Fantastic! Small place, seems to be family-owned. They're friendly and their fish is fresh and cooked to perfection: crispy, moist in the inside and not too greasy. Their chips are also very good. I strongly recommend to spend the extra couple bucks and get halibut, you will thank me.

Excellent fish and chips! The staff is very friendly, and the setting is really interesting - lots of stuff to look at on the walls. The tartar sauce is a bit sweet but it grows on you if you keep coming back. Ask for the fries well done.

Took my gran here for her birthday and she had a wonderful time. Her words "I don't think I've tasted as good fish as that in years!" 88 years old, we should trust her! Great Fish n Chips place!!! Just like the reviews said, great service, great decor, friendly family owned & operated business, great fresh food with healthy helpings. My boyfriend & I had the House Special (under $10- you can’t go wrong) & we’re happily surprised. We also had a side order of the shrimp (light crispy batter with a crunch to die for- no tails either ????). So happy with everything. The whole time we were in the restaurant there was a constant flow of customers grabbing their take out orders. The only thing we would have suggested was having ice for the drinks & a homemade tarter sauce. Bravo Applewood Fish & Chips!!! ????

My wife and I have tried many fish & chip restaurants in Brampton & Mississauga, but this place is by far the best! Homemade taste! The halibut is awesome and portions are generous! They also have homemade gravy! Absolutely delicious! Bring cash, because that’s all they accept!

I've had Fish&Chips in England and my wife's Scottish and we both agree that this is the closest in appearance and especially taste, as you'll be lucky enough to find anywhere. But if you like here but you feel like a drive there is a place...oh never mind just go here and you'll thank me...they no longer use newspaper or newsprint but everything else shouts...Mighty fine Fish&Chips!!! Simple food served with smile on the face .. the owner/chef was an amazing person with genrous heart .. onion rings and coleslaw was on the house .. we had Halibut and Chips .. the place only takes Cash and thats the reason i couldnt leave him a good tip hope he wont mind as next time i will make that up ... clean restaurant but not a very cozy place to sit but the customer service will really make u warm and cozy .. lot of parking and theres an atm in the convenience store nearby where the fees is 3 bucks .. i will definitely go back .. please like memy review if it helped.

Went there on good friday after church, it was pur 1st time there were no tables only chairs i guess that day it was only take out, cash only and no special either. Tried to order the family special and was told "not doing it today", im like why not? Anyway ordered 1 halibut (12.95) and 3 haddock (8.95 each)with fries coleslaw not included(2.95). Fish was good! Fries was soggy, service was okey.

Great little find. Went with some coworkers for lunch and the owner suggested we have the family meal. 5 pieces of fish, huge heaping of fries amd coleslaw. Perfect amount. Great size and serving for 5 people. Came to 8.25 each. You cannot go wrong. Everyone loved their meal. We decided this needs to be a monthly visit.

Can't believe I have never went here in all this time. First time visit a couple weeks ago and all I can say is nice! I ordered halibut and chips with a piece of haddock and the fish was cooked well - it was not dry at all which is nice! Portion size was good as well - they do not rip you off there unlike many other fish joints. The batter was very nice; it had a good taste and was crispy. The chips were plentiful and well made. Customer service was great - the lady serving me was very nice and I must say she made me feel very welcome. Also the price is very reasonable! My experience with fish and chip places rival noodles with how ridiculously priced they usually are for what you get. This place was a nice retreat from that trend. So refreshing to find a fish and chips place that doesn't gouge you and provides a good portion. Also the place looks nice inside with the theme. My only complaint was that it was pretty greasy compared to some of my top fish and chip eats but personally I'm not so concerned about that plus it is fried food so difficult to avoid. Also, not necessarily a complaint but should be known they use those packaged tartar sauces. Myself, I do enjoy those as well and in my view a good homemade tartar sauce is a bonus so it did not bother me but I would say it was unexpected. Overall, a very nice experience and I will definitely be adding this to my list of places to go eat!

I have been going to Applewood Fish and Chips for over 30 years and decided it was time everyone knows this is the best Fish and Chips place in Mississauga. Service is fast, food is great tasting and always reasonably priced. A family owned business where everyone knows your name. Cash only but there is an ATM nearby. If you happen to go on Good Friday plan for extra time as there is a long line to order and the wait time can be over an hour or so.

