Was NOT happy with my Shrimp Boil I ordered lastnight! They do NOT De-Vein there shrimp! Soo gross!! Yes I understand if it’s cooked harmful bacteria is killed. But still gross!! Never again! I’ll make my own!
Love the atmosphere and the food. The service and staff are friendly and attentive. If you want delicious, flavourful seafood head on down to the Captain's Boil.
We come here often for its delicious flavourful seafood! One of the best seafood restaurants in London.
This was my first time ever trying a seafood boil after hearing my friends rave about how delicious it is. So, perhaps my expectations were too high. There was so much sauce that I could hardly see the food itself and it was thick—like I could literally grind the granules between my teeth—and I had to add hot water to it just to thin it out enough to be somewhat palatable. The shrimp to potato and corn ratio was severely off. There were about two dozen shrimp but only 5 little slivers of potato and one piece of corn. The straw that broke the camel’s back is how salty the entire plate was. Not only was there too much sauce, it was so salty that it made the shrimp super salty. I visibly made a face as it touched my tongue. I couldn’t finish it all and after spending the amount of money I spent on this, I feel it was a waste. Uber Eats won’t refund me. They didn’t say why but I presume it’s bc taste is subjective.. but when it comes to cuisine—especially one that costs $28 a plate—I expected much better. Needless to say, I’m disappointed and will not eat at this restaurant again.
Certainly an event. Not something I'd do all the time, but definitely something you should do at least once. Nice that you can make everything spicy. Come prepared to get messy
I want to come here but.. plastic bags of food?! Not something I'd expect to pay for at a dine in restaurant, not to mention the waste produced from this serving method! Can you request a plastic free dine-in service? I hope they take a look at this. Serving on a plate would be a much nicer experience than diving into a plastic bag for your meal, and eco-friendly at that!
Wonderful experience in this place. The food is fresh and tasty. Highly recommend the lobster and seafood fried rice, which are really good price.
We tried mussels and shrimps both with captain's boil flavor and sea food rice. they all came perfect. I can't wait to visit them again to try the rest of the menu
My wife and I celebrated our 40th Wedding Anniversary in May. We wanted to do something special and this feast went above and beyond our expectations!!! It satisfied our seafood craving and the customer service was absolutely incredible. Look forward to being able to go in and eat there in person!!
Avoid this restaurant at all costs. The food was inedible. If your only job is to make seafood, it shouldn't be rubbery, overcooked, and impossible to peel. The broccoli was so overcooked we couldn't pick it up-it fell apart! The wine was overpriced-they charged for good wine and served swill. (As a counterpoint, the other restaurant we went to after leaving this one without eating, had good wine for the same price). The service was terrible. When we told them we were dissatisfied with the food, they told us that the manager was too busy to speak with us, and handed us the full bill, even though we had barely eaten anything. We will never return and tell everyone else they shouldn't waste their time and money.
Freshest catches in london with traditional Korean ingredients that delight any palate. Choose from different sauces or get them as one in The Captain's Boil! You can never go wrong with mussels the size of your palm, or a crab leg as long as your face! Crack and cut your own shells as you enjoy the simple, yet elegant decor that screams, "Ship Ahoy"! A messy meal fit for king... Crab!
A pretty unique place that makes the experience a great one.
A bag of boiled food, with bad service on the side! Pluses: Their special sauce is tasty. Now for the bad stuff: the is very high for what it is: The cooks literally put sauce in a bag with whatever you order and boil it. If the service was great it would've 3.5, but we waited forever for our bill and there weren't any utensil options for lobster and crab. It's all about going ogre style and maximizing the use of your bib. Don't wear nice things. Also don't come hungry - you'll use all your energy breaking apart your food.
Awesome food. Portions were good. Serving style is a little unorthodox but makes sense. You can feel free to enjoy some quality seafood in a chill environment. Definitely recommend
Good food , nice place !
Went here while visiting friends in London. We chose Pirate's Feast for 3 people. The Cajun flavour was delicious. Food came out pretty quick. Will visit again.
I am not from London but this is my nieces first choice for restaurant to go to when we come to visit. Delicious food, many different options for everyone in your group. Prices are market value for some of the seafood, so depending on time of year could be expensive but well worth it in my opinion anytime. Fun to eat and be messy at the same time.
We were a large party with a reservation that was made a week previously. We were put in a separate room (which was perfect) but it was not prepared. The tables were not ready, there was no cutlery or tools for us to use during the meal, and there was only one server assigned to us. As an example, one plater of food was brought quite quickly but there were no plates or cutlery to use to eat it and it got quite cold before we were able to eat it. They need to be better organized.
I have been here many times, it’s my go-to while in London and I think it’s delicious but the quality has recently gone down while the prices have gone up. I also don’t believe the costs are market prices as I can personally source the same things for much cheaper, so for a business that buys inventory in wholesale, the prices are quite expensive. The consistency of the sauce also varies and is disappointing since I never stray from the classic captains boil flavour and would expect their signature flavour to be the best EVERY TIME. I also think that the food with shells should be pre-cut so more time is spent eating than trying to release the food from the shell and using the scissors to cut things only ruins the gloves and forces you to make a bigger mess than necessary. Despite my food concerns, the atmosphere is always welcoming and the staff are very pleasant!
