I wanted to check this place out since it had good reviews and it was a LFS. I wasn't let down the people working there were very friendly and they had great stock on fishes. They also had items that you can't find anywhere else. I found the prices to be cheaper overall aswell compared to chain stores. I wish I lived closer, I will definitely return.

I have been going to this place for 5+ years and have never been disappointed by this place, but this time was different. First, I was very surprised to see the staff now wearing face cover of some sort. Second, I was standing for almost 40 mins before someone actually came to help me and then went away to serve someone what was buying more expensive fishes. Then they switched off the light in the tank and I had to buy fish from dark tanks. I didn't even get to pick the fish I wanted because the guy who came to help me was in a rush. He just gave me whatever he liked. Last was the fact that they were charging me extra and even after I corrected them the cashier gave me a strange look. That doesn't mean I won't go back to the store. I will return 1 because the fish quality is good and 2 because I love supporting small businesses specially in this difficult time.

Visited this shop today and as everyone else has mentioned, the place is very clean and organized. Staff seemed friendly and knowledgeable. Really beautiful selection of fish, especially Cichlid varieties. Plant selection was pretty good. They carried the common pots you'd typically see in most fish shops (crypts, swords, anubias, etc.), however didn't see any tissue culture plants. Loved the rare varieties of livestock (pygmy corydoras, black cory cats and a couple nice species of rasboras). Unfortunately, I didn't get anything from my trip as I didn't particularly see any enticing prices on plants nor livestock. But definitely worth checking out if you're in the area. I'll be coming back again real soon!

I should leave a more detailed review other than just 3 stars to explain why I gave this rating. I like Finatics because it has a small business/ mom n' pop shop feel, which always seems to be a better choice over big box. The store was well stocked in terms of plants and the fish I was looking for, but there wasn't a lot of interaction from the staff. I was new to world of fish and aquascaping and was wandering around a bit doing my own googling and asking questions which the staff did help to answer when I asked BUT overall I think a good part of customer service is feeling out and trying assist your customers and there were 3 guys in the shop 2 talking to each other at the counter --one working filling/emptying a tank and at no time other than when I asked questions did they offer to help. At the end what really bothered me was when I asked about the fish and introducing them to my tank that was still cycling, the guy said "well you can get a couple of fish and try them out as tester fish." I was not happy with being suggested to take a living thing and use it a "tester" for my tank quality being ready. Overall still like the shop and the products available will definitely shop here again, but will most likely come armed with my own knowledge and experience so I can go in and confidently shop for what I need.

I really enjoy supporting smaller mom and pop shops. But I really can't recommend this one. Starting with the pros: The store itself (floors and shelves) were clean. It didn't smell like old aquarium shop at all. Prices of the fish are reasonable. Now the cons: Of the fish they had in stock, 80% were sick (fin rot, ick, etc...). Don't even get me started on the Bettas. None of them should have been available for sale. They were in awful shape. They had some fish in tanks together that should not have been. You'll read a couple of reviews regarding the neon tetras. They had green neons and regular neons together. They have a store policy stating that there are no picks. For tanks like that, customers are going to want to pick because they don't want one or the other. People complained about this on reviews and were rudely answered. Customer was right in this case. Not the store. The staff wasn't exactly friendly. The girl that was there was okay. But the man was just rude. The phone was ringing and he didn't feel like answering it. He yelled that they will call back. It's not 1980 where that attitude will cut it. You miss a call, you could lose a customer. We bought a couple snails there because they did look decent. They're both dead and caused all the other dish in the tank to get fin rot. Not impressed. I hope they read this and take this constructive criticism into consideration for the betterment of their business. Like I said, I prefer supporting mom and pop businesses but, honestly, stores like these are the reason why people just go to big box stores.

Amazing store, great prices and very healthy fish. In the 2 years I've been going here I've only seen 2 dead fish over the 80+ tanks they have. The store focuses on cichlids but has a nice variety of freshwater community fish as well. Great selection of Northfin food and a few tank accessories as well. The bigger gentlemen is very kind and helpful, he'll make you feel like you've been friends for ages.

They have an enormous resource of information to draw from and are just Great people in general... however aren't all fish people anyway? I went from a 3 gallon tank to 40 and it wasn't difficult whatsoever knowing I had Finatics to call should I need any help. It is my go to place for all things FISH and you won't be disappointed.

I got tropical fish from this place the first batch they were ill and 1 month later the 6 off them died, the next time I went there I asked for 3 tropical fish male and one female the worker there gave me 4 males as I can't tell the difference, the last time I went there because of Covid we're not allowed to enter so the worker gave me a sick female fish and died 2 days later, If I hadn't noticed that something off was in that fish, all of my fish would have become ill. I made up excuses for them enough, they are not trust worthy at all.

