This Fish Shop corresponds to the category of Chinese restaurant.
A mom pop shop. A decent and fair priced for dim sum.
Tofu and spring roll are great
Decor could be better but good food and good prices!
Have only gone for dim sum, multiple times. Good price, great food, excellent staff.
Good place to go for some solid dim sum. Friendly service and decent portion size. The Singapore vermicelli was terrific.
Hidden Gem.. shhhh
The prices for dimsum are on the high end side of things (6.50 a plate). I would not have an issue with this if the place was modern and renoed. But it still looks like 1980 inside so i will have to knock off 1 star. I have had ever so slightly better food at golden swan but this quality here is good.
Regularly dinner location for me to enjoy some HK style Chinese food in the neighborhood, can't really stand the westernized ones Nice to go for dim sum during the weekend but gotta go early else will be too packed for seats once its noon
Great dim sum location, large variety, good food and good service. They have larger tables able to seat approximately 10 people, and a few smaller tables for 3-4. Small restuarant though so if it is busy there could be some trouble moving around.
Great little family-run neighbourhood place for dim sum, lunch or dinner!
I have ordered a few times from spring garden and have always been very happy with the food and service. The food arrived quicker than expected and was fresh and delicious every time. The staff is super friendly, you can tell they are a lot about their business.
We ordered from here based on these reviews and it was terrible. Everything you don't want Chinese food to be, full of MSG, medium warm and the containers had an abundance of the Chinese mystery fluid. I will never order there again. - Edited from here on to respond to their comments below - We did ask for no MSG, but it still had MSG and eating in as a response to why the food arrived luke warm would be a legitimate response if I lived more than 3 blocks from your restaurant. The expectation from a customer is to get good food at a decent temperature the way we ordered it...which was with no MSG. Sorry you won't be selling me any food ever again.
Great food and service!
Good food decent size portions friendly service. Dim sum! My chow fun noodles were overcooked
Different dishes similar ingredients...taste bad at least from the perspective of Chinese.
Love love the dimsum here. Reasonably priced and the owner is super nice. Totally recommended.
Just a small family trying to keep a business going. The few times I’ve been, it was just myself. The wife out front serving and the husband in the back cooking. Dim sum has always been good here. The family is very humble and very attentive. Their son has helped out a few times too. I would definitely come by again next time I’m in the area
Makr food id hot
Quoted from my son "food is delicious. The people who work here are very nice and super friendly. And I love coming here. I would totally recommend Spring Garden!" We lose the dinsum. Ginger beef and Crispy pepper chicken chow mein is out favorites.
Service
Pork ribs are so salty, Chinese doughnuts are overcooked. And there are so many bugs in the tea… soooo gross! Never return
Food was good and came out promptly. Waitresses were very attentive. The decor is a bit dated though.
The delivery guy was very friendly...the food was NOT. The Sweet & Sour Pork was absolutely inedible! I literally could not swallow any of the pork. Once the sauce was off of it you'd chew and chew and it was sooo dry and horrible. I spit every piece back out onto the plate. The same goes for the Chicken Chow Mein, it had an overwhelming amount of salt in it, extremely gross tasting. The Vegetables with beef....they put almost a full head of cabbage to take up space so they didn't have to use real vegetables, so friggin' cheap. There was only 2 pieces of Broccoli, maybe 3 slices of Carrot, 4 slices of Water Chestnut and the Celery was about a hundred years old. It was disgusting, really disgusting. I would have called them to complain about the $35 cost for such subpar food but what good would it do? I doubt we'd get our money back so what we will do is NEVER EVER order from them again. It was really bad. We ordered on February 28, 2020. I wasn't allowed to not leave without giving then at least one star but trust me, they don't deserve even that! I think that this was actually the worst food I have ever ordered in my life.
Never been here before and was just looking for a dim sum place in New West. Fortunately we called ahead for a table of 6. Parking you have to pay for on the street but we easily found a spot in the back on a Sunday. Food was excellent! A good sign was the deep fried squid and it was done so well. The batter was not thick at all. The deep fried custard was so good as well. I grew up eating dim sum locally in Vancouver and I would come back.
(Translated) Yummy, delicious, awesome. (Original) Yummy, lecker, awesome.
