I do not recommend. I went on Uber Eats order from them it's 6:49 for delivery LOL then I call them because ubereats said they are currently unavailable to find out I had to pay more delivery when there 5 minutes down the road. This place is nothing but a scam. If you're trying to make a few bucks by your delivery that's pathetic. The sad thing is I run a service where I drive all day long and I provide it free. Because what I'm picking up is what I make. Just like you selling your food I don't know why you got to charge so much for your delivery cost gas is not that much. And we all know what delivery guys get paid. Stop trying to pocket profit off your delivery charges. Pay for the service if you want people to love your restaurant thanks but no thanks I just went to Archie's have a great day

1st time visit on Sunday April 4 2021. Called in order for pick up. 2 pieces Halibut and chips, 1 poutine, 1 greek salad, 1 onion rings. Yes..i was hungry! ???? Both pieces of fish were huge. Had regular batter vs. light. Absolutely perfect. Flaky, tasty. French fries delicious, not over cooked. Onion rings perfectly battered, cooked. My 18 yr. niece... poutine, she enjoyed very much. My sister... piece of fish, greek salad, fries, onion rings.. loved everything. Was ready in 10-15 minutes. Highly recommend. Prices fine for quality and large servings .

Ordered a dinner for 2. Medium fries and homemade tarter sauce. We received barely enough fries for one and tarter sauce packets. Very greasy. Too much batter and it was overdone. Definitely not worth the price. I wouldn’t order from here again.

I'm always a little leery about trying a new seafood restaurant. Finally tried Golden Lake Seafood for fish and chips and wasn't disappointed. It was really good! There is a lot of large booth seating and the service is good . If you're with someone who isn't a seafood fan plenty of other choices are offered. Daily specials are also offered which are a good deal. The daily special for Thursday was haddock, 4 deep-fried Shrimp , Cole slaw and choice of dessert. Cole slaw doesn't come with a regular order of fish and chips, it's $1.29 extra. Worth it. It's delicious! All the portions are a good size. My husband ordered the special with ice cream for dessert and I had the halibut with light batter. We went home very satisfied.

Delious haddock and garlic shrimp combo. Tartar sauce tasted home made and not served in that little 2oz. paper cup. Megan brought a squirt bottle full. Megan is an amazing server BTW. Yes, fries are your average fare but gravy was great. Fair prices, plenty of food & dinner even came with garlic bread. Archies prices seem to keep going up but not the value. We love the "new ship in town." Golden Lake......we will be back!!!

Worst fish & chips ever ... Impressed with the cleanliness and that employees respected Covid19 recommendations of masks, gloves etc.... but the food and price definitely did not match with the cleanliness of the place. Ordered fish&chips and battered mushrooms. Fries were good... fish was all batter and not much fish, would have preferred less batter. Fish and mushrooms were SOAKED in oil we ended up throwing out the mushrooms and removing the batter from the fish. Spent almost $34 for fries, 2 pieces of overly-battered drenched-in-oil-cod and battered mushrooms. Wouldn't have minded spending as much if the food was good. (No drinks).

I ordered this place last year and loved it, I ordered it for take out again today because I wanted fish and chips and was very horrified with the experience. The fish is not even cooked, the batter is literally still raw, wet, and squishy. The fries are also not even cooked, they are soaking wet and still half defrosted… it’s really not hard to cook your food.. the last time I had it, it was good. Disappointing, will not be coming back

1st time ordering from this fish location. Ordered the Halibut Dinner with slaw $17.99 , onion rings $5.99 & beef gravy $3.49 ,delivery was $7.00. Terrible Terrible choice of location. The batter was extremely thick ( order thin) , very greasy, very mushy & the fish was extremely dry ….. 2 bites & it was in the garbage. The fry’s were extremely greasy & mushy becuz the fish was in top of them. The beef gravy was very blan and had a very sour note which indicates it was expired ( OLD ) . The onion rings were over cooked Burt and greasy . Seriously a very bad choice in my part . DO NOT EAT HERE .

When I first get into the restaurant, I never expect much from what they offer and im pleasantly surprise of how nice the server were and how clean the place is. We order is baked haddock dinner and I must say that's one of the best baked haddock I have tried in london ont. The fish is cooked prefectly, the rice is nice and the veggies tasty fresh. Price is moderate, although the place is pretty isolated it will be hard to get there without a car. Would recommend this restaurant

Fish tasted fishy. It was too greasy, fairly hard in places. The fries were soggy and underdone with no seasoning on them whatsoever. The employee at the store was unaware of the pricing on Uber Eats and offered no help when my order was wrong regardless of me paying $30 for 2 pieces of fish and a pop and only recieving one piece of fish. Unhappy with the food, unhappy with the service and will not be ordering from Golden Lake again.