Last night we ate at Captains Boil, we arrived about 7:50 pm and were seated promptly. It looked like it was busy earlier as several tables had not been cleared off and there were mounds of debris on them. That's not a bad thing as it gave us insight to how our meal would be. Put on the bib and gloves and dig in! We shared a plate of oysters which were fresh and cold - delicious. I ordered the snow crab legs with the Captains signature sauce flavour and medium hot. It was superb and lots of juicy crab
An impressive experience. The food is fresh and the service is good. I must say that Captain boil is the best restaurant in London
The crawfish was absolutely delicious, awesome service, cheaper than expected and a really good atmosphere, you need to experience this place at least once in your lifetime
As long you don't mind getting your hands dirty (which I don't) and don't mind a little effort put into deshelling your seafood feast (which I don't ) the price and the amount of food is great. The captains feast is great for 4 and I recommend upping to the Alaskan king crab, the dungeoness crab is a lot of work for little gains. The mussels steal the show everytime though, we usually get 2 lbs mussels and 1 lb shrimp. Captains Boil sauce for the mussels and garlic for the shrimp. The side sausage bites are not to be missed, don't bother with the lotus root unless you like that as I find it doesn't bring much to the table. Don't be afraid to ask for bowls or cutlery but the fun is in using your hands. Mussel shells make great spoons. Have fun and let loose, if you don't make a mess you aren't doing it right!!
Love the idea and was SO excited to try this place.. however when we went a couple months ago it was quite pricey for really tiny portions.. the service was good but the food itself was just okay. The sauce flavours were tasty but the mussels were overcooked and the shrimp was so tiny. Would be willing to pay these prices if the food was outstanding or if the portions were plentiful but that wasn't the case.
Food was great and service was decent. The fried fish was however a little too dry, and a pound of shrimp felt a bit less than a pound.
High quality seafood in a casual nautical-inspired dining room! It's fun to get in there with your hands and really savour the meal. Best experienced in a group where you can share your orders around! Be sure to check market price with your server on the more expensive items so you can avoid price shock at bill time!
The seafood was juicy and delicious. The $55 special, which includes 4 soft drinks, is great value and can feed 3-4 people comfortably. I would suggest chicken slices with lemon pepper source, very nice The whole experience was unpretentious, interactive. The service was amazing and the manager is so nice that can accommodate our request to have excellent experience here .
Good flavors. Didn't particularly like eating with my hands but it was different. Also, I don't like to peel my shrimp before I can eat it. Would rather have it ready to eat but, maybe they're fresh, not sure.
It was a frustrating experience to begin with having a server not understand what gluten free meant. Additionally the server did not really speak English, and when I asked to clarify what the server meant the server said "I told you". Ultimately there was gluten free options and the food that was ordered was delicious. The cost lf thr meal was expensive. I would go again but I won't actively seek it out. #localguides An update from an email to captain boils. It was expressed that ALL sauces contain gluten. This is not a restaurant to eat at if you have celiac disease. I did not get sick but the potential is there.
Two of us ordered the "Sailor's Feast" for dine-in where you get 2lbs of seafood, fried rice, fries with shrimp, plus 2 regular sides and 1 premium side. The regular sides chosen were potatoes and corn, and premium was the lotus root. The corn, potatoes and lotus root come to the table in the same bags as the seafood, which is no problem since they get all seasoned with the sauces that way. The one bag came leaking to our table, which isn't a big deal since you feast right on the table anyways, but the sauce was kind of leaking which is like..the best part. So we asked if we could get a bit more of sauce on the side and they said no. Then, the sides in the bag (again, this 65$ "feast" meal is meant to at least serve 2 people) had only 1 half piece of corn and 1 egg-sized potato cut into 2 pieces. We asked if we could get like, 1 more of each veggie and the server said no. Those are definitely the cheapest ingredients they provide you with, so not even offering another piece of half a corn to make it so 2 people can eat the "sides" is strange and a very easy way to get someone to write a negative review about what could have been a pretty decent time. At this price point and for this being their "Feast" meal, skimping like this is pretty pathetic. The food itself was super greasy but delicious.
I believe it was the owner that served us. Excellent service, excellent food! There is absolutely nothing that they could have done better it was fabulous in every way. The company that I was with also had a fabulous time! If anything that I could say that could maybe dismiss anybody from coming here it is highly priced about 45 to $50 per person. Now we did order the lobster which we got two of. We ordered the snow crabs which we had three of I believe. The shrimp that we ordered was in abundance! And of course it came with your sides of corn or potatoes and broccoli in the sauce we got was absolutely delicious! There service again was stunning and the food was stunning so I definitely recommend this!
