Horrible place, they keep the birds behind glass with just a vent, no interaction. Can't even look at the cats, some are on display at the entrance window in the most exploited of ways. The bird conditions are dismal, a heart breaking way to do business. Thumbs down all the way.

They staff dont know much about the animals they keep. I was sold 3 molly fish being told theyd do fine in a 5 gallon tank! I trusted the 2 employees and took the fish home only to find out not only are they not fresh water fish but require a minimum 20 gallons and that's barely covering it as they grow so big. I've been set up with an aquarium that is doomed to fail. Save yourself some trouble and go down the street to Nature pet center. Or any other pet store you know.

It is difficult not to feel bad for the animals in here. Cages are small and the store is overcrowded and noisy. There is enough stock and shelving to fill a store twice its size. Instead of buying here it is best to make the effort and adopt a pet from a shelter or simply from someone looking to have their pet adopted.

Neat place to shop all kinds of pets and pet accessories. Due to COVID-19 they don't sell dogs and cats at the moment.

Not much variety, and tanks are poorly stocked in the aquarium section. Bought a fairly expensive fish tank, they verify to make sure equipment is all there. The guy seemed nice but the 'verification' process was quick and focused on the items but not so much thoroughly kn the tank (dim lighting didnt help). Read at the counter they have a 10 day return policy, not for your cash back but for store credit(not eligable for pets and food), which I was fine with. It was a big expensive one so of course I handled it with extreme caution. Brought it home to find there was a slight crack, not massive, but it was not noticable but I knew it could get worst with time. Brought it back and asked to either trade for another one or get the store credit if they had no more. The cashier girl was rude and said the return policy didn't apply to fish tanks. That sort of 'too bad, deal with it' attitude and she obviously had no interest in dealing with me. On the bright side since I refuse to conduct any further business in this establishment, I found a much better pet store with a much more knowledgable and polite staff.

Went there for a pet rat, returned home with a sick rat. The manager keeps insisting it's because they are nervous but I have 3 rats and know better than her. We visited this Safari for the first time (we usually go to the one in Dix 30) and we were less than satisfied with the service. Not exciting as I remembered it >< 10 years back. I was surprised and disappointed by the lack of exotic birds and reptiles. Even the fish in the goldfish and coy pond was not as I remembered. I remember passing by the store front listing to all the exotic animals sings and chirping, looking at tucans or monkeys though the front glass sectioned off or even tortoises under sun lamps or eating fresh fruit from the bowls provided by the staff.

Went there to buy a cat and I asked a simple yet extremely important question to a staff : is this cat a Male or a female, since I already have two female cats I cant have a Male one otherwise the females would be terrorized AND ONE OF MY FEMALE CAT IS NOT STERILIZED, she said it's a female no worries. And that's why I got this cat... 4 days later I brought the new cat to a vet and they said it's a Male... and I had to return the cat because of the safari staff unprofessionalism. Even the manager failed to answer a simple question about a pet gender it's a shame. They caused me money loss and emotional damage since I got attached to this cat. Please dont buy your pets from this place. You'll get horrible experience. Staff and the manager are very unprofessional with poor basic knowledge. Not convinced yet ? When we bought the cat, they told us she was in perfect condition (he actually) but in truth the cat had eye infection and bad respiratory symptoms.

This adorable animal really comes from a family place as I was told, he was even trained to pee-pads upon his arrival at home, and obviously grew up in a very healthy social environment. Chez ce Safari, on a pu interagir avec de nombreux chiens, prendre notre temps tester leur comportement, le personnel a été immensément courtois et courtois, et ça nous a permis après des mois de recherche à trouver notre petit amour qui fait maintenant parti de notre famille.

First impression of the place you get a nice vibe but as you go looking around you start to feel bad for the animals. There is a lot of stock and things to buy but so little space for the animals. I had to buy a new filter for an emergency and Safari was closest, I usually go to Aquarius on Jean-talon but it was closed so I had no choice. It cost me 260$ instead of the 180 I paid to the other store. Are you kidding me?? Poor prices and terrible return policy. fish tanks are poorly stocked and variety is low for the sheer size of the store. The only value the store has is in it's aesthetic, the kids really enjoy the visual experience, besides the ambience the store itself is only worth a 1 star review. Overall one of the worst pet shops in the area, bring your kids in to look at the pets if you want, but I'd recommend against spending your money there. Had the most horrible experience there. I watched a lizard I bought there die from what we suspect is severe dehydration. My friend bought a mountain horned dragon. Basically, looked like it was already dehydrated before she got it and the move basically could have been too much for her to get back on her feet. This is what someone that has a good knowledge of lizards told my friend The enclosure that used to hold her at the store looked too small and not properly equipped for them. Mountain dragons can't see still water so they need dripping water or fountains, their enclosure has none of that. When I went to the store to talk calmly to the manager, she said she would sue my friend because my friend described her negative experience on her private facebook account which an employee was somehow tagged to, by someone else. Threatening a bad review on a private profile with a lawsuit isnt quite an experience i would suguest anone go through after losing a pet. So it was clear to me from the get go, she simply wanted a confrontation. She then proceeded to accuse me of killing the dragon. Manager said the lizard had been checked by a professional and was healthy, when I asked her for the paperwork, of course, mysteriously, there is none so that leads me to believe that lizard was not examined recently as opposed to what the manger said. I asked for the headquarter number, again, mysteriously, they don't have a phone number! They need to find a manager than can hold a calm conversation with customers. My friend didn't even fuss about the whole 300$ worth of equipment, just the 40$ of the lizard. Overall, horrible experience, even though I used to go there sometime for crickets I am NEVER going back there. I sincerely hope they get some much needed new management because the conditions of the lizards enclosures are inapropriate for some of the species. They need to put some effort into finding someone that will know enough about the lizard's they sell to do something as basic as keep them hydrated.

The store has a cool style and lots of stock. The aquarium section is probably the most impressive part of the store, but the staff is pretty hit or miss. When I was looking for a cat, the employee didn't seem very interested in helping me find one so I ended up going to the SPCA. After reading the negative reviews about the poor service I couldn't help but think that no one mentioned the poor conditions these animals are kept and where they came from. Purchasing animals from a pet shop at high prices supports pet stores and animal factories/ mills. A better alternative would be to adopt an animal in need of a home at an adoption shelter. Contrary to pet stores, shelters are not organizations created solely on making a profit on an animal's life. Adopt don't buy!

WORST SERVICE. WORST PLACE TO GET HEALTHY RATS. I bought one male rat, but I noticed he had symptoms of breathing difficulty, which was mostly caused by respiratory diseases. The store doesn't honour their own return policy. I bought an aquarium air pump, explaining to the sales person that I was concerned about the level of noise it would generate. I was told I could return it within ten days for store credit, and I found this information ony sales receipt. A few days later I tried to return the item but was told I couldn't because it had been used on an aquarium and it might have been affected! This is irrelevant as regards the pump's sanitary condition insofar as no part of an air pump contacts the water during normal use, let alone a test (air is pushed at positive pressure through a hose into the water.)

Horrible customer service, I used shop at their Rockland location but it as closed, I had bought eight bags of Acana food there, I had bought some bags at teh other store closer to me which they did not accept for the 13th free bag of food because I had not bought them there.
