Sometimes just a touch on the greasy side, but really this has everything you're looking for when you want to go out for fish & chips. Specials on Friday's (of course)

We are from Windsor and visited London on the weekend. Our friends suggested that we visit Olde London Fish & Chips while we are there. It is unusual that I would right a review but felt I really should give a ????to this place. It is a small family run restaurant, with great friendly service. The fish and chips were the best we have ever eaten. I had the haddock and my wife had the halibut. It was a light tasty batter, fresh cut fries and an delicious coleslaw. Delicious!

Came w my family. First time eating here. Service was prompt even with a full house. Place is small, quaint, w booths lining the wall and some tables in the center. We ordered large bowl of coleslaw, it was fresh and not drenched in sauce, which is what we prefer. We ordered a bowl of chowder. The broth was creamy and didn't have a box powder flavor like other establishments. All for of us had the all-you-can-eat special. On each plate there's 3 - 4 pieces of fish w a side of fries. The batter on the pollock fish was nice and light and clean. And with every new piece that you order it is at the same quality which notes for good cooks in the kitchen. Each battered fish had enough crunch to it, almost similar to tempura but smoother n still had that crisp. Not oily at all. The chips weren't crispy but not soggy either. The ketchup tasted interesting. Beverages didn't taste watered down nor were they overpacked with ice. There is malt vinegar, regular vinegar, salt and pepper and tartar sauce served at each table. All and all, good service, good food, good eating.

They are rude. I’m visually impaired and went to enter the store with my husband to order (having never been here and with covid 19, the situation is obviously different and I obviously don’t know their “RULES “). The front cash is blocked off at least 8 feet from the door. The woman screams “ONLY ONE” as we try to enter. Ok, now we’re totally put off. We both live in the same house. I can see if there’s a line up etc. Stupid and nonsensical. We look at the menu outside..overpriced and I can hear the woman talking nicely to the delivery driver. Nope. Go to Kipps lane fish and chips.

This was our 1st time ordering from Olde London Fish & Chips. No question they use nice clean oil to fry the fish in. You can ALWAYS tell. The halibut portion is certainly not overly generous but yes it was good. The restaurant has sit down service and take out of course. We walked in and ordered the food to go. We requested one Halibut & fries; one Halibut dinner (incl. roll and coleslaw). The cashier asked us if we wanted Tartar Sauce in the take-out bag. We said yes please. When we got the food home and opened the bag, there was no Tartar Sauce (and of course we love it and had NONE at home to use; there was also no roll) I didn't take the time to do this Google review over a silly roll (though the Tartar Sauce is a different story if you consider it a necessity like fries go with ketchup or gravy.) I'm writing it because on their website, there is a option to submit a comment to their establishment. I did so, just letting them know all of the above. They state that they are a family business and I am a new customer. No acknowledgment whatsoever. I was not expecting a free dinner for 50 because they missed a roll, tartar sauce and overcharged me for the "dinner" option that I didn't receive. If a restaurant values your business, you need to prove that when even a small error has been made by simply acknowledging the comment or complaint. I receive no response. So, for this reason only, I have been there for the first, and last time.

Here goes! Canadian multiculturalism allows and affords an individual the opportunity to grow up tasting the world practically along the 401... I grew up on two piece halibuts dinners from a corner fish&chips shop and fish from Kreskie’s in Yorkdale. Trying, I guess to recreate the ultimate comfort food experience in my mind....the fish&chip dinner! This was the best Halibut dinner I’ve had in two decades. Halibut prices have waged war on the thickness of Halibut pieces...but not here! The batter to filet ratio was “perfect”! The cook time was ideal living a crunchy and delicate batter with a moist perfectly salted and seasoned flaky fish fraction. You could actually taste the quality and character of the fish! Snap! Ruined.... Halibut and chips is now solved. Back to cold fusion. Give it a try if you love fish and chips and the traditional English style batter experience... Proper form!

