The best fish and chips that is based on British style than any other fish and chips whether it is from Jack Astor’s restaurant, Rec Room at CF Masonville Place and other here in London, Ontario. Their way of making fish and chips was very tasteful full of flavours that reminds me of eating real British fish and chips outside of Britain. Their tater sauce and French fries were freshly made everyday. This business is around a sketchy neighbourhood by Adelaide Street that is close somewhere around the Masonville area or the city. I recommend this business at your best fish and chips here in this city.

We were craving fish for the last few days and decided to take to google to see what looked like it might be the best fish in London. After reading many reviews it seemed this place was the one. Let me start by saying that first, I feel like this is a fairly expensive take away for the amount of food you get. The fries were over cooked or re cooked not sure which one but I had maybe two and threw away the rest as eating them was very comparable to cardboard. The home made tarter sauce was very yummy and I liked it better than the other tarter sauce they offer but it comes in rather small containers in my opinion and as someone who loves lots of tarter it might be nice to have a couple more containers or a slightly larger container. The coleslaw is over chopped and is more like a gritty coleslaw paste but it is enjoyable if you can get past the wierd texture. We decided to pay the extra and get the halibut dinners. I found the fish itself was really dry. The fish is definitely not fresh. The breading on it was really oily but definitely the best part of the whole meal. Nice and crisp and flakey even once it arrived home. I'm not sure I would order from here again. Maybe its the price. Maybe its the underwhelming experience from the food. Maybe its a combination of both.

I came here not too long ago, I did curb side pick up. The man working was really nice but the food was unfortunately the worse fish I’ve ever had. I ordered haddock but it came out looking like a veggie patty. It didn’t even taste like fish. I spent $20+ for food poisoning and fries. I was very disappointed.

Excellent take-out fish 'n chips restaurant. By far the best I've had in London and very close to what I've had in the Maritime provinces. Fish is crisp with a light batter, not greasy, and the tartar sauce is unique. Service is fast and very friendly.

After being recommended to us yet again, we decided to see what the fuss was about and ordered their halibut and chips family meal. Well, we have a new favorite. The fish was perfect. Nice homemade slaw and tartar sauce. One of my kids is normally fussy with fish, but she asked for seconds. We will definitely order again.

Ended up getting 4 apps with the two dinner. Ate myself into a coma, but it was sooooo good. Fish was super fluffy and perfect, the chicken strips were tender and amazing, not a greasy mess. Jalapeño shrimp was great as well as the clam strips and mushroom caps. Will definitely be stopping by again for some more!

Crispy fish and chips but very bland. If you are looking for flavorful fish and chips you wont find them here. Although the fries and fish are both cooked to perfection they just lack flavor. The batter is bland, the fries have no seasoning. Their homemade tarter sauce is too creamy and didn't have enough tang to it. I did enjoy their coleslaw. It was surpringsly the best part of the meal. I ordered a day in advance via their website and they had it ready for me on time for pickup.

Overall more than enough due to the heaviness of fish and chips. Price is average, bout 32 bucks for a 2 piece halibut and chips Staff was friendly, place was busy.

I’ll drive across town to get my fish and chips here, always fresh made and delicious. Best chicken strips I’ve had in a while and fantail shrimp were bang on. I always get the halibut, the batter is real crispy especially on the ends and the fish has the perfect texture.

I have many incredible memories not only of the food, but of the people who have made Kipps Lane Fish and Chips the wonderful place that it is. The quality of food and the kindness of the people is why now, even though my family lives on the other end of town and I, myself, have moved 2 hours away, we still get our fish and chips from here. They now have a great and easy-to-use website and if you are looking for a nice English-style treat, I’d highly recommend Kipps Lane Fish and Chips!

We had heard so many good reviews about Kipps Lane Fish and Chips so we thought we'd try it tonight. It was a special night and we wanted a special meal. We weren't disappointed. It was so delicious. The portions of fish were large and crispy and the fries were hand cut and plentiful. I was surprised by the homemade tartar sauce. It was so much better than regular tartar sauce. A hint of curry? Our son is just home from China where he can't get good fish and chips so as soon as his quarantine is over and he can join us, we'll be returning for a family size meal. Thank you.

So good! Perfectly deep-fried, generously portioned halibut and chips, and I got the Captain's Platter which had other fabulous seafood goodies in it, each one delicious and all accompanied by creamy cole slaw, nice soft bun, and seafood sauce. Oh my! The box was wrapped in several thicknesses of paper, which kept it hot until I got home. The homemade tartar sauce was perfection, there were lemon wedges and malt vinegar included. I am stuffed, but happy. Best fish and chips ever!

This is 100% a true depiction of the meals I brought home tonight. I have nothing against the owners, I'm doing this to hopefully give them the chance to redeem themselves. I'll try again in awhile and if things haven't changed I'll confirm this review and spread the word. Very small portions for $14.45 haddock dinner, I'm 40 years old and this should be the kids menu. They claim to be the best fish and chips this side of Halifax and I can honestly say this is far from the truth. Overall I rate it a 2, taste was ok probably a 3 certainly wasn't the best or close to the best. Serving size was a 1 way to small for $14.45 should cost 9.25 seeing as it was 1 small peice and a small handful of fries. Tartar sauce was a 2 not that good they used hellman's instead of miracle whip. Cole slaw was a 2.5 that was ok but again small portions. The bun was tiny like one of those miniature cupcakes it made me laugh when I opened the box. Bigger sizes or should I say appropriate sizes or lower your prices. And take down the previous owners sign, I'm sure he wouldn't approve of how it's going.