The owners gave me a free meal here with my coworkers for doing them a minor favour, and the food was delicious
Decent Chinese food in an area of few good options.
Great Dim Sum ????
Order delivery here and it was disgusting. Only thing we didn't throw out was the chow mein. We ordered ginger beer and honey garlic chicken, chicken chow mein and spring rolls. The ginger beef was soggy and had no flavor. The honey garlic chicken was dry and hard to bite into, also lacked flavor. We spent 50$ and threw away the honey garlic chicken and ginger beef it was inedible.
We've come here once for their dim sum. The prices are reasonable enough but the food is just mediocre. The service was great (probably because we had a really chatty toddler though...we find that service really improves when you have a toddler around). The har gow and sui mai are okay. Nothing incredibly special. The spring roll is crispy, but the shrimp paste inside the spring roll has a strange texture...the taste was okay though. The chicken feet tasted good, but the texture was too soft...almost like they had overcooked/oversteamed it. We also ordered a egg yolk bun...which sadly didn't flow when we opened it up (it's supposed to have buttery egg yolk liquid). We also ordered the deep fried chicken knee (joint?) and it wasn't as crispy and crunchy as I expected :( The most disappointing thing is the BBQ pork buns, which is my toddler's favourite...but he refused to eat it. I think the bun itself was a little too dry...it almost felt like it was made of whole wheat flour...? We probably will return once more to see if we came on an off day... Hopefully that's the case.
The owners are very friendly. We had: beef rice noodles which had more beef than most dimsum places; sui mai were very plump with a lot of tobiko on top; har gow was tasty; beef brisket and rice noodle rolls were delicious;; sticky rice wraps were standard; beef balls were standard. The food overall is above average. The service was excellent. The ambiance.....there isn't much but I didn't come here for that. I would visit again
(Translated) It is delicious and there are many kinds of food ~~ (Original) 맛있고 음식종류가 많아요~~
Our go-to Chinese place. Great dim sum variety and all the standard fare too in well prepared and hearty portions. The people are also really nice. They're very much open for take-out and delivery!
It was a very quiet lunch hour with only two tables when we walked in. Service was acceptable. Food was slow in arriving due, we suspect, to the fact that we ordered dimsum and they had to steam them. Overall we found the dimsum on the salty side.
Hood food, good service. Will we be returning? Yes.
Very friendly and quick service. Nice people. I love that you get water and tea the second you sit down.
Great dim sum
Very bad Chinese food. Reminds you of the Chinese Canadian food your parents used to take you to. Everything is covered in a cornstarch laden sauce, expect overcooked vegetables and meats. Friendly helpful staff and quite quick. With other better options around that are healthier, this place needs a better cook.
Foods portion is big compared to Calgary's
i love msg
Great food for dim Sum!! Can get busy during weekends, but worth it
Pretty good spot. I liked it.
A Chinese family bistro offering dim sum and small fried dishes as such Chow Main and fried rice noodles. Comfy atmosphere like being at home. Conveniently located on 8th Street in New Westminster. Price is reasonable.
Food is very good, especially the chicken provided at the dinner time. Highly recommend
Small but cozy place. Friendly staff with great food. Recommend reservations for large groups in advance.
Great tasting Dim Sum! It has a more homemade vibe and taste to it than the other dim sums I've been to in Greater Vancouver.
Delicious dim sum! My favorite place.
Best deep fried pork chops!
Seriously the best dim sum in the area. I live in Langley and I will make a detour here if I'm ever heading to Vancouver. The owners are so sweet and the food is good quality. Check this place out, it's nice to go to a dim sum restaurant where its calm and enjoyable.
Nothing special... curry tendons for Dim Sum was good
The place could use some fixing up, but the dim sum keeps coming back for more
I ordered dinner for two, food was not as tasty as I had hoped. It seemed that it was a carry over from the previous day. The spring rolls were soggy, the sweet & sour pork like rocks.
Their deep fried pork chops is like heaven and better than eating KFC
Good dim sum!
I typically only eat Chinese food when my wife is craving it. But the Spring Garden food is good. I will be back, and bring my friends and family.
Never again
Not only is it great bang for buck, but food is delicious!!
