Tino's is a legend for anyone who grew up in Medicine Hat but tends to fall a bit flat with non locals. The prices are high, the services is slow and the food isn't any better than the average fast-food joint. The SHAKES on the other hand are worth stoping for or even making a special trip. The list of flavours is huge (try the lavendar!) and the shakes are creamy and delicious.

Just about the only reason I go back to the Hat anymore. Still the same flavours as I remember as a kid. No place I've ever been can match their chilli chips and mushroom burger. Even though it had been a year since I was there last they still remembered my order. No, it's not the fastest or cheapest but I would easily take freshly cooked and a bit more money for the experience. A true local gem that shouldn't be missed nor taken for granted

Pros: -Tiramisu milkshake is all you need to know. -Best milkshake on this planet. -You will need a good 10 minutes if you want to read the entire milkshake menu. (Get a milkshake, not their twister thing, fren) -Tinos' burgers haven't changed in long enough to matter. - Fries are good. This comparing to bad fries al la Wendy's fries after 5 minutes or the like. -This place serves big so do not over order. -The odd nice car tends to show up... -The Friday night experience Cons: -Tinos' hours are criminally short, they close early in the year too-as all the best things in life, it's gone too soon. -Leave the seagulls alone, homie, they are gonna die of heart disease soon enough. -Say it with me...LINEUPS TO CONCLUDE: If you are from out of town, or can't get there while they are open, OR if you got a sweet ride, don't miss out on the T. Epic burgers epic fries. Better than Peters Drive In in Calgary is in this day and age. I'm not kidding.

I had high hopes for Tino's, as it came highly recommended by a coworker. Sadly though, everything was pretty average or below average. Nothing great about it. We had burgers, my wife had the cheeseburger and pickle chips (deep fried pickles). I had a double loaded burger and the mushroom chips (fries). My daughter had the mac and cheese bites. The whole thing came to $30 with no drinks or dessert. The burgers were ok, nothing special at all. Plain beef patties about 1/4 inch thick with a processed cheese slice and your basic condiments. Bun was basic, nothing special, just like the fast food joints. You can get the special which adds lettuce and tomato, but for a double it's like $9. I think the double would be a legit 1/4 lbs burger. The mushroom fries were basic frozen from-a-bag crinkle fries topped with sauteed canned mushrooms with peppers and onions in some sort of sauce. Pretty blah. Fried Pickles were ok, nothing special. They were just hamburger sliced pickles with a thin breading. Probably frozen from a bag. Pretty small and you got about 12 for $5 with no dipping sauce. Not worth the money. The mac and cheese bites were ordinary, probably frozen from a bag. Nothing special. The burgers are probably made fresh, but the rest you couldn't tell if it was fresh or from frozen. It all seemed to be fine. The fries, pickles and mac bites were crunchy the burger wasn't soggy, just was only ok and overpriced for ok. I think the says alot. I can't speak for the icecream, that's a big part of the menu, but it all looked pretty standard. Honestly if you're looking for a rock solid drive-in style old fashioned burger and fries. Just go the 5 Guys Burgers and Fries. Way better than here and better value. I wish I was wrong about this place as it is very popular and came highly recommended as a favorite.

What a gem...with the exception of customer service, this place was really cool! However, the general vibe of the team members was off putting. Lots of milkshake flavours, made with fresh soft serve and the option to add malt. Love this! I would recommend visiting Tino’s but don’t expect the warmest welcome. We wanted to leave a tip and waited patiently in line at the cash for $10 minutes, however nobody would make eye contact or acknowledge us so we could do so.

Stopped here on the way out of town for lunch on a sunny April day. It was quite busy at lunch time and our food took a while to be ready, but it was worth it! The Tino’s Special burger with ham was great and was huge! We had the combo side plate, which was an assortment of fried veggies and other things. The milkshake list is crazy long! I opted for the chocolate almond roca, which was delicious. This place is your classic 1950s burger and shake place and is a great place to stop for a bite!

But I can tell you that while we sat and ate at the A&W across the street, the staff there organised a food run for themselves to Tino's. They actually sent someone over with an order list as we watched. Think on that a moment.

The food is awesome but waaaay too expensive for what you get. Should not be walking away still hungry after spending a min of $15. I get the burgers are thin cuz they cook them fresh everytime but to only put one patty on a reg burger and expect a customer to pay for a extra patty is a bit much. Dont be so cheap. I usually order the shrimp basket with chili fries but every year the price seems to go up a bit and portions are smaller. My husband loves the milkshakes but 8 bucks? Not worth it. Also not everyone likes unripe green bananas in their milkshakes and im confused how an eggnog shake can be so orange and not good at all. Sadly after 20+ years of living here and eating tinos few times a summer i no longer go there. Not worth it.

Not all homemade burgers are good. Its just that, the price a little bit too high for a simple burger and when comes to the taste, the patty is bland, the appearnce of the burger, its not appealing because the bun, it looks like from underneath and flattened. The DT speaker is not working properly, i dont understand the order take, all i hear is the static. Just like the typical waiting time of a fast food, you have to wait at the window for more than 5min. Well the location is good. Sorry Tinos Fans, im just saying...

