I went, with my elderly parents, for lunch and to pick up lobsters. The male working the counter encouraged us to choose and order our lobsters along with our meal, which led to my mom unwittingly giving a grossly inflated tip on both the lunch and the lobsters. I am fairly certain this was done intentionally to extract extra money from tourists and elderly patrons. This soured what would otherwise have been a good experience. The lobster rolls were excellent. The chowder and fish and chips were decent. The quality of the cooked lobsters we purchased were phenomenal - they were incredibly fresh and perfectly cooked. You cannot beat the sweetness and flavour of Fundy lobsters. A good joint, but the staff should have more scruples.
The Lobster and clam strips were fantastic. The staff were super helpful and friendly. We came back for lunch and had scallops and the smoked salmon. These were also 5 stars! The wait for the food to be ready was a little long but well worth it in the end. Knowing what to expect made it fine and we were able to walk the beach behind the shop to pass the time.
We got to visit behind tbe stores and they explained us the basic of lobsters fishing and anatomy. Great experience, very welcoming people. You can't get a fresher lobster than what they have.
Stopped in today for a bite while out touring the Fundy loop. Well...it is nice when you get genuinely surprised by a take out! My fish and chips were absolutely incredible. The potatoe salad was home made. The coleslaw was home made. And to top it off the Tatar sauce was home made. The meal was delicious. We bought sweatshirts as well. Great spot!!!
I wasn't able to get a picture but it was right beside the beach and it was awesome. Freshest crab and lobster roll you'll ever have Saw a couple who came at this place on foot which means they love this shop for food a whole lot.
Amazing food! Had a really good time going there for dinner. I had the Lobster Roll and it was packed full of thick lobster meat chunks.
Tasty but pricy. A bit too price for the amount of food you get
Oh boy! The best lobster roll and chowder I have ever had. The location is great with a view of the bay of fundy. Fish n chips (haddock) were amazing too. It literary melts in your mouth. If you are in Alma town...this is a must-try.
Omg what an experience!! The food was incredible and staff were so friendly! This is a must stop on your vacation trip. Amazing for all members of the family.
delicious lobster roll. it was fresh and tasted fresh. waited some time but there was a lot of customers. well located, directly on the bay. nice view picnic tables and covered seating area too.
Good place, right next to our cottage. The food was excellent but the scallops were a bit overcook. Prices are way cheaper than other places and the service is very fast.
Delicious meal and quick service! Beautiful views as well.
Had lobster with garlic butter. Amazing experience. If you are traveling to Moncton it should be in your to do list if you are a sea food lover.
Disorganized service plans make it difficult to know their process to get food and where to eat it. We were given different answers by different staff. Only 1 gluten free option on their menu, the seafood chowder. It was good, but even when specifically ordered gluten free, it came with a regular flour roll. The chowder was good, but the portions are small for the price.
I will start off saying it was slow. We waited about 45 minutes for our food. But it was the best lobster roll I have had, ever. It is worth eating here even if you have to wait. Everyone is friendly and nice so just relax and enjoy the the food. I did take pictures but it didn't do the food justice due to the lighting so I am not posting them. Really worth waiting and eating here.
Sadly i think we built up the idea in our minds of how awesome it would be to eat fresh lobster straight out of the ocean. Being of indian decent spices make our food complete and unfortunately we were not very impressed with the lobster dinner we had. View was awesome of the bay with the tide out but that was it.
Food was delicious and the ambience was rustic and homey... Felt like a legit seaside restaurant... Knew it was going to be a treat the moment we walked in and smelled the amazing aromas. We had the captain's plate (haddock and chips, fried scallops), lobster roll, fried clams, mussels, snow crab, onion rings and pickles. Plus coconut pie for dessert. Everyone was happy with their meals. Service was efficient and friendly, particularly service staff. The wait however was almost an hour... Don't know if that's normal or if we just happened to come on an off night. Still... The locale made it a non issue ... We ended up walking the beach and strolling around the charming town while we waited for our food. Price was fair for the area and for what it is (I.e. a local gem serving fresh seafood). Fed 3 adults and 2 kids for about $140 CAD including tip. Would recommend, but am curious to see how it stacks with the other local options.
