Drove by this place 1000s of the times and was recommended to try by a friend. Food is amazingggg they have so many options not just burgers and hotdogs. The fries are like crack! So yummy. All prices are SUPER fair. Even during covid i noticed lots of signs displayed, cleaning of the machines and also social distancing. The tables outside is a nice place for social distancing hangs in better weather. This place has been my go to for a quick filling family meals. I love supporting small businesses like them during the pandemic! :)

My fries and chicken strips were ok. I would personally give a 3 star but my 17 year old son who eats anything didn't eat his poutine claiming the gravy was horrible. I've never seen him refuse a meal.

Rated at 4.4 stars, I was optimistic about here, and was hoping for a new "hole-in-the-wall" kinda restaurant. I went in with no real expectations, and yet somehow I still left disappointed. I do not like leaving negative reviews for small restaurants like this, and so I do not mean this lightly: the food was, at it's peak, *adequate*. The portion-sizes were decent, but the food simply lacked any basic flavor. The only positive point I can say about here was that the food quality brought me nostalgic feelings of ordering from my high-school cafeteria, but sold at restaurant prices. I legitimately do not understand where these good reviews were coming from. Perhaps I ordered on a bad day; but I don't intend to return to find out.

Tried the cod, haddock, breaded mushrooms, fries, rings, and coleslaw. The batter used on the fish wasn't our fave crispy style yet still decent. Fish itself was good. The coleslaw was a bit on the sweet side yet good. Everything else, including the service was excellent! Will be back soon to try some of the other items.

Great pricing for great proportions! I usually get the crispy chicken on a bun and the pork schnitzel on a bun and they never fail to fill my up and make me a happy man. For ~$11 total, it makes for a great lunch.

They make excellent fries here, I often stop in with the kids when we’re out and about and enjoy the fries in their picnic tables out front. Staff is always very friendly.... Definitely recommend them.

I've been searching for a new go to place for fish-and-chips since my since my Former go to of over 30 years closed down recently. I don't know if I will ever find anywhere that I like as much but this place came pretty darn close. The fries with dressing with gravy were incredible and the fish was smaller portions from my Former favorite but was extremely tasty with thinner batter. I will most definitely return.

Decided to try Manitou Take out today,it's been about 10yrs since I've eaten here and I was not disappointed with my decision! Ordered a 1pc fish and chips meal and BBQ beef on a kaiser with fries and gravy, the fish was cooked perfectly and was full of flavour and not at all greasy the beef on a kaiser was tender and sauced just right,the fries are fresh cut and awesome!! The 2 ladies working the shop today 11/29/20 were friendly and pleasant to deal with. We will be making this little treasure on Courtland ave a weekly treat for ourselves! I was looking forward to trying a good burger out here in Kitchener, very disappointed :( -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In response to the owner's snarky comment on my review, the fresh cut fries aren't something you should be proudly promoting, there was nothing "fresh" about them. They looked like day old fries that were tossed in the fryer multiple times. As for the burgers, a quick stop to No Frills to grab a box of No Name hamburgers would genuinely be such an improvement on the quality and taste of the burgers. The light grey and brown color of the burgers that you serve is truly revolting. No where in my original review did I say that you implied you sold fresh burgers, but maybe do more than toss them in a microwave or whatever you've been doing to get the results you've been serving to the public. I most certainly will not be returning to spend any more money on the "food" you serve here. I complimented what I saw working and I gave constructive criticism in my original review, if you cannot take suggestions and feedback then it's best to take yourself off of Google Maps so you don't receive any more feedback in the future.

UPDATE: The last 2 times we went we had no issues. Employees were great and I am upping the stars. I don't know if the same person works there as before but our service was better, the food was still great as usual and no one seemed frustrated. Not sure if the lady turned herself around, was spoke too or let go, doesnt matter. Its back to where it should be! Leaving my old review up to show that management does care and actually takes care of business. Old: Can you please hire sober employees? You have a girl who is stoned out of her mind working there and my wife is going to start vetoing your place as an option for food due to her mistakes. Some of the other employees have appeared frustrated with her as well. Just a temporary one star. Anyone else reading this: the food is great and all the other employees are wonderful.