I was ok the food is delicious and the place is clean. Kinda slow the service
The food is delicious, but come prepared to get your hands dirty! They give you plastic gloves and tons of napkins for a reason. The food comes in bags with a lot of sauce. It's a fun experience. Our server wasn't very nice and also forgot to bring some of the sides we ordered, but we still had a great time
Amazing food! While it took a while for staff to take our order, after the food came out they were more than happy to help with anything! Highly recommend captains boil mussels and Cajun fries.
We had a great customer service experience. Waitress was soooo sweet to the kids and went beyond her job responsibilities. Food was great, was great experience with the plastic gloves and the bibs. We loved the place and the food so much.
For the price, the food was just ok. Crawfish was overcooked, and the Lobster was small. Definitely won't be going back. Price for 2 people, 1 pop, 1 water, 1 whole lobster, 1 king crab leg, and 1lb of crawfish... $130.00
Stopped by there after a road trip with my family, staff that we dealt with was very friendly and always had a smile in their face. Food was also very delicious
Overall liked it and would go back. Shrimp are okay, but mussels are better. Crab not great. Garlic bread delicious. Sauces are delicious. Spacious.
My wife is from the Philippines. She misses fresh seafood from back home. This hits the spot for her cravings. So I'd say it's a must try. Staff is great. Great daily deals too.
The Captain's Boil has some of the freshest seafood I have ever had in my life and very attentive staff. Their specialty is seafood tossed in their signature sauce and that you have to shell yourself (such as shrimp, crayfish, crab legs, etc.), which is a bit of a pain, but well worth it for the quality. Personally I always get the seafood fried rice which is particularly good. I would recommend going in a group of two or more to split a pound of seafood along with one or more of their side dishes
I got the captain's boil flavour. It was delicious. Very fast service as well.
The service was Awesome! The food was amazing! The atmosphere was phenomenal! Went here for a date night and had an incredible time! Thank you for a memorable time!
I'm assuming management changed some time in 2019. Prices are up, portions are down, sauces are watered down. Just not the same place anymore. If you still want to visit, skip the clams. More than half of bag are empty shells with no meat. I do not recommend anyone to dine out here.
My 2 teenage boys took me today for my birthday & it was great! We ordered 3 lbs in total (1 each of crab legs, shrimp & mussels) with corn & potatoes & it was lots. We ordered everything with garlic butter (a) because that's what I like & (b) I didn't realize you could order different flavours for each type of seafood. The boys will definitely go with the Cajun spice on something next time they go back. Please dress accordingly as this is very very messy; as you should clue into by the beautiful communal sink for washing up beside the bar. Seafood was great quality. Waitstaff was very helpful & pleasant. Loads of free parking. Price was a pleasant surprise.
Deliciousness ???????????? we drove from Windsor to eat. It is worth every penny in gas and time. Tried Captains boil in Toronto and was amazed and found out London has one also. We get the seasoning with all of them mixed and OMG so flavourful you will want to put it on anything! The corn is my favourite part, order more than one. You’ll thank me later ???? Never tried any of the other menu items but they do look tasty. We ordered the Lobster, crab legs, shrimp and mussels with LOTS of corn. Pls check out the size of the mussels ! ???????????? The service is amazing ! He was attentive and courteous and always available. I will definitely make another trip to dine on this cuisine! Highly recommend!
I’ve been here a few times now, I really enjoy the food and I’m looking forward to returning! I could and have easily spent $80+ here. I would have given 5 stars but I do find the cleanliness of the washrooms unsatisfactory. For market priced seafood, the toilets, mirrors, sinks and floors should be cleaned and dusted. Especially in these current circumstances the world is sharing.
I’ve read it was one of london’s best seafood restaurant. So yesterday(valentines day) me and my Partner decided to try it. We’re actually came as “walk-in” without but they let us in. We first ordered shrimp basket and shrimp fried rice, their special seafood fried rice. Waiting time was terrible. The shrimp basket came about 5 mins, no comment on that. But the seafood shrimp fried rice came after 45 mins. How long should it take to cook this recipe???Waiters are busy catering other people, new customers are piling up, but they left us behind. We followed up the order and she said sorry too. I wanted to add lobsters and taste those oysters but I was worried it will take me again another 40 mins. Or more. I lost my appetite though.. the waiters were nice and friendly, however, I don’t imagine myself going back there. I should try New Irenes or Red lobster next time. The prices are high too, small servings!!I’m so disappointed I was not able to taste what we came for..too much waiting time...I will give ateast a star.. no offense, or maybe we’re just unlucky last night...thanks anyway..
Best sea food boil i ever had
Great seafood but be prepared to roll your cuffs up and get messy
Amazing food, taste really good and prices are soo affordable. If you are hungry is definitely the place to go. The restaurant decoration is very cozy too.
Dont buy snow crab here they will give you very small one n all skinny b4 u know it u will be long gone or at home
Good service. Tasty food. I know the orders on Valentine’s Day must be a lot but the waitress on the phone still give a patient and warm introduction. Thanks a lot. Looking forward to visiting this place after covid restrictionists pass.
If I could give it 0 stars I would. Expensive for barely anything. Ordered chicken tenders they came within 5 minutes of ordering and got me sick. Very upsetting. Can’t substitute anything at all and most options cost extra charge. Horrible will never come again nor recommend to anyone. Recommend to NOT come at all!
