High prices, often out of stock, lousy service. To be avoided. Today, returned home to find an item missing from my shopping bag. I returned to the store and was treated like I was trying to pull a fast one. The replacement cost less, and I was not offered a reimbursement of the difference. Not even an apology for the inconvenience. Given the prices, one might expect something resembling a sense of customer service.

I was really disappointed to see an older woman cashier working at a station without a scanning gun. I put down a case of water and the woman had to scan it by lifting it. After speaking with management they said they've been asking for a scanner for that station for three weeks. Unacceptable. It's an injury waiting to happen. In what society do we not take care of those who are older. Especially cashier's during a pandemic. Breaks my heart.

My second visit and I feel so uncomfortable. A Gentleman ask me to get out and leave my backpack in the counter. After I finish my shoppings I ask for my backpack and a lady was giving me the wrong one, I feel like she looked at me like I was lying or a Thief, then she apologized. Afterwards, I took my stuff into my backpack and she asked me if I paid for it and I showed her my purchase receipt. This never happens to me in MAXI!

All right IGA here in Lachine what can I say I've never liked IGA it's always been Quebec was shopping center the French police most employees only speak French and their prices are always high even when they say they have a special happening there special prices as the high-end prices at other shopping centers what are foods are fresh stir breads are freshly made daily the deli counter is phenomenal I definitely suggest for people to come buy printer English whatever language you speak you'll be happy about this place I definitely give it a 5-star rating

Last two times I visited this IGA the service at the cash was horrible. A few weeks back I reached the cash and was in the only line that did not have someone packing bags. There were bag packers at the other cashes, doing nothing I might add, I had to pack my own items...while the cashier watched me! She didn't even help! If i wanted to pack my one groceries I would shop at Maxi and pay less for my items. Today, the cashier flipped my crustade au poires upside down to scan the sku, slight damage but still ok. The bag packer was slow and inefficient. When I got home I noticed he packed hard on top of soft items and everything else sideways! The crustade is complete mush and open all over the other groceries, my sushi is in one clump and the others items are crushed. The almond milk is rotten and clumpy-despite having a best before date of September 2019. The floor at the entrance was riddles with slippery mushed fruit and the sushi fridge was leaking water all over the floor. I shop at IGA for the service. I pay more at IGA than other grocery stores for the SERVICE. There is just no quality service here. Will not go back.

The entrance and exit are the same door so it can be a little wait to get in because of covid, but on the positive side is this store has plenty of gluten free options. Including great bottles beer I could never find anywhere else. If you have issues with gluten this place has some good stuff.

Whether working inside the store or at the tills, their staff is not friendly at all. For example they pick which clients they want to help bag their groceries. Overall they demonstrate a very unprofessional and inconsistent attitude. They do not seem to care the least about their customers and we clearly not seem to be their priority. My advice, train your staff better.

The staff seem great but the no backpack policy is extremely unfriendly to walkers/cyclists Edit: checked out a certain grocery store just north of here and well, not only are backpacks allowed, they also have way cheaper prices, a better selection for vegetarian/vegans, and self checkouts. No problems with anything except cashiers. Each open cash had lines up of over 10 people when I went, and the under 8 items cash was slower than the other cashes. Very unhappy with the service. Apart from that no problem.

The only quality grocery store in the neighborhood. If you want to shop without being harrassed by drunk people or junkies this is the place to go in the Lachine area. Yes, prices are slightly higher than the nearby Maxi on most item but the quality is much higher and the clientele are not (visibly) high on crack.

Pricy compare to other grocery stores. But the experience is better overall (cleaner floors, nicer display, top quality fruits and vegies, best cuts in meats and fishes, more choices, etc.) The staff is most professional and there's even an employee to wrap your groceries into your bags when checking-out. You'll find machines for recycling cans and plastic bottles at the entrance. Parking spaces are limited during rush-hours. It's perfecly located right next to a LiquorStore, a bank and other services.

Don't see why so much bad reviews. Cashier's not speaking proper French? (or Engish for that matter, welcome to Quebec 2015) In any case, what does that have to do with the food quality? Nothing beats the rotten food of Maxi next door. It is a good place, they have good choice of Angus meats and prepared meats. I asked once for a certain food and one of the employees (in proper French) said, they would order it for me and the reason they don't have it (Pineapple juice) is because of low demand.

