Good selection of seafood and fish, including live lobsters. Very knowledgeable staff that will even help you on the cooking directions. A bit on the expensive side, but unfortunately this is the trend at the Jean Talon market. They also carry a good selection of oysters which they can open for you for on-site quick lunch. Overall recommend!

Disrespectful, impolite. I came to the Poissonnerie Aqua Mare to buy some shrimps, I tried to practice my French for asking 1 lbs of shrimp tiger prawn 25$, the fisherman wrap me just (1 shrimp). So I thought they didn't understand me so i changed to speak English: "i want 25$ of shrimp" and i repeated so many time, he showed me a tiny small shrimp (pink shrimp) and said " you want this right " and then every staffs of the store laughed at me, I felt so upset, i went out the store directly and I will never come back.

Today I went to Aquamare to get some octopus. I was curious to know where it came from, cause I feel quality may very depends of the country. So I ask the fisherman and his answer was " it come from the sea." I told him that its not the kind of answer I expected. After he said it came from morocco... Which is not true cause I ask the lady at the cash who seems to know what she's talking about and told me it's from Tunisia. I'm very upset about this employee, who don't even know what he's selling and try to make is smartarse. I'm not gonna spend other money in this store anymore

Bought three lobsters cooked. Brought them home and one was totally rotten. Ruined our wonderful meal with family and a 500$ bottle of wine. Went back the next day to return it. Explained the situation. Garbage customer service. Manager came out and offered another one, we said “dinner was last night”. Then “ok, we will give you a credit”. No. “I don’t want a credit because I won’t come back here ever again”. Ok. He goes into the cash and gives us 15$. Wow! Also said “it happens sometimes”!!! Rotten seafood HAPPENS SOMETIMES????

I bought some bad fish "BOS Smoked Fish" at Poissonnerie Aqua Mare, that chunk was not cheap 10$. It was frozen and there was no expiration date on it. Once home it had melted a little bit. What should`ve been vacuum pack, was loose inside and it was not smelling good. This market is also very far from my place, it`s not worth it for me to go back there, just for that. I was hoping to be offered equal or more in value as a compensation, sent to me by mail. Like everyone, I hate wasting my money. They offered me a store credit of equal value, if I return the item in person. Not good enough! Interesting thing to note: The expiration box didn't have a printed date or expiration date sticker. If it's a sticker that goes in there, it can be easily removed by unscrupulous retailer, to extend it's shelf life. This would be so wrong and probably illegal. I haven't heard back from BOS Smoked Fish yet. But as soon as I do I'll get the story straight about that expiration date box, sticker or what not.

Do you like fresh lobster and garlic butter? Do you like fresh oysters? Do you like a fun oyster bar, outdoor seating and fried calamari? Well - this is the place! The staff is friendly, easy going and happy. This has been our lobster spot for the last few years and would like it to be a hidden gem but its too good to not share. A platter goes for 25.99 per lb (so depending if you get a big boy or not, can be 30-40 bucks). Crossing my fingers on a lobster sale. But guaranteed, you will have every passerby gawking at your beautiful lobster plate if you decide to get one and dine by their beautiful oyster bar as you enjoy the sounds and sights of the market.

I asked for black cod, which wasn't shown in the counter but they had some backstore. As I know it's an expensive fish, I asked for the price, the clerk looked it up and it was 62$/kg. Even if it's expensive, I was fine with that. But when I got to the cashier, I realised I was charged 72$/kg. I informed them about their mistake and they said that it was the first scale that had not been updated and the right price was 72$/kg, take it or leave it. They were rude, arguing and making me feel like I was dishonest! Clearly, a good store would excuse themselves and charge the first price I was told. I won't be going there again.

*This is the first time I get so mad that I take the time to write a review " I went in there in a rush and asked for a box of Oysters. They handed me a " 24 Oysters box '" for 30$. Got home, it was an 18 Oysters box. Opened the first one an hour later to realize they were almost a month old, rotten and dangerous. Called them right up and spoke to a lady that told me to come back the next day with the box to get a full refund. Got there, paid parking, only to be told they are not "authorized" for refunds and is just not their policy. If me or my friend had eaten their oysters, we would've ended up in the hospital. Clearly they did not care about their mistake and tried to pull one off. After 10 minutes of arguing they offered me a lobster to compensate. I will never trust them again.