Tino's is great! A Med Hat classic. The food is amazing. The shakes are to die for (and there are like 100 flavours!!). My only gripe is the ordering system and waiting. I feel like an efficiency expert could do wonders for these guys. Pick up vs ordering window? Maybe waiting is part of the experience though.

Would I recommend it to someone that has never eaten it before - of course not, but when you are craving it there is nothing better. Love this place, no trip through the Hat is complete without a mushroom burger, curly fries and a root beer shake. Great classic drive through food, done very well. Just, don't expect it to be a fast trip, takes a few minutes longer than McDonald's, but it's worth it.

I say that it is very expensive and the service poor bc u wait way too long. It used to be ok waiting the long extra wait. But now the burger patties are smaller then the cheese burger Patties at McDonalds. It is almost like every year they're cheating their faithful costumers more and more. I remember ordering a king burger and never being able to finish now you gotta order a king just to get a normal sized burger. The quality is still great and I love the atmosphere even the seagulls but cmon get it together with the Patties.

This is my brother's favourite take out place to eat. We have never been disapointed in the burgers and chili chips. Absolutly love their milk shakes, thick and flavourful. We always phone and order ahead of time and our order is always ready to pick up when we arrive. Highly recommended.

After giving this place a second chance, I went back for their fries and gravy. Big mistake! COLD fries (mccain frozen crinkle cut) with cold canned gravy was deplorable for $5.50. Emphasis put on SMALL for $5.50. The first visit was shameful with the THINNEST FROZEN BURGER I HAVE EVER EATEN. Obviously, the reviews praising this place come from friends and family members and not from consumers.

Given the location, wait time, and ambiance, not really worth the price. The best item, IMHO, was their curly fries, and those tasted like the frozen ones bought from Walmart. Went there out of peer pressure... 3 times. I'll just take them to a restaurant next time... for the same cost. I'd do a complement sandwich, but ran out of my fast-food budget.

Great if you want to wait an hour for food. If you have more than two people you will not be a priority, and will be pushed to the side until they get around to your order. The food is relatively good however, the staff isn't overly warming or anything of the sort.

The burger I had was delicious, definitely a good burger. The chips were okay, but still good. Overall it was pretty good, not the best but still good. I loved the atmosphere and the staff member that took my order was very welcoming and helpful with the menu. Would recommend

Stumbled across place by chance. I must say I am very pleasantly surprised! The double loaded burger is excellent and the food is the freshest I've had from any sort of "drive in". Will definately come back

Not impressed. Just had fries and gravy. Very overpriced for frozen ripple cut fries that come out of a bag and some sort of really dark brown gravy. Over $11.00 for two small orders. Definitely won't be back.

Honestly, its kinda so-so. Verrrry friendly service and super staff. :) Burgers 50%, fries 50%, Ice cream treat variety 10 000%, pricing is typical, service speed 10% (we spent 28 minutes in the drive thru lineup on our last visit) .... its a cute, retro themed, Ma 'n Pop fast food joint that would appeal to the old, or old at heart if you're like me. We'll def go back again .... but only when we have LOTS AND LOTS of time to kill.

Great staff, great selection, great value, great food and a great experience for 54 years and counting. A Canadian Treasure.

One of the very last true mom and pops burger houses. Been a customer for close to 40 yrs. And seriously....the burgers have been consistent for all those yrs. BS to those that claim the burgers have changed...and yes of course prices do rise...look at your own utility bill. Thank the lucky stars that Tinos remains Med Hats best kept secret. Bravo!!!!keep up the good work. !!!!!!!!

Knows how to run a business that survives in the warmer months for as long as it doesn't get real cold for that time of the year. They do phone in oders with delivery. Anywhere from Just west of Seven Persons, out to Walsh, then up to Shuler or out to Suffield for all these areas covered. But extra fees as well. As well Elkwater too.

The chilli is sweet. As in very sweet, like a pound of sugarwas put in it. . And this place is on par with a burger baron or Pete's drive in. Not impressed at all and its was 15$ for a burger and very small chilli fries. I will never stop here again for anything!

I'm assuming anyone rating this place a 4 or 5 star have never actually had a good homemade burger. The patties are pathetic and obviously frozen. Sign should read "where thin frozen patties are king!" Price quality and service all are bad. Only reason it gets 2 stars is because the shake was ok. Save your money and go to five guys for a real burger. Thank me later

The prices were not worth the food quality. Fries were the store-bought crinkle cut type, served in a small box. The mushroom gravy was a little too tomato-ey/sweet for me, and the hotdog sausage was dried out. Also takes longer to wait for food. Some good things: there is a nice wide selection of shakes, which is really cool. Also kudos for the friendly staff!

If you grew up or lived in Medicine Hat then you'll know that Tino's was a staple here. It still is too! I'm in town for a few days and a trip to the Hat is nowhere near complete without a stop here. The burgers are so tasty and remind me of when I was a kid coming here with my parents, way better than Peter's Drive in or anything similar. The milkshake list goes on forever, and they're absolutely incredible. There's a flavor for everybody.

Long waiting times, burger patties seam to be getting smaller and smaller. But pricing seems to be going up and up? It just isn't what it used to be... what a shame how such a good thing has gone so far downhill. Shakes are still good. Maybe the owners should take a trip to a Five Guys for some portioning/menu examples...???? I am not going to be back.