A very popular place! Note that it is not along Main Street but is not difficult to locate - Big signage and Google map helps. Plenty of patio and outside seatings. Good tasty lobsters.
Excellent dog friendly patio area. You order inside first then they bring your food out to you. Seafood is super fresh and you can see their boat in the docks called the, "Thankless Too". I recommend the deep fried scallops and sweet potato fries although everything is very good. They are known for their chowder but I wasn't able to sample due to it being sold out. The back of the restaurant has a really nice view of the entire village that is publicly accessible. There is also access to the beach area and we were able to find a lot of perfect flat rocks and a few rare sea glass.
If you cant decide what to get, why not get it all?! Absolutely fantastic fresh fresh seafood with helpful staff that attended to our every need. The atmosphere of Alma Lobster shop is amazing with views to spare. FYI You have to order inside first and they will bring your food as you sit outside.
I bought a "lobster roll" that was made up of imitation (fake) lobster on a hotdog bun. It came with a side of frozen French fries. I would not recommend this place to anyone, ever. Save your 23$ and go get a real lobster roll at one of the many other excellent places in New Brunswick or P.E.I.
Great place to eat and shop for seafood. We will return again from Toronto.
Alma's Lobster Shop Out for a drive on Thanksgiving I have much to be grateful for Waking up this morning I had no idea I'd be sitting at Alma's Overlooking the ocean With sticky buns & pumpkin pie From the local bakery Tucked away in the trunk Lobster rolls are on order As I quite literally hear the waves Crashing at the shore For an instant, I believe I've died and gone to heaven!
A bit on the expensive side but the food was good. We had the half pound lobster warm which was delicious. We also had lobster rolls with chowder and coleslaw. The coleslaw was so good, and the chowder and lobster rolls were okay.
The fried clams are amazing ! The lobster was insanely good. Nice spot to eat on the waterfront. The greatest service.
Great lobster roll! You can view the tide behind the restaurant while waiting for your food. Great location with fantastic staff. We didn’t want to cook that night (camping inside Fundy NP) so we went back for a second lobster roll for dinner. Their chowder is also amazing. Highly recommended lobster shop.
We had a lobster roll & fries & they were very good. The 10 minute prep time mentioned on the phone, took more like 20 to 25 mins. But when on vacation, time is on my side.
Really friendly staff. Lots of things to peruse. There is a small gift shop, seafood market, and restaurant. You order at the seafood counter. Prices are not terribly cheap but then again, you pay for the quality. The deep fried clams were so delicious and cooked at the time of order.
Great tasting lobsters, we also tried the lobster salad and smoke salmon salad. We enjoyed our meals.
Great service and amazing food! The guy working the front made us feel right at home :)
Tasty and fresh seafoods. Mussels are amazing. Lobsters are must-try too. Prices are very fair compared to a lot of other seafood places we’ve eaten at across our Maritimes trip. If you came at low tide you can take a walk at the beach too. Pretty dope.
Awesome view if the ocean and the amazing tidal shifts. In the back you can see how the lobsters are stored and sorted all year round. Interesting merchandise for sale inside. If you’re a lobster person, the menu is great. There’s also some simple stuff for kids and non lobster people.
Sat on one of their picnic tables by the bay. Great lunch in a perfect setting.
My husband was looking forward to eating lobster here during our honeymoon. It was the one thing he really wanted to do (specifically at this place out of the 3 provinces) and was so excited. The day before, he called to ask their hours and they said they would be open at noon for the next day ( Sunday). We went around 3:30 on Sunday and they were closed. We called to see if they were going to open and they said no, they closed because they had no customers since noon and weren’t opening up again for the day. I would suggest opening for at least dinner. Tourists like us are still looking for places to eat, especially around dinner time. There are still plenty of us travelling this time of year. We ran into plenty of other travellers during our trip so far, including 2 couples at Tipsy Tails. The night before as we came into Alma, we wanted to eat but everything was closed by 8:30 which I understand, but to close by 3:30 on a Sunday seems super early. Hopefully we can try this place if we travel here again.
