly the "new dish" was the old dish with just a bit of reassembling). during the whole dinner, server did not come for drink refill. The food was horrible as well as the service. we paid for 2 hour parking but had to extend that to 4 hr since we had to wait so long between the meal. Definitely not $102 worth of food or service and I would only recommend this restaurant to those who I hate.

V C

Had the 3 Course (Seafood Chowder - Baby Back Ribs - Mocha Ice Cream Pie) Meal. Food and service were great.

jake power

The food was okay. Understanding that doing plate service for large parties has its own specific challenges, it's hard to fault small things like fish being slightly overdone. Service was lacking, three large parties booked in for a Saturday night in December and it seemed like they were staffed for a Tuesday in March. I would give them another try as a smaller group on a quieter night

Joe Look

I took my wife here for a date night recently & I will definitely come back again. My wife had the tuna pokè bowl w the clam chowder to start & creme brulee for dessert, I had a medium rare steak & lobster which was perfectly cooked and absolutely delicious. I tried some of the pokè bowl & I don't regret getting the steak BUT....that tuna was amazing w everything else mixed together w it. I also had 2 of the Mango Mohitos which were sweet, but full of Mango & mint flavor. Our waiter was also very good, he didn't bother us & he was on top of it when one of us wanted another drink. Costco has gift cards that can save you a little money & it's a great place to celebrate something or just to have a nice night out w the Mrs.

HII HOWRYA

The view is spectacular but the service lagged and they forgot a few items. The medium rare steak is good but not melt in the mouth good. The firecracker shrimp and sweet chilli chicken though are delicious appies! The tequila sunrise could use a stir before serving. Overall would visit again.

Tyson Longworth

Looked like a nice place. Wonderful decor. Some very pleasant staff. Sadly the waitress our group had was completely absent minded. She asked once what we wanted. Ordered drinks. Never once checked back on us. Never once offered a menu or even a chance to order. Even had to go up to the bar for a refill and the bartender didn't seem to care. More so about counting tips. We were a group of 5. There were 17 people in the entire place including ourselves. So not overly busy

Davin Gable

From the start the service was very courteous met with an inviting smile. Well done. Walked in and chose a spot with the view....the view... huge setting overlooking the Fraser, opens the appetite right up. Drinks were a pleasure, awkward at first when I asked for a recommendation on their local assortment of on tap beer. Turns out the recommendation was appropriate and enjoyable. In my signature fish and chips test, I found the Cole slaw to be old and bland to my taste. The chips, go big or go home. Not home cut but well seasoned. Fish, nicely done. A tad over battered but delicious. Lastly, the tartar sauce. The only thing I had in mind when I indulged was... oh my they mustn't have tasted it before sending it out. It was over seasoned and infused with fresh herb that doesn't belong there. I give this meal and experience an overall 4 stars simply because there is no 3.5 star, and there was more merit for a 4 rather than 3 stars. Excellent customer service, respectable yet basic presentation, slight seasoning issues(to my palate), but overall the Boathouse passes my fish and hips test. Thanks for the relaxed Sunday afternoon. I'll be back later this week for some crab.

Jennifer J

Extremely bad service and I got extremely sick from the oysters and so did my bf! There oysters are not fresh they tasted like rotten tuna

David Earl

Food was excellent, waiter was attentive, polite and friendly Social distancing was very good as well, overall a great experience.

John Morris

Normally I’m pretty happy with the food and service here but today was disappointing. My daughter and I have lunch here every week and usually have a wonderful time. Hostess had us waiting and didn’t greet us at all as she was busy with something (I understand if you’re busy but you should always acknowledge the customers), she also didn’t check if I was vaccinated. She was seating us outside without asking us first (we always sit inside). Our server took awhile to get to us and helped a table first that arrived after us. There was no quality check, I had to wave down the hostess for help. Part of our order was missed. It was just overall disappointing service and it wasn’t busy at the restaurant. I most likely will not continue having my weekly lunch date with my daughter here. It was a one off moment today but has me put off going forward. It’s a shame. I will probably get an automated response to my review. Looking at all the reviews of customers who had a negative experience and the response from the restaurant is exactly the same for each review. All these comments of bad service is well received. Perhaps have a human respond to these reviews and not a copy and paste response. Just saying…

cynthia kwan

beautiful restaurant and well located, with a wonderful view of the quay, during the pandemic you may sit on the patio, the service has dropped a bit of quality, the food and options at the menu are very good but expensive.