Although not all the dim sum available, there is more than enough selection to wet your tastebuds! And the quality of theirs is AWESOME!! I've tried many many dim sum restaurants near & abroad, but Spring Garden has very good quality and reasonable prices! I wish I didn't have to pay for parking BUT for this food, it's worth it! I suggest you make the trek to New Westminster (just a few blocks from Burnaby) to give them a try. The staff are also very friendly and they serve their food FAST and HOT! Just how I like it!! ????????
Friendly staff, good food
Nice owner... friendly and really good siew-mai
Family type business and take out orders are popular here.
Best Chinese Restaurant! The food is simply beyond competition, delicious and fresh.
Awesome dim sum place in new west! If you are around the area! Come check it out. Love their spring rolls, sooo good!
Good food and price for this area
Ordered take-out on May 1. Been going here on-and-off for the last few years and think the food is excellent. Cantonese style for the most part. Order was the following; Beef Brisket Chow Mein (crispy noodle): Really tasty. Meat was tender and had good flavor. Noodles were done right and overall, was not greasy as some other restaurants can be. Dry Scallop Fried Rice: Nicely done. Well seasoned and not too oily. Honey-garlic Spareribs: As my spouse says, "Its addictive like crack". Pork is deep fried with a good crisp and the sweet/garlic flavor is excellent. Pork and preserved egg congee: Good flavors in the congee. Not too salty and the congee had a nice creamy texture to it. Hopefully when pandemic ends and the restrictions are lifted, we will go and eat in. The dim sum is excellent, with fairly large pieces and a good variety to choose from. The decor is mediocre, i.e. do not be surprised if you use the washroom. Staff are friendly and the food is prompt when after ordering. Overall, its one of the Chinese restaurants I refer to when ordering this type of cuisine.
Dim sum is delicious and ok price
good!
Good value restaurant. Food quality always high!
Best value dim sum place in New Westminster
Small but very good. Same owners. Janice is very nice and helpful.
My favourite dim sum place by far, always delicious, big portions, high quality, and friendly. Would recommend!
Stir fried vegetables with various meats are cut big and rustic with a small amount of a thin sauce. Nice change from the over sauced beef and broccoli.
We went there tonight the first time! The service was very good and it's a very nice place to hang out and chat as they are not as noisy as other chinese restaurant. It's a small place but the food was pretty good! We ordered a ginger and green onion fried lobster and some other dishes including shrimp and vegis spring rolls. Food came out at a decent time and i like how their food are not too salty or too oily. I can taste they didn't add much msg into the food(they probably didnt add any!??) We got a daily soup which is lotus and pork soup. I didnt taste any msg in there so i was happy to have that...it remind me of my mom's soup back in my homeland !???? And again, the owner is super friendly and nice! Their kids were helping them out too it feels like they raised the kids well as the kids are very polite too. You may feel like i am exaggerating but my heart feels warm when I was eating there!
Great place for lunch
Excellent meal
I've been here on and off (very occasional) for the past few years. I've had their dimsum, though, seldom, and it's decent (not great) but I usually have a dinner entree. I just visited again tonight and I must write a review: the quality of food has definitely plunged from where it started (it wasn't amazing to begin with but we decent). In the picture, it looks fine on the surface, but, once you uncover the seasonal vegetables (Gailan), they're all yellow (they're majorly old). The beef was fine but with 75% of the dish filled with vegetables, it was unacceptable to be served such old and tough greens (by 'tough', I mean 'aged' or not tender and smooth). I was already warned that the rice was extra wet and soft tonight but that doesn't bother me. So, no complaints there. I also ordered the spicy wontons - they were not spicy. Half of them contained cartilage. Overall, I was rather disappointed with the food. It was not fresh. I may give it another try some time later but I can't see myself returning yet. After tax and tip, I paid $25 for it. I can only wonder if they gave me extremely old vegetables because I would've picked the food up instead of eating in. I originally ordered for takeout but decided to eat at the restaurant - that's why you see the plastic takeaways.
A hidden gem, don't be fooled by the appearance. Best seafood fried rice I have had in a long time and the prices are great too. The waitress was pleasant and reliable. I'll be back just for the yummy fortune cookies.
Very good dim sum. Service was excellent.
Great food at a reasonable price outside of being in Vancouver or Richmond. The staff are efficient and friendly. This mom and pop place is a bit small so be prepare to be cramped on a busy day. Also they need to improve on the ventilation caused it gets pretty smokey during the good rush hours.