The fish is good with a nice crunchy batter. Their shrimp skewers were relatively large shrimps compared to their competition which made for a nice and meaty snack. I tried their rice and i was impressed for a simple dish that looked premade. Their coconut cream pie was about 3 inch tall and a very large slice which tasted and looked homemade. Overall i enjoyed it and would like to go back soon and try their other dishes.

This place is awesome! We are already planning our next visit. The decor is nice, casual and makes use of the space. There are both comfy booths and tables available. We were a party of seven, so we got to sample quite a bit of their seafood dinners although there is more on the menu that i want to try, not only fish.. There is something for everyone. The halibut, the haddock, the fish bites, the deep fried and skewered shrimp, fried chicken, shish tawook, even the sides like the fries and coleslaw were all exceptional! No one had any complaints. One thought shared by everyone was although it was mostly fried food, it did not feel oily or heavy, just perfect! It was a busy Sunday evening, almost a full house, but that did not affect the service nor the wait time for the food to come out. Overall a great experience, would definitely recommend it.

For a place that only does fish n chips I would expect much better. Fries were frozen not fresh cut. Coleslaw seemed old as it was grey and translucent. Package tartar...your sa specialty restaurant you should specialize. Fresh cut fries, non greasy fish and homemade tartar....anyways for the price I thought I was getting quality...I'll go back to my regular fish n chip shops.

Took a star away as I've had 2 incidents, the menu wasn't very descriptive and didn't mention that there were mushrooms, which I'm allergic to, smothered over an item I ordered. Definitely a place to go if you're from the city, but not a travel destination. Classic fish and chips joint that is gaining some (well earned) popularity on the back of reasonable prices, above average quality, and large portions. A couple suggestions: their "regular" batter is fairly heavy (though really tasty), so I would recommend light batter. And similar to other reviews: the coleslaw portion/quality is not worth paying for... Ownership should really reconsider this.

This is a real gem in London Ontario for fish and chips. The portions are huge!!! But not only are they huge they are so very delicious. My very favourite part is they have an entire squeeze bottle of tartar sauce on the table. Not those stupid packets you have to open or not enough to cover a tooth of your fish!!! This little restaurant is lovely and clean, has wonderful service and delicious fish and chips. I love fish and chips, but it is hard to find a place that has a nice light crispy batter and, offers a good price as well as quality fish. Golden lake delivers on these things and they do it so well. I personally think they put Walker's to shame. If you are looking for a great piece of crispy yet light halibut and chips this is the place to go.

The Fish Batter was crisp on the outside and slightly fluffy on the inside and the shrimps were large and not what we expected. Coleslaw was creamy. Kids Sampler plate is good for our little one and still had to take a box home. (No photos since we ate it all up, before we had a chance to snap a pic ????)

After many recommendations from friends and family, Golden Lake definitely lived up to expectations. Our server was extremely friendly and the speed at which our food arrived was rather impressive. The fish and chips along with the fries were all high quality and supported with very reasonable prices. In terms of value and quality, Golden Lake Seafood Restaurant is a big hit.

Absolutely fantastic meal! I had the haddock & garlic shrimp with sweet potato fries. The taste of the garlic shrimp was amazing, tender and juicy! I will definitely be back again and again. Oh boy do my wife and I love this place for fish and chips. I find their prices a little more that I would like but we still keep coming back for some halibut and onion rings. They gave me my food one night and I forgot to pay, I couldn't leave without so went back to pay because it is such a homely place that I didn't want to cheap them out.

This is a fantastic restaurant, clean, friendly staff, and absolutely delicious food! Our first time visiting today but will certainly not be the last. The Halibut was beautifully cooked, excellent fries, shrimp perfect, coleslaw one of the best I've had and what can I say about the mushy peas, perfect, just like mum used to make. Well worth a visit. They have a varied menu so if you don't won't fish and chips, there are many other alternatives. Great job, keep up the good work.

A proper fish and chips restaurant does not use frozen chips. The fish and batter are good but without hand cut chips I can't rate this place too highly. I've been to this place a few times but I think they've seen the last of us. One more thing. How many restaurants charge an extra $1.25 for Cole slaw?

