I had never shopped at Animal World, but I had stopped in a few weeks earlier with a friend and noticed they had a great selection of pet doors, so when my pet door fell apart, and I was left with a gaping hole in my back door in the middle of winter, I went there to buy a new one. I got one that was around the right size, figuring I could cut my back door to fit it. Turns out my back door is made of metal, and I don't have anything that could cut it, so I went to return the pet door, hoping I could figure something else out. That's when I met Rob, who noticed that, based on the dimensions of my old pet door, it was made by a company that no longer exists. He went on to explain I was going to have trouble finding a door that was that exact size, but it turns out cutting a metal door is super easy if you have the right tools. Which, while I know nothing about tools, I told him I'm pretty sure we don't own. He said, "No problem, you can borrow mine." A guy I had never met who didn't even know my name just handed me his grinder and explained in careful detail how I could get the door cut without killing myself. In short, I now have a beautiful pet door where a giant hole used to be. Overall, Rob was extremely knowledgeable and helpful and didn't treat me like I was a total idiot, even though when it comes to power tools, I absolutely am. Highly recommended!

Staff takes their time to gather as much information as possible before suggestions are made regarding everything from your pets, pond supplies, etc. Newer staff are open and honest about what they may not know and will have your questions answered by Rob or senior staff. I personally do not see a significant price difference in the majority of their products, and they will try hard to work within your budget to do the best for you. Not being a chain store, they have no vested interest in pushing or promoting items for the sake of corporate profit. At the risk of sounding maudlin, they share your caring and enthusiasm for your pets, from the time they come into your life to the time you are forced to say good-bye.

Animal world is the only pet store I will EVER trust for my fish needs from now on. The staff is pleasant and ready to help in any way they can, especially if you're having problems with your tank. In fact, some staff will go completely out of their way to ensure your fish have the best chance for survival in the case of parasites, and especially worms. Plus? The great prices is just a bonus. Other pet stores in the area do not have near the knowledge and experience these people do. And I honestly, greatly appreciate the staff's help in keeping my fish healthy.

I got one of my budgies about 2yrs ago from here she’s amazing, however recently got 2 guppies and a neon fish, 1 of the guppies died within the first few days!! And I think buying fish from there brought a fungal infection into my tank! Yay :( Update: All fish sadly past within 2 weeks, turns out it was ick !!! PLEASE do not buy fish from here

Whenever I go into this store I am ALWAYS asked if I need any help, etc. Lately, I have found employees in other businesses aren't so willing to approach you and ask you if need help. At Animal World, I NEVER have this problem! Also, Rob is an excellent supporter of the SPCA. He donates a lot of product whenever the SPCA has an event! Lastly, he also let me (and other patrons) shop after closing time a couple of Christmas Eve’s ago. I am thinking that I and everyone in the store wanted to purchase a better Christmas gift for our animal(s)!

I wish that they had more space so that the store wasn't so crowded. I am also disappointed that any time I go there with questions in mind or find a product I want to know more about, the staff aren't very helpful. Granted, I don't have a pond so maybe my opinion is limited in value, but I have yet to meet a staff member that genuinely seems to know the information I would like to know. I am better off window-shopping and then researching online before purchasing from this store.

I like animal world, I really do. But this being said the way they store some of their animals is improper, if not downright cruelty. Specifically the two ferrets that they have stored near the back, in a tiny glass display with literally nothing in the enclosure except an orange shelter and food&water. As someone who has experience with even smaller mammals who are intelligent I know for a fact that ferrets are intelligent creatures that need enrichment, as well as multiple levels and a hammock etc. I'm writing this review in hopes that animal world sees this and decides to greatly improve the ferret enclosure, personally it bothers me enough that I won't be shopping there or saying good things about this business to others until this changes, and I hope you won't either.

I visited on Feb 9/13 and the smell is absolutely horrid in this store, i think if they want to have such exotic animals they need better ventilation. There was dried up urine on the floor, and one of the bull dogs seemed to be in desperate need of veterinary care. The staff was all up at the front counter talking so needless to say I left empty handed. This store has gotten really bad from the days i remember.

All the staff is super helpful and friendly and knowledgeable. They helped with all my new puppy supplies, helped with finding my dads old dog grain free options and things to help with his dry skin. They even helped my sick piranha get better with medication, and recommended some things to prevent him from getting sick in the first place. I am always so happy when I come here because the staff goes above and beyond to make sure me and all my pets are looked after. Love this place.