Excelent flavor and good service
Been there many times cause it's close by. My dad loves the sticky rice. For dim sum the turnip cake with xo is good. Overall the food is average but I have found the quality inconsistent.
Drove all the way from port coquitlam and they are closed at 2pm on Thursday. Disappointed.
Been coming here a long time but lately the quality of the food has gone down hill and the price for it has increased a lot! Not going back!
My family of five really enjoyed a variety of dishes here. We don't have dim sum in Bellingham so when we come North we love to try places out. Recommended!
I wouldn't recommend this restaurant at all.The lady on the telephone did not take the order properly and missed a very important item in our dinner order. I asked for them to send the item out ASAP so we could start our dinner as we would wait until it arrived to start eating. She attempted to charge more than full price for the item and when asked to discount the item a little for her mistake ideas told no. Not a favorable experience at all. The order takers English apparently was an issue and the customer is always wrong. No chopsticks with the delivery only a couple packs of sauce and the chicken chow being had hardly any chicken.
Definitely one of my favorite spots for good, inexpensive comfort food! My boyfriend and I always come here for their crystal prawn dumplings and the Shanghai noodles. Their chili oil is truly the best, especially paired with the dumplings! Great service and great food!
The very best authentic Chinese Food. WILL post pics next time. Pics added: hot and sour soup. Roast duck BBQ. The Chinese mushrooms with vegetables. Chicken chow mein with vegetables. All the very best and great prices
Delicious dimsum
Service
Absolutely horrible service and did not provide the food ordered Attempt to resolve I was politely hung up on WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND
Warm services and good food
Great food. Favorite in new west
Home style cooking! Friendly people.
Really wanted to like this place but found the fried rice salty in one section and unsalted in another. There is better around.
Authentic Cantonese dimsum. A bit pricy for the quantity in dimsum. Other fried dishes seem to have larger portion for the value.
Yum! Yum yum yum come and DIM SUM! We loved our spontaneous stop here while in NW. Super sweet/friendly/endearing staff and great food! Thank you:).
Great food, fast service & friendly staff/owner.
Very good food.
It's a compact family Chinese restaurant with good selection of dim sum and Chinese food. The price is fair and service is good, only problem, the place is too small for its crowd.
After we moved into our condo in the area, we were looking for a Chinese Restaurant. Happily we tried Spring Garden Chinese Restaurant and was not disappointed. Since this was our first time, we tried their house specials and the recommended fried porkchop. We will return again.
Great food and nice portions.
Average food, portion size small
REALLY DISGUSTING!!!! I ordered to go here's my first experience at spring garden. Sautéed shrimp was still raw,so much of garlic in shirmp and vegetables dish, no taste of sauce in chicken chow mein it was so dry....sticky rice tasted OLD... Honestly, everything went to the garbage what waste for food.... NEVER AGAIN SPRING GARDEN!!!!
More $$ than $. Pork spare ribs dimsum salty. Friendly family rwstareres. No wifi. Kind of pricey, given the Vintage decor.
Good serving sizes, and good food. The ginger beef and the fried rice were awesome. Totally would recommend
I'm white and I love this place
This small family run Chinese restaurant is always good! Came to celebrate Lunar New Year with some delicious Dim Sum. Did not disappoint! I believe most of the dumplings are hand-made in shop. Everything was hot and tasted great! It's not a fancy place but if you're looking for good quality home-made food, this is it! It's a small staff, and regulars are recognized. If it's not too busy, Janice and Calvin (chef) will both spend some time chatting with customers. A solid recommend.
Small, unassuming place. I read other reviews, and decided to try this place out with one of my out-of-town friends. She really enjoyed it, and would like to come back. As a local Vancouverite, I found it was on par, except the bbq pork buns were not what I was used to. My friend loved them (she hasn't had dim sum in a couple of years). Prices were a little high for the quality, but I've been having dim sum all last week. Service was very friendly, food came quickly. (We were there at about 2PM on a Monday.) I really liked the prawn rice rolls. Prawns were fresh with a bite to it (not soft and soggy), and the rice rolls were nice and soft. There's a free parking lot in the back, and free parking along the side streets. If I'm ever in New West again and wanting Chinese food, I'd be okay coming here.