First time at this store for some sponge filter. All of the staffs were extremely nice from greeting, asking if I needed some help etc. the store is extremely clean and organized. Ontop of that, all of the fish were really healthy. I've gone to numerous aquarium stores in the past and I got to say this is the best store A+!

Love the selection of fish got some peacocks the other day - spent a good coin but I really do wish that I was served with a little more patience. The answers to my questions were rushed and the store wasn't even busy! I'll be coming back because the cichlids are great but will keep conversation to an absolute minimum. I love supporting smaller stores - so make sure u come here for dry goods, was advised they price match and honour similair warranties. I'd rather support a business like this than a big corporate store. Why get the mcdonalds of fish when you can come here instead and get some quality!

I had been looking for good quality dwarf baby tears all over town and finally got a chance to call Finatics to find out that they had a great deal on plants and had them available (I had called 5 other fish stores prior to this). I showed up on a Friday evening and had a short chat with Mike. He showed me the plants which were exceptionally great quality, growing outside of the pots, and were the best I have seen, comparing them to other potted DBT and the 1,2 grow cups I've seen in the past. Mike's price was actually the best in the city (as I had called other places) and get said he makes an effort to be the best price as well. As I get my dry start going, I definitely look forward to coming back and adding plants in my tanks when the DBT has carpeted and is ready for more plants.

This is a excellent fish store. Primarily they keep and sell cichlids. They also keep a decent variety of other freshwater fish and tetras and rainbowfish along with some common freshwater shrimps and some Amano shrimp. Plant selection is also usually large and nice I find that they keep the more common and easy to grow plants as opposed to the harder ones

Hands down the best in person local fish store experience you will have. The store itself is great on the inside, great organization of the different species, extremely clean, and most importantly really clean aquariums and healthy looking fish. The staff is not only knowledgeable but they have great customer service / social skills. Good store with many exotic fish. I got some red tiger platy here and I've never seen them sold elsewhere. They also got a lot of shrimp so if you got shrimp tanks. This is the store for you. Only giving 4 stars because when I ask to return 2 of the 6 platy I got due to aggressive behaviour issues, the owner was a bit taken back and he wasn't happy to the idea of taking them back. I might check it out once in a while but won't make it my go to store.

Found this place from a video in YouTube. Small place and only sells freshwater fish but the thing I like about this fish store is they have the rare fishes that Big box aquarium store doesn't have. All the tanks are pristine clean and fishes are absolutely healthy. Fishes that are hard to take care, they have lots here and they all look healthy and colorful. I didn't get my red severum which I wanted though but I still drop sometimes to check their stock. This is my favorite fish store so far.

Yesterday I purchased 16 fishes and less than 24h 7 glow tetras died. I had inquired the staff about them before purchasing as I am setting a new tank. I have treated the water, ran it empty for more than a week tested the water daily and everything looks good. The staff said that those Tetras would be fine together with glow danios for a new tank running for this long. I felt misguided specially after calling today and another staff member basically said that I should have researched before, google it before buying fish for a new tank. That if I have researched would see that I need to wait 4 to 6 weeks before adding fish. At the end just said it was my fault. Well I will never go back there again.

Super excited to be able to stop in at Finatics for the first time on the way home from visiting some friends in Toronto. Picked up some Galaxy Rasboras and Strawberry Rasboras for my 30 gallon planted community tank. What a bright, clean store with so many different types of fish! I was extremely impressed by this store. We had recently gone to Big Al's looking for advice on starting our first fishtank only to be very disappointed. So we googled around and found this place had great reviews on Facebook. We went in the morning during the week and got exactly what we were hoping for at Finatics. The guy working there was very friendly and seemed to just really like fish. He answered all my questions, gave me advice, and seemed to genuinely want to point me towards cheaper options or away from anything that he didn't feel was necessary. I also found the store to be generally cleaner and brighter than the other fish stores I have been in, so that was nice. Fish stores usually seem kinda sketchy with how they are always all dark and wet.

I hate to leave bad reviews, especially for small local businesses but in this case I have to. Bought $80 worth of fish on 09/19/20 12 x black neon tetras and 6 x skunk corydoras. Put them in an established quarantine tank when I got home, running for at least six months. Next morning (09/20/20) 4 of the corydoras were dead. Monday morning (09/21/20) all corydoras are dead and two black neons are dead. I have about 6 aquariums in my home and have been keeping fish for close to 20 years. I have never had such a die off. This is my second attempt at buying fish from this store that has gone terribly. Nice store and people but I won't be back.

