Ordered halibut and fries to take home fries were dry no coleslaw (said included on menu) would like to comment on fish but wasn't enough in the order to make a rational decision one way or the other ( see what I did there ) went there based on friend recommendation (might not b friends anymore) and very over priced for what was in the order. Usually go to captain George's for the same meal including 6 battered jumbo shrimp huge plate of fries a piece of halibut that takes up half of plate coleslaw and gravy and a pop 20 bucks I belive. Definitely a better deal.

Ordered through Skip the Dishes only to have my order cancelled because they could not get a hold of the restaurant. 25 minutes wasted waiting for food when I could have ordered elsewhere. Not a reliable establishment and therefore I do not recommend Fran's!!!! Warning....go elsewhere if you actually want to receive food!!!

Ordered for the first time tonight and I have to say, we'll definitely be back. The halibut was amazing. The popcorn shrimp was crispy and delicious. The double bacon burger was perfection. All around an amazing little gem of a location.

1st time ordering here, had the two-piece fish and chips.. Fish was amazing, the batter was Crisp 'n light. The chips were perfect.. When craving fish 'n chips. This hit the spot!! ????

Had Fran's for the first time last Saturday and it was wonderful.... my husband went in at lunch to grab my parents fish and chips and they loved them.. I was at work and so once I was done work we headed over and had our own feast.. it was amazing.. hit the spot, service was great, quick and food was delicious.. will be going to this place often.. PS loved the pineapple candies :)

EDIT: I wanted to change my review but still, despite it being during open hours, they are closed. Clearly this is a lost cause. This place is always closed when I try and go despite it being during open hours. This has happened to me on 3 different occasions. I might try again as I have heard it's pretty tasty, but clearly I should call first.

Wow - if you're looking for fantastic Fish & Chips - this is your place!!! First time here and certainly won't be the last. We're from the east coast of NH and my husband (the fish fanatic) says this is the best Haddock he's had in Kingston, ON. I had Frans Jumbo Club with fries - which would easily feed 2 and I must say, it was absolutely amazing. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed.

We got it delivered to the East end and everything arrived still surprisingly warm. Fish (we had haddock) was excellent. Great batter, better fish - this from someone who spent most their life in Atlantic Canada. The fries were excellent, too. The family meal was phenomenal value.

As a life long Kingstonian I have to say Frans Fish & Chips is as good as the long gone "Murphy's fish & chips of the 50's - 80s!!!" Top notch light crispy amazing batter, huge servings and mouth watering fries. I highly recommend you try this place you will not regret it!

The food was good but the new owners are inconsistent with there hours many times we have gone over during posted hours and they have been closed!! Very disappointing! There hours aren't that good to begin with. And the service is less then disirable many peoeple we talk to find that the lady that owns it is simply not ment for the customer service industry!!

I’m sorry Fran, I don’t know what you sold me, but I have never had halibut that looked or tasted like what I bought from you today. It looked like it might have been a frozen peace of mashed cold cuts rolled up in some awful batter and the fries were just ok. If I could have given 0 stars I would have.

Our fish was cold when it was delivered, overcooked and dry as hell. Basically all just batter with a couple little bits of dry fish. The most disappointing meal I’ve had in Kingston. Their tartar sauce is homemade and absolutely foul doesn’t even taste like traditional tartar sauce, and their coleslaw was horrendous. 40+$ for 3 pieces of fish, what a disgrace.

Absolute love Frans fish and chips however if you're only going to allow two people at a time in the store then they should be delivering to the cars and instructing customers who have already ordered their food to step outside to allow more customers to come in to make their order I do not want it delivered by doordash or skip the dishes

Used to eat here all the time growing up. Was a family tradition. Then someone bought princess the business to keep her busy and lost the quality. Went in 30 mins before close. The s Assistant actually said there out of fish. Like wow. Went over to gorge on gardeners. Better price better service better quality

I don't think I have ever had such good fish and chips! They nailed everything! The haddock was thick and juicy, batter crispy but light. They layered the gravy and Wilton cheese curds through the poutine. The bacon wrapped scallops, battered shrimp and popcorn shrimp were excellent! The greens for the slaw and salad were crisp and fresh. Will definitely be ordering from here again!

This is one of the best fish & chips places I have ever been to. I live in Mississauga and stop here every time I am passing by Kingston on the 401. The portions are very generous, the fries are crispy awesomeness and the fish is always perfection. I have yet to find anything close to this good in the GTA. I wish Fran’s was closer.

I ordered the Fran's Combo through Skip the Dishes last night, and was thoroughly impressed. Everything tasted absolutely fantastic - I have been craving more all day! This is honestly the best fish and chips that I have ever had. The presentation was great as well, and the portion size was quite generous. I'm definitely going to be returning for more soon!

One-and-a-half star rounded up for this establishment with its own concept of cleanliness, and its constant quest to see how much oil it can cover the fish & chips with. Prices are low, but unfortunately don't include the Zantac you'll need to buy afterwards, so it's a wash. (Except it's only a metaphorical wash.) Thank you, Zantac!

My husband and I are from BC and he literally won't eat fish unless it is super fresh right from the ocean on the west coast. I talked him into caving for my craving when I saw you had fish brought in from BC, haha. You are officially the only place he will eat fish from that is not directly beside the ocean. So whenever we are super homesick, we call up this AMAZING place. Thank you for such incredible food and the crispiest/lightest batter since back home in BC!!!

Unfortunately for some reason they have decided to switch to using frozen fries instead of fresh cut. I spent thirty dollars on what I could have made at home for less than ten. Used to be the best poutine in Kingston but has fallen to the bottom. Gravy also tastes the same as McDonald's poutine gravy now☹️

It's really unfortunate that the staff does not answer the phone because they are too busy talking to their boyfriend instead. I tried calling multiple times with no luck. I drove down and again walked into the store and tried calling. As the phone is ringing, she didnt even acknowledge it. Why have a phone if your not going to answer it.

Stopped here recently. Ordered the halibut and chips. The fish was good, batter was ok, could be a touch lighter. As for the chips, they are good at North American standards. Just not what your used to getting in the UK and Ireland. Need to chunkier. Needs a lick of paint and updating on the inside. Do not expect to sit in and eat at this location, it only has a small bar area to eat at.

Ordered thru Just Eat cause I needed some comfort food. Never had Frans before, the deciding factor was they have fried pickles. The food was amazing! Delivery was super fast (faster than the estimate but that’s a JE thing). The only thing I would complain about is that I only ordered the one piece fish n chips. Not because the portions were small (they were more than enough!) but because I wanted more!! So. Damn. Good.

First time ordering from Fran's. Ordered through skip the dishes. Fish massively overcooked inedible. Poutine wasn't bad thin cut fries, I doubt they are fresh cut. Popcorn shrimp was good and deep fried mushrooms where good as well but they didn't send ranch the sent sour cream. Also for the green folks out there. Styrofoam containers not cardboard box.