Love the mom and pop shop feel. Less crazy busy and decent prices for dim sum.
Try the homemade hot chili oil (they should bottle this up and sell it) The food is good for this style of Chinese food. The only dish I didn't like a lot was the deep fried squid. It needed a bit more flavour and spice. Their star dishes would be the chow mein, fried rice, rice noodles. Those type of dishes would not fail here.
High price and the quality is (in my opinion) below average. Not sure the egg foo young had egg in it.???? The Singapore noodles we good. I do understand costs are up substantially. Maybe the cook had an off night. A 2 egg Egg Foo Young should not should not be opaque unless a starch is used . A
Had dim sum with my cousin here. Excellent! My second time here. I will be back with my daughter. It doesn't have a beautiful decor, but the food DEFINITELY makes it all worth while.????
Super fast delivery and food was great!
Today was my first time ordering from here. I enjoyed the food but it was more expensive then I thought because they didnt inform me of the total price before they hung up the phone. They also didnt have debt for delivery and the delivery took 20 minutes longer then they said. Which is unreasonable for how close I am to the resturant. Other than those few things the food was great and the service was okay.
Not mind-blowing, but not bad.
(Translated) Quiet, many people from other countries patronize. (Original) 清靜,很多其他國家的人客光顧。
My wife loves their dumplings
Meal type
dim sum lunch - great little family-run place and considering the price and variety for dim sum it offers good value
Service was okay, we order 2 dishes and it took forever for the second dish and rice to come out after we ate the first dish. We were the only guests dinner but they were busy preparing take out. We thought the food was bland tasting. The Black Bean Chicken needed more black bean sauce, and Ginger fried beef was nice and crispy but also needed more flavor.
We love dimsum here. Reasonably priced and the owner is super nice. Portions are big, we had leftover. Totally recommended.
Great food and service
Great little Seafood Chinese Restaurant very nice fast service and really fresh food!!
Nice little family owned restaurant. We've eaten here a few times and regularly order takeout. The food is great and fresh. Will definitely keep going back. Worth a trip to the area :)
Great Chinese food in New Westminster/Burnaby. Friendly staff, good good. We like the dim sum menu as well which is available for brunch every day.
Great delivery service. Really liked the chow mein noodles and the sweet and sour pork. Will order again when craving Chinese food.
Good service, okay price and okay freshness of food. And location very convenient.
The food was amazing. Everything we had was hot, fresh and delicious. The cashew chicken was particularly delicious. May have found my new go-to Chinese restaurant
Tried there food today for the first time and this will be the last time. Worst Chinese food I ever ate and for the high prices you would expect good food.
Delicious dim sum and extremely friendly service!
One of the rare dim sum locations in NW. Rice flour roll with diced fish is good and hard to come by in Vancouver. The rest of the dim sums are quite delicious!
Shrimp wasn't deveined, that's the iceberg effect going on here, lord knows what we're unaware of. All the seafoods frozen, no surprise, price was mediocre. Avoid the pork pot stickers.
Good food
Mom and Pop place. Ok favors but a bit pricey. Ordered Beef Brisket Hot Pot (just brisket and daikon radish on cabbage leaves), Lemon Chicken (very thick breading), Fresh Squid with Spring Vegetables (ok), Jellyfish appetizer (ok, but needs more vinegar.) $60+Tips. Serves Dim Sum at lunch but we didn't try it.
found a new Chinese go to I like the best
really authentic Guangzhou dishes and dim sum and great friendly service. will definitely be back for more!
Very good dimsum! Yummy
Ok food. 5 dim sum and one vegetable chow mein came to $49.89 plus tip. The taste was good, not fantastic.
Pretty good for New Westminster, cheap, lots of food, decent flavour
(Translated) Fair price but the decor is really old (Original) 價格公道但是裝潢實在老舊
Placed a delivery order a few months back. Was very surprised how fast it came and how absolutely delicious the food was. Wouldn't hesitate or order again.
Been going to this little family owned restaurant for years. Dim sum is great. Great food, fair prices and nice owners. Support small business that try to keep their customers happy and provide good food.