I'm a huge fish and chips guy and came here for the first time. I ordered "The Shore" with my girlfriend and it stuffed us both, and really cheap considering it's seafood (around 24$ after taxes). The halibut is nice and meaty, not like the ones you find at pub chain stores, and go extremely well with their home made tartar sauce. I found it funny that they also give you packets of kraft tartar sauce which tastes like trash by comparison. Anyways, the fried scallops are also great, and so were the shrimp, but the oyster might be a bit strong taste for those not used to seafood (because it's so fresh!!). If you are looking for a drink to go with your meal I highly recommend their cider. Service is friendly, they know customers by name, and they always check up on you. Go visit if you want to support a local business!

If I could give them a zero star I definitely would!!! The food was definitely NOT worth the three (3) hour wait for delivery! The driver showed me that the time of his notice was 2 hours after I ordered and told me that I wasn't the only customer who had the same problem tonight!!!! I called 2 &1/2 hours after my order was placed and was told that the driver had just arrived. Half an hour later I finally received my cold food. Definitely NOT worth the $60 that it cost me or the unnecessarily long wait time! I will not be ordering from here again!!!!!

There's just not another option for fish and chips here in London. It's a good thing then that Kipps Lane is so good. Make sure to go for their home tartar sauce and get your order in early to avoid the long wait. Take out is the best option, because there aren't many seats available and the dining area is cramped. Order out and go home knowing you supported a great locally-owned establishment.

Update March 28/19 By far the BEST Fish n Chips in all of London if not Ontario. The homemade coleslaw is to die for. The starter sauce is the best and better then any store bought or any other restaurant I've had fish n chips at. The staff are super friendly and so professional. They always have a smile ???? they call you by your name if they get to know ya. And it's the same owners since 1972 that's amazing in itself. In all honesty you are also better off to call in your order. It may save you time waiting around it is always busy. ????????

I am a long-standing customer and my favorite is the Captain’s Choice Dinner which includes a portion of Halibut with a little bonus piece, one deep fried breaded shrimp, two deep fried breaded scallops and one deep fried breaded oyster which I have replaced with another shrimp or scallop which I prefer. It comes with delicious fries, house made creamy coleslaw, tartar sauce and a dinner role. I highly recommend it & it is too much for me and I take the rest home. Today I tried something new for me, The Tuesday Special — Halibut Fishcake Dinner shown in the photo. It was good but the Captain’s Choice Dinner will remain my favorite hands down. Try it and you will love it. My son who is vegetarian love their kale salad, fries and rings.

The fish was good, the wait was ridiculous. We ordered in advance from skip the dishes and was told to be there at 6:30, waited until 6:50.... (this is for fish and chips.) Fries were soggy. The place is very highly rated and was recommended by a friend, it was a let down.

Another local family run business that's kept the old school customer service top notch. This mom and pop shop is exactly what I had back home. Glad I found it! Opened in 1982!!! A bit pricey (fish and chip places always are). But I had a great meal and didn't have to clean up after. Also, be sure to call ahead... They're very busy.

By far the best fish and chips I have had in my 30 years on Earth, and I have tried my fair share of restaurants as that is one of my favourite dishes. The fish is perfectly cooked, crispy, falls apart In your mouth and is wrapped in newspaper as per tradition. It tastes far better than any fish I have ever had the pleasure of trying. And to add to that, the fries..thick cut, perfectly crispy on the outside and light and fluffy on the inside. The only way the experience could get any better is if the staff was friendly and welcoming, oh wait, they are! Back in 1998 and 1999 I lived in London on Kipps Lane. I was a truck driver just about every Friday night. I would get back from my week away. This is where I would always go for supper. Make sure to look through takeout bag before leaving the restaurant. Last night got home with my order and the tartar sauce was missing. Time before that, dinner rolls and coleslaw were missing. Called to let them know and no apology given during call. Not sure if I would go back now after lack of apology. “UPDATE” the manager called and offered an apology and has gone out of his way to rectify this matter. I’m truly impressed by how quickly they contacted me to make me feel like a valued customer.

Their website was surprisingly user-friendly- quick and easy order was a good start. Food was delicious and staff was very friendly! After we had left they called us because they forgot to put our appetizer in the bag, they apologized a few times and gave us a free brownie when we went back. Not at all mad! I put an order in for lunch on Good Friday. No one got back to me to confirm but I arrived earlier then I needed to, to pick up my order...or place an order in case they didn’t process it. When I got there, they shared that they weren’t taking any new orders...and did not get my request for an order. They blamed me for leaving a message, and told me I was lying, when I told them their machine doesn’t say that you CANT leave a message, just that they don’t check it when they are open and busy. They refused to help me as a walk-in. (Which again, they could have indicated on their voicemail). I now have no lunch for all my guests coming!! I would recommend everyone go somewhere else with GOOD customer service and respect for their customers.

A small and very friendly mom & pop -sized operation with a four decade long history and loyal local following. I had the fish and chips and it was better than average, though the batter was thick and this can make the planks greasy. Still I would return and try other items from the menu.

I so rarely give a five-star rating. This place is as close to perfection as it gets. Not everything is fresh, but what is, is the best. Delicious. Hot. Cooked right there. Even the Caesar Salad was on point. Their scallops are tender and flavourful. The fish batter so crispy and the fish so light and flakey. I don't know why they would ever offer the Kraft packaged tartar sauce, because their house sauce is perfection. Way better than from a factory. The only criticism I have is the furniture is a bit cheap and the lighting is like a hospital hallway. The staff is amazing. A real gem. This is the kind of place you rarely find. Obviously passionate about quality.

Honestly such a delightful place! Such a lovely little family owned shop that was been there since my Mum was in University. It was opened by this Scandinavian couple and is now run by their daughter. Everyone there is super nice. Also probably the best Fish and Chip place in the city.