Alina was so nice she even make recommendations. She is the best!!
Good for a laugh, that's about it... I'm an east coaster and I can say it was a laughable experience. The table beside us had 'food' on the table before we were asked for drinks (about 25 mins). Drinks came, about another 25 minutes to take our order. When the food came, my wifes king crab showed up, still partially frozen, it turns out they pulled the wrong bag out of the boiler. No utensils, plates or napkins. If you expect a good meal or service, keep going when you see the 'Captain's Boyle!!!
The food tasted great. Good pricing for what we ordered. We had fun eating with our hands and using our oversized bibs. They had a nice hand washing station for us when we were done. The waitress was nice.
A really nice place to have seafood. Food are tasty and service are nice, crab is not good tho
Great food ????
The food is very tasty, the customer could be better
Food was pretty good. That was the positive! The way they serve the food seems a little odd. Food comes out in a basket or in a plastic bag. You are expected to know how to cut open the bag and then eat everything with your fingers and hands. We had to request cutlery, they didn't leave the bucket for shells etc. Brought paper cups instead of glasses. It was an interesting experience. The expected service level was not up to normal restaurant standards. Not sure if we will return.
It was my first time going, I enjoyed the food here. What I didn't enjoy was the too close for comfort waiter who instead of telling me that the sauce was to be poured on top, he picked it up of my plate and poured it on my food for me... Maybe I didn't want teriyaki sauce on my fish? And just very in your face for my liking. All in all, the fish was awesome, mainly from Canada, atmosphere was cool, except for the lack of actual dishes... They give you foam bowls and plastic spoons/forks, not so environmentally friendly.
I came from Toronto to eat here at this place and I will save you a trip. DO NOT EAT HERE! The price is ridiculous compared to how much seafood you get. I ordered a southwest crab meat sandwich $16, the bun that it was served on was stale and the meat was cold, the meat serving was very small and even the fries were cold. My friend ordered the sizzle meat and seafood plate for $25 plus paid an extra $2 per extra piece of seafood and when it came they didn't even get the shrimp body... they were served shrimp heads and the cook forgot the extra meat that was ordered, the chicken was pink in the middle. Honestly I give a lot of good honest reviews and this place might look modern and nice inside but the customer service is horrible, the chef is rude and doesn't think he is wrong and just yells at the waitress in a different language then english (we could hear him from outside yelling at her)We walked out because the manager said nothing was wrong with the food. It was even worst when another customer came up and complained about his food and how is wasn't cooked properly the same time I walked out. I wish I could give 0 stars
The food is really good!!!!! I recommend the fried chicken with Captain Boil Sauces, and the boil chicken with half grill sauce and half cajun sauce ,then put on top of white rice! Is soooooo freaking awesome! The manager he is really nice as well.
Portions are way too small for the price, food was very overcooked and rubbery, and the amount of plastic used is ridiculous. Flavour wasn't anything special and wait staff don't know enough about the menu. They informed us the fries were just frozen fries from the grocery store. Ordered the sangria and it had canned fruit in it rather than fresh fruit. Will not be returning.
Ordered the seafood combination rice and it was disgusting. Exxxxxtremly greasy amd flavorless. Service was also subpar.
Fantastic experience, we'll definitely be back. Amazing flavours and perfectly cooked seafood. Super helpful staff who walked us through the experience of getting your food in a bag and eating with your hands. And showed us how to get the tasty meat out easily
Having dinner here today. AWESOME taste & service. I love how the restaurant look like also, feels like on the ocean lol. Caramari is amazzzzzing! I will choose it forever! The lobster is so fresh and taste good too.
Great food excellent service!
Came to London to visit and my frd and he brought me to Captain Boil I know this restaurant chain originate from Toronto but never had a chance to try it out. Im instantly hook by the fresh seafood and their cajun powder is the perfect match. Their Service is excellent very fast the environment is cozy
Different kind of experience with seafood.. loved the whole set up and crabs there.
First time at this restaurant. Very slim menu and pricey. Ordered the chicken wings with Captain Boil sauce, no spice and had so much garlic on them that I couldn’t even eat them. Will never go back. Had to wait a long time for the bill to come.
Dinner
Second time we've been here for dinner and will recommend this place if you really like seafood. Be prepared to get a little messy as utensils are not used but that's part of the fun! Staff is attentive and friendly. It's no wonder there are more of these opening.
I love captain boil their special capitan boil sauce is the best seafood sauce I ever tried
Had reservations nobody sat us. Menu was slammed down on table. But not spoken to. Food was not great they do not use fresh garlic for their sauce it comes from a jar and it tastes like plus they use to much of it unpleasant and I love garlic. The service was slow and the food came out separately. The clams/ mussels tasteless the snow crab legs and crawfish were decent. We also ordered the soft shell crab taco and lobster taco well the best way to describe is rubber coated in chipotle sauce and half a can of corn they had 2 pieces of overcooked crab claws and it was very disappointing. The cajun fries are what saved this meal. Like I said poor service nothing great about the seafood can be said. Won't be doing a second visit...