Dine in
As we were there for Dim Sum I cannot comment on the dinner menu. But the Dim Sum is very good. The essentials are there, sui mai, har gow, and the congee is very tasty. Now a lot of people will say how can rice and water, essentially wall paper paste be flavourful. I don't know, but it is. Maybe it is a secret recipe? The Prawn rice roll have very large Prawns in them making most every bite have good. The "wide" noodle Beef Chow Mein is also very good with large prices of beef, not the usual slivers of unidentifiable meat. Now I cannot speak of the other dishes but if these are a representation of what to expect, then they should all be good. Just a note, the restaurant is a little small seating about 80 - 100 people. But this does not affect the service. The staff are very friendly and prompt. There is street parking and some free parking in the rear of the restaurant with an entrance to the restaurant. We have decided that this will be our local go-to for Dim Sum. But don't take my word, you should go and try it for yourself.
This was my first time here and the food was amazing and so was the service I would so recommend this place to anybody who wants good Chinese food definitely go there and try it even though it's a small place they have very good food and the portion size is amazing
a hidden gem in new west, authentic as it gets.
Could not have made it better myself Hubby just delivered the sweet and sour boneless pork and shrimp fried rice. Wow! Everything is hot, plentiful, and tasty! The pork was meaty and not overdone with flour and lots of shrimp and fresh veggies in the shrimp fried rice. I ordered with no msg or extra salt and then put tamari on as needed. Happy to now know a great quality chinese restaurant. Great portions too! Kids will have the rest for dinner. Delicious!
Honestly, probably legit about dimsum being made daily. But they arent using the freshest quality. Shrimp dumplings have no flavour, pork dumpling (shu mai) has mostly fat bits in it and an extremely fishy and salty tobiko on top which overtook many of the flavours. The donut wrapped in rice flour roll was mediocre, no garnishes at all. Lastly I had the beancurd pork rolls with "oyster sauce". Oyster sauce was some kind of slightly sweetened soya sauce... Overall its going to be my last time coming. Would not recommend. Solid 2 stars
Best Chinese food around here. Food was cooked perfectly and has lots of flavour. I liked how the beef and broccoli wasn't over cooked and watery. Had really good flavour and broccoli was still crisp. Sweet and sour pork was the best I've had. It wasn't just a bunch of pieces of fat like some places. The only thing I didn't like was how the egg rolls had huge pieces inside. But everything else was great!
Great food, love that it's family run and they do want to know how you like their food
(Translated) Very good Chinese food, the boss from Guangzhou, the price is fair. (Original) 很好的中餐,广州来的老板,价格公道。
It was decent food. They need to change their fryer oil for sure. Vegetables in the chicken with cashew nuts were very hard, almost as if they weren't even cooked at all. Would try again, but hope they try a little harder next time.
Total dissapointment as a dim sum parlor. The Ha Gow was worst, the shrimp was off. The rest of the dim sum had a very bland flavour as well. The best thing was the desset, Pearl Crystal Cakes which were tapioca balls with red bean paste. The service was good.
Yummy Dim Sum for great prices.
Very nice and friendly family run Chinese restaurant. Good tasty homemade style dim sum at a reasonable price. The restaurant is an old style chinese restaurant but it had some great comfortable booths and it was very clean.
Great dimsum. Home style
Best Dim Sum in New West!
Yum.
Was there for Dim Sum. Food was good quality however portions weren't overly generous for the price.
Delicious flavors all round, my only beef with them is the fact that the shiu mai is a bit mushy.
(Translated) Although there are few places, the product is acceptable, the price is not too expensive and the portion is sufficient. I hope the store will make the environment better. (Original) 虽然地方很少但出品还是可以接受的,价格也不太贵而且份量足,希望店家再把环境做好一下更好。
So friendly staff, nice combo menu, tasty and nice price :) wanna come back soon ! ご馳走さまでした????
I love this place
This place doesn’t seem like much but I was pleasantly surprised when I came in for dim sum. The quality is good and the price is reasonable. They also make their own dim sum from scratch which was a huge bonus for me.
So delicious. Will be back again hopefully!
Classic Cantonese food. Good dim sum selection
Good and quick Chinese food for pickup.
Food was expensive and disappointing
Curry Beef Brisket is delicious, so is the Dim Sum
I have been at this restaurant many times. Food is always good. Price is always right. Recommend for families.
Love the Dim Sum......always fresh and sooooo tasty.
