Have been to Sakura twice now while visiting family in Cranbrook and both times I have been delighted. We typically order 4-5 rolls and share and the selection they have is awesome! The mixed tempura was also really great the last time we had it. We also ordered a "dessert sushi" for the first time (it was mango banana) and it was so good we had to order a second one. Service has been great both times as well. Will definitely try to go back next time we are in town.

I was in town for a work matter and found my way into this cozy sushi shop for dinner. As I was eating alone, I chose to sit at the bar but was initially offered seating of my choice (which is always nice). The food was fast, fresh, and very tasty. The sushi chef also prepared a little complimentary dish that was extremely good. Service was friendly, helpful, and didn’t pressure me at all despite hanging out, reading the news, and slowly making my way through one beer. Overall, a great location - will definitely visit when I return to Cranbrook!

I always love coming to this place for a vegetarian sushi roll. It's a really great place to go if you are having a lunch meeting and even a better place if you just want to take out some sushi to eat at home. It has a very unique atmosphere inside and the food is prepared very well, you can tell they take the time to produce a quality product in the way that it looks and tastes. Just beware if you sit in one of the booths that the tables they have there have legs that are extreme Knee Bashers!

Sakura is one of the best places in town to go for sushi. This time I had the little roll combo and an amazingly large bowl of miso soup. DELISH. The "boat" options are a favorite you really can't go wrong with them. Service is friendly and quick. I really enjoy the atmosphere and setting inside this place.

Aside from not having their menu available online (other than Facebook). They did send me a copy to my e-mail, and I'm glad they did. The food is absolutely great! I would go back once the Pandemic is over to have the full experience, but for now the take out is well with three drive. Staff were friendly and the food was ready and fresh, still hot after the drive home. Thank you for making our "at home life" that much better. Cheers.

Excellent quality fish. Fish is imported fresh from Vancouver and it shows. Definitely on par with plenty of places in Vancouver, and not too expensive. Good flavor but rice could be a bit more sticky. Definitely recommend if you're looking for sushi in Cranbrook

I come here often. More than I should, really. The food is great but expensive; the waitresses are friendly, do their job well, and always have good recommendations; the chefs are experienced, friendly, and will often treat you to a "special" roll if you sit at the bar (which is fantastic by the way, these guys often make the dining experience truly enjoyable). Just be ready to open your wallet. The best sushi in a four hour radius of Cranbrook certainly isn't cheap.

My go-to Sushi experience in Cranbrook. Sakura never fails to impress with quality Sushi. I usually go with a Nigiri combo, and if you are adventurous I highly recommend trying the “Kiss of Fire” which is a Sakura specialty.

Great food! However the child highchair saftey buckles are almost always broken or missing and the front entrance is not very accommodating of baby strollers and wheelchairs. I would love to see the highchairs repaired and make it easier for people to enter the restaurant.

By far the best sushi in town, and the friendliest staff. I have always loved Sakura, but tonight really was amazing. I called 15 minutes before they closed praying I'd still be ok to order, she took my order kindly, and when I got there (10 minutes later) they had my order ready with a smile and a free magnet/bottle opener. I have never felt like a nuisance in this restaurant and their food is always top notch!

Nice little place in heart of downtown. Got busy quickly at supper on a Friday, so make a reservation or get in earlier. Great menu variety, lovely presentation. Amount of crab in some of the rolls is a bit too much, actually! Lighting is a bit low, but wonderful spacing of tables in a smaller building.

I've given this place a few tries and never had good luck I'm sorry to say. The atmosphere is nice but I've not had luck with fresh sushi. When I was there last week my husband and I pulled all the seaweed out because it was old and chewy and the waitress noticed and said she would tell management but they didn't take any steps to accommodate or compensate.

I have eaten at Sakura twice now, the reasoning for the 2 star rating is purely the customer service, which was awesome...the rolls not so much! I have had the Avocado Roll, Chicken Teriyaki Roll, Dynamite with Cream Cheese Roll and Sunset Roll. All of the rolls had a funny taste which was a total turn off, and some had suprise ingredients in or on them. The Dynamite with Cream cheese came with crab in it as well as fish eggs ontop which was not in the roll description, and the Sunset also came with crab in it as well as it being baked with mozzarella cheese, which again was not in the roll description. They were both in my opinion, disgusting and I couldn't finish either of them. The ingredients didn't blend well together, resulting in the rolls tasting off. Thankfully the waitress was understanding and was very accommodating, not to mention extremely nice!!! All in all, I don't think I will be going back to Sakura unless I am only planning on having the Tempura (which is delicious). Rolls are my favorite dish at a sushi restaurant and the 4 that I've had from Sakura were gross. I also think the pricing is a bit high for the quality of food that is produced. I would recommend Fubuki Sushi for an all around amazing Sushi experience!

My husband reckons this is the best place we've eaten while visiting Cranbrook. I have to agree. He had Teriyaki Eel. We shared shrimp and yam tempura which was perfectly done. I had the Rainbow roll, eel roll, and a side of seaweed salad. Glad I'd gotten the salad because the rolls were very rich. Delicious, but I could have used some pickled radish or something. For dessert my husband had deep fried mango ice cream and I had the ginger cake (also rich!). We decided we probably could have happily shared one or the other, but that didn't stop us from eating all of both. Lol.

Truly enjoyed eating here this evening. Three of us went for dinner. Two of us had bento boxes and one ordered an order of spicy salmon sushi and one spicy tuna. We all enjoyed our meals and with a side of kimchi and one of dumplings it was lots if food. Shared some ginger cake type dessert which came with a sweet sauce and some mango icecream. Service was good and always there when needed. Never seemed to be there pushing to order extra or looking to get us to order anything we had not decided we wanted.

I went here for takeout during Covid19. The quality of the rolls are very good. Thin thin layer of rice wrap around a generous ingredients. Price is expensive and you get what you pay for. Call ahead for take out as coin meter parking only at front.

"Grill" dinner for seven, four adults and three children, was less than $100. The food was simply amazing! This restaurant would easily survive the competition of a bigger city. We're not big sushi eaters, so we stuck to the menu and had everything from gyoza, to tonkatsu, and the standard beef teriyaki. The plates were fairly plentiful, but our only complaint would have to be how little rice we got with each item - we had to order two extra bowls of rice, and even those bowls weren't as full as hoped. If you get the kids chicken katsu "boat", make certain you get it without cheese (cheese chicken katsu?!?) and ask for more rice, as the amount given is miniscule for a pre-teen.

Sakura Sushi and Grill is delicious. They have lots of vegetarian options and they are family friendly. I had the veggie Bento Box and it was fantastic. Lunch stop on the way back to Alberta. The Chirashi has really fresh sashimi and they even topped it with a tempura shrimp and some pickled parsnips. My husband had the lunch bento and that looked pretty good too! Lots of choices on the menu whether you’re a die hard “real” sushi (raw fish) or a casual sushi lover. Good ambiance and excellent service as well even though they were quite busy when we came here!

We have been missed for the second time! There seems to be no-one managing the shift! Luckily a waitress saw that we weren't impressed and came over to ask if we'd been helped. She told us that nobody knew who's table we were at! Ok sushi if you don't mind the extremely long waits and overpriced food.