Very interesting food combinations! I'm not a seafood fan but the meal was great! Lots of options for everyone! A unique experience! I'll be back!
Great seafood
This was our first time at Captain's Boil and we had an awesome experience. Our server, Hugo, was so patient and understanding. She always checked in with us to make sure we had everything we needed and was so sweet to quickly tidy our table so she could serve us birthday dessert. An excellent first experience!! We'll be back! Thanks Hugo ✌️
Taste was good, service was terrible, dropped the bag of crab infront of us, no plates, utensils, nothing but a set of scissors, 2 plasyic gloves and 2 paper napkins to eat our meal. I understand the use of scissors, although very wierd. Why no crackers? Paper cups to drink water out of... Server sat us, dropped meal off, and did not return until after our meal, did not check up on us what so ever. We were tbere esrly friday afternoon... 5pm. We were the only ones in the restaurant when we arrived, by the time we left tbere were 2 or 3 tables, but basically empty. We overheard the table behind us order fish and chips, and they brought lobster out - they called the waitress over after taking a bite of the tail, and asked what it was, that he didnt order.... someone made an expensive mistake. Its ashame that the presentation was so bad, and the servers were terrible - because the taste was good. I think we are going to look for another location, and see if its any better before writing this chain completely off. We didnt believe the server deserved a tip - we didnt leave one. We normally leave 20-25%.
This place is different. The food is very tasty and well prepared. I'm not sure if I like going for a seafood meal (which is naturally expensive) and then eating the food with my hands. The food is cooked but is then put in a plastic bag to add sauces and seasonings. The food is served in the bags. A rice side dish (delicious) was served with plastic spoons. Pop is served in cans. Worth a try as an experience. Not someplace I'll go to frequently.
LOVE this place! Of all the captains boil I’ve been to, this place tastes the best!
The food was good but they serve it in plastic bags. Which isn't environmentally friendly .I can only imagine how many bags end up in the landfill. I guess they don't want to wash dishes
Awesome food decent prices
The food is sooooooo amazing I can't recommend enough. The price is fair for all the food that you get. The building exterior could use some small fixes here and there and there was a small leak next to our booth but didn't bother us at all... If anything it added to their "below the boat deck" aesthetic lol
Server was super nice. Food is absolutely amazing. Love the sauce.
A very different way to enjoy a seafood dinner. Everything cooked in a bag and served up hot and messy. Messy food has to be the best! Plastic gloves are available, for those that can't stand sticky hands.
This is a very unique place lol. The selection is limited, but the food is very good. HOWEVER everyone needs to know this before eating here FYI: The whole first (main) portion of the menu, you are expected to eat with your hands (via gloves) and the seafood + sides comes mixed together in plastic bags. It didn't bother me at all, but I can see why some people are turned off by this. Thank me later. If you are fine with this, I do recommend ! It was very good. Cheers
Great place to celebrate your birthday! Look at this beauty!
The Mississauga location was better in terms of presentation. The corn and sausage came seperate there. The London location just had everything soaking together. Also the first table we were sitting at had a broken leg and the table almost fell on us. We requested to move and then the hostess sat another group there, my girlfriend warned them of the issue and they moved. We would much rather travel to Mississauga to eat there again then to eat at Londons location
More affordable than I had thought, but not cheap by any means. Stick with the mild unless you're pretty used to spicy food. Mussels and shrimp are the best bang for your buck.
Been wanting to come here for a while. Came in and was shown to a table but no one ever came to serve us after 10minutes. Were not impressed so figured it best to leave if that was how it was going to start.
I thought I did a review before but I guess not. I went with my parents, brother, aunt, cousin and grandpa to try this place. Half of us got lobster rolls, the other half got fish and chips. Our lobster rolls were basically the lobster soup on a bun which was terrible. My father had just come from the East coast where he went on vacation and had tons of lobster rolls and they always came stuffed with lobster. Captain’s Boil on the other hand had only soup on a bun, next to no lobster chunks at all. We had to ask for cutlery to eat our meals and on top of all that, the meals all came out at different times so some of us would be stuck watching the others eat and those who got their food first would be done by the time the others got their food. It was a horrible terrible experience and we all swore we would never go back. Actually Captain’s Boil became a joke to us. My dad will show me pictures of the real lobster rolls he had on the East Coast and I’ll laugh and say he should send that to Captain’s Boil and show them what a real lobster roll looks like to which he agrees. We haven’t gone back since. I’m shocked at the good reviews but maybe they got lucky or didn’t try the soup on a bun er I mean the lobster roll.
Summary: Great food. Quiet spot. Only 4 stars because they “forgot” to bring half of our meal out until the last minute. I enjoyed the ambience of the place although it is quite smaller than I expected. We came for dinner on a Friday evening and it wasn’t too busy. As a result, we got our entree orders of the crawfish and crab legs pretty quickly. However our side order didn’t come until the last 10 minutes of our meal, and this was after we had to remind the servers about the order.
Loved the service and the varieties of sea food there.