And this is the best place in Toronto and Mississauga to buy fish. Period. Their fish prices are AS GOOD AS Big Al's. And big Al's has many stores, where Finatics has only one! It's incredible that they can offer such excellent prices, as well as great quality! At FInatics, every tank is run SEPARATELY, so if fish in one tank get sick, the disease CAN NOT spread to other tanks. Which almost guarantees that you'll buy healthy fish! (Most fish stores link the tanks, it's cheaper to run and easier to maintain.) The colour, quantity and quality of the fish is awesome. They have rare fish I've never seen before. Like orange and black Flame gourami. And Royal dwarf blue gourami..... Both of which I bought! They also have a great deal, buy 3 fish, get the 4th FREE, NO OTHER fish store does this! I can't wait to clean my 100 gallon and change the filter media, so I can buy my African cichlids! Furthermore, the staff are all incredibly knowledgeable, nice and very helpful. They even tell you when you can buy something cheaper! They helped me over the phone, multiple times, with many questions not related to the fish that I had bought! The gentleman who helped me in-store was also very hot.... Like an 8! (not that I like ratings based on looks in general... But I don't have a pic, so.....) Amazing! 2 out of 2 times I have bought cichlids from this store and both times they have come with camelanus worms. One of a South American cichlid and the other was an African. In both cases I had been told that the fish had been in to store for a long time and were healthy. I want to give a 1 star, but I have bought some plants and some panda garra from here that came in great condition and I have now had for several years. It is unfortunate that 2 out of 3 of my visits have lead to such catastrophic problems with more expensive fish.

I had plans to be in the city, so I messaged Finatics on their Facebook regarding a fish I was after. They had it, so I stopped by while I was in town. They had the fish I was after at a good price, but I managed to find a group of Fisher's Woodcats that I purchased instead. They were all healthy, and are all active and eating well back at home. The store was clean, lacks any sort of 'fish' smell that many other stores have, and the employees were very personable. The only store near me is a Big Al's (large Aquarium chain throughout Canada), and comparing the treatment I received at Finatics to a Big Al's store is night and day. I was greeted, the man I spoke to was personable, and it felt more like I was dealing with another hobbyist than an employee at a store. I did not see a single dead fish in their tanks. All the tanks were clean, none of the fish were emaciated (most fish I have purchased from Big Al's required me to beef them up due to how much they underfeed their tanks), the shelves were well stocked and tidy, prices were apparent. A really great experience overall. I will be making monthly trips to this store to pick up food and other supplies, and will be contacting this store first when it comes to ordering fish. It's well worth the hour and a half drive. Combined with the great fish and dry goods, the store also has a brilliant display tank right when you walk in the door. Extremely eye catching, and a testament to how well the staff here look after their store and their fish. Can't recommend it enough. Whether you're a serious hobbyist or not, this is the place to go for anything related to aquariums.

The fishes are gorgeous and the tanks are very clean, That it tempted me to start a cichlid tank. The prices are great and very competitive if not better than most stores in Mississauga. I Went there with a list for my planted sorority tank and was surprised to find everything on my list and more, They even carried almond leaves, I was a happy camper! Hi, thanks for asking. To be honest we expected an expert opinion from your team and bought neon tetras and asked about how it goes with the glofishes and betta we had, the answer was it would go good and no issues with the filter capacity we had. But as soon as we set them up in tank in half an hour to two hours time all tetras vanished. Either they had been eaten or sucked in filter. We cleaned the filter, entire tank had to spend more than half a day cleaning to make sure they did not die because water issues or any. So we concluded the bigger ones might had thier meal.

Awesome selection of healthy African cichlids. His store is well organized by lakes and by levels of aggression. If you have African Cichlids or want them, this is the place!!! Way better selection than all BIG ALS combined!!! I drive regularly from Milton, great service, great knowledge. I started the hobby with zero knowledge and have learned a tonne with Mikes expertise and support. I would give this store 6 stars out of 5 if it were possible!

Went here 3 times, place is mouldy, moist with no proper ventilation. There were many dead fish in various tanks being nipped by other fish! They had a deal where you could buy 1 cichlid and get another free however you could not pick it! Little that we know these sick, unhealthy fish came and infected all our fishes that we had for 2 yrs with ich, swollen eye disease!!! The bag they even gave us had mould all over it! The guys here that work here are all trashy looking and all burn outs! They catch fish with their bare hands and go hold bags and handle the cash register! No sanitary practices are in place. City of Mississauga should inspect this facility as the fishes are all in danger! This is cruelty against fishes!!!! Do not go here !! Don't waste your time, money and risk your existing fishes lives. RIP our fishes.!

I purchased lots of live plants from this place to set up my planted tank, I quarantined plants for 24 hours in salt water before I put it in the tank. A week later, my new set up tank with all the plants only purchased from this place is covered with snails. I have to throw out everything in the tank and started all over again. This owner guy Mike is also very racist, don't expect any good service if you don't look like him. Do not recommend to go to this place.