We went for Dim Sum and everything ordered was delicious, the service was really great too! Will definitely be back ASAP
Family run business with fresh dim sum made there. Prices are cheaper than the usual yum cha spots, and the quality is great
Restaurant serves good food at affordable prices, place is a bit oily though
Good place for your dim sum needs. Good pricing for your classic dishes. Unfortunately, the only knock I have against it is the fact that they don't have beef tripe on their dim sum menu. Not a big deal at the end of the day but I would think it should be staple on any regular dim sum menu for sure. Would still definitely come back again and still highly recommend it for dim sum.
ok
Dine in
Nice food and good service quaity
Good dim sum, friendly staff.
Too much money. Value B-
Always excellent food and service here altho the interior needs a reno
Delicious dim sum at a very reasonable price. What Spring Garden lacks in refinement is more than made up by the fact that their dim sum is fantastic. Don't expect fancy dishes here because instead you'll find common Cantonese dishes done very well. The food is hot and fresh. Most importantly is that it's delicious and a great value. The floor space of the place is unfortunately a bit smaller than what their popularity demands. You'll find queues here on busy days with little room to stand and wait. On regular days, the chef will come out and check on your tables too. A nice personal touch. But again, it's not an upscale place. You should be coming for the food and not the service (though it is good.) Spring Garden is a place for great food at a great price. The atmosphere is relaxed and serves as a good place to sit and chat while eating - exactly what the experience of eating dim sum calls for.
I took my mom for lunch and it was very good the customers are very diverse and the food is very authentic and this is in New Westminster must eat there
My brother and his wife favorite spot for Chinese food.
Not a frequent visitor here but their dimsum are good. The price is reasonable. The portions are about right.
Dine in
The food was OK, nothing special but I was very disappointed when they told me they weren’t serving Dim Sum. I was the only person in the restaurant. Then all of a sudden someone else came in and they served them Dim Sum. I asked them why and they tried to say that he called in advance. I knew that was a lie because I’d been in the restaurant for 30 minutes already. Very poor visibility from a customer service standpoint.
Quality food, served hot. Always perfect!
Excellent cashew chicken
First time here and was quite impressed, will go back again. Prices were reasonable.
Tasty food! Good portions! Want to try other things
I went this eatery because of the reviews that I had read. Unfortunately, the food we received was less than average. Most everything seemed like it had been frozen for a long time or frozen on a tray with no cover. Freezer burn is what I think they call it. The only item that was good, was the Gai Lan that we ordered, which was fresh. It seemed that for the pricing of the dim sum, it was not up to par , with Kirin, Pink Pearl, Rainbow Butterfly and others. A disappointment to say the least. We will not spend our money here again.
This restaurant does not spend much effort on the presentation or appearance of their dishes - you definitely won't get any "foodporn" quality snaps here. The place itself is also a little dingy and hole-in-the-wall looking. BUT, and I think way more importantly, they did put a lot of effort into the taste and texture of their food! The bbq pork, although lacking the signature bright red coloring, was yummy and tender. The siumai were juicy and umami. My favorite was the spare ribs - they were crazy tender and had great flavors. Not the best dimsum in the area, but it's cheap and decent. When you're looking for a dimsum fix, it does the job.
Here is a letter of recommendation for the Spring Garden Chinese Seafood Restaurant. I have been going there for about three years now and have never had a bad experience. Recently, when we were visiting family outside Toronto, I ordered shrimp fried rice from this place and it happened to be the best meal I have ever had in my life.
Love the fresh food and friendly service!
Always great dim sum. Not the largest menu, but everything on there is really good.
Good food, good prices and great company!
Good food !!!My go to when I’m craving Chinese food !!!
Great place to eat. The food tastes exactly like back home. I will come back her again.
BEST take out chinese food in New West. Good quality ingredients made by folks who like cooking. They dont skimp out. We have tried others and they just dont stack up with flavor and dish size. Wish they had S&S chicken balls then they would be near perfect. The fried rice is a fave. All soups I have tried are great and filling.