We are from out of province and wanted to find a great place for fish and chips. We decided on Applewood and were not disappointed! Our fish dinners were awesome! The fish was battered to perfection and the fries were very tasty. We would highly recommend enjoying the dinners made there. Great to see how well Covid precautions are carried out there too! Cash only so be prepared, but haddock and chips is great. I have had the halibut, but I don't have a palate discerning enough to appreciate the difference so I choose haddock which is less expensive. The staff are friendly and pointed out that I could have also ordered ahead so I didn't have to wait. I didn't actually wait that long and they gave us a lot of tartar sauce and malt vinegar. There is a family deal that depending on your numbers is great...five pieces of fish, three orders of chips, gravy and coleslaw. I am not big on coleslaw and usually there are four of us so we just order single meals, but if we had five the family deal would be the better option. Looking forward to my next visit. That was a year ago...now I think it's time to find a new spot. The food is still tasty enough, but the portions appear smaller (the boxes appear smaller) and the fries were bland. Other places appear to offer the same at lower prices.

Honestly their fish portion was small for me, so i had to order a second piece. And it was awfully oily too. However EXCELLENT AMAZING customer service, lines sometimes go out the door for their take out, so people clearly love them. Just not for me.

The fish is tasty as hell, but the chips are just a soggy mush of potato that I have to eat with a ridiculous amount of sauce to enjoy. You do get a lot of them however. If the chips had some kind of flavor or texture to them I would be eating here more often. The staff is friendly, and run in the back by a family from what I can tell. Nice place, nice staff, nice fish, crappy chips.

didn't know this place existed and worked in the area for 20 years. friend said he was going for fish and chips so i tagged along. the fish and chips were fantastic as was the owner. i highly recommend this place if you're in the mood for fish and chips. they have other items on the menu as well which i'll try next time.

Hidden gem. The food is excellent and staff are very friendly. They really want you to have a great experience and ensured the food was properly packed to retain heat and avoid sogginess by the time we take it home. Everyone enjoyed it and we will certainly return.

They've been around for about 30 years and know what they're doing. When there (often) I've heard people travel from all around the GTA to eat here. (Oshawa, Scarborough, Oakville etc.) The staff is very courteous and the owners are great. ???? I'd always recommend them. CASH ONLY - totally worth every penny/nickle.

This has been a favorite spot for my parents for well over a decade, and I am now sharing it with MY family! Their Family Meal includes 5 HUGE pieces of Haddock, Fries, and Coleslaw for under $45, and is really an amazing value - rarely can you find a Family Meal under $50, and even more rarely that accommodates my family of 5. This is a Hidden Gem in Mississauga!

Service was excellent 5/5 very friendly Location Excellent 5/5 good location Cleanliness 5/5 very clean Food 3/5 I have tried literally everything on the menu and would have to say nothing too special. Chicken breast on the menu is literally Chicken Fingers. I just did not really like the batter they use to fry everything. Price is very reasonable. However only cash is accepted at this venue. Overall this place gets a 3.5stars but I rounded up due to the very friendly owners.

Quite simply, this is the best Fish & Chips shop in Mississauga. To me, there are three elite Fish & Chips shops in the West GTA. They are (in no particular order except West to East): Tartan in Oakville, Applewood in Mississauga and Queensway in Etobicoke. These three are by far the best, all better than I've even had in England. The only match to them that I've had is in Victoria, B.C., they are awesome!

The food was good but the energy of the place is sad. The lighting is dim and the furniture is dated. I did not want to eat the food after I ordered it but I did taste it and it was good. They miss the mark with everything else. Dining out and takeaway should inspire confidence and not leave someone drained.

I tried multiple fish and chips places.based on my experience henry fish and chips is worst in taste and they have very unhygienic ambience. Applewood fish and chips is the best one as taste is awesome and authentic.now I can not imagine going to place other than applewood. Service is also unmatched and cleanliness is ensured.I visit this place at least once a week though fish is not my staple diet

I have been coming to this wonderful restaurant for 20+ years and have never once had a bad experience. Food is always fresh, hot and delicious. Portion sizes are big and crispy. Friendly service always. We order the Family Pack and definitely get value and great quality food. Give them a try!

Excellent. Family-owned, quaint, taste over everything eatery close to Mississauga Downtown. Accidental discovery led to an amazing seafood meal with family. Pro tip: Don't miss the mushroom caps (batter-fried mushrooms). They are a delight.