I could eat here everyday! Local privately owned food trailer. Used to be a little shack but clearly the expansion speaks for itself. If you love fresh home cut fries or maybe turn it into a poutine with real cheese curds... than you will love it there. Chili cheese dogs, foot longs, Italian sausage, Oktoberfest sausage, honey garlic sausage and don't forget the schnitzel or peameal sandwiches. It's got it all. Oh and did I mention the portions are great for an unbelievable price! So don't hesitate everyone!

Lovely customer service! Unfortunately the food was horrible. My family ordered the fish and chips, and the nacho fries. The fish was alright; nothing special, but the fries were soggy and unsalted. We added beef to the nacho fries and were disappointed to find that the beef was completely unseasoned! Like, no taste at all; just cooked meat with salsa and sour cream. As a college student on a budget, I cooked better meals. For the prices this place charges, it's simply not worth it. If you want a comparable tasting meal for cheaper, go buy frozen foods from your nearby grocery store. You will save money and not regret it like we did.

They messed up our order: my kid wanted a pogo and got peameal on a Kaiser. This is the only time we've been here, so I'm not sure how common this is. It's incredibly frustrating when a takeout order isn't right, especially when it's a kid's meal (my kid is high on the drama scale, too). Otherwise, the fries were good. I got a crispy chicken sandwich, and the chicken was good, but the lettuce was well past its prime. Also, they put ketchup and mustard on it, which is weird, and (I think) gross...it's possible my husband misunderstood and thought they asked about mayo (which I like), though. We also got nacho fries, which were ok, not great. I'm on the hunt for great nacho/cheesy fries in KW, this isn't the end of my quest.

Used to go here all the time, kind of fell off my radar after the location change. Really glad i rediscovered it. Can't go wrong with a Polish sausage and newfie fries. Expect a short wait around lunchtime, nothing unusual. Great food for a great price, and the staff really seem to care. I'll be back, again and again.

Very happy with food/service! Just finished our first takeout meal from Manitou and will definitely be returning. The order included Fish, burgers, chicken fingers and fries so my review covers a good percentage of the overall menu. I took a minute to read some of the other reviews and heard concerns about quality and price and am a bit confused. Food was solid diner quality and prices were more reasonable then most places with similar fare. Pretty sure I would have paid more for a similar order at McDonald's. It was nice that I met the owner during pick-up, something that seldomly happens anymore.

Everything you could ask for of a food truck. Down and dirty and overwhelmingly delicious. Poutine is like a stew with potato and cheese bits. I'm pretty sure I could see the astral plain by the time I was done. Disgustingly beautiful and mandatory to achieve nirvana.

Have yet to try much else other than the roast beef poutine that my daughter and I are addicted to. They have a wonderful selection of other comfort foods. A very clean kitchen and beautiful outdoor seating which make pretty days a perfect place to go for dinner or lunch.

One bit of "Constructive criticism", although it may not be cost effective..... Would love to see a home made tartar sauce. Something about homemade sauce really goes a long way. I don't come as often and haven't been in awhile, due to recent diet restrictions. I was out with a friend last week and needed a good place for a quick meal, close to home. Manitou seemed to fit the bill. It was nice to see the menu still had the usual delicious choices and daily specials. We both ordered the pulled pork (I no longer eat wheat, and got 50 cents off in lieu of no bun - a very nice gesture) and fries. The pork was really good and the fries were great as usual. It was a Friday evening, raining and busy, so I expected the 10 - 12 minutes or so wait for our food. My friend had a time commitment to pick up his child with special needs, so we ended up turning a sit-down meal into a takeout. It was his first time at The Manitou TakeOut and was glad that I recommended it. Just a couple suggestions... Perhaps a couple gluten-free menu items... And an upgrade option to the current fish selection - I know that I would pay more for a fresh, grilled fish (which could easily be gluten free)... You would probably see me more often

I wanted to try this place and ordered loaded nacho fries, cane out as huge disappointment, the fries were soggy and sweet. There was tomatoes and ketchup all over and a pound of fries dumped below the toppings. Threw away box as is after first bite. Can’t make my mind to try anything again here.