My wife had this place recommended to her from customers at her work. This was our first opportunity to visit. The fish and chips were great. My wife had the cod & chips and I had the haddock, both were fresh crispy hot and golden. The place has probably a dozen or so good size booths, looked very clean. Service was prompt and friendly. This was the first and last time for us. I ordered the seafood combo with battered fish, fries and 5 breaded shrimp. The shrimp was over cooked and chewy. The fish was all batter. I had to pick the batter off because there was so much and there wasn’t much fish in there. The fries were not cooked enough so soggy. My husband had the garlic shrimp and rice. He liked his. It looked way better than my meal. I was disappointed and felt like half mine went into the garbage.

I posted a review on their Facebook page but I thought I would double up here as well. We have now tried Golden Lake twice now, both times as takeout. We've always used "Archie's" as the benchmark for what we consider GOOD fish and chips. We've wanted to try Olde London Fish N Chips but it seems like any time we've gone there, the lineup is way too long. So naturally we were curious when Golden Lake opened. So we ordered the haddock dinner for 2 the first time, and the dinner for 3 the second time. Each time the fish was fantastic and tasty. I would say that their fish is every bit as good as Archie's. We were offered a choice of light or regular batter. So far we have only tried the regular batter but it has a great taste and flavour to it. The first time we had their food I would have described their fries as "just ok". They weren't bad, but they weren't great either, they were just average. But to be fair, at that time I couldn't really say what they could do to change it.. But the second time we ate there, the fries seemed much better. I'm sure it was mind over matter, but in the event they have changed something, its for the better!! Both time's we've ordered their food, it has been ready on time, the staff are always friendly. I don't eat coleslaw, but I was told it is quite good. One of these days we might try dining in their restaurant, but I can say for sure that the takeout is fantastic.

I ordered the one fish from them on uber eats. It was moderately okay. I decided to call them a few days later to see if they delivered. I live down the street, literally a 3-4 minute drive, and they tried to charge me 7$ delivery. Which I find is a smack in the face. They lose my business because of the lack of respect they have towards people. If they are busy let the customers know especially during a time like this. I don't like when someone who works there that can have control over the charge fee at any time. That is rude and shouldn't be working in the food industry.

They have good fish but the prices are a bit much. Also the drive through doesn't work properly so you have to remember what you want to order and pull up to the window. The last two times I have been there they didn't give us any thing to eat with. We usually eat in our car as we have busy lifestyles. So this was a major inconvenience for us. Again good fish and all however getting a box full of grease at the bottom and nothing to eat the fish with let alone wipe you're hands with bothered me. If you choose to eat here go inside and enjoy it for a better experience. Pricy but worth it. Just make sure to ask for utensils, napkins and condiments if you go through the drive through.

Let me preface my review with telling you I'm a regular at Olde London Fish N Chips that is only a little bit further away than Golden Lake. Now having said that, I came here with my wife and tried the staple of any good fish n chips place; halibut fish and chips. We bought the dinner for 2. Dinner came with 2 large pieces of halibut, enough fries that we didn't finish them plus coleslaw and a side of gravy. We opted for the regular batter on the fish though light batter was an offered option. Fish was excellent in my opinion. There was a fair bit of grease in the box when I got home but at least it wasn't in the fish. Fries were decent enough. I have had better but no major complaints here. Beef gravy was good but almost too beefy in my opinion. Lol! Seems more like a gravy you'd like on a hot chicken or beef sandwich but no big deal. Last but not least the coleslaw. I thought it was fabulous. Cream based as opposed to so many others doing vinegar based. Top marks! I've waited a long time for someone to have one like this again! And it was a larger one for 2 but lots to enjoy instead of the paltry smaller sized ones most places use. 5 stars. Thanks Golden Lake! We will be returning! Cheers!

This was a wonderful eating experience in a very friendly establishment. I had the lightly battered haddock and breaded shrimp dinner. It arrived quickly and hot. It was delicious! The young lady serving was courteous and attentive. You need to check this place out in South London. They have daily specials, other options for non seafood diners. I will be returning.

Amazing experience from the time I walked in until the time I left. Opening the door to the restaurant you feel as if you are in an beach front seafood restaurant with a modern design in the entire restaurant and has ample seating for both small and large groups. Upon arrival, I was greeted by a very kind host and seated right away and given time to review the full menu with seafood and other options (burgers and chicken). I was then promptly greeted by the waiter who took the order and answered all my questions. The food came very quickly and after finishing my plate, I have to say it was the best Fish and Chips I had ever ate! I recently came back from a trip to London, England and visited some of the best Fish and Chips restaurant in the country (Poppies Fish & Chips, The Golden Chippy) and I can honestly say this was a better all around taste and experience with Golden Lakes excellent batter on the fresh Alaskan Halibut ordered. The waiter came twice and asked if we need anything else, a refill and finally thank us for the visit. I couldn't have asked for a better all around experience. I plan on coming back and bringing a larger group to eat in again and try there breakfast menu! Great job Golden Lake Fish and Chips Team.