I am very upset with the customer service here. My table of 3 were accidentally given a shrimp dim sun dish as one of the first dishes. We obviously thought it was something we ordered(because we ordered multiple shrimp dishes) and ended up eating about half the dish. After the rest of the food arrived we noticed something was off so I asked the waiter what the extra dish was. He told me it was a mistake by the kitchen. We had some food left over, including 2 of 4 pieces of the shrimp dish and packed it up to-go. When we were given the bill, I was shocked to see that we were charged for the dish we didn't order. I pointed this out to the lady and she told me she's charging us because we ate the food. OF COURSE WE ATE IT. It was the first dish to arrive and we assumed we ordered it. She was very reluctant and getting angry with my view on the matter, constantly saying "you ate it". I took out the 2 shrimp pieces from my take out box and put it back on the table and she finally changed the bill. I am not a cheap person but I refuse to be bullied by customer service like this. Overall, the food wasn't even that great, interior is super outdated and bad customer service. Never coming back.
Very greasy food, not my definite like, sorry.????
Great choice of dishes and amazing cooking

Service
We ordered takeout and it was delivered very fast and was absolutely delicious. Large portions and extremely affordable. The driver was very friendly and professional.
Love this place for weekend dim-sum and Chinese take out / delivery!
I enjoyed my first visit here. It is a really unassuming place with good food and fair prices. Family-run, warm and friendly service. The dim-sum options are great; portion size is generous. They accommodated our special requests too! I will be back here.
Ok only for Chinese dim sum, service was nice but we were there once open so no other people. Price is fair for size of the dim sum as long as you don't expect too much is ok to try.
OMG! literally the worst chinese I have ever had. Got sick after eating
Dim Sum is okay Service is excellent Prices are reasonable
Brunch
Great won ton soup.
I always enjoy food from Spring Garden. The staff is super hospitable and food is delicious. Happy to have this place in New West!
Regular dim sum.
(Translated) The taste of things is okay, the servings are many, but not delicate. (Original) 東西口味還可以,份量很多,但不精緻。
(Translated) Good ingredients. Good service (Original) 食材好.服务好
Good food..and little pricy
Very bad experience! Avoid this restaurant at all cost! I bought a BBQ duck here and it taste like stone, it must be cooked couple of days earlier, I have try many BBQ duck, and this is definitely worst.
Everything is over cooked, seems as if things are in the steamer for hours on end. Every thing but the Sui Mai is way too salty. The Sui Mai was under cooked! All the rice roll dishes (the actual rice roll) are mushy and soggy. All the rice roll dishes all come with soy sauce poured over already which doesn't help because it's so salty already. At least the service is not bad. Sep 10, 2018
One of the great restaurant in the city. Great food and staff. Awesome services!
★★★ GREAT PLACE FOR DIMSUM IF YOU ARE IN NEW WEST AS IT'S THE ONLY ONE, DECENT STANDARD PRICES, GOOD SELECTIONS AND TASTES. WOULD GIVE FULL 5 STAR REVIEW IF SERVICE IS QUICKER FOR THE FOODS TO ARRIVES. WILL SURELY RETURN WITH FAMILY.★★★ Response to Charles M's review: you gave this business a poor review because they charged you for the food you "mistakenly" ate and u did not ordered for it, were you upset because you were expecting it to be a FREE dish as compliment to you or were just upset because they found out which you thought they wouldn't??? Still thinking to bring its left over home all ready in a plastic take out bag eh? Lets be honest there! I would be RUDE to you too. Which Earth are you living in buddy? Are you a homeless who expects freeby handouts always? SMH lol ????
My go-to Chinese restaurant! Food is not greasy at all. It’s delicious and the owners are super friendly.
Not good
Taste and price are good in general. Regarding all the food I ordered so far, nothing disappoint me at all.
Excellent dim sum
Love the dim sum. The siu mai are home made and are so big compared to what you get at other restaurants.
Nice find. Good dim sum. Family operated. Very friendly service. Chef came out to talk to us.
4 stars is fair for this neighborhood Chinese restaurant. The food is pretty good and the prices are fair. We came here for dim sum and they have all the typical items you would expect. It is a small place with 3 big tables and 8 or so smaller tables. It does the job for some casual Chinese food. And the cleanliness is okay to good.
Fantastic place. The owners and staff are super nice and very friendly. Great food. Hot, fresh and tasty.
Food is awesome one of the only place that still does hand made dim sum. The owners are very positive and friendly. Dim sum is similar to the word lunch. There are people that expect lunch at dinner time.