I decided to make the drive to Finatics from north Toronto on the strengths of all the positive reviews. I found it to be very nice, clean, and organized store with incredible variety of fish and plants. I was about to purchase six neon Tetras and when I asked an employee to scoop me 6 blue and no greens he flat out refused. Perhaps a store policy? I don't know nor i care. They lost a sale and a future customer due to sheer laziness! I wanted to give them 5 stars but i won't, what a shame.

This fish store has a lot of cichlids, community fish and plants. They carry some cool things like endlers and dark Knight Rams which aren't too common. The staff are nice and the store is clean. It's an amazing store and I've already been back multiple times

Very good Fish store. Good selection of fish and plants. Plenty of dry goods and equipment. Super clean and organized store. The best and most outstanding part of the store is the staff. Alot of fish store seem to be understaffed and its sometimes hard to get help because the workers will be busy doing various tasks. But NOT at Finatics. While all the staff were busy they were all super friendly and ready to help me at a moments notice. And its like this every time I go. I cant state enough good things about the customer service here. Pricing isn't the cheapest but it is definitely fair. Especially considering that the staff are knowledgeable on what they are selling. A must stop shop when fish shopping.

Always worth the nearly two hour drive. The place is incredibly clean, and is operated by some very kind people. I do not keep many cichlids, so I cannot speak for the quality of most of their fish, but I have purchased a school of glass catfish which I had no issues with, and tetras which also turned out great another time. I primarily go here for their selection of plants. The best prices for plants that I’m aware of, and usually a fairly wide selection, which changes often enough. Some species of their plants are often grown emersed, so be sure to do some quick research before purchasing the plants you see in store in instances where their staff member who is knowledgeable on the plans is not present.

I went in this afternoon to ask for some advise.My fish had frys and I didn't know what to do. The staff here were very friendly and knowledgeable.They treated myself and my niece with amazing service. My niece was very happy and even got an additional beta and tank, just because. The staff were very helpful and extremely attentive. My niece was very happy. Personally, we have a small community fish tank at home, but this place was filled with amazing, healthy and colourful tropical big fish. Its too bad they don't have the breed of fish we carry at home. But I'll definitely return, even if it's for flake food.

They place smelled like unkept rodent cages. The one person who help me was very rude, didn't even finish helping me and he offered to serve another customer as soon as they walked in. He also denied my child the right to pick her fish because they are feeder fish. ( We have a small pond for them ). The floors were dirty and grungy.

I went here because of the numerous positive reviews, but when I got there I was a bit taken aback. Firstly I will say his tanks are incredibly clear. The water was so clean, I was amazed. He also has a nice selection of fish. Nothing "amazing" but very nice. The few problems I have with this place are 1. I saw numerous dead Beta Fish on display, I feel they should be taken to the back. There were way too many dead for the workers not to notice. 2. Many of the tanks had sick fish. If you're not aware, white spots and/or lumps on a fish are signs of illness which kills fish. I saw multiple fish in various tanks with lumps and spots. In one tank every fish had lumps covering their whole body. I decided against taking a chance and buying fish here because if that infects my tank it's a whole lot of work to clean out and start fresh.

In store shopping is NOT available. Curbside pick up only. Store owner needs to update this! There are 2 guys running the store. Looks like they are fed up with the customers during Covid when they see them walking in. Well, who's there to blame when the info on Google is not updated properly (which they can control and edit). They ask customers to call in when they are outside the door!? So one guy did and you can see the guy picked up the phone from the inside. Seems kind of ridiculous. A lot of stores have limited capacity and they should probably put a sign or do sanitizing control outside (just like grocery store). They didn't seem too pleasant and didn't look like they need your business. Would have gone somewhere else. They seem to have good product though But need to work on their customer skills.

Had to go check "Finatics" out for myself after viewing the "you tube" tour at home. Incredible tank maintenance and water clarity, friendly, helpful staff and an amazing selection of all things cichlid and pleco. Hands down the best fish store in Ontario, what an absolute gem of a store. They have a wide variety of fish and lots of hard to find ones and they all looked super healthy. The prices are significantly lower than anywhere else.The owner was very helpful and took his time to gather the fish and plants I needed and packed them in styrofoam to keep them warm for a few hours till I got back home and to top all off gave a smoking hot deal. This store is 100x better than big Als. Would recommend it to everyone.

The 2 hour drive was so worth it, these chiclids are beyond quality of Big Al's or any major chain competitor, there is no competition compared to Finatics they also had great deals on their gorgeous fish. Most I seen were wild caught and colours like you wouldn't believe. Definitely visiting again soon.

Must visit store for aquarium related purchases. Setting up a 90 gallon African cichlid tank for the first time. The store staff took the time with the walk through and helped select 10 starter malawian cichlids. After a day in the tank at home, recognized that one mbuna was too aggressive. Called the store and they replaced it with a different type of fish - no questions asked. Fantastic service, friendly staff and most importantly, highly knowledgeable.