Ate with a friend last Thursday it was just ok considering the price hike per lb i would not recommend, expensive for what you get.
My husband and I ordered snow crab legs and it was good. It deserves five stars!!!
The Captain's Boil brings a fresh take on seafood to the Forest City. I had the lobster roll which isn't found on many menus in London. It was very good. I started with the oysters, they were good but not the best I've had. My G.F. ordered the crawfish and shrimp. They are really messy but they prep you with a bib and gloves. The price is reasonable for the quality of seafood they serve. I have no idea why "reservations are required" as we walked right in.
Got crab in a butter and garlic sauce. My gf got the same thing in captains boil sauce we both loved it.
Great food great service ! Definitely coming back!
I love their seafood fried rice and the shrimps ????.
Lots of fun and yummy seafood!
Food is good if you eat once a year. Very rich in butter. Price is a bit on the high side. Ok had the combination platter with a bit of everything mussel, clams, shrimp, crayfish. They don't let you replace anything in the platter with something else. I am alergic to shrimp. But they won't let me replace it with mussels. Once a year is enough.
My wife and her sister went to the captains boil for dinner. They were extremely overcharged for their meal. It should never cost $180 for two people to eat supper. The food was definitely not worth the price. Don’t waste your money or your time on restaurants that don’t even provide you with a price for their meals.
Went here with my boyfriend and his mother for dinner and all of us said we won't be back. Our server was very friendly but perhaps inexperienced. She took our drink order and then another server took our menus away without taking our order but she never came to check on us. After five minutes we flagged her down and our order was taken. They put an order slip on your table after the order is punched in, this is why she should have realized nobody had taken our order. My boyfriend's "meal" came out after 5 minutes. He got the lobster tacos. They were pathetic. Only two tacos, in a kids meal sized dish, with only a couple pieces of lobster in each taco. And no condiments brought out. The server then notices only one meal was out and went to make sure the other meals were coming. 15 minutes later we get our meals after my boyfriend is finished and has to watch us eat. Both our meals were measly and kid sized as well. We told the manager we did not like our meals and how it was not okay that the meals were brought so spaced out. All he says is sorry and walks away. Pros: I liked the decor, and the server was very nice. Cons: food not great, not worth the price, poor customer service We won't be back, but it's always hit and miss with new places.
1st time there with the gf. The service is very friendly and welcoming. The food is plentiful/delicious and the price is relatively fair. Keep up the good work guys, I'll be back for sure.
delicious shrimps and okras! Cajun fries is the best! Will come again.
Had a lunch date with the wife recently and ordered the lobster main and sizzling plate fish-rice combo. The food arrived in quick time and was very tasty. Also very affordable price - more than half of what the other Lobster chain would cost for a lobster dish! We've found our new seafood place for sure!
Hey captain, Well done! Thank you for dinner. That was a plus 10+ . Look out for me I will be back. Finger kicking liking good boil. I don't mind the plastic bag & I don't mind licking my fingers. The flavour is too good. After all fingers were made before utensils. Go captain ! Great cook up I enjoy the garlic boil ! Sorry all vampires. You lost this one. See you soon captain. Too bad for those who don't know how to use their fi gers
Very professional service. The foods ware come up very fast and delicious. I ordered a lobster with captain’s boil source that I never teased before. I definitely will come again.
It’s so delicious, the seafood rice is good, and the lobsters are fresh
It is the worse restaurant I ever ate at. I went there for our anniversary and ate food from a plastic bag. Did not get what we ordered and shrimp were crawfish. Afterwards went to Red lobster for a real anniversary dinner.
We told them it was our first time. The server was nice but she was clueless. We ordered then we get these bags.No prior explanation of how it works, no plates, no utensils given, no tools like picks...so cumbersome and disappointing! Why not a big bowl instead of a bag? Finally the assistant manager (?) came by and helped us. He had a stash of picks. Because of him this rating is kicked up. The Cajun fries were tasty and the mussels were big and from New Zealand...not from PEI! Final good point: the interior was nautically nice. We won’t be back though.
Not a fan. Food is not that tasty. Taste the same as if it was boiled in one flavoured broth. A bit messy to eat as well.
After the menu had been changed, it has been way too expensive! And I tried to order again recently, and the portion is still very minimal. Doing a business like this is not long lasting.
The food here is superb! I strongly recommend the mussels as well as the shrimps! The owner is very courteous and my girlfriend and I have used the Captains Boil as our dinner date night location several times and will continue to do so! The captains boil sauce is delicious, and the whole experience is a blast! DO NOT WEAR WHITE as it’s a homie eat with your hands restaurant, however the atmosphere is fun, the food is fun and delicious, and I couldn’t love this place more!
Delicious food and friendly service. A must check out
Amazing spot for hands on seafood experience. As you see in the pic, there was no leftovers
I usually get the crab with captain's boil mild heat. There is so much flavour and garlic, it is amazing! I got the lobster roll and it blew my mind with two hot pieces of bacon and a lobster bisque. Great spot and so much fun.
It did make me sick and the other 5 who were with me too, they also did have stomachache ???? ???? now I understand why are some food on an special price $????