I ordered 1 halibut and chips for me and one halibut an chips for a friend. A large coleslaw and gravy. And 3 cans of pop. Over $50.00 dollars. I asked for vinegar and tartar sauce. So let's begin: it was done in 5 mins so obviously pre cooked sitting under a lamp.the fish and fries so greasy and the smallest piece of fish I have ever got anywhere and was so dry. Oh sorry they threw in a little batter piece guess was supposed to be fish. they forgot the 3 pops, no napkins, no utensils So couldn't use gravy or eat coleslaw. They gave me 2 packettes of vinegar. WORST FISH AND CHIPS IVE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE. Never again stay away.

After reading all of the amazing reviews, we thought we'd give Olde London Fish And Chips a go tonight. They've got ordering/payment/service down to a tee during these trying times. However, their fish & chips is very disappointing. We had the halibut & chips. The batter on the fish was peely wally (very pale) in colour which would lead one to believe the fish might be under cooked. It wasn't. It was dry. Very dry. Stringy even. Chewy in fact. And the batter was greasy. Which probably means it was left to fry too long in oil that wasn't hot enough. The chips were about a 1/4 inch by a 1/4 inch, like chip ends, and although cooked ok-ish, they were definitely not "chippy" chips like in the U.K where they are about an inch wide, 1/4 inch high, crispy on the outside and light and fluffy on the inside. My husband was asked if he'd like tartar sauce and vinegar. He replied, "Yes, please." But on returning home there were a couple of wee packets of tartar sauce and no vinegar. Hard to have authentic fish & chips without malt vinegar. Even Golden Lake Fish & Chips shop down the road at Southdale and Wharncliffe is better, and that's saying something.

All in all, a very decent fish-and-chipper. The cost/portion size equation is maybe a bit stingy, which blocks a five-star rating. But the fish is fresh, well-battered, and crispy, and the chips are just right too. The clientele here seems to skew toward late-middle age and elderly, which is a good sign that the shop knows how to dish up a proper old-school fish and chips.

WARNING: DECEPTIVE MARKETING! Their website and in-store menus feature "Alaskan Whitefish" and "Alaskan White Fish" without the space. That led me to wonder if they were serving Alaska Whitefish (an actual species that is relatively uncommon and is missing the letter n after "Alaska") or quite simply a fish with white-coloured meat from Alaska. I initially believed that because they had listed items in the format of "Species and Chips" (e.g. "Haddock and Chips") in the menu, "Alaskan Whitefish and Chips" referred to an actual species of fish. However, based on the price and the fact that it was an all-you-can-eat item, I knew it was too good to be true. It also likely wasn't lake whitefish, which is an entirely different species. Eventually, when I stopped by the store to place an order, the staff admitted that their Alaskan Whitefish or White Fish was simply POLLOCK. You are not getting the true Alaska whitefish or even freshwater lake whitefish. For those of you who are not familiar with pollock, it is a low-end garbage fish that is used to make items such as imitation crab meat. It originates from Alaska and has a white flesh. So why don't they advertise "Pollock and Chips" on the menu when they advertise other species, such as haddock and cod, in the format of "Species and Chips"? I'll let you figure that out.

Almost as much as I enjoy the food, I really enjoy watching the team work together and having fun, they are respectful and help each other out and this place is rocking busy any time I’ve been in. All you can eat whitefish for 10.99 Sunday’s and Tuesday’s, the haddock and halibut are my favourite! Highly recommend

It's a joke. All u can eat fish and chips. The fish inside the batter is probably 1 bite per fish. Took my 3 year old and she doesnt eat fish. Gave her my fries that I dont eat and she didnt tell me shes charging me for it but mentioned next time she will. Even though i didnt order another side of fries and only ate 5 small fishes, which equal to probably 1 fish, she still ended up charging me. As for the taste it's alright nothing wow. Wont return.