Braydon Gilkes

Long overdue for renovations. The staff are great and so is the view but the menu is too expensive for what you get. Parking very expensive too.

Rhonda Sterritt

My husband and I went there for our anniversary. The service was great. We shared a crab dip which was really good. I ordered the mixed seafood grill which sounded great, but when I got it the salmon was under seasoned, undersized and slightly overcooked. I got only 2 prawns and 1 measly but delicious scallop on my skewer, as well as only 2 crab stuffed prawns where I barely detected any crab meat. Not enough seafood for the price. The wild rice was under seasoned, but the veggies were perfectly done with just enough garlic. My husband ordered the cod and chips. He was not impressed with the batter because it was too hard and the fries were not fresh cut. The coleslaw was also way too bland. The only nice part about his dish was the actual small amount of fish inside the hardened batter which was nice, moist and perfectly flaky. Our waitress was very polite and attentive. Overall, this is why I give this review an extra star. The food is not outstanding for the price that they charge. We just came back from the east coast and the portions and quality to food price ratio leaves a lot to be desired.

Michael Wilkinson

Had a birthday party here it was not super busy and they let us do the appy hour outside of the bar area at our table. Bring your wallet ot can get pricey with a drink or two

Nicola Collins

restaurant's food is full of "sweet" food. mango salsa, sweet walnuts, coconut shrimp, sweet chili, etc. 2 out of 3 guys I know, like myself, cannot stand when chef's add sweetness to food. Save it for dessert! that's not why the bad review though. I went there a couple of hours ago, told I could sit at the patio and tie my dog up... then I was told I couldn't tie our dog to the patio, then not the posts, then not a tree (it was their tree in advance)... The waitress was really nice and apologized as she didn't know the rules. Anyway, we had to leave... the prices are expensive for what you get. I was going to order a couple of dozen oysters = $76, bottle of wine, two appies, caeser, and a couple of entre... Figure it would have been near $300 after tax and tip... The place is expensive for a good but not great restaurant.

nicole michelle

Good food and nice location, but very slow to get your food in my experience.

dave kilner

I liked our waitress but she forgot about my drink for 20 minutes and never checked on how our meal was. I ordered the mixed seafood grill. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. It was overpriced for the size and was extremely bland. My date was kind enough to switch meals halfway through. He ordered the seafood ravioli. That was good.. had a little kick, was flavourful. Don't know if I'll return to this location even though the view is nice.

Kevin McAllister

Breakfast was meh but a nice view. The place was a bit dirty and I had to wipe off my own seat before sitting down. The quality was not quite at the level of Denny's but they give you Kraft strawberry jam and ketchup to make it tastier. Couldn't taste the chicken or apple in the Chicken and Apple Omlet which was weird. Looked super fancy in there so I was surprised at the low quality food. When I asked the host prior to sitting down about the quality of the food she said, "It is the Boathouse" and now I know what that means.

IVA

Stayed at the Inn next door and decided to have dinner here. Food is absolutely good. But the problem is the service. The first server just showed up but we were not yet ready to order. Then she never show up again in the next 10-15 minutes. The place is like 30% full only and not see why she's so busy. Finally another waitress served our table.

Sonny D

Decent food.. large space that can accommodate large parties.. use gift cards from Costco for extra value.. Parking is expensive though.

Najjemba Sheilla

Great service and great atmosphere! I love coming here for good seafood dishes.

Lia Brown

Excellent dinner and a wonderful host by the name of Micheal. Great time for a dinner with my mom before her trip back home. The crab legs tasted like they were just caught and were a real delight. Butter could have been hotter but it did not diminish the dinner one bit.

Caddy Kuzyk

The restaurant is located in the perfect spot! The view is really nice. The setting is excellent. My burger was good. Service was a bit spotty. Overall our experience was really good.