Great place, friendly people. Nice closed in patio with some heaters and great water views. Awesome food. Eat in, take away or buy and cook at home ????????.
This place is fantastic. The food was absolutely amazing. My husband tried to order a chicken burger and the staff there convinced him to try a lobster roll. He has been hooked on them ever since. The food is delicious. It is a very casual place, not fine dining... but definitely gives you a taste of east coast life. I would drive back to New Brunswick just for their lobster rolls.
Amazing experience here. Fresh caught lobster was so delicious and for amazing prices. Had a lobster feast. Steamed lobster, lobster roll, and fries were all epic.
We hit the Lobster Shop on what was I hope an off day. Waited an hour for food, was told when we ordered it would be 20 min. When food finally did arrive the order was wrong. I understand mistakes and bad days happen. I do have issue with tipping when ordering and it self serve. 20% tip up front and then waiting an hour is wrong. We asked for a refund and left hungry for a 2 hour drive back to Saint John.
Service was good. Views were great. Lobster rolls were just ok. Maybe frozen meat? Wasn't very flavorful... Update-this has become a favorite Sunday stop for us after a good hike a Fundy National. The fish and chips are amazing. Chowder is great too.
Wonderful food and service. We sampled the smoked salmon, fried clams, lobster roll, seafood chowder and fish & chips. Portion size was very generous and everything was delicious.
It is unfortunate to have to rate this place so low , when 6-7 years ago when we first came here we had enjoyed the lobsters so much , that we went out of our way this time to go back for another lobster feast. What a total disappointment it was this time! We spent $66.00 on 2 lobsters that tasted horrible, both of them were way way too salty and had no taste, nor sweetness or maybe it was killed by the excessive salt Nobody came to our table to ask how well we enjoying our meal so on our way out , I asked the lady that was serving if she is the owner. She said she's not but directed me to a younger lady, apparently the grandauther of the owner. I started to tell her what a memorable lobster experience we had years ago, to which she smiled, but when I told her the 2 lobster that we were unable to enjoy because of excessive salt content, she said " maybe it was a bad batch" and slowly walked away towards the display of lobsters saying something to the other lady. There was no other conversation and we left knowing that we will never come back again. Fortunately we noticed another lobster shop just 2 door down Collins Lobster shop were we enjoyed 2 delicious lobsters and took 2 more to go. Service was excellent and I highly recommend!
Fantastic. If you are within several hours, you should stop here for the lobster.
The lobster was excellent!!! So good!!! Well worth it to have it cracked and brought to you. Butter if you wish. Staff was excellent! Will go back.
Delightful fresh lobster meal. The lobster was cooked perfectly and the patio was a great place to enjoy our meal on a rainy day. The employees of the establishment were also friendly and helpful! We would definitely go back again!
Disappointed. 45 minute wait to be served and then finally receive a tiny hot dog bun with a bit of lobster meat n mayo and its cold and looks like out of the fridge after that long wait. not cheap also. .I am sure they sell fresh catch. but the food served did not live up to it. I am sorry to say. my kids were also very disappointed.
Nice selection of local seafood...gift shop and little restaurant. Lots of outdoor seats to enjoy your meal with a view. After your meal short walk to the beach
Horrible. Not what they are advertising . The Captains Plate or whatever they called it consisted of 4 Crab Legs and a piece of deep fried fish. Horrible. My husband's dinner was even worse. We had to pay a gratuity up front while we carried our own food to the table. Gratuity for what? NOT one server came by. Total shame. And the price for this pittance was ridiculous. Not one server came by. Will NEVER go back. EVER. You can post all the dignity you want around town. Will NEVER go back!!!!
Lobster roll, fried shrimp and scallops were all amazing
Food was great. I had the fish tacos and you definitely get your moneys worth. Lots, and I mean lots of fish. They were spot on for taste! I could only eat one as they were that big (you get 2 and a side of your choice). My other half had the lobster dinner and what can I say about that, besides yummy! He devoured the whole lobster and it wasn't a little one. 2 1/2 lbs maybe, or more....
Very nice spot to get lunch and a few souvenirs! Lobster roll was loaded with chunks of lobster meat, clams were very good but had more breading than needed, fries were very good.