Best place to enjoy the delicious seafood and best of all to enjoy their unique service. Love the vibe and delicious seafood dishes we had ordered. However those people who are first timer to this unique place has to research about the chemistry of their serving way , food comes in bags n u got to enjoy the meals with ur hands by cracking the shells of crabs or lobsters which make the sense why u have to use ur natural god given tools ... we all enjoyed every dish we had ordered n recommending it to every seafood lover.
I really enjoyed the service. The atmosphere was very homey and relaxing. To top it off, the amount if food received was worth the money...shrimp, corn, crab tail, sea food fried rice and sweet potato fries....yummy :)
Good food, first time being there service was a little slow for small things but food was great!
I left a review before but for some reason it's gone like other posters have also mentioned. Avoid this place, the food is so overpriced and the portions are tiny. I spend 60 bucks for myself and left hungry and ordered burger king. Service is nothing special. The crawfish I paid 22 bucks a pound and there was maybe 4 or 5 ounces of actual meat. The sausage that I paid 4 bucks extra for came on a side plate instead of in the bag. A few small pieces of it. Just a terrible restaurant. Called my family in Texas, crawfish is 3 bucks a pound and usually about 5-10 lbs per person is given.
I recommend this place for those seafood lovers ????????????
Not clean restaurant! Washrooms are disgusting ???? Food is very expensive for the amount they serve you. I don’t recommend it!!!
Excellent time tonight at Captain's Boil 689 Oxford St. W. in London. Chris, the manger was outstanding! He made the whole experience so enjoyable and the food was so delicious ! Will definitely go back & highly recommend the place!
Did not enjoy the food. Went there for the all you can eat shrimp and the sauce did not permeate the shrimp. Their Cajun fries were amazing and I woke absolutely say to get that. The Captain boils sauce is very bland , the Cajun is better. If you are there ask for salt so that you're able to season your food properly which you should not have to... The service was good, food was not good. Would not return as the food was not up to my standards. The best seafood boil experience I had in Canada was a place called Hooly Crab, they are now closed.
Excellent for a new experience
The place is at an odd location. But if you know its in London you'll find a way to get there. Went with my brother and I. I myself got the cajun medium shrimp, and he got captains boil mild muscles with sausage and potatoes. Both of ours were very good, but $6.50 for the sausage wasn't worth it. Everything else was great, service was sub par though. Our server gave us the muscles without even saying a word. Kind of odd but food was good, and filling.
Totally disappointed about the food today ???? I mean look at that. I wonder what is going on with you lately. Really poor quality!!!? Like half of the shrimps looked like this
Tasty food with excellent service. Highly recommended.
Thank you for your excellent service. Let me feel at home.
Good food, not too much of a selection, fair prices. Love the house sauce . I find the mild is too mild and the medium is bit too spicy wouldn't dare try the hot. Service could have been better.
Great food, nice service Toilet needs more attention to cleaning
I wish the crab legs were bigger but other than that amazing!
Came back a second time after the first time was great. 3 or 4 of my shrimp were really soft and mushy. Not sure if it was because of the way they're cooked but the majority had hard shells and were not falling apart as I peeled them. They first mushy one tasted a bit off so I opted not to eat the suspected bad shrimps. I asked the server whether that was normal and she said ok thanks for letting us know.
Meal type
The shrimp and mussels were amazing. The crab cakes and deep fried crab were disappointing but the shrimp and mussels made up for what they were lacking. Will definitely be back.
I came here tonight for a family dinner. The food was really good, but the service was lacking. We had to keep asking for everything, such as forks for the fish and chips, straws for the kids drinks, my water, other beverages etc. Some of our food was even forgotten. Each time we needed something, we weren't always taken politely. However, the food was quite good.
Great flavour. Their signature sauce is amazing.
This is an interesting experience if you are looking for something different. The snow crab was pretty good, though I wish they gave me a fork in order to pull the meat out. The shrimp was very difficult to peel and seemed a bit rubbery. The service was subpar but friendly. They provide gloves but the oils from all the sauce leak through them so be prepared to get messy. Lastly, they offer no plates, cutlery or glass cups. If you are not a big shellfish eater they also offer chicken fingers and fish and chips.
Tasteless food, likely frozen long before I got there. Great environment, service was a little slow. Overall get the Alaskan crab, skip the dungenesse crab. Lobster looked appetizing.
First time and it was great. But be careful u will get sauce in your eye if u not carefully
The food was soooo good. So seasoned and tasty! I ordered the combo and am looking forward to my next visit. Staff is great! Update: sat down for lunch. Ordered the mussels, king crab leg, Cajun rice and 2 pops which came to $80. However, the food is still great! It’s good to know that there is a consistent standard. I recommend the Cajun rice; it’s way better than any seafood rice I’ve ever tasted and it’s enough for 2-3 people. I love this place!
Too heavy and salty but good to try!
A different experience from how you eat in a restaurant, a bit messy but fun. All very tasty.
Not a fan of sea food but the chicken tenders were yummy! Also had really good service! The restaurant itself has a nice esthetic!
