Negatives: 1) Lack of knowledge of their products and animals 2) Poor quality of live-feeders (crickets) 3) Overpriced 4) lack of reptile products Positives: •Clean and spacious •Many fish products •Their animals they have seem to be in good condition 1) I've spoken to staff here several times, and they don't know enough about the products they recommend for your animals... I'd rather have a staff member be honest and tell me they don't know enough about crested geckos rather than recommend me things that are bad for them. The only staff member I trust when it comes to information is a short woman with glasses, she has a crested gecko and has consistently provided recommendations and has given me correct information. 2) Their crickets are underfed and die off quickly and randomly. I bought 24 crickets and put them in my feeder pen. They immediately began drinking and eating, a clear sign they aren't being taken care of properly. A staff member told me they buy them in packages of 1000, they don't breed them. 3 and 4) Generally speaking, their products are overpriced, and they have a small selection of reptile products. I can order the stuff I need online at a shop in Ontario for cheaper, even if I have to pay for shipping. As for the positives, the store is very clean and tidy. It is easy to find what you're looking for and it's pleasant to be in the store. They also have many fish products, so if you need something for a fish like a betta, you'll most likely find it here. In conclusion, I want to like Chico, but my biggest gripe is the lack of knowledge. You can't pretend to know about a reptile and recommend the wrong bulbs or care requirements, that's how you kill animals. I think it's up to the consumer to do their research prior to buying an animal, but you guys need to also know the care requirements if you're going to recommend products for specific animals.
