I can not be more pleased with the service or quality of food while dining at Albacore. All of the ingredients, seafood and vegetables, were fresh and flavorful. Other tables were reserved but we were seated quickly at the bar. The picture is of the cod fish with a mushroom sauce - an excellent dish. All of the wait staff were friendly and welcoming and I will be sure to recommend Albacore to our airbnb host so that others will enjoy as well!

The soup was very good, but it was the only dish that tastes good. The ravioli has a weird filling. And the most weird dish was the fried chicken with lobster. I mean, why? The lobster was cold and the fried chicken was warm. Doesn’t make sense. The worst part is that the waiter doesn’t let us in while it starts raining and kept us sitting in the patio. I can’t believe that. Anyway I want to give one star, but two stars just because the soup was good.

An interesting restaurant, and a very good choice when craving fish and seafood. Their fish is fresh and delicious, with a variety of tartare and oysters. There is always one or two 'non fish' options. The menu is short and changes regularly, the plates are interesting, with texture and little known ingredients. The wine menu is extensive and varied, and the staff knowledgable and can help you navigate all the options. The place is bright, painted white with large windows, particularly inviting on a nice summer evening.

Albacore was outstanding! We had four of the appetizers to maximize the number of dishes we could try. Albacore's dishes were all beautifully balanced, none too salty or too sweet. They served PEI oysters which were amongst the best I have ever had. They served a beef ramen dish which was phenomenal. The broth was perfect, it wasn't the typical salty broth that ramen restaurants serve; it tended to the sweeter end of the spectrum. The decor and vibe of the restaurant was very relaxed and cool. Tables were spaced well for covid friendliness. I would highly recommend this restaurant, it has been my favourite restaurant of 2020 so far!

Friendly staff. Their menu has original and creative dishes and it changes frequently. If you are not into seafood, various options with meat or vegetarian options are also offered. The food is beautifully presented and it was good. The only reason I’m giving 3 starts is because even with all the windows and the door wide open the inside was super hot, we were sweating all the time (imagine the staff in the kitchen!). If you visit on summer, I recommend asking for a table on the terrace. In a cooler season I guess it should be OK to eat inside.

I had been waiting to try this restaurant for awhile, so when the opportunity came up, I was really excited. When we arrived, the service was good but the experience kind of went down hill form there. Our drinks were okay but my partner and I got our entrées at different times which delayed the whole meal. After an hour of waiting for our meal, the waiter came to see us and said our order was being plated and it would take no more than 2 mins. 30 mins later, we could tell he was avoiding our table. We ended up just paying for what we had received and left before our main dishes were ready. The staff was apologetic but personally I believe that the restaurant is clearly not worth the hype.

We had a splendid evening. The food was some of the best we’ve had in our lives: ray with crab cake preceded by smoked mackerel. The wine selection was well informed and well curated, the service was attentive and friendly without being intrusive. Great location but one should think twice before feasting on oysters served during happy hour. Most if not all oysters were spawning oysters - far from a winning and recommendable dinner proposition. If you are looking for your “buck a shuck” experience, look somewhere else.

Everything was delicious from the “cocktail du jour” which was a whisky-based drink that evening, to the “huitres” (oysters) from PEI, and the beautifully presented “plats principales”. We had the “linguini aux moules et aux crevettes” (seafood linguini) and the “Lotte rotie au four” (monkfish). The team of waiters was very attentive and pleasant. We enjoyed the ambiance on the tree-centered terrace during a warm summer evening. Being bilingual we were served in French but I heard one of the waiters pleasantly serving another table in English without issue. There’s delicious beer on tap from a local “microbrasserie” and wine by the bottle or the glass. If you’re looking for a table indoors be sure to book ahead. This is a great restaurant to eat dinner at or just to have a few drinks with your partner or a few friends.

We enjoyed this restaurant tremendously. The menu was very original without being silly. The food quality and preparation were absolutely first rate. The waiter did not try to guide us to the most expensive items. The atmosphere was interesting. On the one hand, it has a pleasant charm while, on the other, it fronts onto a main street. We sat on the patio but did not find the traffic noise annoying; things become relatively calm in that area in the evening. But this location has the great benefit of being off the pub choked, tourist trampled Rue Saint-Jean.

The food was decent but the music was loud. We had to fight with flies landing on our food constantly. I was served water that landed on my food and the server didn't even acknowledge the situation. Our trip to the bathroom convinced us to run out of there in a hurry. The place was filthy and this is at 6 PM so no excuses. It is a shame that the food is good but the whole experience around it does not live up to the quality of the chef talent.