Tyler Morris

iThe prices are way too high for the amount and quantity of food you receive, but the service was good that is why I gave them 3 stars. It seems that they are trying to be a fine dinning restaurant, but they are more like a over priced Earls with extra seafood on the menu... I drop this down to 2 stars because friends and family said I was being too generous...

totaleducation

Cool place, delicious meals, good customer service

Sian Odhiambo

About 20 years ago, all of the Boathouse restaurants used to dominate the best beachfront properties, so they could get away with charging a bit more than the competition for comparable food (think a seafood-heavy Milestones, Cactus, Earls, etc.) Zn and having somewhat snooty service. Now with the range of choices that can offer similar or better views, the Boathouse just feels snooty for the sake of snootiness. Service isn't particularly friendly, and it has a 'better than you' feel to it. They have good food. I've never had lousy food there, but it's just good - nothing to justify the bump in price to the competitors, and the service is average, with a clearly snobby undertone. I'll won would the Boathouse, but I'm not going to go out of my way to return.

Luigi Pulice

The tuna poke bowl is amazing! Was a bit of a wait to get food/drinks but friendly staff.

mo broo

We ate here a few times during our stay. The breakfast and dinners were excellent. Very flavourful. We enjoyed each staff member we had contact with. They were friendly and courteous and had a sense of humour.

John M Cotton

Had a great corporate event on the boat. Staff was nice and friendly. The boat was pretty old-fashioned. The food was amazing. The drinks were ok.

Monique Geary

I've been here before, and yes, there are not enough servers as ours was hard to find, and really not very attentive probably because he was busy elsewhere. The thing I found horrific was after waiting SOOO long for food, you get your $35 meal to find everything luke (and I mean barely) luke warm. Last thing I'm doing is sending it back to wait another hour but THAT is really poor in a restaurant charging $35 a plate. I'm sadly disappointed enough that I won't go there again.

L A

Excellent crab, very good service (Tyler), scored a great table overlooking the Fraser. A wonderful Sat. Night!

Sheyna Lehal

Good food. Nice staff. Service was slow but they apologized with a free slice of cake so it's all good.

Chris W

They advertised a special buy an entree and get a kids meal for .99cents. The email did not state that happy hour was excluded. To top it off nowhere on the menu does it have the words "entree". How would anyone know what counts as an entree without the words visible. Needless to say I was changed $12.00 for my daughter's kids meal after I pointed out the false advertising and the lack of wording on the menu. Disappointing service too. The waitress took 10 minutes to ask me what drink. I'd give zero stars if I could. For the Boathouse it was not the service I expected.

Ziwen Yao

Loved it. Great staff, great food, great wine! Celebrating my nephew's birthday during dine out Vancouver time also made it a great value evenig. Thanks New Westminster Boathouse!

Suzanne Aoun

Delicious Exceptional service Well worth the price

Emad Sharifi

Great food, great service. Lovely birthday lunch for my son.

Golden Pederson

Haven't been to a boathouse in a long time since we no longer live close to one, but always had good memories of the blackened swordfish. Understandably it's now Tilapia but still pleased and had familiar taste. ???? With new addition of mango salsa which paired well with the shrimp. My son had sesame encrusted ahi tuna. Was tasty as well. Drinks were good. The appetizers were just average. Overall good experience!

Chewbacca Kaboom

Great happy hour drinks and appies and a wonderful location. Staff always friendly.

Raman Chohan

This was a nice visit. The staff did a great job of caring for us and the salmon was better than in previous visits. The chefs have upped their game.

Melody Xiao

Went to this restaurant for a bowl of soup. The mushroom soup would have been good with much less pepper. Pepper dominated the flavour. Kudos for excellent Covid protocol.

Nathan 604

Absolutely HORRIBLE for what is supposed to be a superior dining experience. For a seafood restaurant, it didn't have much in the way of fresh seafood choices, and the prices were ludicrous! $145 four drinks and two lousy appetizers. $70 four drinks and three generous appetizers ( at the pub next door) Oh and walking through the doors, made it seem like you time traveled to the late 60s early 70s if you are to be fooled by the decor. I'm sorry Boathouse.... NEVER AGAIN!

A Google User

I been in this few times with friends since I move in to. NEw Westminster on May 2018. The staff are ok just ok And they need to practice a bit of connecting to customer service happy and bubbly approach. A big place but mostly empty all the time. Food service is fast, very easy to find Nd convenient for parking. Such a view and near beautiful restaurant