Food was very delicious and great seasoning but the portions were TINY !!!!! Go to red lobster instead and you will leave stuffed instead of 'satisfied' for $100+
Good food. It arrived hot, fresh and quickly. Ok price -it is seafood after all. They use lots of disposables though! Your food arrives in a bag that they claim is biodegradable however the plastic cups, bibs, and straws aren't. Also they use brown paper table cloths.
Food is delicious, but very oily.
I usually order dungeness crab and have never been disappointed! The fried rice is worth trying too imo.
Dine in
Won't be in a rush to return. Overall a meh experience for the prices. Staff were friendly, checked on us appropriately, but not well organized; room wasn't ready, food came out before utensils, room was clearly dirty. Food was ok, some over steamed, didn't come out with the flavors we ordered.
Just a bit salty but always a good choice
Excellent service and food as always!! Hugo is super kind and always makes us feel welcome! She’s a gem!
Excellent Seafood especially if you like spicy creole style. I love the fact that they have crawfish here. Get the combos, they are the best value. Love the spicy cajun fries. The lobster with garlic sauce is amazing!
Food was very quick to come out and was delicious when it arrived
Interesting restaurant. The captains boil dish has amazing flavour. A little pricey however.
I did not like the way the girl took orders. I felt like I was sharpening for food. In fact, it was the first and last time, even if the food was good, I care about good treatment as well
Was excited to try this place, came here with my girlfriend. I ordered king crab LEGS (emphasis on the plural part) no prices on the menu, she ordered the crawfish; when the food came out, I was surprised to see only one king crab leg plus a knuckle for 46.00, needless to say that is unacceptable considering that I could buy an entire bag of legs for that price at any seafood store (a bag would have at least 10 to 12 legs). I know they weigh by pound but why would I pay for the garbage knuckle piece that was cut off of the leg? I obviously complained and they took 10 dollars off the price, still a massive rip off. I have never in my 33 years on this earth complained about food at a restaurant or wrote a poor review but this is highway robbery. The food quality was delicious but I left feeling bad for complaining and also massively ripped off. If you are going to give someone 1 leg and a knuckle (knuckles are the garbage meat and not a leg by the way) maybe you should put king crab leg instead of legs on the menu next time. Will not be back and will most certainly be telling my friends. Very disappointing. Sincerely Jesse Ransome
TL;DR Good flavors, Meh value You get to pick between 3 different types of sauces. I've tried Cajun and the Captain's Boil Special Sauce (a mix of the other 2) and I will stick to Cajun as the taste is excellent. I really enjoyed the flavour on the seafood (ordered shrimps, mussels, clams) and the fried rice I ordered. Value is OK. Seafood in general is pretty expensive already, and this restaurant seems to be average in that regard. However I also ordered fried rice and the portion size was also not very filling. Overall I'll be back, but probably for special occasions.
Excellent place for seafood In our group we ordered lobster King crab shrimp and mussels All the dishes were succulent and delicious
One of the most amazing restaurants I've ever tried. The food is so delicious and flavorful. The staff are always friendly and very kind. It's pricey I admit but the food deserves every cent. The catch is always fresh and tasty. I'm addicted to their fried seafood rice, it's beyond amazing. My favorite so far is lobster and shrimp with garlic and herbs or lemon pepper. If you haven't tried it yet, hurry up and try it ASAP.
Worst experience ever I wasted so much money and it was soooo nastyyy. This had no salt no leamon no garlic. Just a tasteless orange powder with butter. I am very frustrated spent 84 $ to thr
I went to the London location yesterday and let’s just say I will never return. Lots of dust build up, waitress brought us our food in her own personal winter coat to our table. Our food was not cooked properly and was absolutely horrible….. sorry the sides where good BUT the meat part of what we ordered was nasty and for the price and not even being able to force ourselves to eat it says a lot! When we manager ended up coming up to talk about it all he offered was shrimp …..we we had ordered dungeons crab but not only was the manager not professional about the situation at all it’s kinda hard to take a manager seriously when he comes to our table with holes all through his shirt ….. all and all was a very bad experience and we won’t be back!!
Best wings in London. Lobster is good. Like here
Service
The food was delicious, 5 star for flavour and freshness but the service was poor. Waitress showed up once after meal was delivered. And due to covid restrictions it is obviously a different dining experience than usual, but we got no plates or utensils (unless requested). Strange but tasty
Best in London, ON by far. Do not think of your diet if you happen to visit this amazing place. I just love their sauces, it is a concoction of premium spices and butter that makes it perfect! Always be my and my family’s fave spot whenever i am in London.
Overpriced, 90 dollars for one king crab leg, 70 for the lobster. They throw the whole lobster in the bag and tell you it’s a pound. The flavouring doesn’t penetrate the shell. One regular side is literally one potato or 1/2 a corn on the cob. Interesting experience but difficult to eat, you don’t even get a shell cracker. The meat tastes very bland. Because the whole shell gets thrown in your food gets cooked with all the guts which is kinda gross. Quite expensive for what you get. Service was ok. Would not eat here again.