Very busy restaurant, reservation recommended. We got a spot at the bar without reservation. Shared the calamari and a gnocchi with fish and meat sauce with a aquatinted... the food was delicious, but the calamari cold. He complained twice and got us a discount, but also totally embarrassed us. The gnocchi dish was absolutely amazing : ) cocktails were nice as well. Can certainly recommend this place. Cheers to the restaurant for putting up with us, i didn’t speak and fresh so i could not intervene with the complaints

Far from saying that it was bad, according to my guests and myself (there were 4 of us), there was a “WOW” factor. For example, the head plate of squid stuffed with spicy tomato clam sauce was delicious, but the bodies of the squid that surmounted the plate, meanwhile fried, lacked much seasoning. As for the octopus starter presentation, it was fantastic and the idea of accompanying it with differently prepared eggplant was brilliant, but the exquisite flavor that we expected when we saw the plate was not not there. Another example, the bluefin tuna was of good quality and cooked to perfection. However, it was rolled in ham and served with a very tasty tomato sauce. The idea was original, but the result was disappointing, the pronounced flavors of ham and tomato sauce thwarting the quality of the bluefin tuna. I In the end, we were all of the opinion that the food at Kraken Kru (another restaurant where fish and seafood are honored by the same owner team) was much better. The ambiance, the quality of the service and the potential of the dishes served will probably be worth another try in a while, hoping that by then the team will have developed their recipes so that they reach their full potential. Last comment, far from me the idea of advising you against this restaurant. I simply got used to tastier and more harmonious cuisine in the other restaurants of this group of restaurateurs! (Original) L'ambiance et le service étaient impeccables. La présentation des assiettes était tout aussi bien réussie. Ceci étant dit, la nourriture nous a créé une légère déception quant à notre expérience globale. Loin de dire que celle-ci était mauvaise, il manquait selon mes convives et moi-même (nous étions 4) un facteur « WOW ». Par exemple, l'assiette de tête de calmars farcis avec sauce tomates épicée aux palourdes était délicieuse, mais les corps de ces calmars qui surmontaient l'assiette, quant à eux frits, manquaient grandement d'assaisonnement. Quant à elle, la présentation de l'entrée de pieuvre était fantastique et l'idée de l'accompagner d'aubergines apprêtées de façon différente était brillante, mais la saveur exquise à laquelle on s'attendait en voyant l'assiette n'était pas au rendez-vous. Autre exemple, le thon rouge était de bonne qualité et cuit à la perfection. Toutefois, celui-ci était roulé dans le jambon et servi avec une sauce tomate très goûteuse. L'idée se voulait originale, mais le résultat était décevant, les saveurs prononcées du jambon et de la sauce tomate venant contrecarrer la qualité du thon rouge. I Au final, nous étions tous d'avis que la nourriture du Kraken Kru (autre restaurant où les poissons et fruits de mer sont à l'honneur de la même équipe de propriétaire) était bien supérieure. L'ambiance, la qualité du service et le potentiel des plats servis vaudront probablement un autre essai dans quelque temps, en espérant que d'ici là l'équipe ait su développer ses recettes pour qu'elles atteignent leur plein potentiel. Dernier commentaire, loin de moi l'idée de vous déconseiller ce restaurant. J'ai simplement été habitué à une cuisine plus savoureuse et plus harmonieuse dans les autres restaurants de ce groupe de restaurateur!

I had made a reservation but upon arrival, realized it was for the next Sunday evening. Nicholas, who greeted me, was able to kindly squeeze me in as the restaurant just opened. I had come during happy hour and the oysters were on special until 1800h. From my understanding Albacore is known for large portions thus he suggested only either an appetizer or main from the two items I had inquired about, which I appreciated. I ended up going with the recommended item and it was paired with great drinks. Upon reading reviews, I realized Albacore is highly via reservations and walk-ins are not always available. With my mistake on the reservation, I am very grateful it could have been accommodated that day and it does not happen all the time - thank-you, Albacore & Nicholas!

I went there with my friend to celebrate an anniversary and just had the best experience. The server (Anick) was superb: we let her pick our dishes and pair our wines. We were not disappointed. An absolute must if you are within driving distance of Quebec City. We found them Sunday, and enjoyed 3 exquisite dishes. The mortadello app and the corn chowder with perfect halibut were the the best of the best flavors I've experienced. We returned again tonight (Wednesday), 3 more as exquisite dishes. Fresh Nova Scotia oysters, fish dumplings in a complex broth with mushrooms, and monkfish with pillow soft gnocchi and veggies. Every bite of seafood is cooked to perfection! This restaurant was recommended to us by our hotel staff. It is outside the walled old city, but not far. We both ordered seared salmon on a bed of mashed peas sprinkled with clams. It was terrific. We told our waiter he looked like a young Kevin Klein. He acted like him, too. He laughed and said Americans always tell him that, but not Canadians. Canadians don't seem to know who Kevin Klein is. Their specialty is seafood and if the other dishes are as good as our salmon was, you probably can't go wrong.

Excellent dining choice in the heart of Québec city. Fresh, tasty food. Everything we ate was beautifully presented with bold flavours and generous portions. On that note, it is nice to visit a restaurant that doesn’t leave you hungry after an appetizer and main course! Definitely not the case here, lots of food, and easy to share. Nice patio of the weather is cooperative, with views of the city surroundings. Easy to recommend. There are vegetarian options and a small selection of wine by the glass.