We had to wait it's not a big place, the booths are hard on the butt, fish batter was very greasy and the fries. Having the paper plates were a big help with the grease. Their dishwasher was broken but still the plates were helpful. It absorbed some of the grease.

The food was decent and it was a little pricey(the portion of food you got for your money was good, i will say that) I came here once and haven't really come back. Maybe in the future but not my go to place. They have good options, service is very nice. I had my food to-go and it took a little bit of time, if you're on a time crunch, might wanna stay away from here, but if you're headed home and need some dinner or something like that, not a bad choice if you have a few minutes to wait. I believe they make it fresh so it took me about 5-10 mins or so to get my food which is fine, keeps quality of food high.

I find the main waitress, might even be the owner, is never friendly, she always looks grumpy and unhappy and doesn't give good customer service!! If I'm picking my order up I always feel as if I've inconvenienced her!! If she is the owner she sure needs to take some courses on customer service and put a smile on her face. If she's just a server then she needs to work somewhere else!! I go out of my way to deal with someone other than her!!

Fish was so good I would swear I was back in Europe. I vacationed in Scotland once and there fish and chips was absolutely superb and I have to say the same for Olde London. The batter was way above all the rest and I have eaten at many places that had fish and chips across the provinces and Canada. The fries were fresh cut and just as good and there was a good selection of fish not to mention the other dishes. I would come back to this quaint little spot again and again and again and would never ever get sick of this.

I had a craving for good fish and chips for dinner. We chose here due to the reviews. I had the cod & chips and it was really really good - fish was flakey and the batter was nice and light. Hubby had the salmon & chips and it was also good, but he thinks he'll go for the cod & chips next time too. Good portion of fries too. Only negative was not being able to order a beer to go along with dinner as it's not licenced. But not a deal breaker and we will be back.

Nothing special, halibut was ok and for 2 people take out was $42 which seemed expensive even adding the seafood chowder instead of fries for 1 dinner. For what I paid for was extremely dissatisfied with the chowder. It had way to much potato in it and almost no clam or seafood chunks to be found and very salty. Also other fish and chip places usually give you tartar sauce, I got home there was none to be found which also ruined it for me.

Also what made this a 5 Star rating is the kindness of the manager, he let my husband and I come in and sit in the seating area when they were supposed to be closing, it was an ice storm the evening we went and a lot of restaurants were closed, but Olde London fish and chips kept open for us and served us amazing food. I'd definitely recommend going here. Its clean and friendly here. Instead of turning us away they took us in with open arms.

My experience today was poor enough today that even one star is too high a rating! Fish today was soggy with grease and had the consistency of paste. Server ignored our table until we had forced the fish down. When server finally came to our table to see if we wanted more fish; I quietly informed her of my dissatisfaction with the food quality. Her reply was, “sorry but it’s cooked in grease. My wife opted to give another order of fish. When the server brought the order to our table, she informed us that she asked the cook to let the fish drain more before plating. Not surprisingly, the fish was not soggy and the batter was not soggy. When I went to pay the bill, I informed the cook of my disappointment with both the food quality and the poor service. He told me that the whitefish they received was not very nice. When I was presented with our bill it was unreasonably high. When I challenged the amount I discovered that he was given the wrong bill. I can accept some issues when dining out but a lack of service and snide remarks from service staff is inexcusable. Not sure if I will return.

I cant believe how rude the staff was. I went in and asked if my family and i could sit at the one vacant booth as i had a 2 year old with me and they said sure. So i let them know im just gona get my daughter from the car, in front of their store, and i was told that is fine. I come back in 30 secs. Later and i find the person that was next in line took my table. Now all of that is fine, it happens. But what's irritating is how rude the staff members were when i asked what happened . They both said we don't hold tables and litrelay just walked away like no one is there, so rude. I just left .. at archies now, a world of difference. maybe old south staff should come out for dinner here and see how polite and welsoming these guys are. Maybe they'll learn a thing or two