The fries were incredibly greasy and there was a lot of black rot like no one was paying attention when cutting them and didn't realize they were using rotten potatoes? Fries are much thinner as well and they salt them without asking. I have never had that happen at a fry truck before. They used to be great, what happened? Also, didn't even try to control the people coming in even though they tell you on a sign max of 3 inside. No PPE on any of the staff either, I get it's hot, but still.

Food is alright. I have a list of places I would recommend before even considering recommending this takeout spot to anyone. Last time we were there we placed a large order ($50+), and everything was soggy and gross, bordering on inedible. Staff are also not well versed in customer service, which is completely lacking. After this experience, I attempted reaching out to the owner via their website before resorting to leaving a negative review, with no response. Kind of obvious the owner couldn’t care less about her customers when she ignores the majority of negative reviews on google, yet finds the time to respond to positive ones.

We tried Manitou Takeout lastnight and it was delicious! We loved the crispiness of the fish coating and the fries were excellent. A bit too many fries but I guess more is better than too little. It looked as if we both had 3-4 potatoes cut up. Some coleslaw added would have been a perfect addition to break up the fried food. We'll go back for sure. :)

Ordered 2 brbq sandwiches and many other items When I arrived at my daughter's we looked at the brbq sandwich It was actually just a lump of dried chicken on a bun nothing else The reason we got it was bc of the toppings When I called they could have cared less They just said you have to ask for it ???? Really that's such poor service and we spent 43 dollers never again They never said sorry not a word But then again she stated they where now so busy I'm assuming bc of Covid What a shame never again they do not appreciate there customers They could have easily said " what do you want on it " Nope !!!! We just tried them and the food was okay. My big disappointment was the lack of measures to protect their customers and maintain social distancing. They have a small vestibule and at least 6 people were standing around waiting inside without masks. They call your name from inside the building when your order is ready so the only way to know if your order is ready is to enter the confined space with everyone else. Maintaining social distancing was not possible to pick up you order. Very disappointed!

Used to love it here but the last few times things have not been as good as previous visits. Tonight my pogo was overcooked and my fries undercooked, some cold and old ones in the mix. My last visit we ordered combos and didnt get our drinks

First time going to Manitou Takeout. I bought a medium poutine with extra cheese. It was really tasty. The fries were crispy and fresh, and they use actual mozzarella cheese curds. The only thing I noticed was that it was super salty. I'm not sure if it was the extra cheese, or the gravy, or salted fries (or maybe a combination of all). Either way I'll be going back again. I'll probably not get extra cheese and I'll ask if they can skip salting the fries. All in all, it was good!

Came here for the first time today, the straight up poutine was great. Nacho flavor wasn't bad at all (I'd give that a 4/5) but the service was reasonable, food was hot and be prepared to be full.

I Had a large Newfoundland French fries. Absolutely fantastic Outstanding and delicious. Also had a large all beef jumbo Chilli cheese dog . I had fried onions added to it and relish. It was also outstanding both are 5 star across-the-board for sure.

I ordered the nacho fries. The fries were so dark, I’m not sure when the last time the oil was changed in the fryer. The toppings were very generous and I even added ground beef but there is no seasoning at all, it was just plain ground beef. I’ll give them another shot and try something different but that’s it. There’s a lot of competition for french fries and you need to be on your game

Love that they teamed up with skip the dishes! The food is always amazing and the delivery was super fast. I was surprised at how well they do pulled pork, and their dessert is great too. They also have Newfie pop, which is a steal!

Great food!! Burger patty was excellent bacon and cheese too. Nice lightly toasted bun. Poutine was wonderful home made hand cut fries with good cheese curds and yes the gravy is amazing sooooo good!!