The female security guard was rude to my mom and kept following my mother around the store for no reason. I don't know if it was a case of racial profiling or not. We've been coming to this store for 15 years, its the first time we had an issue like this. When we called the store about it, the person on the phone just took our name and phone but she didn't apologize about the incident.

I brought back ground beef two days after purchase that had soured and turned brown. I was told by Lucie, the supervisor, that ground beef is only good for 24 hours from the packaging date (lie #1) and in the same breath she went on to say that ground beef never has a best before date (lie #2). Lucie dismissed me and declined to refund me. I crossed the street and bought a package of ground beef from IGA's competitor that had been packaged a day before and had a best before date that said it was good for another 2 days. Lo and behold Lucie: a best before date AND beef that was good for 48 hours (or 72 hours from packaging date). Clearly IGA uses low-grade meat and sells it at a premium without a best before date. They also hire supervisors who ought to know better than to lie to customers to avoid reimbursement. Buyer beware! There are better places to get your meat.

At the cash, I requested delivery like I always do BUT this time I requested that the delivery be made after 2:00 p.m. My son was just leaving for work at 12:20 p.m. and my groceries arrived!! Somebody didn't read the delivery slip because it was marked.

Overpriced all around. Freshness of fruit and veggies is subpar and again, way overpriced. Products made at the grocerie store itself are constantly repackaged into smaller quantities, the management seemingly doesn't think much of their own clients with the way they present so called rebates as if people are fools (example a rebate tag on a pack of redulls for 20 cent rebate on 10-12$ item) . The daily hot meal section is great value if you take the daily meal but saying this will probably make the price go up because they are greedy. The airmiles reward program and good customer service is the only thing keeping some clients faithful because there would be no reason not to go to maxis nearby otherwise.

Has wide variety in all departments. The bakery lacks some breads sometimes (i.e. certain baguettes, loafs etc...) The veggie section is often well stocked, rarely missing items. The meats are good, and pre-marinated or seasoned meats are pretty good. The sausage they make in house are very good. BEWARE: The meat counter (for cold cuts) there is an employee there who often coughs.... this was pre-covid.... and although yes she puts on gloves, she doesn't wash her hand prior to putting them on. There are only a few employees who work at this counter that actually know how to slice meat properly. The fish department knows what they are doing and are helpful in making suggestions if you need. Pre-made pasta sauces, soups, meals and sandwiches are all good.

UPDATE: I HAVE HAD AN UNACCEPTABLE EXPERIENCE AT IGA. I ENTERED THE STORE AS I DO TWO TIMES PER WEEK. I HAD MY GROCERY BAGS WITH ME AS I ALWAYS DO, WHEN I WAS APPROACHED AND TOLD TO LEAVE THE STORE DUE TO NO BAGS WERE ALLOWED. I PROTESTED TO THE THE SECURITY PERSON AND ASKED TO SEE HIS BOSS. HE TOLD ME THAT WAS NOT POSSIBLE. I WENT TO THE "COURTESY COUNTER" AND EXPLAINED MY SITUATION, THEY SAID IT WAS DUE THEFT AND THAT THEY WERE NOT ALLOWED TO SEARCH MY BAGS WHEN LEAVING THE STORE. THAT WAS A POOR ANSWER IN MY OPINION. THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO DO ANYTHING. THEY SAID THAT I MUST TAKE A GROCERY CARRIAGE AND ONLY BUY ITEMS IN THAT MANNER. I TOLD THEM THAT I SHOP AT THE LOCAL MAXI STORE AND THEY DO NOT INTIMIDATE AND PREVENT ME FROM SHOPPING AT THEIR GROCERY STORE. I LEFT IGA AND TOLD THEM THAT THEY HAVE LOST ME AS A CUSTOMER. MAXI HAS RECENTLY ADDED SELF SERVE CHECKOUT AND HAS IMPROVED ALL OF THEIR DEPARTMENT WITH EXCELLENT SALES AND SERVICE. Excellent fruit & vegetables, bakery, dairy, deli, health food, spirits and snacks. Parking area always has free space and speed bumps control traffic. Staff are eager to help when asked. This WAS the best run grocery store that I've ever experienced in the neighbourhoods that I have lived, both in and out of MTL.