I cannot help with reviews on all the food on the menu.. But I can tell you that I ordered Haddock fish with a side of fries that came out to around $8.00 before tax, I believe. The food was good and very filling.. The very generous proportion of fish they give you makes ordering a 2 piece fish meal unnecessary (in my opinion).. Atmosphere is friendly and welcoming and servers are fast and polite. Would recommend as a nice family style restaurant setting. Restaurant has both booths and regular seats.. Paying for your meal is done at the front counter when finished by showing your receipt. Overall a nice, clean and friendly restaurant that I recommend and will likely visit again.

We ordered the Halibut for take out as I thought it would be good to support a new Business I'm the Community. I don't think I'll go back!! Paid what I considered good money and received alot of food. Ran to the car as it was running and the Heater was on!! Lots of French Fries (cold & greasy) and the Fish couldn't be cut with a Sharp Steak Knife... incredible!! I'll go back to Archie's!! The food should have been at it's best as it was only 5:00p.m. on a Saturday.

Awesome fish n chips. Never going back to overpriced Archie's and their lack of quality. I've had Golden Lake 3 times now, twice take out, once in restaurant. Everything is very fresh, the place is very clean and lots and lots of options and their batter is on par. I bring my grandmother fish and chips every now and then, she's 94 and is a big fish n chips fan, she also gives them 5 stars with the halibut!

Ordered take out, lrg greek salad, chicken ceasar wrap with fries and coleslaw and chicken wrap with fries and coleslaw. 2nd and last time. Taste less food, no cutlery, no napkins, no condiments offered or given. Order was accurate and made fast within 15 mins, thus the 1 star. If you don't have tastebuds or like plain food then try them.

This restaurant is just AWSOME. Food is so delicious, from fried or grilled seafood meals to burgers and pastas. I really recommend their deep fried haddock fish and chips. Dont forget to get the creamy coleslaw with that. Fish is flacky and crispy and the fries are buttury delicious. Coleslaw is super creamy (I LOVE THIS SO MUCH). The food is plenty in every plate, like generous amounts, like you will be super full (if you are even able to finish the plate) The service is next level. Servers are friendly and really take care of you. Meagan, one of the servers is just exceptional, super welcoming and nice. The healthy aspect, a lot of their food is deep fried so not that healthy but you can go with grilled fish which is good but not like deep fried. All in all, i recommend this place 110% if am able to give them a 6 star i would!!

I wan't quite as thrilled about this place as some of the other reviewers seem to be. I found it to be just okay, nothing special though. The restaurant is a little small but clean and inviting. Service was good and food arrived quickly. I ordered the halibut and chips ( $14.99) and they were good, but again, nothing overly special or any different than any other Fish & Chip restaurant. If you wanted coleslaw with that, it was an extra charge, which I found rather unusual as most Fish & Chip places include that in the price of the meal. In my opinion, this is just an average Fish & Chip place that doesn't have anything different than any other Fish & Chip place offers. It's not bad, but it's nothing overly special either.

What a find this was! You have to watch for it, because it's tucked in beside and almost behind the Shoe Factory on the side street. The meal was great - the fish done perfectly and I even had a baked potato instead of fries. Prices are reasonable, but best of all was the coconut cream pie. We were even able to purchase one to bring home. You really must try this restaurant for yourself.

I visited a few weeks ago and had the flour dusted haddock with fries. The fish was a little oily/greasy and the fries didn’t seem fresh (as in they didn’t taste like hand cut fries) which was surprising because we were the only people in the restaurant. The meal was okay but I don’t know if I’ll return based on the food. I will mention that the owner/manager seemed very interested in making us happy and was very nice. The restaurant decor was really modern, restaurant was clean and they really did do a lot to transform the old Timmies.

You will want to come back here again and again. I was blown away by the appetizer food selection (battered mushrooms, fried pickles, grilled cheese toast) well as the lunch/dinner menu. Super clean place, menu has photos so you know exactly what you are ordering. Extremely friendly service. My recommendation would be obviously fish and chips as well as the Chicken Parmesan. Fish was perfectly battered, crispy and and not too oily. Chicken cutlet was irresistible - falling apart when cutting it. Tomato sauce with pasta was just as good. Stopping here for lunch to eat made my day.

The food is very good . The waiter should write down the order so he doesn't make mistakes. Don't know if he is new or not, he is trying. But until he is more comfortable with his job writing down things would help alot. And yes I did leave a tip I have made mistakes myself.
