I bought a fancy goldfish there. I brought him to the vet 3 weeks after and turns out he had 2 parasites: Gyrodactylus and argulus. I wouldn’t be surprised if all their fish were affected by a parasite since Gyrodactylus reproduce really fast and is very easily transmitted, even from tank to tank if the same equipment is used. I was really lucky I did a proper quarantine before introducing him to my big tank, but other people might not think about that and it could kill their whole aquarium. I don’t think I would ever buy a fish from them again even though they have such a great selection. I don’t feel like they do a proper quarantine with the fish and it can be very dangerous. Why I gave two stars is because of their other products. They have a good selection of food and other product for your aquarium. Such a pity since this is supposed to be the best aquarium place in Montreal...

Prices are a tad higher than a lot of places but the quality is generally very good. It's by far my favourite fish place. We went there last Sunday to buy a fish tank and some fish. We told the employee that was dealing with us that this was all new to us and we needed him to take the time and explain everything. As I was discussing with my husband about different options, the employee helping us looked annoyed and impatient and just wanted to make a sale. After choosing the tank, base, decor and fish it costed us 450$ ( which we were fine with ). The employee gave us horrible advice about the maintenance of the fish tank when first starting it out which resulted to our fish dying within 24hrs. Since then, I tried to call the store 3 TIMES and left 2 voicemails and still NO ONE has called me back. It’s really annoying that they don’t answer any calls and say to leave a message and someone will only call back if they had an account with them ( which we obviously have since we purchased with them and created the account ). I am so furious because after doing some research on the internet they all stated we needed a heater for the water, thermostat and PH tester to make sure the water is perfect for our fish - which the rep failed to mention. Wouldn’t recommend this store.

Aquarists like them in Montreal are very rare, but even them, they don't have some products in the international standards like ADA. They obviously have many fish selections, plants, foods, aquarium sets, and a many accessories, but I still don't find everything I have been usually using for my setup. Even CO2 was rare a couple of months ago, they didn't have the small cartridges for Nano aquariums, but just the big ones, so I had to inprovise and build my own. Having said that, is a great place to start in the hobby, but if you're looking for more specific items, then take a look on other stores in Montreal or outside. (I didn't found many stuff in Montreal by the way). I recommend watching the channel of GreenAqua in YouTube, this guys really Rock with their crazy setups. They haven't paid me anything to promote, but it's just a recommendation!!

I had heard so many good things about this store. So, I went there explained to the store clerk that I wanted to start a new aquarium and I was a newbie at this. I bought some substrate, products and two pieces of decorative wood. I spent for nearly 200$ in equipment. The clerk recommended to prepare the aquarium before I got the fishes. When I was installing the decorative pieces of wood, one of them wouldn’t stay in place. No matter what I did, it was floating. I called the store and they instructed me to immerse it in hot water for 3 days. After 6 days, I called to let them know that it didn’t work. I asked what they could do to replace the faulty wood. I ended up talking to a manager who (despite me stating every step of the way that I was new at this) told me that I should have known and asked if the piece of wood would float or not. He added it could take up to 3 months before the piece of wood stopped floating. 3 months!! Why would I purchase a piece of wood that will be ready in 3 months when I clearly mentioned I wanted to get everything done in 2 weeks. The best part, that same manager added that I could sell the faulty wood on Kijiji and suggested I that come back to the store to buy another piece of wood. Come back to the store? What he thinks I need another serving of his condescending ways. He must have been joking. Maybe I got unlucky, and I had the misfortune to talk to one of the most uncaring managers in the store. I had planned to purchase fishes, plants, the whole work. But I will definitely go elsewhere to finish my aquarium. Good luck if you’re a newbie and head there. I’m not spending another dollar in that store. The clerks I had met were really nice (hence the 2 stars instead of 1). But if you’re not an expert and don’t ask all the right questions, the fault is on you as that manager so nicely told me.

They also list their senegal bichir as up to 20'' but recommend 65 gallons.

Feb, 2020: ALERT to everyone - this store has spoiled a lot, they sell fish contaminated with columnaris and mouth fungus - please, be careful buying your fish there, and quarantine them for at least a week at C24-26. I got their Harlequin Rasboras on sale 6 for 21 CAD and I asked if they were healthy - after confirmation I got them and (I always buy from them and never had problems before) now all my Amazon aquarium is dead - it just took two days. 4 YEARS AGO I wrote this about the store: I came to visit the store from Verdun (not a short trip :))!!) on 17/01/16 I bought cardinal tetras (14 pcs) from this store - they had a promotion with a good price for them as they were too small of a size, plus an anubis plant, spent 75 dollars on all. The personnel was amiable and helpful and the store itself was clean and had lots of products. The fish are still alive and doing fine. I would totally advise the place for anyone!

If you are a beginner like me and are terrified of screwing up your first fish tank, this place is THE place to go in montreal. All the employees there are passionate and in order to work there you HAVE to have experience with aquariums so they will be able to accurately answer "any" questions you might have. They personally accompanied my process from helping me pick which type of gravel I should have to which type of plants are best compatible with the fish I want to have. They also have a little sandbox in the store so that you can plan your tank and play with their large variety of driftwood and stones before buying them. You can tell they care about fish, their tanks are spotless and it's extremly rare you see a dead fish. The thing that pissed me off the most was I came all the way from downtown to check this place out because I used to go there to buy my fish and supplies when I was younger.
